@Jeffers5

I have but had no mention of it needing to move, only that it's not coverih the cervix so ok.

I think I'll need to make a special point of asking about it.

Can you ring your midwife to ask?

Jeffers5 · 12/01/2022 14:29

@PrettyPlatapus
They said that it needs to be clear of the cervix by 2cm and at the 32 week mine was 1.6mm away, so they’ve got to check it’s moved enough out of the way.
Are they monitoring you at all, or letting it happen the way it happens?

CucumberCool · 12/01/2022 16:17

I'm having extra growth scans anyway and have another on the 19th but assume as no one has properly talked to me about me (sonograoher mentioned it in passing) I assume it's over 2cm...will double check though.

Fingers crossed you get those extra 4/5cm of movement.

My baby keeps swapping which side she's lying on and has nearly constant hiccups! I'm hoping this will wiggle the plaenta further up and not down..

laalaaleelee · 13/01/2022 13:10

@PrettyPlatapus it's my first too and I know exactly what you mean. I finish work this week and it still hasn't really sunk in.

I've been passed back and forth between various midwives as they're changing how they run. They've been mentioning classes throughout but have never materialised. Any idea how I can book on some? Zoom is fine. Are they free or paid?

CucumberCool · 13/01/2022 21:42

@laalaaleelee

I've paid for these, they are very reasonably priced and so so worth it! I've signed up for a package but you can pick and choose the courses which suit you if the packages don't suit.

The woman who takes them is great, loads of experience, down to earth and pretty funny. No question is a silly question and her style is really engaging.

I also have signed up and attended an online breastfeeding course with La Lache Leauge which is free (or a donation) and over two days. Really informative, small group so interactive and an opportunity to learn more about local groups to get in with other mums in my local area..

Sorry to hear you've had a disjointed midwife experience, I've found them a great source of info and have been great at explaining and putting my mind at ease.

Will you have a 34 week apt at your chosen hospital with their midwife rather than community? If so, mine was an hour (turned into hour and half) and was really informative about the process on the big day. I asked lots of questions.

Your hospital may also do free antenatal classes so may be worth bugging them about it until you get signed up!

BabyFeb22 · 14/01/2022 07:07

@PrettyPlatapus thank you! Scan was great, still got to go back in another 2 weeks as her femur is now on the bottom line not the middle line like at 20 weeks but they have no concerns and just think she'll take after me the height (lack of it) department. Am not being checked weekly for preeclampsia though! Has made me finally tell work I'll be finishing at the end of month so realising I only have 2 weeks lifer to work is starting to make it feel more real!

becarefuloutthere · 14/01/2022 10:26

Anyone else's baby lying back to back? Mine is 🙋🏾‍♀️ 34+3 and only now just getting on the ball 🙈 hoping she moves by my scan at 36 weeks!

CucumberCool · 15/01/2022 07:58

@becarefuloutthere
Yeah I'm 35+6 and was the same last time midwife gave me a squeeze. She said not to worry as they often turn last minute. I think mine turns 4-5 times a day anyway!!

feb2022 · 15/01/2022 08:14

@PrettyPlatapus mine flips all the time too, she was breech a few weeks ago, now she's head down and I'm pretty sure she's trying to flip over again because when she's got hiccups they are getting higher & higher up
My first was breech aswell and I remember feeling his hiccups very high up near the ribs 😅

BabyFeb22 · 15/01/2022 08:25

My little one loves flipping, pretty sure she just enjoys my ribs haha!! Has anyone had any experience with pre-eclampsia? I ended up in hospital a few days ago with dehydration due to being constantly sick out of nowhere! It was the same day I had my growth scan so they put me on a drip in a&e and then let me go for my scan in the afternoon, I had protein in pee so she did bloods as well just in case it was dehydration causing it. Hospital called me back and said yes protein was high but at the moment by blood pressure is okay- told me symptoms to look out for, swelling, headaches ect... I woke up in the night with a splitting headache but it seems all in sinuses, ive suffered sinus issues for years and have been in the house the last few with the heating on basically all the time which does always cause my sinuses to get worse. I'm not sure if I'm seeing way to much into this headache or not! I now have to have weekly check ups but not due until end of next week so don't know if im stressing myself out for nothing! Any help would be very much appreciated xx

