As I'm avoiding doing any of the useful stuff I should be doing I thought I'd just pop another sidecar up x

Argh panic vegan is hard @Minster2012 (although I don't eat dairy or eggs so a sort of meat eating vegan here 🤣). Sounds a lovely day with your friends, I think rotund is a nice word for a pregnant lady! It's what you should be! Bad times on playing nice, got to be worth sucking it up for?!

If it's something that's going to cause you anxiety and you can afford it @paintfairy, then why not?

You can do it @kaylsd, one more to do.

That is very clever from your lad @DKDK123! It's gorgeous how excited he is about it all.

I'm deffo starting to feel better which is a relief, last night I actually cooked dinner from scratch (I felt sick again by the time it came to eating it but that's still a win)

@larrythelizard rotund just makes me think of a fat 19th century mayor with gout 😂 glad you felt a bit better!

Just got my obstetrics appointment through for 10.15 on Wednesday morning - what a heads up hey! Especially as my 12 week blood tests are at 11am so have now had to ask for just all of Wednesday morning off.

paintfairy · 24/01/2022 10:11

@Minster2012 I think you are right. I just wish I could stop worrying! 🤣 And an emergency vegan would go hungry in my house. If you are going to be ridiculous about food and can't be bothered to warm people, you will starve. 🤭
@larrythelizard I can't really afford it for no reason, no. We've got so much house work happening and to pay for. So getting it for the sake of it isn't really practical. But then I didn't want to regret not doing.
@whatwonder OMG. Those people actually shouldn't be having children. Honestly the logic there?! Jesus.
@DKDK123 Awww, tap dancing baby. I can't decide if this is good or not. 🤣 Feeling it yes, but uncomfortable no! DS! 💕 He makes it sound bearable.
@Juno231 no idea about caffeine. Maybe I should split my tea up and see. I have both in the day but maybe I should try having 1 at night. I love tea and I'm missing it so much! Initially I didn't care as it tasted terrible, but now it's fine again. What's that appointment for?
@Vil10 forgot about the nub thing. Mine isn't visible on the pics I have so I can't even get people to guess! Seems about as accurate as flipping a coin mind..... 🤣 I did post on a skull theory page and I got 3 girls and a boy. Again, I won't hold my breath...... 😁

Juno231 · 24/01/2022 10:19

@paintfairy because I need extra attention for my LLETZ and because my laparoscopy found some endometriosis last year. I suspect it just means they'll pay extra attention to my cervix length like for @SWAttempting

SWAttempting · 24/01/2022 10:22

@Juno231 Welcome to the cervix measuring club! 🥳 Hope yours is longer than mine!! 😂

Kate105 · 24/01/2022 10:29

Emergency vegans would also starve in this house @Minster2012 @paintfairy H is a beef/sheep farmer so ain't no way 😂

Happy belated birthday @Juno231 and lovely girl news too ❤️ are you going to pick some adorable Scandi name?

Thanks @DKDK123 I've managed to get a free advice session from an organisation which supports teachers post maternity/paternity leave so curious to see how that goes!

TSD woke up at 3am. Not hungry, just wanted to chat. Had to sit and listen to his banter for an hour before he talked himself back to sleep... WTAF CHILD

paintfairy · 24/01/2022 10:30

@Juno231 ah! Yeah that's what I'm getting too. I'm going back in 2 weeks for that.

whatwonder · 24/01/2022 10:32

@Juno231 tbh these days I am deffo feeling like a fat 19th century mayor with gout, so it seems an apt description to me! 😂

@paintfairy unless you're really panicking about it, I don't think you need to do the nipt. your odds are very low and at the end of the day the nipt isn't diagnostic either so all you would do is go from 1:3500 odds to 1:10,000 odds. You're already starting with extremely low chances, so it's just deciding if spending £300-£500 is worth the comfort of having those odds decrease slightly.

bez91 · 24/01/2022 10:47

@Minster2012 yes not a lot in that theory I don't think 😆 rotund is a nice way of putting it!

Argggh it's hard @Kate105 always such a headache. I do 0.8 but as @DKDK123 says I probably still do 5 days worth of work in 4 days. It's just nice to have a day a week with DD and not have to pay extortionate childcare costs. I've thought about condensed hours over 4 days but too tricky with wrap around care so will stay the same when baby comes along

@DKDK123 your DS is so wise! The jam is a good one 😂 what a super big bro he'll make!

