@SouthwestSis not sure when the scan is yet as midwife calling me back tomorrow once she's spoke to them.

@catinthehat12 Yeah I'm not too worried really as my bump does seem to have gone from at the sides to now all at the front which means my love handles seem to got smaller which I suppose is always a bonus!

Just hoping I manage to get some maternity time in before she comes, 100% made me realise I need to actually sit down and properly think about when I finish work!

AtomicSquash · 07/01/2022 08:00

I am really struggling to decide when to finish work too. Last time round I finished at 37 weeks but went on to be induced at 40+10 so I had a whole month off and by the end of it I was so bored! But then again I wouldn't want to risk not having any time off before the birth either. It seems like such a gamble...

Hope2022 · 07/01/2022 14:44

It’s hard to know when these babies will arrive, but I wouldn’t advise working a few days before baby arrives. With #1 I finished work Tuesday and baby was in my arms Sunday. I was worried about being bored at home and did plan to work until the Friday that week but my body had other ideas! A week or two to myself to get ready and relax would have been quite beneficial! :) Hindsight is a lovely thing. This pregnancy I’m working from home for myself so it’s easier to take it easy as opposed to FT secondary school teacher the first time around with a good hour/2 commute each way..

Not long to go now ladies!! Im 35+3 and really need to get organised, I’ve not packed the hospital bags yet but promised my hubby I would by early next week haha I have everything here, it’s just a case of actually putting it all in the bags so there’s no rushing about!

I’ve stocked up the house with food/toiletries too so he doesn’t need to worry about that and can just focus on our 7 yo and supporting me :)

I have consultant appt Tuesday and have to make the decision whether or not to have section. I had a previous 3rd degree tear and until today I thought I’d made up my mind for section.. arghhhh! I hate deciding what to have for dinner let alone something like this!

Definitely feeling more tired, pressure lower down and the need to clean and organise.. :)
Can’t wait to see baby news soon xx

SouthwestSis · 07/01/2022 16:14

Today is my last day of work at 37+ 3 but I would have wanted to go a week earlier if I wasn't working from home.
I'll be 38 weeks when the growth scan happens and they'll decide on timing of induction based on that and my blood sugars (I've got gestational diabetes) but my control has been good lately so hoping to avoid induction at least until 39+ a bit so I can have some chill time on maternity.
Plus my sis has a 10th January birthday and doesn't love it so I'd prefer end of the month!
Am going to spend this weekend cleaning and sorting with a bit if self care, nesting!

0Scapes · 07/01/2022 16:51

I’m 34+2 and starting to get a bit anxious now! We have furniture flat packed (8 boxes worth!!) but between me being pregnant and his back we can’t even get the stuff upstairs so I feel like I’m just sat here stewing at the moment!! Thankfully my parents are going to drive up and help us get things in order next weekend.

I want to get all the baby bits washed as well there’s no point until there’s somewhere for it to be stored. I also need some to be packed in the hospital bags so feel like I can’t get that properly sorted yet.

I went to make the stand for the Moses basket yesterday but for some reason I can’t get it to fit together (certain it’s user error!) so husbands going to have a look at that soon.

Nesting’s setting in and I’m just feeling a bit useless. It’s difficult knowing there’s still so much to do but I can’t do any of it… at least for the next week or so, and not without help.

Also been struck with a cold this week and I was certain I was going to sneeze the baby out 😂.

Its getting real now Grin

@Winterfellismyhome ohh how exiting!!
I loved my Ollie the owl for my youngest it eats batteries though so I'd stock up on them before hand, I'm planning on using mine again and I've got a drawer full of batteries to keep me going for a while 😅

VixFromThe6ix · 11/01/2022 01:09

Hi mamas to be!!! I'm 36+5.... And super excited/anxious!
Everything is ready to go, hospital bag is packed, carseat is installed...
Getting closer and closer to the due date, though, I'm feeling my anxiety rising with questions and slight fear. This is our first so not sure what to expect.
For those of you that had babies before, was there anything that your body did that signaled that you're going into labour soon. I don't, mean the obvious water breaking or contractions...but was there anything else?
Does it just start? Is the baby moving a lot when you're starting to feel the contractions?
I wonder if he will be early or late or on time... The way he's always moving and my stomach being so big I always think he's gonna be early, but I'm just guessing obviously lol
Here's his little sleeping area... I look at it and smile cause soon he's gonna be right there....

I'm not sure I really felt anything before my waters broke.

It may have been a coincidence but I felt AWFUL for my entire pregnancy and two days before I went in to labour I started feeling like me again. Not sure if this was a sign and if you don't feel awful that won't help I guess! I didn't have any contractions as I needed a c sec for health reasons and so I was rushed in for an emergency c sec so i can't help you with your other question.

My waters broke at 37 weeks! Just looking at your weeks and getting excited for you!

