@spttc @sociallydistained @Jonesy88 thanks ladies, yes it was super scary!

Yes probably the sonographer has been a bit heavy handed, but tbh i wasn't worried at all at the moment, I think it was just what she had to do in order to get a good image, and it was all safe! And probably it was, but i wish I knew that this was a possible side effect 😱

Trinacham · 23/07/2021 16:59

Hi everyone! I've been on the February thread but just had my 12 week scan today and my EDD has now moved forward to 29th January so I'm pleased I just found this thread Smile

EsseKey · 23/07/2021 17:14

@Trinacham hi and welcome! My EDD is 29 jan too 😊

thecapitalsunited · 23/07/2021 17:14

@expectinglittlebear It’s magical seeing them wriggling around in there isn’t it? So pleased you had a good scan.

@EsseKey That sounds horrible. Glad you were able to get checked out quickly. They really should warn you if they know that this can happen but I suppose that might make people slower to get it checked out 🤷‍♀️

spttc · 23/07/2021 17:38

Welcome @Trinacham 👋 I'm due 30th Jan. We're all pretty close on dates here

Trinacham · 23/07/2021 22:45

@EsseKey ooh, I didn't know that was a side effect. I've been bleeding on and off (not just spotting!) since 6 weeks, so bleeding has become rather usual for me now.. but that is reassuring to know if I have more. Before the scan I was bleeding quite a bit and she did have to push on my stomach a lot to get baby to move, so I'll try not to panic if I get even more than usual!

EsseKey · 23/07/2021 22:58

@Trinacham yes it's good to know, at least keeps you from panicking as I did! However I would still get checked again if I feel uncomfortable with the amount of blood... I just hope it doesn't happen again!
And I hope your bleeding is just a weird side effect and your baby is ok! :)

EsseKey · 24/07/2021 09:52

I received today the results of the screening for fetal anomalies, it's low risk so no further testing is advised 😊
I am surprised it arrived so soon (i did the scan and bloods on wednesday) ! They also said I should receive the appointment for my next scan with the same letter, but there's no appointment in there 🤷‍♀️ it's probably coming separately...

I received no letter and nothing on badger notes until last night (I checked yesterday day) and my scan was last Thursday! But also low risk so I’m really relieved! However, I got my appointment for my next scan AT my scan lol so clearly all places running differently!
EsseKey · 24/07/2021 11:18

@sociallydistained ahahah yes there is so much inconsistency - but that's ok as long as we all get what we need!

At my scan the sonographer said that she was going to book my next scan immediately and I will receive the date together with the test results, in the next 7-10 days! I am glad I received the results earlier than expected, but I just want to know the date of my scan because I know that possibly I will need to change it, as I will be on holiday around the 20wk mark!
we'll see :D

MamaDaria · 24/07/2021 18:13

Hi everyone. I have been peeking at this thread for a while, but wanted to wait for the scan before joining. This is my first baby, due on 28th Jan. Great news that all the ladies have had positive outcomes from the first scan so far. I am still waiting for the NIPT results. It will be an interesting journey for us 😊

ReginaaPhalange · 24/07/2021 18:21

Hey all! Been lurking but now have my official EDD as 30/01!!!

sociallydistained · 24/07/2021 18:22

Got my next scan for September but not my 16 week appointment yet. Midwife gone awol 😂

So we ordered some cloth nappies (we are planning to cloth… I did them in my first Nanny job and have a soft spot… the washing though!) and they arrived and oh my gosh they are SO cute!! I’m obsessed. I’m not buying things in general but want to do a cute announcement with some visuals and there was one nappy I absolutely loved with milk bottles on it. Anyway, despite lots of stress at the moment the nappies are giving me life. I could easily get carried away buying so much stuff!! But I’ll hold off for now.

