@Kayl23 I had to have a check at the hospital for reduced movements after starting my GD protocol (apparently it's normal to get reduced movements when starting this but they like to check it's okay). I literally hadn't felt him at all for about 12 hours. Midwife said it's still completely normal for reduced movements up to 28 weeks in general because baby is small enough and able to move positions enough that we can get quiet periods. She said the kicks should get more powerful after 28-30 weeks. I was almost 27 weeks when she checked me, and I was worried because I'd had v definite pattern for weeks, but she was pretty relaxed about it. He was kicking like mad the next day.

If you're worried phone triage and they can give you some advice and put your mind at rest. Otherwise maybe a cold drink and something sugary might help. Hope you're okay and enjoying the trip away

Scottishgal85 · 01/11/2021 20:41

Hi @Kayl23, a few weeks ago I thought I had reduced movements so managed to get in to see the midwife.
She suggested either drinking something really hot or cold and lying on your side for 30 mins to see if there's any movement.
If you are worried, it's always safer to phone triage and get checked out. My midwife warned that they'd probably suggest this first, so it might be worth trying to see if you get any movement before phoning them.
I'm sure it will all be fine, but it's so hard not to worry! Keep us posted!

I've also been suffering with back ache. My sis in law bought me a wee heated cushion and it has been the best thing ever to ease the ache. Not sure if something like that might help?

spttc · 02/11/2021 08:40

@Kayl23 I didn't feel my baby for maybe 2-3 days AT ALL when we went to New York last month. Nothing! I have an anterior placenta too, but I honestly think it was just being so active walking around New York & the change in routine etc. I was worried enough I had a scan in New York on our 3rd day. Everything was fine👌

expectinglittlebear · 02/11/2021 08:46

Hope everyone is doing well Flowers

Dramatic night last night and super TMI.. just before I finished work at 5 I thought I would quickly nip for a wee before leaving so I didn't need a wee on the journey home. Anyway, went for a wee, emptied my bladder got up to wash my hands and what I thought were my 'waters' went EVERYWHERE. So me panicking, calling my husband, crying thinking oh god I am only 27 weeks, why have they gone already. Super embarrassed and in shock so didn't tell work, just rushed out the door without seeing anyone as quick as I could. Phoned the labour ward and ended up there at the hospital as they were concerned and wanted to see me and do checks. Midwife did all the usual tests, urine etc came back normal, cervix closed, baby heartbeat all okay and movements good. Then the doctor wanted to see me to check if they actually were my waters or not... thankfully turns out it wasn't!! BUT it turns out that baby is now big enough to 'cut off' my bladder, so me thinking I fully went for a wee, getting up, baby must of then shifted and had a very well timed punch down and basically released the rest of bladder all over the floor and down my tights.

Safe to say I am now going to be SUPER paranoid and wearing pads constantly for the rest of the pregnancy.

TMI but I thought you ladies should know that babies 'cutting off' your bladder was a thing.. because I seriously thought my waters had gone. Obviously, they said if it happens again, etc to go in regardless as if it was my waters just in case, but yeah, that was an eventful evening!! I guess at least I heard baby's heartbeat and also saw the labour ward and birthing centre for the first time so know where to go for the real thing!!

Pregnancy is so dignified. Grin

@expectinglittlebear omgggg that's something that would happen to me 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈 but thankfully it was just that and nothing more 💯 how crazy is that though 🙈🙈

expectinglittlebear · 02/11/2021 08:59

@spttc It was traumatic haha, but yes super glad it wasn't my waters! Just mega embarrassed by the time I left the hospital!!!!!

OP posts:
EsseKey · 02/11/2021 09:56

@expectinglittlebear I had no idea something like that could happen!!!
A lot of embarassing moments will come with pregnancy and having a baby, so it's good to get used to that 😆
Just joking, glad everything was ok!! 💕

I also feel less movements when I am more active - but they generally come back when I relax in bed or on the sofa, I hope it stays this way!

