As I'm avoiding doing any of the useful stuff I should be doing I thought I'd just pop another sidecar up x

Aarrrghhh. Is being hot a thing? I don't think I'm ill. But my hands, stomach and thighs are really hot? The rest of me is too but those bits worse. Never really had it before. 🤷‍♀️ I know you get hot later on but not yet surely? Its making me want to itch.

@bez91 I've never fit in anywhere in my life. So a baby group sounds horrific to me. 🤣
@Juno231 we don't have a bump and baby one either locally. 🙄 The headache isn't there all day but it comes and goes. It's really annoying. Do one!
@Lexber 🤣 Men! Although it is a pretty intense job, I couldn't do it. Not that I'm sticking up for him. 🤭 Mine is out tonight and it's peace and quiet for me!
@DKDK123 oh I'm really sorry to hear about your gran. Tough time. I hope it goes as well as it can.
@becarefuloutthere still got a headache. 😫 None of these induction options you keep giving us sound very fun. 🤣
@Minster2012 yes you are right, hopefully I'll find one person on my wavelength. 🤣 I'm sorry about your friend. I'm relying on you to suss out car seats! Why is everything so difficult?
@Haiyaa crap about OHs not being allowed to be there long. I think I'd discharge myself. 🤣 No one needs the stress of wee decisions at a time like that. Hopefully though it'll not be as bad as you think.

Minster2012 · 26/01/2022 21:47

I mean like not over £100 that is. 🙄

Minster2012 · 27/01/2022 07:45

@Vil10 how's your dog go btw?? We've had a night of doggies shenanigans too as our pointer seems to have eaten something horrid & we were woken 3 times in the night be whining & barking which they never do unless there's a problem & she'd been throwing up. Does not make for a restful night 😬

Minster2012 · 27/01/2022 07:47

Oh and @Crazydoglady123 how are you?? That's an imminent baby arrival, have you had a sweep yesterday? Any sign??

bez91 · 27/01/2022 07:51

So sorry about your gran @DKDK123 sending you love ❤️

@larrythelizard @Minster2012 these spa days sound good! I've been sightly put off as I took my friend on one when she was pregnant and they were arses about what she could/couldn't do but I might have another look for us to go.

Wow @Haiyaa not long now. It must feel strange that you're able to count down the days.

@Minster2012 wow that's ridiculous! A bit like you I've bought a couple of bits before but usually when I'd just found out I was pregnant. I bought a foot muff for our buggy which was the proper one for it for like £30 reduced from £90 just after a loss but it was only £30 not like £2-3k on clothes alone. I think she's a bit green 😬

Juno231 · 27/01/2022 08:19

@Haiyaa as in what to do with baby if you need a wee? There was a actually a thread on MN about this the other week! Answers were that you could either wheel the thing they're in with you, ask another mum to keep an eye on it or buzz a midwife to come grab it. Apologies if I misunderstood your question though!

@DKDK123 I'm so sorry to hear about your granny, I really hope she's comfortable XX

@Crazydoglady123 have you snuck off to have the baby without us 🧐

@Minster2012 they have groups outside of London, but are primarily a London thing

Not gonna lie minster, I bought two adorable baby Christmas outfits for next Christmas thanks to you! Only things I've bought so far though. Well, and the pregnancy pillow. And the sling/wrap like 18 months ago 😆

whatwonder · 27/01/2022 08:51

so sorry about your gran @DKDK123 hope you're doing okay xx

@Juno231 that is SO frustrating about your appointments! I'm also doing bump and baby club, it was cheaper, dates more convenient and they include first aid!

@paintfairy have you tried peanut? It's kind of like tinder but for finding mum friends :p I've never done any app or online dating so found it a bit daunting but have actually found some mums in my area due around the same time and have met up for a walk already with some of them and that's been pretty nice!

@Minster2012 OMG that thread !! Shock I've bought a few bits of clothing and even now I'm wondering if it's too early haha. We did actually just buy a pram to take advantage of January sales.

@bez91 also looking for good online prenatal yoga, so please post links if you find any good ones! one of our local studios does zoom classes but I still don't know how I feel about those.

whatwonder · 27/01/2022 09:14

@Juno231 which hypnobirthing course are you doing with Positive Birth Company? Is it just digital pack or one of the online courses? I've been trying to look into those a bit more. The name does seem a bit woo woo but as you say it's really just a coping mechanism which seems to be a useful skill to have!

