@Winterfellismyhome found it easily, thank you for starting another thread again. I've started feeling heavy, bloated but most other symptoms have subsided

miracle2022 · 16/08/2021 12:43

Thanks for starting again! Have my 12 week scan end of this week and feeling v nervous. Last one I had was 3 weeks ago. Since then my nausea seems ti have subsided and I'm generally feeling a bit better (still bloated and sometimes struggle to get comfortable and fall asleep but on the whole much better than I was feeling a few weeks ago). But this is now making me even more nervous - like what's going on in there, is everything ok etc. Has anyone else felt like this? I know symptoms are supposed to get better as you reach the 12 week mark but that doesn't stop the worrying.

overtherainbo · 16/08/2021 12:49

@miracle2022 I've felt like this, if I'm not feeling rubbish I'm worrying something is wrong. It's such a odd time. We will soon be able to feel the kicks 😍

I just saw your other post too - yes, I agree with the heaviness and bloaty feeling. I haven't got too much of a stomach, it's there for sure, but I'd probably stay it's just a little more than what I'd look like when I've eaten a bit too much on a normal day. It's my first pregnancy (had an early miscarriage in Feb) so not really sure what to expect. I'm just freaking out about the scan and can't believe it's 12 weeks already. Im definitely excited - that's a understatement! But also have this constant worry in the back of my head but trying to enjoy each day and be grateful for being pregnant. I know, will be so lovely and surreal when we can feel movement. Also, separate question, why are people doing / have you been doing re skincare? I've read so many scary posts re changing skincare and not using for example chemicals in skincare as it's bad for pregnancy / nursery. Got myself in a bit of a pickle about it last week and started changing a few products. Interested to know what others are doing on this front?

overtherainbo · 16/08/2021 13:06

@miracle2022 oh honesty I'm so rubbish at giving advice for nerves. I'm constantly paying for scans to be reassured. Then I read that too many scans can cause problems so I'm now worrying about the affects of radiation😓! I've had 6 scans so far.. 6,7,8,10,12,14 weeks.

I honestly haven't changed much. I only wash my face with carex though and rarely wear makeup. I have reduced my caffeine intake and I am taking iron supplements as-well as pregnancy multivitamin but I think that's the only changes haha!

That's so cute! Ahhh! I know, I stopped making myself think that I needed to go for regular scans for that very reason. Double edged sword isn't it! Glad to know re skincare - I think I'm going to stop googling that now as well!!!!

overtherainbo · 16/08/2021 13:16

@feb2022 oh I'm sorry, I'm guessing you asked to tag you in the thread. I unfollowed the other when I seen it was near capacity 😂

choccrumpet · 16/08/2021 13:33

@miracle2022 I haven't changed my skincare. I use things like salicylic acid 2%, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, lactic acid, glycolic acid, vit c serums and oils and have looked up each product is safe during pregnancy so am continuing with them. Same for face washes, makeup etc. It's all safe in pregnancy so I'm not going to overthink it.

Top of my head, things that aren't safe are product with vit A and retinoids which I never used before anyways and salicylic acid above 2%.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 16/08/2021 13:35

@miracle2022 I've swapped to coconut oil as a face and body moisturiser, and actually really like it! Just because I was confused also, and when I was feeling crappy, I couldn't be bothered with multiple steps.

I think scans are okay, it's the 3D and 4D ones that are more of a problem I think? I did look into this because I have had six scans also by 16 weeks here, but the first two were at EPU because they thought I might have an ectopic. I'll prob leave it til my 20 week scan tho if it's a worry to have too many.

overtherainbo · 16/08/2021 13:54

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 ahhh have you. I have a scan at 16 weeks for gender, 20 week nhs then I haven't got any planned until my 3 later scans at 30-40 weeks with nhs

miracle2022 · 16/08/2021 14:02

@choccrumpet thanks, that's helpful to know, there's so much out there and googling doesn't help!

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 love coconut oil too but not sure how much skin will fare as have found it a little more greasy / a few spots have appeared, probs due to hormones I understand, but don't want to make it even greasier / spottier! Yeah I've heard mixed things about too many scans vs not enough scans - it's really difficult right!

