So. Today i am 8w pregnant (deffinately pregnant as all blood tests confirm. But, i have now had 3 scans, all transvaginal, and they cant find my baby.

They were testing me for ectopic but said with my HCG levels its starting to look unlikely its that.

Im due for another scan at 8w5d and hoping to find someone whos had a similar situation who can give me some hope.

Im really hoping they can find a little heartbeat in there somewhere!

Bumping for you as I have no experience of this.

girlmom21 · 13/10/2021 14:45

Hopefully the pregnancy is just earlier on than they're expecting it to be. I'd still expect them to be able to see something but maybe the raised HCG levels are being caused by something else.

I really hope you get some good news soon x

I had been tracking my cycles and taking ovulation tests, so my dates shouldnt be too far off. Im getting so nervous of my scans now, either because i could end up still not seeing anything, or not seeing what we want to see. But i cant find anyone thats had the same experience to see what their outcome was.

I don't mean to offend, just curious, are you a bigger girl? Only my friend is 19 stone and they couldn't find her baby for a while either. Nothing to worry about though- all was fine :)

KJE3112 · 13/10/2021 15:27

No offence taken! I am a slightly bigger girls yes. Do you know by any chance if they were vaginal scans your friend had and still struggled to find baby? Im glad to hear everything was okay tho!

What level was your HCG when you last had a blood test?

KJE3112 · 13/10/2021 15:35

My HCG was about 16000 ish at about 7w5d i think, theyve decided to stop blood tests as apparently HCG arent helping them anymore 🤷‍♀️

Ok, high enough to see something then. They usually say 1000 or above is when the baby can be seen by ultrasound.
Doubledoorsontogarden · 13/10/2021 15:45

Mine was same, hospital advised I shouldn’t travel on holiday as HCG levels high and no baby on screen. I went on holiday, came back, scan around 10 weeks and baby in the right place.

KJE3112 · 13/10/2021 15:51

Thats amazing! Did they give any reason as to why they couldnt find baby before hand?

marykitty · 13/10/2021 15:53

Hello OP,
I was classified as miscarriage at 7 weeks because they could see the sack but it was empty.
When I went in again at 8 weeks to evaluate options (surgery, waiting approach etc), the baby was there!!!! I am now 37 weeks pregnant.

In my case they said it could be due to my retrovertes uterus. My baby was measuring also 5 days behind (which could be considering I have PCOS).

Finger crossed for you!

My colleague who was pregnant at the same time as me had 2 uteruses! They struggled to find the baby until they realised they were looking in the wrong one.

Funnily enough, I was telling my sonographer this story while I was being scanned and we discovered I had a bicornuate uterus too and my baby was right up in the right horn.

KJE3112 · 13/10/2021 15:58

@marykitty theyve mentioned something to me about maybe having a different shaped uterus which maybe the reason its harder to see, but they wont confirm anything atm. Im so happy for you though, that must have been a bit of a rollercoaster ride! Hoping i het some good news soon! Thank you!

I have a retroverted uterus and it made it tricky to find the embryo for a long time. But, it turned into a baby I am cuddling on my lap!

Doubledoorsontogarden · 17/10/2021 10:38

I also have a strange shape cervix and tilted womb, might have been that

finallyfoundmyself · 17/10/2021 10:47

This happened to me, couldn't find the pregnancy transvaginal scan but HCG same day were a massive 20,000. All looked bad. Had bleeding a week later there was baby all healthy. I'd had a large hematoma that hid the pregnancy, when it burst baby was visible. Have my fingers and toes crossed for you

romdowa · 17/10/2021 10:49

Early on in my pregnancy I was told it might be hard to find the baby because I had a tilted and narrow uterus. So they waited until over 8 weeks to scan me.

KJE3112 · 17/10/2021 10:54

Thank you everyone! Im in for an 8w5d scan tomorrow and im really keeping my fingers crossed! Ive been having some really light bleeding very occasionally, but my nurse says its nothing to be worried about. Just want to see a littlw heartbeat!

Hopefully they'll see it tomorrow!

Phyllis321 · 17/10/2021 11:53

I have a tilted cervix AND a bicornuate womb and it was hard to find DS in the early weeks.
They’re surprisingly common so it might just be that, OP.

grace1991 · 17/10/2021 22:48

Any news? Hope you're ok. Xxx

Immaculatemisconception · 17/10/2021 22:52
