As I'm avoiding doing any of the useful stuff I should be doing I thought I'd just pop another sidecar up x

@larrythelizard ah I can't decide on the room either! Do people normally go for the room nearest or furthest away 😆

@becarefuloutthere yay baby shower! I hope you have a lot of fun with that! Did you create a baby registry list for it?

Speaking of yoga - OH got me a big bunch of pregnancy yoga and pilates classes + 5 pregnancy massages for my birthday. They start from week 13 so I'm really excited to start!

larrythelizard · 25/01/2022 18:10

We went for the smallest room @Juno231. Sounds a lovely present from your DH, yoga's not really my thing but I might do some pregnancy yoga to find some people to hang about with and their small babies for maternity leave.

I have started a list @Minster2012 - it's all relatively small stuff apart from probably a Moses basket for downstairs. With DS we either used the cot or left him in his nest thing on the coffee table - I want something to keep baby out of the way of DS!

To be fair baby doesn't need a room just yet, just need somewhere to store all their shit/have a decent changing set up. We may yet end up doing the loft sooner than planned which would answer the question!

becarefuloutthere · 25/01/2022 18:34

@Minster2012 just a quarter so she's nearly there bless her 😂
Ah your poor hubby! Anything to do with teeth has all my sympathy! 😬
@Juno231 thank you 😊 I just listed what I had left to buy, only stated where from on two items. Ooh nice one Dh on the yoga and Pilates present classes 👏🏾

Anyone had the balloon induction on here? I'm booked in for that at 40+1 as they don't want me going too far past my due date. Seemed the better option as you get to go home once it's in.

2020mission · 25/01/2022 18:47

@becarefuloutthere I only had the gel for induction. I was 4-5cm 5 hours after they put the gel in and labour progressed on its own from there so didn't get anything else. I had no idea you could go home with the balloon. They don't seem to use the balloon at the hospital I went to it was either the gel or pessary tampon. Hope it goes quickly for you 🤞

bez91 · 25/01/2022 18:56

@larrythelizard 😆 you sound like me! I've had the same thoughts so have bought a sofa bed for the office so people can stay over and baby can have the bigger room when the time comes. It will also come in handy I suppose for the musical bed nights we seem to have with one child never mind two 🙈 we're also on the same page with a Moses basket, don't actually need one but more to keep out of way of DD so she can't pick them up and bug them every few minutes 😂

@Minster2012 saw your IG of DS 🥰 super sweet! Hopefully he'll be as lovely when baby sister is here. I can feel your sympathy for DH 😆 mashed potato all around

@becarefuloutthere literally had to Google a ballon induction, I'm a bit green! I was due to have an induction with DD as my waters and were leaking but things progressed although they never mentioned a balloon induction. What's the purpose of it over gel just that it should get things going quicker?

Minster2012 · 25/01/2022 21:07

@Juno231 we went for closest to us as a baby now the talking is about sending toddler to the furthest away possible 🤪that yoga & massages sounds such a brilliant present! Well done DH 🏆oh god @larrythelizard yes it could find ppl that's a good idea

What the hell is a balloon 🎈 induction??? @becarefuloutthere it either sounds fun or hell

@larrythelizard I'm hoping he'll be sweet, he's proper nesting more than me which is more worrying

I'm trying to think of getting DS a new car seat so that baby can have the one he has in my car. I find looking at stuff like that so stressful. My brain is about as puréed as the food DH needs to eat 🙄

larrythelizard · 25/01/2022 21:37

Car seats are simultaneously boring and complicated though @Minster2012 - we got a new one for the in-laws car and it took me three attempts to order the correct one and correct isofix. Can you not outsource that to DH once he's feeling better?

It's the musical beds that concerns me the most @bez91 - having to sleep in DS' bed is not ideal!

OP posts:
Minster2012 · 26/01/2022 07:37

Are isofix not all the same @larrythelizard I thought that was the point?! DH absolutely useless on that front 🙄

Also got asked by a builder we are talking to last night what kind of staircase we are gonna want & balustrades. Errrrrrrr ask me in a year 😝I just want to 💤

Juno231 · 26/01/2022 08:53

@becarefuloutthere did you choose the balloon? From what I gather it's really rather uncomfortable...