Kate105 · 27/01/2022 09:17

At the moment it's just coffee and cake in the cafe @Minster2012 but I'm eying up the other mums to see who wouldn't be too horrified if I suggested a change of scene/percentage 🧐 I'm also with you on that, @paintfairy I do genuinely need to leave the house every day otherwise I get a bit claustrophobic. 😂😂😂 @larrythelizard "buy some baby friends" we couldn't do NST because there was nothing going through the pandemic but seems like a good idea.

😂😂😂 I think you're sorted there @Lexber Lil and Pax 💙💖

I did have to stay in with the pessary @becarefuloutthere also not the funnest 😂 I think some hospitals do offer a lower dose one which you can go home for but we're not that sophisticated up here. But it did work quite quickly to be fair. I went in and had it at 8pm, waters broke at 3am and up to labour ward by midday. But then TSD had other plans and decided he wasn't having it...

Sorry about your gran @DKDK123 ❤️

Ah ward wees @Haiyaa depends on your style of parenting. I just left TSD in his cot, only realised on my second day that the other, more dedicated mothers would wheel the cot in with them 😂🙈 for everything else the docs/midwives came to us.

WELL bad karma over here for complaining about the dolphin calls because Bantersaurus Rex has caught our cold (turned out not to be Covid, don't remember if I updated, I'm sure you were all dying to know). So he was up snorting half the night and then projectile vomiting all over the shop (I.e. me) so had 3 pyjama changes (me, not TSD) and a duvet change at 3am. It's 5pm somewhere, right?!

larrythelizard · 27/01/2022 09:18

Sorry about your gran @DKDK123 - sending love.

Oh that would annoy me @bez91 I figure I can risk assess myself, probably no sauna/steam room but I'd have a short dip in a jacuzzi I think!

Not long to go @Haiyaa, 01/02 is a great DOB!

Terrifying but exciting @feliznavidad2? How long are you planning on having off?

Sounds like they're taking good care of you @Lexber

You too @bez91, that's good! Last time HR were shit and I really had to chase it all!

I read that one @Minster2012 and felt quite sorry for the OP.

I had quite a random hospital bag when I had my migraine last year @Lexber but to be fair I think DH was hugely panicked when he did it. Thankfully he remembered a charging wire for my phone, very little else useful like clean clothes other than socks!

I think im chronically dehydrated @paintfairy which is contributing to my frequent headaches, really trying to drink more water but it's almost game over when the nausea hits.

That sounds tough @Haiyaa about the visiting hours but at least you know before you go in instead of it being a shock.

My posh (Aden+Anais) muslins have arrived but I'm not opening the box until after my scan next week, if it's bad news I'm just going to send them back. Same with the maternity shorts/jeans I bought from the next sale!

larrythelizard · 27/01/2022 09:20

@Kate105 @Lexber 😂😂😂 Lil and Pax, to be fair it sounds very trendy!

Oh nightmare @Kate105 - have you got a calpol vapour plug yet?

OP posts:
Kate105 · 27/01/2022 09:25

WHAT NO @larrythelizard off to Google I go!

whatwonder · 27/01/2022 09:51

@Kate105 mate, you just can't catch a break can you! hope you're all able to get some rest today xx

Minster2012 · 27/01/2022 10:59

Whoops sorry for jinxing TSD @Kate105 and I wouldn't have thought twice about leaving baby in the cot to do a ward wee! Whoops

Vil10 · 27/01/2022 11:14

@Justanothercyster hahaha steering clear of DTD on Valentine's this year!! Imagine the coincidence though!! Definitely, but I did remember last night OH is on his training plan so it looks like a meal for one whilst he eats his chicken and sweet potato😂

@bez91 second trimester material😂 love that😂 oooo shit did just get real starting to talk about mat leave!!

@paintfairy there'll definitely be something out there for you to enjoy with baby and meet others! I bet even going swimming or going to the park you'll meet other mums! My boss knew pretty early as it's my mum🤣 but I didn't tell the woman at work until my 12 week appointment! Very annoying on the plasterer, you do still have time but I'm very much a "I want it doing now" sort of person especially if they've given a quote and everything is ready to go! Hopefully they'll get back to you pronto!!

@Kate105 thankyou!! Ohh what a nightmare night!!! Is he any better?

