So. Today i am 8w pregnant (deffinately pregnant as all blood tests confirm. But, i have now had 3 scans, all transvaginal, and they cant find my baby.

They were testing me for ectopic but said with my HCG levels its starting to look unlikely its that.

Im due for another scan at 8w5d and hoping to find someone whos had a similar situation who can give me some hope.

Im really hoping they can find a little heartbeat in there somewhere!

I am so sorry OP, this is so very stressful.

I cannot add anything more to what the pp have said, but here for a hand hold. Flowers

Are you sure you are 8w before 6w it can be difficult if not impossible to see baby, I had to go back with my first pregnancy because they couldn’t see anything. Second internals scan a few days later they saw the little pin prick on the screen. He’s 7 years old and hard to miss!

Pipsquiggle · 18/10/2021 13:15

I am so sorry you are going through this, particularly on your own. I think you need to to prepare yourself for the worst scenario.

Is this your first pregnancy?

Has a 'missed miscarriage' been mentioned?

I am really hoping I am wrong but this sounds like my 1st pregnancy which ended in a miscarriage.

I had a positive test, pregnancy symptoms, slight cramping and very light bleeding. Unfortunately the pregnancy soon ended.

Sending you lots of love OP Flowers

Sorry you're going through this. Thanks

I had this too. Pregnancy of unknown location. In the end they found a sac which wasn't developing. I should have been around 8/9 weeks. I had to have an MVA and fell pregnant again two months later...she's now 1.

Hope it all works out.

rhowton · 18/10/2021 13:28

Do you have a titled womb? I had to have a transvaginal scan even for my 20 weeks scan, and my BMI was 25.

ApplesAreTheBaneOfMyLife · 18/10/2021 13:40
I'm sorry you are going through this @KJE3112.
Honestly your pregnancy sounds like a complete molar pregnancy. Did they mention this to you?
I went through the same at 7 weeks but I miscarried on my own.
Here's the nhs link with some extra info
www.nhs.uk/conditions/molar-pregnancy/
That was my first thought too, because your hcG levels are high.

It’s worth asking them to check for this. I had a partial molar pregnancy a few years ago and am more than happy to answer any questions if I can help.

So sorry you are going through this. Flowers

WhoUsedMyName · 18/10/2021 13:51

Op I'm so sorry you are going through this. So basically there has to be a pregnancy but you just don't no where. I don't think I could terminate yet either not until I knew 100000% it was viable

FindingMeno · 18/10/2021 13:59

I really hope someone will come and talk you through everything soon, because you need a whole lot more information.
I really feel for you Flowers

Staryflight445 · 18/10/2021 14:52

Ah this is awful. I’m a bigger lady- size 18. I had an abdominal scan at around 8 weeks and we saw baby fine. I think it’s concerning they can’t see anything vaginally as usually if tummy is an issue that fixes that issue.

Hopefully your blood results will be a clearer indication of what’s going on. Best of luck op x

KJE3112 · 18/10/2021 15:34

Im back home, with no updates yet, i had to leave to pick my daughter up from school (so this is my second pregnancy) they are hopefully going to call me with my blood results. I am prepared for what might happen, and i know things arent looking great, i just dont want to give up just yet, while theres still a little hope.

@ApplesAreTheBaneOfMyLife i havent been told my HCG levels are high? Ive been told, theyre raising quickly, raising ro slowly, and my levels are too low, but not that theyre high .... feel like i get something different from each person i speak to?

It sounds like a blighted ovum? There's no reason next time won't be perfectly fine.

Sorry but the thought of OP having a titled womb has made me laugh. Really good typo.

Hope you get a definitive answer OP. You must be stressed.

Lougle · 18/10/2021 17:07

I'm sorry you're having this uncertainty. I wouldn't want to terminate without solid reasons either. But with an HCG of 16000 you'd expect to see something.

KJE3112 · 18/10/2021 17:25

Got my blood results back, my HCG levels are rising normally, theyre not too high, or too low. But, because of the scans, theyve decided its a non-viable pregnancy and i have to go back in tomorrow. Theyve told me theyre not considering other options, they want me to terminate, so they can biopsy to see what the problem is.
Would never want another pregnant woman to be spoken to the way i have regarding their pregnancy, viable or not. When i asked if it was a normal rise, he replied with "your not having another scan" and when i started getting upset, he started telling me about the "biopsy of the terminated foetus" ....

This isn’t right.

I would ask for a second opinion or go to a different hospital.

On one hand they are saying they cannot visualise a pregnancy in the uterus but on the other are talking about biopsies of the fetus? I would seek another opinion.

anotherDayofThis · 18/10/2021 17:28

Did they give you a scan image at all or a scan report ?

anotherDayofThis · 18/10/2021 17:30

Sorry to ask this as well but what are they recommending for a termination ? Medical or surgical ?
I would have thought with rising hcg levels and no visible pregnancy they would actually be doing an operation to check this is not ectopic or situated elsewhere (did you have a c section previously?)

dotoallasyouwouldbedoneby · 18/10/2021 17:32

When it happened to me, I had a 'd and c' the next day under general anaesthetic and the consultant couldn't have been nicer. The first junior doctor I saw was a bit useless though, there was a bit of a language barrier and he kept using the 'abortion' word instead of 'missed miscarriage'. Seems like some of them are still clueless about the emotional impact.
Chances are your next pregnancy will be fine. The biopsy was done in my case too but showed nothing. It just happens sometimes.

KJE3112 · 18/10/2021 17:34

@anotherDayofThis theyve given me nothing, wouldnt let me look at the screen either while they were scanning me, im going in tomorrow to see a supervisor, im taking my partner with me this time too so i have someone on my side. Theyve also told me they cant see anything, but its deffinately in my uterus.

dotoallasyouwouldbedoneby · 18/10/2021 17:35

Is there an empty sac visible?

dotoallasyouwouldbedoneby · 18/10/2021 17:37

I think I would ask to see a consultant in your position.

KJE3112 · 18/10/2021 17:37

@dotoallasyouwouldbedoneby theyve told me theres no signs of pregnancy visable, but it is a pregnancy within the uterus. I have no idea how theyve come to that conclusion.