@whatwonder wow just wow that thread. That's why woman get a bad rep for being high maintenance 😆

@paintfairy how long have you had the headaches for now? Caffeine withdrawal?

MIL visited yesterday, bleughh. At least that's done for another month or two. Had a conversation at Christmas, she asked me if I'd "bought all my Johnson's stuff" (it's not the 90s) I said no I won't be as DD had sensitive skin as a baby and I don't get the craze to lather babies in loads of products. So she came yesterday with about 20 products, probably just to piss me off 😆 another charity shop visit pending

larrythelizard · 24/01/2022 10:48

Oh man that sounds typical leap territory @Kate105. I meant to say I think you're in the worst bit - he's no longer a potato baby that doesn't do much but he's not at the point where he can entertain himself at all...add a leap into that where instead of sleeping they wake up for a few hours a night for bants and it's just awful...! Sending solidarity (and shudders for the fact I've chosen to do it again 😂)

I'm a similar age to you I think @paintfairy and I don't think I'd be worried about those odds, easy to say when it's not your baby though.

@Juno231🤣🤣🤣 I did some work with a bloke a few years ago who got gout, he was already ginger and beardy so quite Tudor-esque and I'm not sure he liked it when I started calling him Henry VIII

paintfairy · 24/01/2022 11:06

Catching up with yesterday now....
@larrythelizard yes I'm hoping I can find a balance with DH in the same way. I know early on is different (feeding etc) so it'll be more me. But as time goes on I'm hoping I'll get breaks! And yes they did my blood straight after my 12 week scan. I'm 39 now.
@kaylsd They can do it up to 14 weeks so it should be ok, as long as you haven't jumped massively ahead. Fingers crossed.
@Minster2012 we are getting a lock on the bathroom door..... 🤣 I won't be having bath time ruined. 🤭 And yes the breast feeding might create a velcro child. It is a concern! But then many aren't so maybe it's just whether the child is naturally clingy or not? 🤷‍♀️
@Kate105 ooohhh I would like to live with a beef/sheep farmer! 🤣
@whatwonder I suppose my concern would only be if the nipt odds decreased! If they increased then I've gained nothing. But it's a lot of money.....
@bez91 I've been on only 2 cups of tea since before my ivf in October, so it can't be caffeine withdrawal. I have wondered if its progesterone withdrawal though? As I've been dropping the pessaries. Failing that its just one of those things and I can't be sure it's not coming from my neck. Physically I've never been great. 🤣
MIL sounds great! 🤭 What do people wash their babies in though? That thought has crossed my mind but I've not looked into it yet. It's something on my radar for later.

As for gender- yeah it's hard! I know some people have a preference and some don't. I probably do but I've pointed out to DH that I need to be thankful anything has happened. So many people go through ivf and end up with no baby, so it does seem a bit greedy for me to then start demanding specifics! 🤣 And I'd rather have a healthy baby of any gender than have a specific gender but then have issues in some other way. So I keep telling myself it doesn't matter what it is. And like @2020mission said- once the baby is here you can't imagine it being any other way than from how it is. Be that a boy or girl. I can see pros of cons of both too (later in life). Actually if I am being picky, I also want one that sleeps! 😁 Thanks. 🤣

Juno231 · 24/01/2022 11:11

@larrythelizard hahaha that's brilliant!

@whatwonder you? never 😆

@bez91 omg I see why you call MIL a hag!! I'd be so annoyed

Vil10 · 24/01/2022 11:21

@paintfairy hahaha we're all just bobbing along worrying aren't we! But you are right, I guess nothing can be 100% accurate! I'm definitely not think about the other 2 syndromes as much, as like you say they're a lot less common and I'm guessing will be a lot less risk than the downs one anyway! They said they'll be able to tell at my 20 week scan if there's signs of edwards or pataus which I think is the case for anyone, so that'll be the first time I'll hear anything about those 2! The not knowing is stressful, I suppose it is only 2 weeks until my bloods and even though the quad test isn't as accurate it does give me something to go off, and like you say if it is low risk then you've got to think its right in some respect! Your score seemed low enough not to worry about but I know full well from experience no matter how many times people reassure you to not worry, you will still worry anyway😂
Also I think the whole nub theory and skull theory is just guessing too, only sure way of telling is bloods or seeing their bits!

@kaylsd it's all just old tales isn't it, but suppose it provides some fun!! I didn't ask what the heart rate was this time and she didn't tell me, we were too busy focusing on getting baby to lie properly😂 but the last 2 times it's been 157 and 164!