Littlemiss41andfabulous · 02/11/2021 10:30

@expectinglittlebear gosh I'd have been panicking just like you - I didn't know that could happen so thanks for sharing. I have noticed I'm back to needing to pee every half hour over the last few days so baby obviously got big enough to press on bladder now.

I've now started working from home only from this week (am 28 weeks on Thursday), we start NCT classes tomorrow, and I have a small baby shower planned at the weekend so it definitely feels like we're gearing up to baby arriving now, which is exciting (despite the discomfort of regular kicks and general bump size!)

I have a GD test on Thursday too....

thecapitalsunited · 02/11/2021 11:50

@expectinglittlebear I would also have completely panicked even though I know that midwives often sniff your pants to check whether your waters have actually gone or you've had an accident. It must happen a lot for them to have got a feel for the smell!

babyyy1926 · 02/11/2021 12:52

@expectinglittlebear I bet you was relieved that it wasn't your waters! But that totally makes sense why sometimes i feel like I've finished my wee and then i'll have more come out whilst I'm wiping!
Sorry this is TMI but i wanted to know if any of you have experienced losing your mucous plug early? With my DD i lost mine during labour which had small streaks of spotting in so know what it looks like etc. Yesterday i kept getting sharp, dagger like pains in my cervix and then later on when i went to the loo as i was pulling down my underwear i felt something there. It was like a thick clump of really gooey mucous, was clear and then slightly yellow tinged in parts and was super thick! After i went to the loo and wiped there was more and then nothing after that. I had a bath and then lay down and next time i went to the toilet there was more again. I haven't had any since. I'm almost 30 weeks.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 02/11/2021 15:38

@expectinglittlebear sorry you had the stress of this! Glad all's okay. As per @babyyy1926 I've had this happen a couple of times, and I now have to really clench my pelvic floor when getting off the loo 🙈 just in case

@thecapitalsunited oh I didn't realise this - poor midwifes! From now on I'll remember to sniff my own knickers if this happens.

Thanks for letting us know @expectinglittlebear

@Kayl23 hoping the movements have come back to normal

sociallydistained · 02/11/2021 17:32

Wow @expectinglittlebear what an experience! Glad all okay and thanks for letting us all know. I’m stating to need a wee little and often it’s very annoying!

spttc · 04/11/2021 10:43

Anyone else starting to feel huge 🙈 even my face & hands etc are so puffy. Actually just can't wait to get back to myself after birth. My appetite has sky rocketed too, energy is really up and down, focus in work is out the window 🤣🙈 Our goal is to be fully organized - all baby bits, room etc by dec 1st because I honestly think I won't have the energy after that 😂😴

Tangfastic91 · 04/11/2021 16:29

I don't feel huge, but then people are saying I've popped so idk. Also my fundal height is off the chart, but the midwife wasn't worried and it was only the first measurement. All the necessary shopping and nursery set up is done.. woohoo! I wanted it sorted before Xmas and kept finding bargains. Hope everyone is doing well :)

expectinglittlebear · 04/11/2021 16:42

Yep starting to feel huge here! Hips are starting to ache the past few days too, so starting to feel 'properly' pregnant lol. Also getting to the point where putting on socks or tights is a struggle, so DH is having to help sometimes! Haven't had my fundal height measured so not sure what I am like size wise on the scale yet but I should know by Tuesday when I have my 28 week appointment :)

Haven't got everything yet. Still need to buy the Snuzpod, a carrier/sling, a bouncer and a play gym/mat. Waiting until the end of the month to see what good deals I can get in the Black Friday sales. So I should hopefully have everything ready by early December too!

Also done the majority of christmas shopping too already, just got the DH to buy for now which I will leave until early December too so I can wrap his presents and pop them straight under the tree - as the family presents are taking up a corner of the nursery at the moment!!

BUT it definitely feels good to be organised early for Christmas - might make this a tradition, pregnant or not Grin. I can look forward to a relaxed December!