Winterfellismyhome · 11/01/2022 10:11

@feb2022 haha i have some leftover from Christmas and Amazon prime so hopefully be fine Grin

Hey! I don't post here often, but interested to know what everyone's baby weights are if you know? I had a growth scan yesterday (34 weeks) and she's 6 pounds 8 ounces!!!

Elective Csection also officially booked and I'm starting to freak out - I feel like I've forgotten to buy something really important... 😳😅

feb2022 · 11/01/2022 12:56

@VixFromThe6ix wow that looks amazing! How beautiful 😍
The only thing I noticed before going into labour was lots of pressure down below and feeling a bit sickly and restless, I just couldn't keep still I was constantly cleaning and organising, and I was very snappy with OH 😅
But most of that could have been nerves and anxiety

I'm feeling pretty good other than the expected tiredness and discomfort. Some bloating in the evenings too. I guess I was seeing if there is a sign lmao... I'm getting a bit anxious. 😬 I try not to think about it too much, though... And just concentrate on the after part 👶❤️

Thank you ❤️
I feel some pressure down below... But it's not constant. I think maybe he turns and it presses on things. I don't think he dropped yet... I heard that's when pressure is pretty intense.
Also haven't felt Braxton Hicks... Or at least I don't think I did.
Maybe he's more comfy in there than I thought hahaha and has no plans to be early.
Snappy with SO is a thing to do, no? 😂😂 At least they understand why, so they don't take us too seriously when we do...

Sunshine8888 · 11/01/2022 13:59

Ugh I’ve had a crazy few days! I’m 36+2 today so made it further than with my first baby but now I’ve been diagnosed with OC 😫 bile acid levels are too high so now under close monitoring and they won’t let me go past 39 weeks if I can even get there! The itching is just horrendous!!! I was so hoping not to have to be induced after a spontaneous first birth and vaginal delivery. I will be doing everything I can to bring on labour from 37 weeks - I’ve got syringes ready to hand express, clary sage oil, will bounce on ball, walk lots!! Raspberry leaf tea! Any other things I could do?

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 11/01/2022 15:52

@dg93 I was about 6 lbs at 34 weeks I think. It's way more than my app said it should be, but only put me about 60th centile on the charts, so the Dr was pretty happy with it. Having said that, I'm being induced hopefully next week, so I won't be left to go full term and get too big,

Has anyone else's midwife said how engaged they are? I'm partially engaged (2/5) pressure in pelvis is increasing, but I also understand that this doesn't mean anything for a first baby and I could be engaged for weeks!? Keen to beat my induction also.

@Sunshine8888 really sorry to hear that hope you're feeling okay.

glasspaw · 11/01/2022 16:39

@VixFromThe6ix looks fantastic! You’re two weeks ahead of me, time feels like it’s moving soooo slowly! I just want to be at the end now.

A few friends have told me that their bodies had a “bit of a clear out” in the weeks leading up to labour. I’ve started to get a bit of an upset tummy myself but I think it’s probably too early for me to take that as a sign.

I feel you on the time moving slowly... I feel like I've been pregnant for a very very long time, haha. I'm looking forward to out little bean being born but also to be able to sleep on my stomach and tie my shoes again hahahaha

Hmm... That's an interesting one. I'm going to keep track and see if anything had changed for me in that department.

It would be nice if there was a clear sign so you know you're expecting it to happen shortly. I'm just taking every day as they come and overanalyzing everything on the way 😂

laalaaleelee · 11/01/2022 21:01

I had a scan at just over 33 weeks and they said the baby was 5lb

BabyFeb22 · 12/01/2022 02:11

I have my growth scan tomorrow (well actually today as I've just realised it 2.10am!) I have acid so bad that I've been up 3 times since going to bed being sick and now at downstairs watching tele and feeling sorry for myself!

Jeffers5 · 12/01/2022 09:33

@dg93 I had a scan a couple of weeks ago at 32 weeks and baby weighed 4lbs 13 x

CucumberCool · 12/01/2022 11:10

@BabyFeb22

I felt terrible too last night. Nausea and terrible acid. Had three Rennie's at once...

Hope you enjoy your scan today, I've loved seeing my baby!

feb2022 · 12/01/2022 11:11

@BabyFeb22 ohh it's the worst!
I may aswell be drinking gaviscon through a straw at the minute, makes me feel like I can't breathe it's horrible

CucumberCool · 12/01/2022 11:15

We're all getting really close now I can't quite believe it .... Having very strange feelings like it's not sunk in or I can't quite believe it....

My first so I guess there is still so much 'unknown', even though I'm doing all the antenatal classes watching as many birth stories as I can, reading all the posts and books.... 😳 Just trying to keep it together!!

Jeffers5 · 12/01/2022 11:16

Has anyone else got a low lying placenta?
I had an additional scan at 32 weeks and it has moved but not enough, now I’ve got another scan booked for 36 weeks, I think it needs to move another 4mm in that time, otherwise I’m under the impression it’ll be a planned c-section at 37 weeks.
