Shiny new thread

Jonesy88 · 22/07/2021 21:55

Ooo shiny new thread!

I had my second vaccine today too. The midwife had refused to give advice so when I mentioned I was pregnant to the nurse administering the jab I expected a similar reaction. She just repeated that there’s risks with any vaccine and did I understand. When I said I’d had my first pregnant (albeit unknowingly) and that I’m concerned that cases are really increasing in the area, she nodded, smiled and said she understood my decision. I’m taking that as a positive.

Bit nervous now but so far so good with no side effects other than a sore arm (as I had last time).

sociallydistained · 22/07/2021 22:13

I had a bit of a different experience @jonesy88 midwife was really happy I was going for my second as explained I also had the first without knowing I was pregnant.

Then today the lovely nurse I told I was pregnant called the doctor in to explain to me and he said there’s no concrete studies etc to say it’s safe but what we do know is there hasn’t been problems with women in America who had Pfizer and very recently advice changed from post 12 weeks for first to ASAP as the risks of Covid in third trimester are worse. I am a bit worried but don’t want to get Covid as well so hopefully our little ones are okay and are protected.

My arm is SO sore. Worse than last time. Hopefully the only effect 🤞🏼

Welcome @Amijustagrump and congratulations

It’s such a lovely group we have here, thanks @expectinglittlebear for setting up a new thread.

I told a few more people today, I love watching their reactions when I show them my scan pic. I’ve not had my blood test results back yet but they did say if I needed further tests they would contact me by phone in 7 days, which today is day 7. So taking that as a good sign

Littlemiss41andfabulous · 23/07/2021 08:11

I'm a bit of a lurker on this thread but love reading everyone's posts, so don't want to lose this thread.

I had my 12 week scan on Weds and everything looks fine which is such a relief- starting to get excited there will actually be a baby arriving in January! I'm 13 weeks and 1 day now and due 27th January.

I'd love to join the Facebook group too.

spttc · 23/07/2021 09:08

@Jonesy88 I find that so weird they won't give advice 😂 Must be they've been told not to in case people try sue the NHS? Here (Ireland) they give an actual opinion. Both my consultant & midwife said they believe pregnant women should get the vaccine etc etc. My consultant even broke down the details of the reasons WHY she believed that etc etc. I'd find the lack of medical opinion deeply unnerving 😂😂😂🙈🙈🙈

Here is after 14 weeks only. So i Havnt had it yet. I'm changing my mind every single day on it. It's reassuring to see you ladies getting it and all being ok though

spttc · 23/07/2021 09:12

@sociallydistained that's reassuring! I'm kind of jealous of those of you who have had it now with no bad reaction to speak of. I've just totally lost my nerve on it.

Maybe into the middle of 2nd trimester I will 🙈Since I won't be going to hospital for my appointments I do feel safer though. No crowded waiting rooms etc. Really struggling with the decision

sociallydistained · 23/07/2021 10:37

I’ve been pinged today. 5 days that’s my weekend ruined 🙄 crazy to think I have been out and about for 5 days before it alerted me! Thankfully no maternity appointments to worry about 🙄

Jonesy88 · 23/07/2021 10:57

@spttc I was still unsure even sitting in the car outside. But I feel I know more people than ever getting pinged or even catching it it was starting to play on my mind more from that angle. For me I thought there’s such a way to go still, and if I breastfeed does that create a further delay? Also we restrictions relaxing I think I’d really freak out of some coughed near me at the supermarket. I’m not saying this thought process was particularly logical but it got me out of the car.

I also have a scan booked for next week as the booking in appointment messed up some timings so having had a scan before and getting one after I feel I was going to be the calmest I could be.

spttc · 23/07/2021 11:14

@Jonesy88 see I'm in Ireland. Our cases are much much lower, restrictions much tighter etc. Masks mandatory. No concerts, shows or anything like that. Indoor hospitality opens this coming Monday for the first time since December....but only for those fully vaccinated. If I was in the uk I'd definitely feel a greater sense of urgency! 😬 I just wish this wasn't even a thing....remember pre Covid era....what a time to be alive! 😂

expectinglittlebear · 23/07/2021 13:31

Had my scan this morning and all is well! Was sooo lovely to see little one moving around, even got a little wave, it was so adorable. Still measuring bang on at 12+5 today, so beyond happy! Should hear back about bloods and screening by Wednesday! We've got a little nightmare already though, had to keep jiggling and moving around to get baby to get into the right position & my placenta is anterior which makes it harder to see. But was such a lovely morning!!

Could resist and popped into a nearby shop straight afterwards and picked up a little sleepsuit and socks!

Hello everyone!! Thanks for setting this new thread up!
I had a little adventure yesterday, I will tell you my experience just in case it's helpful to anyone!
Basically when I arrived home from my walk yesterday evening i went to the loo and I noticed a lot of blood! Not spotting, real blood, and a lot like if I was having a period 😵 but no cramps or anything... After a couple of calls I have been sent to a&e where I spent most of my night, just to be told that my blood tests were ok, i was just a bit dehydrated and that they wanted me to be checked at the EPU this morning! So I went in again this morning and they listened to the baby's heartbeat which is still going strong (such a relief!!!), and they gave me the anti-D injection just in case my blood had mixed with the baby's.
The midwife said that it's quite common for this type of bleeding to happen after a scan if the sonographer had to push a lot to get a good image. I wish I knew that before, I don't know why they don't mention it as a potential side effect?! It would have saved me so much anxiety! I would have asked to be checked anyway, but in a different mood!!
This baby is not born yet and it's already giving me sleepless nights 😅

EsseKey · 23/07/2021 13:35

@expectinglittlebear so pleased to hear about your scan!!!, 🥰

EsseKey · 23/07/2021 13:37

Oh and for those asking about the vaccine, I had my second dose on wednesday and I confirm no side effects!! Just a bit of a sore arm but it's gone already! :)

spttc · 23/07/2021 14:30

@expectinglittlebear I'm at my hospital appointment today too! I popped into NEXT and bought a little dress too! (I know I'm having a girl), it's so cute! Little matching knickers to go under it I can't even cope. And super soft 💯 I got it for a friends wedding next aug, she will wow them 💯😍❤️

spttc · 23/07/2021 14:33

@EsseKey OMG YOU POOR THING!!! That sounds horrible 🙈🙈 I'm glad all is ok. An adventure indeed 😫 They definately should have mentioned that as a side effect

Glad you have your second vaccine and all is well!

Jonesy88 · 23/07/2021 14:47

@EsseKey that sounds so traumatic. Glad all is well. Did you think the sonographer was being a bit heavy handed?

sociallydistained · 23/07/2021 15:03

Bless you @EsseKey that sounds so scary! I’m so glad everything is okay and can only imagine the relief of the heartbeat!