@Juno231 well I'd like to think that's all the bad luck we're going to get!! Running pig made me laugh🤣🤣 but what a farce!! I feel like they also look at you and talk to you like it's your fault?? Are they going to rearrange the appointment for you? And did you manage to get your bloods done?

@larrythelizard OH is taking on all the stress of it he said so it doesn't stress me out bless him but I can tell he's stressed with it all, it just feels like none of the professionals are actually helping Or are doing what they're being paid to do??

@paintfairy it's easy to become a solicitor you say?? Sign me up!!

@becarefuloutthere hahahaha we are that!!

@Minster2012 you're so right!! We should've completed in November, and it's now looking like feb, the solicitor takes days and days to get back to us with urgent questions, OH has been dealing with the buyers solicitor himself on some occasions!!

@DKDK123 im so sorry to hear about your gran!! Sending love❤️

@Haiyaa yes boss!! You're right though😂 ahhh Tuesday!! That's so close!! You've got this!

@Minster2012 ohhh no!! I hope your dog is better now?? Or still struggling? Ours was sick again yesterday afternoon and still got bad diarrhoea, but seemed a lot more himself this morning, he greeted us like he usually does and his tail was wagging and he ate half of his breakfast, so hopefully he's over the worst of it🤞🏼

Well our shitty day on Tuesday was definitely made better last night! Came home to our elderly neighbour stood at the door with a big bunch of gorgeous flowers for us!! My OH had gone round earlier that day to help them with a leak they had and told them about us expecting, so he brought them round to say Thankyou to OH and to congratulate us!! Also told us his wife is knitting us some little bits for the baby!! I started welling up, it proper touched my heart just how kind they are!!

Also got a new appointment on my app this morning, just says the date and time (it's 2 days after my quad blood test which is annoying I wish they could do them on the same day because that's 2 mornings I need off work now) and then it's all abbreviated, it says "JLN OBS" I'm guessing it's my appointment with the anaesthetist but it doesn't say what department, where it is, who it's with etc, so I'm hoping I get a letter too! That's the only downfall to this app, it just isn't detailed enough, with the letter it gives you proper directions of what department, floor etc!

Boob talk, has anyone not noticed any changes with their boobs at all?? My nipples are sore but other than that my boobs haven't grown, my actual boobs aren't even sore, they look exactly the same!

larrythelizard · 27/01/2022 11:20

That's good @Vil10 - delays probably work in your favour anyway right? My boobs have gone up a cup size (would blame it on the weight I've put on but no back size change) and are sore but mainly it's my bullet nipples that are the change!

I'm so impatient to get to 12 weeks next week now, not that I have any big plans to tell (m)any people but it's a good milestone.

Looks like a work away day/night is being organised so think I'll end up telling my boss earlier than I planned...

Haiyaa · 27/01/2022 11:27

OMG that thread @Minster2012, poor thing clearly wants a baby but putting so much pressure to put £50000 away before doing it - and to wait until 35 to try for a first when we all know these things aren’t guaranteed and can be a long tough road. £3000 though…. No wonder she needs to save that much!

Thanks ladies for the toilet comments, yes for a wee/wash. From previous experience following the last c section it would take me ages just to get to the loo let alone go through my ablutions so leaving them isn’t really an option, I would be too anxious. Maybe the midwife will wheel them there and back for me. And yeah @paintfairy, discharging myself has crossed my mind and certainly an option if they try to keep me more than one night in the absence of anything being really wrong!

Oh yes @Kate105, second the vapour plug and also some sterimar baby saline spray (not drops), much better at clearing the muck especially before a feed as they get the mucus going down their throat and trouble breathing making it 1) hard to feed and 2) likely they will vom all over you!

How exciting, 12 weeks scan coming up @larrythelizard! I’m sure it will be grand and you can crack open those muslins! 😂

So weird to be counting down the days, this time next week I should be home with the baby all being well. I am getting a bit (a lot) emosh for DD though still, we’re turning her little life upside down and I just keep worrying she will think she is being replaced 😭😭😭 especially during those first weeks that are just relentless.

whatwonder · 27/01/2022 11:33

@Vil10 that is so sweet of your neighbours! hang on, have I missed something - why are you having an appoint with an anaesthetist at this point? is this for your bloods? Boob talk - i didn't have much change in the first trimester apart from my nipples being really sensitive, also think my boobs looked a bit more veiny than usual. Fast forward to now (nearly 22 weeks) and they have definitely gotten bigger, they are proportionally much bigger than my bump ( a la @Minster2012) nipples are less sore, apart from when it's really cold outside.