Trinacham · 04/11/2021 17:53

I don't feel huge yet. But when I look in the mirror I think, whoa, I'm so big! Everyone keeps commenting i've popped. Looking forward to the fundal height measurement next week. You all sound so organised. We are for the most part, but the nursery is waiting for floorboard repair before carpet can be laid. I just want to get all the furniture in there and organised! 😩

babyyy1926 · 04/11/2021 18:30

I don't feel huge but i feel very uncomfortable. Im measuring very small though and am under consultant care as the baby is measuring on the 5th percentile and so i will have to be induced early. I really want to have a big bump but i could still definitely get away with not being pregnant because you cant notice if I'm wearing a baggy top.

spttc · 05/11/2021 13:27

@babyyy1926 sorry to hear that. Glad you're getting extra care though and they're keeping a close eye on baby ❤️

Like @expectinglittlebear said I suddenly feel VERY pregnant, things are more of a struggle....tying shoe laces etc 😂 @Trinacham im definitely not fully organized! I just PLAN on being by start of dec 😬😂 but definitely not organized so I'm with you

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 05/11/2021 15:28

People i haven't seen in ages keep expressing their surprise that I've still got 2-3 months to go. I feel huge, can't put socks on or tie laces unless I'm sat on the floor. Maybe it's gestational diabetes. Be interested to see my fundal measurement at my next midwife appointment.

Def not organised over here! I figure you need less than you think, and with the exception of cot and travel system, car seat etc, everything else can be ordered when you need it and will arrive quickly enough

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 05/11/2021 16:07

@babyyy1926 sorry I just read your post, hope you're all okay and glad they're looking after you well. I'm under consultant care also and also might have to be induced earlier. It's good they're monitoring us x

SouthwestSis · 06/11/2021 16:35

Im also feeling huge @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 and my bump was measuring 80th centile when I was measured this week but midwife not concerned as it was a similar centile at my 24w measurement.

I only have 6 weeks of face to face working left which is exciting and I have been sorting through all the clothes donations that friends and family have given which has been really nice!
Still a week and a half to go until our first antenatal appointment but I'm really looking forward to meeting people from my area who are a similar way through pregnancy as me!
Task for myself for tomorrow is to try and force myself out of the house and go swimming as I think this will be good to keep active despite the pelvic pain I am developing.

Trinacham · 08/11/2021 12:49

Got my gestational diabetes diagnosis today. Was fully expecting it with my family history, but still got a bit upset. Main thing is that our babies won't be affected though. I was a GD baby myself and it just made me a little on the large side at birth. Will be going to me mum and sister for diet tips, as they've both been through it! Looking forward to my first growth scan on Thursday.

Hope everyone is feeling OK, now we're all reaching the 3rd trimester! :)

BobbleWobble1 · 08/11/2021 14:59

I don't know if it's because it's now November that it suddenly feels closer. I'm on a bit of a mission to get the house organised as we really need more storage space etc. Have annual leave next week so going to start getting things down from the loft and getting rid of anything we don't actually need. Then only 4 weeks left at work. Hope everyone is doing ok.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 08/11/2021 17:46

@Trinacham sorry to hear that! I'm getting a bit more to grips with my GD diet, and my treats are now things like baked Camembert, which is delicious 😋 Seeded wholemeal bread has been amazing for me too. Peanut butter on everything. It's a bit miserable but has been better than I thought once I've worked out a few nice items I can have. Sure you'll figure out lots of lovely bits that work for you. And we're close now, just a few weeks to go

MamaDaria · 08/11/2021 20:42

I had my 28th week appointment today and the bump was measuring on the 97th centile. I did feel that my belly is on the bigger side even though I didnt gain that much weight. Might be a tall baby as me and my partner are both tall 5'7 and 6'1 feet. My midwife said that it doesnt have to mean that my girl will be big and there is no need for concern, but might ask about GD on the appointment just in case.