@Minster2012 @larrythelizard ah we have two equal sized bedrooms to choose from - OH is pushing for the one furthest away but that one will be the hotter room and potentially the room that hears the most from the bathroom so I'm thinking it might not be a good idea 🤔

Got my obstetrics appointment and blood draw back to back this morning from 10 am. No idea if I'll need to get my bits out!

paintfairy · 26/01/2022 09:04

@becarefuloutthere still had a headache yesterday. 😫 And yes I suppose December wouldn't have been good for a baby shower either!
@larrythelizard if I don't have a baby buying list, its going to arrive to nothing! The only thing in this house remotely baby related is baby shampoo i once bought to try on the dog. 🤣 Neither do I have a clue what goes on a hospital bag @Minster2012 @Lexber 🤣 And please tell me isofix car seats are all the same?! How the hell do you not just buy a carseat for your child's age and be done with it?!

On the bedroom front- we will use the smaller one. Its currently the office. The back one (we are still sleeping in here until ours is finished, which is seemingly never) was set up as a guest room/clothes drying room. So the plan is to move the office into there, still have room for other things. And then the baby can have the front smaller room. That room is also quieter. Ideally I'd like to put a bed settee in the spare room but I'm not sure if there is space. And no one ever comes anyway. 🤣 It is useful for if DH is ill and snoring etc though.

I also think we need to compile a list of baby dates for the next thread! I can't keep up. I'm not sure who is doing the next thread but I'm happy to compile a list for it (if no one else volunteers?). I'm mindful there isn't much left of this one left so we don't have long! If people want to PM me their due date, and whether you are team 💜, 💙, 💛 (or just too early to find out yet) then I can collate one?
Also I'm not sure if you want a babies already born list too? 🤷‍♀️ We can have one of those also. If you want to be on that then just PM me what month your baby was born and whether it was a boy or girl?

Then hopefully it'll be easier for us to keep track!

larrythelizard · 26/01/2022 09:17

I don't have the greatest memory for all the dates and pink or blue @paintfairy but happy to pop the thread up when needed and add the list you collate? I love a good list, it also helps me not buy anything now as really it's far too early for my brain and also I'll forget what I've got and buy it twice!

Yeah hotter not ideal in the summer @Juno231 but they'll be much more robust for summer 2023 when they're in there (assuming baby will be in with you for this summer). Ooh à bits roulette, how exciting!

@Minster2012 you say that but some of the maxi cosi's only fit certain isofixes depending on if they're forward facing/rear facing/both etc etc! Any more car seats we need to buy will firmly be DH's job. He's very into research and googling things whereas I'm more of a 'oh that has good cash back on Quidco and is a good price, I'll take three!'

Ah yeah it's all the decisions that come with a big project that are hard @Minster2012!

I think it sounds a fab time for a baby shower @becarefuloutthere!

OP posts:
Minster2012 · 26/01/2022 09:23

@Juno231 I'd go for the closer one to you & especially if away from bathroom too. Closer can be double edge sword but in our experience I spent a long time many nights traipsing in and out half asleep so that's why I'd go closer

@paintfairy sent you message over Insta on the due date thing the car seats aren't just for age it's on height now plus a bit of weight (for instance my 3.5 year old is the size of many 5 year olds) but I was banking on isofix being the same 😂I love having a spare room to banish DH to or escape myself if I'm feeling rough so sofa beds all the way

Kate105 · 26/01/2022 09:34

Hello, missed yesterday for an early start with the dentist (yuck) but all good, enjoying the free check ups!

I'm with you @paintfairy I did pregnancy yoga because it was literally the only antenatal thing running and to be honest I suffered through it! Not my thing at all but made a couple of friends out of it. Did not go back for baby yoga, however 😂

I didn't get offered a balloon @becarefuloutthere just the pessary! Sounds good though...

Our setup is smallest and furthest room (ex office) is now the nursery @larrythelizard and we now have a smaller desk in the spare room for H when he's WFH. But baby is in with you for the first few months anyway so you have time!

Sounds good on the list. TSD is an October baby and he is a he 😂💙 I'm feeling very nice about him today because he didn't wake up for bants until 6am this morning which meant he was H's problem 🙌🏻 the deal is he gets anything after 5:30am so I can go back to sleep. Currently his chat is ear splitting dolphin noises so definitely dodged a bullet there!