Jellybean023 · 16/08/2021 14:10

Just checking in to the new thread.

choccrumpet · 16/08/2021 14:22

@miracle2022 I found it all overwhelming too tbh so what I did was google my existing products and check if they are safe during pregnancy, which they were, so I am sticking to them rather than trying to research everything and then trying to decide. Don't think there's a right or wrong way, but I was getting overwhelmed doing it the other way. Plus I use them a few times a week and obviously only one at a time before moisturising so it's not a lot

Skybooks · 16/08/2021 14:32

So heartburn has attacked this weekend, sat night I couldn't sleep because of it and this morning I had to leave work to go and buy some gaviscon. I'm 14w4 and wasnt expecting it this early but the pain was horrible, worse as I wear a mask for work I felt I couldn't breath!

miracle2022 · 16/08/2021 14:34

@choccrumpet thanks! I have been doing the same whilst also doing a bit of other research and reading to make sure I get a consistent approach as I didn't want to change any of my skincare unless I really had to. The thing that I've had to change is my spf as apparently chemical spf and liquorice root isn't good (mineral is the way to go it seems yet leaves a white cast on your face!).

Peachi82 · 16/08/2021 15:42

Just a quick check in with you lot!
We're at my mums and will stay there until early September.
Last 3 to 4 days have been better with the nausea and sickness. I even had enough energy to go swimming twice with DS. I enjoy this, but obviously worried that something is not right. With my DS I felt rotten until he was born, so symptoms disappearing in week 13 are very weird to me.

CNMP · 16/08/2021 15:52

Hey guys 👋🏼 just checking into the new thread.

I’m now 14 weeks + 2 days and I’m feeling pretty normal 😂 I get the occasional sore boobs, pain when laying down and sneezing ( round ligament) and I’m constantly breathless.
Also struggle to get comfy to fall asleep and have the roundest tummy ever. My husband said he can no longer deny I’m preggo 😂

Had my vaccine Tuesday last week and despite the migraine, felt fine afterwards. My sickness has completely gone - yayy! And my appetite is back! Anyone else feel full quicker but also hungrier quicker too? I’ve also been craving salt and vinegar snak a jacks so that’s all I’m eating haha! Anyone else had cravings?

I’ve strangely started to relax following my 12 week scan! We had our screening test results back and they all came back low risk which was great. I’ve really started to get excited this last week and a bit and bought quiet a few little bits already!
Anyone else buying yet? Xx

CNMP · 16/08/2021 15:57

@Peachi82 heyah, I just wanted to say, try and not worry. Every pregnancy is different and everyone is different. When I hit the 13 week mark my sickness just disappeared and my appetite slowly creeped back. It doesn’t necessarily mean anything is different and it’s just a sign your hormones are levelling. I worried at first but my midwife said to me that between 8-12 weeks your placenta takes over hormone production which can help subside some symptoms including sickness. Hope that helps ease your mind a little xx

overtherainbo · 16/08/2021 16:13

@CNMP yes I have started buying, I have maybe more than I should at this stage. I just think Christmas is coming up, I have 2 children so I want to focus on that then I will only have a limited number of weeks left to get things sorted. I'm a over planner I think😂

I have..

  • Pram, cosy toes, car seat, change bag
  • Baby bath
  • Steriliser, bottles, bottle warmer, dummy's
  • Breast feeding pillow, muslins, bibs
  • Muslin wrap, blankets
  • Vests, sleepsuits, hats, mittens, socks (0-0/0-3)
Peachi82 · 16/08/2021 16:30

@CNMP
Thank you! I try not to worry. Just hoping the little one keeps on growing.

Jenc1111 · 16/08/2021 16:42

Has anyone had an appointment for their 20 week scan yet?

Peachi82 · 16/08/2021 16:46

Yes. They gave it to me at the 12 weeks scan. 27th September.

overtherainbo · 16/08/2021 17:02

@Jenc1111 yes I got my 20 week scan date around a week after my dating scan

ChaiTRex · 16/08/2021 18:55

Can’t wait until my next appointment so I can hear baby’s heartbeat again.
