@0Scapes It really depends what kind of birth/stay you are expecting. If you are low risk/mid wife led I'd recommend having just a couple of each in varying sizes a newborn, 0-3 vest and sleep suit maybe a cardigan and hat. Then have an extra bag with more in the car incase anything changes and you need to stay in.

0Scapes · 30/12/2021 19:34

@Skybooks thank you :)

catinthehat12 · 30/12/2021 20:55

I had my placenta scan today, it has moved out the way thankfully. Also checked on baby’s growth while there and he’s an estimated 5lb3 currently. I hear that growth scans can be inaccurate and I am hoping so, he’s bloody huge!

I haven’t done my hospital bag yet, but started to think about the things I will need.

I have a cold at the moment and so struggling through that too, it’s been fairly mild but it’s the sinus pressure that I can’t handle well.

MollyQueenOfSocks · 31/12/2021 04:28
@MollyQueenOfSocks i had an appointment booked because of a previous c section, maybe thats why?
I've also had a previous section, but I called up after asking and get my date on Tuesday!

It's all happening for us now ladies, very exciting!

MollyQueenOfSocks · 31/12/2021 04:43

@0Scapes

On the note of hospital bags - how many baby grows and nappies is everyone packing? I still need to wash baby clothes as I’ve been putting it off until the furniture gets here so I’d have somewhere to store it (should be here by next week!!).

I’m just realising how unprepared we are if she decides to make an early appearance and it’s really putting me on edge! Does anyone else feel similar?

Hospital bag is all done here! In fact I am confident that we are 100% baby ready (just need a changing bag and to purchase a sling/carrier but these things aren't urgent).

I am staying automatically for 3 days and have packed....

For baby:

6x vest, sleep suits
2x hats and mitten pairs
2x blankets
15-20 nappies (7ish a day should be alright?)
Pack of wipes
4x muslin cloths
Bottles and 4x ready made Aptamil formula (just in case, I intend to BF)
Sudocrem

For me:

All regular medication I currently take
Breast pump and breast pads
Large knickers (for going over scar)
Large pads (tena type)
Soap, shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser, deodorant etc
Flannel
Toothbrush and paste
Large towel (hospital ones are teeny tiny)
2x nighties and 1x pjs
Nursing bra (although probably won't wear it
Slippers
Outfit for going home in (which I will probably wear going in as I'm planned csection and 5mins away from
Hospital, so it will be clean on)

Additional:

Book
Sketchbook and sketching pens/pencils
Nintendo switch (with animal crossing!)
Snacks!!!

Ohhh all this hospital bag stuff is making me so exited! 😊
I'm 32 weeks on Monday I haven't packed a single thing yet 😅
We are all swapping bedrooms at the moment and decorating, so our room will be the boys shared bedroom, my oldest sons room will be our bedroom and youngest sons room will be baby's room... I know she won't be in there for months but I need to get it done so I can start washing and putting clothes away... I've got the lovely task of bagging all our clothes up the next few days and getting rooms empty for carpet to go down, why do I leave everything to the last minute 😂

0Scapes · 31/12/2021 10:11

@MollyQueenOfSocks that’s really helpful thank you!

SouthwestSis · 31/12/2021 10:23

Looks like a good stash @MollyQueenOfSocks but you won't need sudocrem, it's best not to use any products on newborn skin for at least the first week.

You might want to take a big water bottle too, if you're not going to be very mobile afterwards you don't want to be buzzing every hour for one of those tiny plastic hospital cups.

feb2022 · 31/12/2021 10:42

@SouthwestSis yeah my water bottle was a game changer for me

MollyQueenOfSocks · 31/12/2021 10:51

@SouthwestSis Good point RE sudocrem and water! I'll remove the cream which should make space for my huge water bottle Grin I'll also be taking Ribena as I know the wards I worked on there were always running out of squash too!

Glad I could be of help, I think I have pretty much all the basics covered and everything else is a bonus!

Lionnose · 31/12/2021 14:08

Thanks for the messages re hospital bags. It’s definitely helped me out. I haven’t thought about this at all! Don’t forget your phone charger. That was the one I almost forgot last time. My battery was struggling all the time from messages and taking photos.

Is anyone else having really strange urges? I keep wanting to go out for a run or other things I can’t do. I keep researching running plans!

Hope you are all feeling well. Getting very tired now and always feel too full.

CucumberCool · 31/12/2021 19:04

Great to read what you guys have in your hosp bag.

I've done baby's but not mine yet...dyed some white towels dark red but that's all the prep for me so far.

Oh I did buy maternity pads and it left me a little shocked at the size of them!! ConfusedConfusedGrin

I've got vasaline in the baby bag for those tar like first poos... I've heard it's good to put some on before they poo so it's easier to wipe off... FTM though so I don't know if it's not necessary..

glasspaw · 31/12/2021 19:51

@PrettyPlatapus YES! Me too 😂 I opened the box of maternity pads and assumed I had a few stuck together when I pulled one out. They’re massive!

CucumberCool · 31/12/2021 20:02

@glasspaw
I had to laugh and immediately show my partner! I might also have to buy bigger pants to fit them in!! (I already wear 'granny pants!')

Winterfellismyhome · 01/01/2022 11:16

Just packed mine! Dont forget to take your own pillow, those hospital ones arent great

Anyone else really nervous that we will be having babies NEXT MONTH!!!

BabyFeb22 · 03/01/2022 12:26

@feb2022 YES!! Going for our THIRD 4d scan today because she's a little bugger and keeps hiding! The first one she had her hands over her face and the second she was laid so we could only see her back!

blahblahx · 03/01/2022 12:29

I'm due at the beginning of March but I have a feeling little man might come early!

BabyFeb22 · 03/01/2022 13:02

Yeah I'm due 28th Feb but think I'll be early, I have a consultant appointment on 26th Jan but hoping to at least get a few more weeks after that as under consultant due to a heart condition I was born with but not had any issues so hoping it will just be more of a yes you're fine off you go type appointment x

feb2022 · 03/01/2022 14:00

@BabyFeb22 ohh noo!
Hopefully she moves a bit and you get clearer pictures this time, mine was the same when I went for mine, took bloody ages to get her to move and literally the last few minutes she moved her hands away, and had her foot in her mouth 😂

feb2022 · 03/01/2022 14:01

@blahblahx I'm hoping I go early tbh, I'm so uncomfortable at the min just want it all over with now

feb2022 · 03/01/2022 14:04

@BabyFeb22 just realised we're due on the same date 😅
I went a few days over with my boys so I'll probably end up the same this time around
Yeah fingers crossed your appointment goes well and you can just plan for the final stretch then without extra worry then

Winterfellismyhome · 03/01/2022 17:32

Csection planned in 28 days and also hoping to go early Grin

Has anyone chosen their baby names yet?

OP posts:
MollyQueenOfSocks · 03/01/2022 17:36

Own pillow! Brilliant idea :D

I called up to check consultant appointments and it's a god thing I did as I have one tomorrow! Still haven't got a letter through so would have missed it otherwise. The good news is I should get my csection date!

Bad news is I am back on bed rest as I cannot do anything (stand, walk or sit) without being in absolute agony. All I can do is lie flat on my back again and my poor DH is having to do everything for me. Codeine, which was taking the edge off at least, is doing nothing for it at all now and I am on the max dose. I am hoping that if I explain this to he Dr they will get me in ASAP at 37 weeks but I am sure I will be fobbed off as usual Sad

I am hoping to go early too. I am so done in, just in pain all the time. I can't even get up to the bathroom without crying in pain and frustration anymore.