kaylsd · 26/01/2022 09:35

@vil10 yay for cancelling the IVF appointment, it makes it all feel that little bit more real ❤️ for valentines DH gets me some bits and I tend to get him cheesy cringy things like funny socks ect 🤣 and we always go to miller and Carter for food in the evening 😋 be nice to go this year as lockdowns caused us to get takeaways for last two!
@larrythelizard I would say little room first as they won’t be making purpose of big spaces just yet :)
@minster2021 how cute is your DS with his bears and the nappies, when I saw the pic my heart melted! Hopefully he will be just as cute when the little one comes 🥺
@juno231 good luck with your appointment today :)
@paintfairy I’ll send you a message now although my due date may change between the next thread and the one after fingers and toes crossed for the 12 week scan (well 13 week n half scan on the 10th) goes well anyway 🤞🏻🙈

Just serviced properly from nights, had 13 hour sleep as i was up from 11 yesterday to try reset sleeping at night and I’ll be returning onto days tomorrow😴 so today will consist of washing & ironing and catching up with TV in comfies- currently aiming to watch trigger point & the tourist as I’ve heard good things 🙃 have a great day ladies xx

Juno231 · 26/01/2022 09:36

@Minster2012 I'm thinking same as you on the room then. I also told OH that when we replaster we can get some more soundproof plasterboards on the wall we'd share with the baby just in case. I guess down the line he's worried about them hearing us BD?? Gross

@larrythelizard ah bits roulette sounds like a contender for a TTC bus title doesn't it

@paintfairy the baby shampoo made me laugh 😂 I'll pm you my details, thanks for doing this!

feliznavidad2 · 26/01/2022 09:42

Not sure how to PM @paintfairy Blush but team 💜 and EDD 5/7/22 x

Going for a haircut 💁‍♀️ but will check in properly later.

larrythelizard · 26/01/2022 09:43

Our changing table thing is part of the cot @Kate105 so it makes sense to have it all set it up somewhere. If I end up having a C section again I'll need somewhere to do standing changes as the floor will be sore for a bit.

I suspect DH will get turfed out of his office and baby can go in the nursery. Wonder if it needs redecorating from DS? It's nice and neutral (we painted mountains) but feels a bit sloppy seconds for no 2 🤔

Also have a giant child here @Minster2012 - he's big enough (and very nearly heavy enough) to go in a high backed booster but nowhere near old enough for that and he's only just over 2.5!

😂😂😂 @Juno231 it's deffo quieter in this house these days although when DS is asleep there's little that wakes him (even falling out of bed last night didn't fully wake him). Also, downstairs 😉

Lexber · 26/01/2022 09:53

@Minster2012 you guys should be good for a few weeks yet on hospital bags - I've been told to have mine ready by 30 weeks... I'm 25 today! Eeek!
Plus after my unexpected stay at 15 weeks due to a bleed I would be glad to have mine ready as when oh came home to get me some things I ended up with my eldest (nearly 15) daughters size 10 pants 🤣 tbh they were black like mine but come on... good job I asked for 2 pairs so I had spares as one fit me - I'm usually a 14/16 🤣🤣 X is practicing to come look after my twins haha

@Juno231 the yoga sounds lovely - I can only just reach my feet to put shoes on 🤣

@becarefuloutthere what's the balloon method - never heard of that one?

I have no idea how to PM on here - using phone, so I will add mine here @paintfairy EDD 11.05.22 but will be about 20.04.22 as 37 weeks so I'd use that date. 💖💙 I will start the list with one of each lol to make it level to start with 🤣
I feel clueless with hospital bags at minute - I've been screen shotting other peoples lists from my twins Fb group 🤣🤣🤦🏽‍♀️

Vil10 · 26/01/2022 10:12

@larrythelizard ooo posh muslins!! Where from?? Do tell! Definitely famous last words, you will not just buy a changing bag😂

@becarefuloutthere well done on working until this long! Definitely weird saying it out loud, it still feels weird talking about it openly to friends, like it should still be a secret😂 ohh yess actually I remember you saying about DH birthday being near Valentine's Day last year!! God we've been on this thread long😂

@paintfairy had a little look at the skull theory and mines a bit of both so I gave up, then moved onto trying to see if I could make out the liquid because the babies neck, like I'm some sort of professional and I actually know what I'm looking at?😂 good idea on the list, my EDD is 01.08.22 and team 💛

@Minster2012 definitely inwards and upwards!! So so cute of DS!! He's obviously excited!

@Juno231 what a good present from OH!! I've been meaning to sign up to pregnancy yoga but haven't got round to it yet, I've never been into yoga and I'm not flexible at all, but told myself I'll give it a go!

@kaylsd id like to think so but I think because my symptoms have eased it still hasn't sunk in!! I've never been to Miller and Carter but always wanted to try it!! Im sure you'll have a lovely time!! Can't believe you only get 1 day between night and day shifts!! You'd just want to rest wouldn't you!