whatwonder · 27/01/2022 11:35

@Haiyaa that is so exciting, wild to think of it in that way (this time next week you'll have two kids!) think it's really natural to feel that way about DD, but she will be fine. I know I bang on about this podcast all the time, but Beyond the Bump do a really good episode about growing your family from 1 to 2 and what that transition is like for your firstborn. Might be worth a listen, if nothing else to reassure you that you're definitely not the only person feeling this way!

blackcurrantqueen · 27/01/2022 11:54

@Haiyaa I am recovering ok thank you, taking it very easy but feeling a bit better everyday!
I got lucky this time as I had a side room which had a bathroom so I could basically see her from in there..! Equally they didn't take the catheter out until they could see I was up and about enough to get to the toilet.
And somebody came to our bed to do her checks etc. just ask for help as you definitely don't want to overdo it!
I also really pushed to go home the next day for the same reasons..! I had her at 9am and we were discharged about 4 the next day.
Sorry the steroids were so sore, still think it's mad you have them but I didn't for a days difference!
That final count down is really so so weird. The night before is so surreal!
I was also super emotional for DD and she is getting better with baby everyday. Today she's given her some kisses and cuddles and she's very caring about what's going on with her, but it's such a big deal for them! X

Vil10 · 27/01/2022 12:13

@larrythelizard they do, obviously it's better that we're still in the house but as we thought we'd be moving out sooner majority of our things our boxed up so we're living out of boxes which is annoying!! I wish my boobs would go up a size🙄😂 it's definitely a good milestone!! How exciting!!

@Haiyaa I know it's probably scary for you about DD but she will adapt and she'll love it!! How has she been about becoming a big sister during your pregnancy?

@whatwonder isn't it!! It really made my night!! So I had a discectomy in feb 2020 so it came up in my first midwife appointment, then at my 12 week appointment the midwife said I'll need to be referred to an anaesthetist, she didn't say why or what about, all she said was "further down the line" but I'll only be 15w4d at my app so surely that's not further down the line? I don't really know what will be discussed or anything!! Hahaha boobs like Minster! Maybe ill be a late bloomer😂

becarefuloutthere · 27/01/2022 13:14

@Minster2012 yeah not fun at all! Let's hope the sweeps work. Will find out today how many she can do in a week! Plenty of time to get a car seat still, hopefully they'll be end of winter sales soon! That thread is bonkers, odd woman.
@Haiyaa eek all so soon now! I hope you're ok x
@paintfairy haha I know! How's head today?aren't you taking aspirin by now? I thought that was standard for ivf pregnancies 🤔 should help the curb them.
@Kate105 yeah that's why I think balloon first and then the gel if it doesn't work. Not keen on prolonged hospital stays! Saw midwife today who said it's gel not pessary now, all so conflicting 😖 what's your birth story then? I feel like I missed it!
@Minster2012 so I can get two sweeps in a week so hopefully I can avoid these shit induction options!

Omg this baby is back to being back to back after she turned a quarter on Tuesday 🤦🏾‍♀️ I'm gonna live on my ball now!

Minster2012 · 27/01/2022 13:46

@Vil10 I had an anaesthetic call at 14 weeks straight after my consultant appointment I was shocked too. And yeah my boobs are a law unto themselves, in the by the end of the first trimester they had gone up 2 cup sizes now they are 3 sizes bigger (34H now 🙈) and the nipples are huge & blue & itchy. I said to DH they went from perky growing the 1st trimester to now looking like big mum boobs 😂dog seems fine now, no more sick today

So this coming week will be exciting then, @becarefuloutthere getting close, @Haiyaa meeting your baby & @Crazydoglady123 must be about there plus then lots of scans coming up exciting!! ❤️😊

The thread is bizarre! @Juno231 a few bits is perfectly sane. £3k is not 🤪not when you Siri specifically have a weird "we must save £50k" thing going on.

Crazydoglady123 · 27/01/2022 13:49

Hey ladies! Sorry I will catch up later or deffo tomorrow when I'm sitting around waiting but no sign of a spontaneous labour for me unfortunately so in tomorrow for induction! On a mad one today cleaning the house ready haha!

becarefuloutthere · 27/01/2022 14:32

Eek good luck @Crazydoglady123!! What kind of induction are you having?
