Just a quick question I've got my booster vaccine tomorrow morning, I've put it off for a few weeks to read up on it during pregnancy. I've had loads of people tell me it's safe including the midwife. Has anyone had their booster yet and what's everyone's thoughts? X

fattycatty82 · 02/11/2021 20:16

@KMHH I'm due mine in January and I'll definitely be having it. My personal view is that it's safe xx

TashieWoo · 02/11/2021 21:29

I haven’t been offered a booster but if I was I’d absolutely have it.

I wasn’t fussed either way about finding out the gender, in some ways I wanted it to be a surprise but DP really wants to find out (and MIL even more so she can start buying things bless her) so I’ve agreed to. I think it’s important for DP to have his say in this as he is super supportive and it isn’t all about me!

I’m 14+2 now and we’ll be having a private scan at 17 weeks to find out. The place where we go will do a ‘4D sneak peek’ then as well so that’ll be interesting.

We won’t be having a big gender reveal though, I understand why people do but it isn’t my cup of tea!

Sarah239 · 03/11/2021 07:58

Think my booster will be in Feb and I will have it I think. Luckily had second dose the month before I fell pregnant so good timing.

My husband had possible covid exposure on Sat so waiting to see if he has caught it :/ I'm praying not as then we will have to isolate and postpone dating scan. It's already at 13+3 so worried if it's moved any later they won't be able to do screening because of nuchal translucency. The wait for scan is killing me enough as it is...! So far testing negative 🤞

We do plan on finding out gender at 20 weeks, it's just a personal thing we want to know. Just like the idea of imagining a boy or a girl in there and think it will help us connect. We have been waiting so long for this pregnancy that we have allowed ourself this!

Do we need a Thread 3 soon? Limit of 1000 I think and we are at 980 posts?

Bubbasmama2017 · 03/11/2021 09:53

@Sarah239 I hope it's negative! It's scary enough being pregnant without covid hanging over us Sad

GinnyBee · 03/11/2021 10:18

I would love to be offered a booster! I would definitely get it, Pfizer and Moderna should be safe from early data following thousands of pregnant women in the US being given the vaccination.

I think we'll find out the sex at the 20 week scan if baby collaborates, but it's not essential for us to know. I don't want to tell anyone else though until the birth. Some secrets should stay between just us, and I don't want to drown in gendered pink or blue stuff that my husband's grandmother would undoubtedly buy us.

fattycatty82 · 03/11/2021 10:52

Does anyone feel a bit wary about how they change your dates? I know the date of my last period so I'm pretty sure my due date of 22nd May is right... I'm going to be a bit miffed when I go for the scan and they try and change it to something else because this could potentially have implications further down the line. At 39, I know they tend to be keen to induce if baby is late with older mums because of potential risk of stillbirth etc... And surely babies are just different sizes anyway? Just because one measures a certain size in the womb doesn't mean it's that fair along... does anyone else share my concerns?

Sarah239 · 03/11/2021 12:03

@fattycatty82 my understanding is that 12 weeks is the most accurate measurement they can take as baby is big enough by then to get a good measurement but not late enough that the natural higher/lower growth rate of a small/big baby would interfere. So the EDD won't change after the 12 week dating scan. I think it's the most accurate measurement they can go by and takes precedence over LMP as fertilisation/implantation can happen with a bit of variation. I do understand your concerns about induction/intervention too, I am keen to avoid that! It's a long way away for us though so I'm trying not to think about it yet and cross that bridge. At the end of the day the date the NHS will go with and out down for you is out of your control. But my sister argued to wait longer though (with monitoring) and ended up having my nephew (second child) 16 days overdue without induction (they normally induce no later than 14 days). She was advised against it but had a bad induction experience with her first child. At the end of the day it's still your consent needed to be induced.

fattycatty82 · 03/11/2021 12:50

@Sarah239 thank you for that, it's helpful. I think that's a good point too, that we get the last say and it is up to us. I've just read The 'no guilt pregnancy plan' by Rebecca Schiller which reminded me of that. But like you say, it's all a long way off yet... x

Minster2012 · 03/11/2021 12:56

@KMHH sorry this is late, I had my booster jab on Friday, as I'm vulnerable. (I actually got invited on 15th oct but had my flu jab so left it a week) All 3 of my specialist teams plus my midwife told me to get it ASAP I was about 10 and a half weeks when I had it. I think it's safe. I had AZ for my other two but had pzizer this time.