So we had a right day of it yesterday, basically the solicitor we have is shit and OH is having to do everything for the house that the solicitor should be doing , OH has been telling work he needs a new truck as his is the oldest one and keeps having problems with it, anyway on his way home last night the steering completely went and the truck went stiff, he had to abandon the van and get someone to pick him up, thank god it was a quiet road because he said the truck was going everywhere, then he got home and next door have had a plumber in and he's done something and somehow they have a massive leak and it's flooding until the road, the street drain has blocked so the water is pissing out of it now, then our dog was really ill last night, there's a dog virus going round in local towns near us, luckily only our eldest dog is ill and not both, but was throwing up all night, so OH opted to sleep downstairs to look after him, made a joke thst he's getting some practice in😂 anyway he came to bed at 4 saying he hadn't slept all night, the dog seemed better this morning but I dropped him off at OH's mums on my way to work so hopefully he's over the worst of it🤞🏼

Minster2012 · 26/01/2022 10:23

Def gonna leave hospital bag for now @Lexber and oooooo 5 weeks though for you! I want to get past that magical viability date too this weekend

@larrythelizard we put DS in a high backed booster but one with a 5 point harness in DH's car at 3 when his seat needed changing, that was due to height & weight. Oh god the changing unit thing this is what we need to think about & DH will find it so dull 😂cos currently DS is still using the chest of drawers which is the changing unit (the top flicks over to make a chest of drawers top) & he's using the shelf unit & toy chest. It all matches the wardrobe & cotbed which is in storage. So do we make DS give up his drawers? Bearing in mind rooms including his aren't going to be decorated before then. As like you we need a high changing unit for c section & DH's height)
When we had DS we had him & the changing unit in our room so likely do that again. Argh so dull 🤪

@feliznavidad2 ooooo enjoy your hair appointment

@Juno231 soundproof stuff wow I've not heard of that! We may have not worried about that 😂

@kaylsd woooooo for recovery!!! Hope you enjoy the binging (I'm currently watching celebrity dating agency crap whilst looking like I'm working), have to say we didn't like the tourist 😬

@Kate105 🐬🐬🐬🐬loving the bants and the 6am wake up that's decent!! Boom! Was there a party in the night too? Def gonna look into preg yoga, I guess I might be too late now though

larrythelizard · 26/01/2022 10:42

Ah yeah same here in that DS' current bed and some of his shelves need to be put back together to build the cot so he needs a new bed and stuff @Minster2012 - I was tempted by a cabin bed as I think he'd enjoy a little den underneath but have come to the conclusion he's too little still (he falls out of his current single bed despite having a bed guard on...)

OP posts:
Vil10 · 26/01/2022 10:52

So I haven't been looking at my rhr at all these last few weeks, I kinda forgot about it, just checked it now and it's at the lowest it's been since my BFP, it's at 65 and it's only been that twice throughout, I'm being ridiculous for even thinking about worrying aren't I??

whatwonder · 26/01/2022 10:55

ahh struggling to keep up with everything!

I also have no clue what to put on a baby list or in a hospital bag but telling myself I have ages still, and I reckon that it's better to err on the side of less is more (especially with baby stuff) as it's easy enough to buy things when you know you need them. Hospital bag I will likely overpack cos rather have extra than not enough. Good chance I bring loads of snack for myself and then forget something crucial like nappies for the baby Grin they have those at the hospital, riiiiight??

Also lol'ing at the convo around which room the baby will sleep in. Ours will be in the 2nd bedroom, which will also still have to serve as DH's office, and the make shift laundry and storage room (#London).

@Juno231 I've been doing pregnancy yoga since the start of my second trimester and I'm loving it - especially now as my back and hips have started to get sore, I find it really helps. Do make sure you're going easy on some of the twists and stuff though, with the relaxin your body is producing, it's easy to overdo it.

@Minster2012 that is so sweet of your son!

@Lexber really not long to go now is it! can't believe you're already 25 weeks, I'm thinking back to you at that festival with a tampon in your pocket :)

@paintfairy I'm team yellow, EDD 05/06/2022 x

2020mission · 26/01/2022 11:11

@paintfairy nice idea to add all the due dates to the next bus. It will make it much easier to follow 👍 if you do decide to add babies already here, mines is 27/12/21 💙

2020mission · 26/01/2022 11:12

@Vil10 my resting heart rate stayed low/normal for me until the last trimester, so please don't worry!