@BabyFeb22 sorry you've been so sick, sounds horrible. I had protein in my urine a few weeks back, but my blood pressure was the high end of normal range so they said the same as to you - what to look out for etc. The last couple times I've gone in for checks they've looked at my hands and face etc, and there's been no swelling and no protein in my urine. Hopefully it'll be the same as for you. They put it down to dehydration / a one off I think. However if you've had a headache or any vision changes, I think for peace of mind I'd give a call and just let them know. They might get you in a bit earlier than a week and repeat the tests

Jellybean023 · 15/01/2022 11:44

@becarefuloutthere yes mine was at my last scan (32 weeks). I have another scan this week at 36 weeks so hoping he’s moved but not sure he has to be honest. I’ve heard they do often flip at the last minute.

@babyfeb22 with my last pregnancy my blood pressure was creeping upwards from about 35 weeks but was only borderline so they weren’t too worried. I did have a small amount of protein in my urine towards the end too. When my waters broke blood pressure was high enough that they kept me in overnight to monitor rather than send me home and in delivery it really spiked to the point they were quite worried. I’m taking aspirin this time round and checking my blood pressure regularly at home now. It’s creeping up again but still not in the “too high” range. It was only when I saw my consultant this time round that he described my previous experience as pre-eclampsia - I’d always just thought it was high blood pressure.

Enwi · 15/01/2022 12:49

Hello everyone! Could I join? Due 13th Feb. I had a growth scan at 34 weeks which suggested baby was 5lb 3oz. That sounded like a great weight to us as my eldest was born at 36 weeks and was only 5lb 7oz, but I’m wondering if maybe it’s a bit on the low side from what others have said…

I’m 36 weeks tomorrow. Would really like to get to 38 weeks, but not go too far past that Grin

CucumberCool · 15/01/2022 16:51

@Enwi
Welcome enwi! I'm due 14th with my first. 😬

MollyQueenOfSocks · 15/01/2022 17:21

My boy likes to turn from side to side, he has always been a diagonal baby, never feels to face towards the back! Loves sticking his massive butt out at far as he possibly can at the moment.

As for the pain I have been in, I've finally been given a csection date brought forward by 3 weeks! Baby boy will be here on 28th so just under 2 weeks time Grin I'm on the morning list too so pretty happy I won't have to worry about sitting around not eating in the daytime.

Pain is still there of course but mentally it means I feel so much better. Spent a lot of today madly nesting and feeling really restless, so hoping that stops and I can make the most of relaxing too.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 15/01/2022 17:31

I was at the hospital yesterday for reduced movements but all seems fine. Had to be scanned today and the baby has now moved to a transverse position from being in the perfect position all the way through.
The measurements are a bit worrying though, huge head and stomach (at full term size - I'm 35wks) but the legs haven't grown since my last scan a few weeks ago so are now under 50th centile.

There's still no midwife appointments available until after I give birth, so I will have to push for the day unit to see me. It's a high risk pregnancy and im supposed to be seen every two weeks but I've only had 3 midwife appointments throughout the whole pregnancy (1 in the last few months).

@PrettyPlatapus @Jellybean023 thanks ladies! Let's hope these wriggly babies keep flipping about and then stay in the right place! 😅
@MollyQueenOfSocks yay to a c section date, how exciting!!
@PissedOffNeighbour22 how frustrating for you, defo keep pushing to be seen. Not that you should have to! Can't believe how stretched they are that you can't be seen until birth!!

Sleepyquest · 16/01/2022 13:32

Anyone else just patiently waiting and wondering when it's all going to kick off? Grin

becarefuloutthere · 16/01/2022 16:08

@Sleepyquest yeah it does feel a bit like that at times. Especially when ppl keep asking me if I think she'll come early or not...how the hell do I know 🤷🏾‍♀️ 🤪

Sunshine8888 · 16/01/2022 16:16

@Sleepyquest yep! 37 weeks today and very ready for baby’s arrival!