@DKDK123 Thankyou!! And your DS just sounds the cutest!! Can't stop laughing at him saying she will come out covered in jam, just the purest thing ever😂

@Minster2012 urgh hope today goes well with the neighbours, maybe a little rest when you get home??

@larrythelizard glad you're starting to feel better!!

@bez91 oh she deffo sounds like a hag😂😂

Woke up this morning and my stomach feels so sore and bruised, guessing it's from the scan, the woman was using it at one point to hit my belly to get baby to move into a better position😂😂 but I've woken up feeling a lot more positive and just so thankful that I've made this baby🥺 I'm also waiting on another appointment coming onto my app, they said because of the surgery I had on my back I'll need to see an anaesthetist further down the line, guessing it might be to talk about whether I'll be able to have an epidural etc! When I originally had that surgery the surgeon told me that depending on how my bsck is in the future I may not be able to carry a baby full term or have a natural birth, so not sure whether that will be discussed? I'm not entirely sure really, just going to see when the appointment comes through!

larrythelizard · 24/01/2022 11:39

God I don't know why people like that exist @bez91?! What a random thing to show up with too!

I reckon progesterone related @paintfairy

@whatwonder at least you're in charge if you're a 19th century mayor

I think all the old wives tales said DS was a girl @Vil10 - he clearly isn't! Was quite fun when I was pregnant though.

I've been brave and channelled @DKDK123 and ordered a 'Big Brother loading' T-shirt for DS as part of telling my parents after the 12w scan, should arrive the day before my scan which will work well.

I wouldn't mind @paintfairy but it is shit chat right now 😂😂😂.

Currently having my revenge however and have left the Archbishop of Banterbury outside to continue his nap while I eat my lunch in peace and browse shit on the internet... he's been out for an hour and counting 🙌🏻 pretending I'm a trendy Scandi mum by letting him nap outdoors but actually just too lazy to hoik the pram up the stairs to get it into the house... Watching him from the kitchen window 😂

Kate105 · 24/01/2022 13:35

Sorry should’ve tagged @larrythelizard! Whoops! Too distracted by my short lived freedom 😂

Minster2012 · 24/01/2022 13:54

lunchtime catch up!

@whatwonder OMG I love that thread!! First comment "batshit crazy!" 🤩 BRILLIANT

@Juno231 that's great you've got the booster out of the way without feeling crap but not ideal on the lack of heads up for the appointment

Yessss for the food win @larrythelizard & I can do vegan if I know about prior to shopping! We didn't even have a pasta sauce in she could have with her spaghetti 🍝😂🙈 my friend def meant "pregnancy round" with rotund but like @Juno231 I thought of Henry VIII (now I've just read your comment too and I write that in advance!!)😂I just found it amusing and do feel a bit like a ball now 😂

@paintfairy @Kate105 I did joke to her parents that in the fridge we could serve her freshly shot goose? Partridge? Pheasant? Salmon? And alllll the meats. They were like "don't mention the goose" 😂

@Kate105 how is TSD's bants??? I have to say I laughed in the face of ppl who said "make the most of this time as it's so precious". No. Sleep is precious. Fresh air is THE BEST THING for babies. Enjoy the naps though cos long lunch time naps are very much a thing of the past now & I think wistfully of the 2.5 hour naps he used to have. Ahhhh thems were the days

@bez91 OMG the Johnson's products 🤪that's hilarious. A visit ticked off at least!

@paintfairy you don't wash a baby for the first 10 days, that was the big revelation we got from our antenatal class. Mind blown. But your headaches could def be progesterone withdrawal. I'll also have a sleepy baby 🙏🏻 please!

Boom for waking up remembering how awesome you & OH are for making a baby!!

Well next door neighbour 2 also said no objections to the plans. Yeyyyyyy for successful schmoozing 🥳

paintfairy · 24/01/2022 13:58

@Minster2012 surely the blood needs washing off though? 🤔 And what happens after those 10 days? So many things to learn.....🤣

Minster2012 · 24/01/2022 14:26

@paintfairy cotton wool dipped in water to clean to start with (if I remember right) until the umbilical cord stump falls off then you can bathe them. Be careful, a watery baby is THE slipperyiest of buggers (ok maybe a bit more slippery when covered in jam & sack at birth I guess)

bez91 · 24/01/2022 15:25

@larrythelizard @Kate105 oh yes the waking up for a few hours at night just for banter. I remember that, 😳. Then she'd be a grumpy little sod all day as sleep deprived because she just wanted to lay wide awake for 3 hours for no particular reason!
@Kate105 outdoor naps are the best for longevity I think 😆