I will also be finding out gender but not doing a reveal or party or anything. DH isn't bothered but I'd like to know

YummyMummyXoX · 03/11/2021 22:07

Had my scan today EDD 16th May. Hope everyone is well feel like I'm one of the last to finally get my scan kept seeing so many cute pics x

@YummyMummyXoX due date buddies!

Has anyone else woken up this morning to about 50 emails from Mumsnet saying there's a new message on this thread or is it just mine?

YummyMummyXoX · 04/11/2021 09:27

@robyna Awh that's cute! And no emails here x

morphe · 04/11/2021 09:43

@YummyMummyXoX lovely scan pic!

I'm due to get a booster in a few weeks and I'll be getting it if offered. I want to feel comfortable getting out and about and maybe travelling so I want to be protected as much as possible.

We found out the gender (girl) through our NIPT. We're looking at schools for our older DD right now, so it's been worth knowing from a practical point of view as some of the options are single sex.

I took my DD to a trampoline park the other day as we needed a rainy day activity - that was a shock for my pelvic floor! GrinBlush. Definitely need to commit to doing more kegel exercises!

YummyMummyXoX · 04/11/2021 12:27

Thanks @morphe hope your pregnancy is going well with your baby girl x

acupofteamakeseverythingbetter · 04/11/2021 15:45

@YummyMummyXoX lovely scan picture. My 12 weeks scan is still 2 weeks away. I'm getting impatient lol but we did have 9 week scan a few weeks ago so that has kept me going 🥰

YummyMummyXoX · 04/11/2021 16:02

@acupofteamakeseverythingbetter it does come around quickly I remember mine being 3 weeks away and it flew! I'll look out for your update Smile x

Bubbasmama2017 · 04/11/2021 18:55

This is very gross and TMI maybe but I'm really suffering with gas and bloating today. Constantly burping and farting! It's awful! Anyone else had this? I'm 13+2

GinnyBee · 04/11/2021 20:47

@Bubbasmama2017 Yes! Belching all day! It had stopped for a couple of weeks and the bloating went down, but came back two days ago. I feel so full all the time that I can barely think about eating anything, and last night all I managed was a couple of bites of my dinner, and this morning all I could eat was a few spoonfuls of natural yoghurt and blueberries. Normally I'd be starving as soon as I wake up if I didn't have dinner! I'm 11+4.

Bubbasmama2017 · 04/11/2021 22:08

@GinnyBee I'm not sure what's brought it on again. I also have that too full feeling but if I don't eat the sickness and nausea becomes 10 x worse. Catch 22!

acupofteamakeseverythingbetter · 05/11/2021 13:41

@Bubbasmama2017 @GinnyBee same here for me! If I don't snack constantly I feel sick but when I eat I feel sooo bloated!!

Bubbasmama2017 · 06/11/2021 18:55

@acupofteamakeseverythingbetter have you found any foods that help? The gas and bloating is generally what makes me throw up the most. Some days I look 6 months pregnant as well but it's all just horrible bloating. A pharmacist told me to eat a "good diet" but I'm so off most vegetables and fruit is making me throw up now as well.

fattycatty82 · 07/11/2021 11:19

It's so hard to 'eat well' when you feel like you can only stomach certain things! I have hot water with slices of lemon for bloating which helped a bit in the evening. I don't mind chopped apple and banana either. Other than that it's dried crackers and crisps and more crisps 🤦‍♀️ 12 weeks today so planning a proper shop later and can hopefully start cooking again this week 🤞

acupofteamakeseverythingbetter · 07/11/2021 15:47

@Bubbasmama2017 the only thing is for me to eat small portions really. If I eat anything too big I feel so uncomfortable. So I just eat 5-6 small portions