Welcome @MamaDaria congratulations! How Was your scan? My due date is the 27th. I think we’re all rather close around here.

sociallydistained · 24/07/2021 18:26

Welcome too @ReginaaPhalange love the name! How are you finding it all so far? Grin

ReginaaPhalange · 24/07/2021 18:33

@sociallydistained thank you :)

I've been struggling with nausea and exhaustion and had a couple of weeks off work as a result, but feeling a bit better now.
Week 13 tomorrow so 2nd trimester :)

ReginaaPhalange · 24/07/2021 18:33

@sociallydistained how have you been finding it so far?

sociallydistained · 24/07/2021 18:43

Oh hope you’re okay that sounds pretty rough. I only found out at 8 weeks and was struggling really badly feeling wiped out and awful wondering what was wrong with me lol. I had one day off work then but otherwise I’ve been okay. Nausea weeks 8-11 that’s died down now too. Quite a few headaches lately but otherwise feeling okay!
Yes second trimester 🙌🏼

MamaDaria · 24/07/2021 20:24

@sociallydistained The scan was lovely, the sonographer found the baby really quickly and showed us. Did all the measurements as it was in good position, but then near the end baby started stretching! That was crazy to see so much movement, was hard not to laugh and move my belly, haha.

We bought extra pictures from the scan and sent it through post to let our parents know, so we are expecting some phone calls in the coming days.

Have you shared your news much?

sociallydistained · 24/07/2021 20:29

Oh wow how lovely for them! I have mostly told all fo the important people now! I have been telling people as I see them after the 12 week scan. Told my Mum and Nan after the 9 week scan I had for reassurance. It’s very strange having people know!

EsseKey · 24/07/2021 20:38

@MamaDaria@ReginaaPhalange Hi and welcome, so nice to hear that your scans went well!! :)

I had started to tell people (a part from family and my manager at work, they knew already) just after the 12 week scan, then I got scared because of the bleeding episode so I am feeling a bit reluctant now... I am giving myself a week and hopefully by then I will feel ready again to start sharing the news!
I have absolutely loved the reactions from the people I told so far... 🥰

BobbleWobble1 · 24/07/2021 21:29

Thanks for starting a new thread. Welcome to all the new members.

Feeling like the exhaustion is starting to go now. So nice to feel like I want to do things again rather than just lie in a heap! Hope everyone else is starting to feel better.

thecapitalsunited · 25/07/2021 10:02

@sociallydistained I’m hoping to try cloth too. DH thinks I’m insane but my mum has us in terries and is really supportive of the idea. My SIL has said she’d like to try cloth so we might be able to use the same lot for two families if it goes well.

SouthwestSis · 25/07/2021 10:48

14 weeks tomorrow and I think I'm over the worst of the sickness!
Low risk on my first trimester screening too and managing to plod on ok at work too. Only 1 shift left before a week of annual leave, woohoo!

sociallydistained · 25/07/2021 12:06

Aww lovely. I remember my boss from my Nanny job got a used joblot off of the local selling pages for next to nothing and it did her 2 children so imagine how many nappies saved from landfill. I really had a soft spot for them cause they designs and stuff can be so cute! Little one also potty trained very early easily and I was convinced it was the cloth lol.

If you didn’t know already, you can look up your local nappy library. They rent out big sets which have every type of nappy you can think of you can get a real feel for what’s best. I went on last night and got panicked when I saw the new born set was reserved all the way into March! I managed to reserve another newborn set that is £60 for 3 months … but has literally everything you need for full time use and all the latest styles including wet bag and reusable wipes etc. Very exciting haha… we are planning on taking a pack of disposables into the hospital though. We’ll have to settle into everything else before I add more washing to the list!

expectinglittlebear · 26/07/2021 09:21

@EsseKey Oh gosh that sounds awful, they definitely should have listed it as a side effect!! I am glad you and LO are okay, and screening came back low risk, I got my 20wk scan date letter given to me at my 12wk scan, so I would chase it up in a week or so if you haven't received it yet, but then again I guess each trust works differently!

@Trinacham @MamaDaria @ReginaaPhalange Welcome and congratulations to you all Flowers Yes we all have similar dates here, which is lovely, my EDD is 30th January!

@SouthwestSis Glad to hear you are feeling better and screening came back okay!

I am 13+1 today and the sickness is still very much here, although just more nausea and wretching than actually throwing up - haven't been sick in about 4 days which is a record so far, so hopefully things are easing up Grin. Also starting to get my energy back a little, and not having to take naps at lunch or when I get home from work anymore, so hopefully my energy levels are starting to pick back up! Been in pain most of the weekend though with an ear infection - went down to my local MIU yesterday, as the doctors were shut and they've prescribed me with a sort of spray, as they and I didn't want me taking antibiotics, which is good. Seems to be working as hurting less today so that's another bonus Smile