@paintfairy I'm sure your DH will be a good un' I think it's just important to be honest and say when you need time out. Ah yes I completely forgot about the progesterone, mine probably coincided with coming off that too! A sleeping baby definitely pips any gender preference 😂

@Juno231 @Vil10 @larrythelizard @minster2021 it's not that I have anything against Johnson's (albeit I did some of my H&S dissertation on the hundreds of lawsuits against them for asbestos exposure through their talc when they knew 😆) BUT it was more the fact I said I couldn't use it with DD so wouldn't with this one and I said in jest something along the lines of people used talc in the 90s because they couldn't be arsed to dry their babies (me and DH both born in 90s) . So yes she bought us loads 🤔

@Minster2012 phew on neighbour number 2, is there any other neighbours to butter up? Oh god yes I'd forgot about slippery babies

larrythelizard · 24/01/2022 15:35

Love an outdoor nap @Kate105!

We bought a shnuggle bath (fondly called the bucket) for DS and that definitely helped with the slippy as you could sort of prop him up @Minster2012 @paintfairy

Loads of talc would be a weird present even if it was something you used @bez91! Sort of like here's a job lot of hand soap!

Good schmoozing @Minster2012, never in doubt I don't think!

OP posts:
Juno231 · 24/01/2022 15:40

@paintfairy nowadays they also swear by leaving the vernix on to soak into the skin rather than cleaning it off straight after birth

@bez91 oh yeah I was just appalled that you said one thing and she did the opposite!

@Kate105 I'm a big believer in outdoor naps 😁. Back home people will literally leave their babies sleeping in prams outside of coffee shops etc - I'm sure that would be deemed to be child abuse here!

becarefuloutthere · 24/01/2022 16:14

Thanks @Minster2012 and @paintfairy I had such a good time but that's it for me now. Staying local until this baby arrives. Hope you had good Sundays?!
36 weeks tomorrow so that makes me officially 9 months right?! 🥳
@feliznavidad2 what did you say to DS then when he asked about the sperm? Have you given him the "sex talk" 😬
@Kate105 how did the pcrs go? Or results not bk yet?
@Juno231 whoop 🙌🏾 yes my love! Welcome to having a girl club when you really want one, it's a fab club to be in 😃😀
Did you have a nice bday? 🎂
@Vil10 I'm glad you're feeling fine on the house front, it's good you know what you want! I loved your announcement btw, so sweet 🥲
A few Pisces on here, I think I remember that from last year with us @2020mission my little one will either be Pisces like me or Aquarius like her dad. I bet she comes on his bloody bday actually 😂 or valentines! How are you and little one?
@Minster2012 I think you look small in your bump pics still but I have noticed the boobies I must say 😝
How'd the neighbour chat go? Scrap that, just continued reading and saw no objections, whoop and a yay to you! 🥳
@whatwonder omg that thread and lol @Juno231 post on it 😂 she does need help tho, I thought my anxiety was bad, jeez!!
@larrythelizard glad you're feeling better today, long may it continue! That T-shirt sounds cute ☺️
@Kate105 ahh hi sleep thief 👋🏾 picture of innocence there eh 😉

feliznavidad2 · 24/01/2022 16:25

Don't talk about slippery babies, DS slid into the bath when he was about 2 weeks old, he was ok but a bit stunned, I then googled it... got terrified about dry drowning and rang 111 for reassurance who sent an ambulance. Cue me weeping that I hadn't just tried to drown my tiny baby. The paramedic was v good with me and said the baby seemed fine, he was more worried about me in my sleep deprived state. Hence this time, I'm going for what @larrythelizard has got or an angelcare thing which we bought after DS's err slip.

Welcome to the girl gang @Juno231 🎉 (it's juice!)

@becarefuloutthere don't ask, DS has gone from bad to worse, he's now asking if it's daddy's sperm that made the baby or 'maybe a different man?' 👀 👀

Anyone craving weird stuff? I wanted all the meat a few weeks ago and today it's veg! Had homemade celeriac soup for lunch and Jamie Oliver's green Mac 'n' Cheese this eve. Bet my bowels will still be stubborn AF.

larrythelizard · 24/01/2022 16:27

@feliznavidad2 last night I almost couldn't sleep because I was craving a bacon sandwich so badly, was trying to listen to an audiobook and I was too distracted! Celeriac soup might save your bowels!
