Congratulations and welcome @andreavesi !
And great news for you @expectinglittlebear

At 14 weeks my sickness is absolutely going nowhere and I had to have a little trip to hospital for some IV fluids this week so taking it extremely easy for the rest of the week 2nd trimester is certainly not all blooming lovely for me!

Scottishgal85 · 29/07/2021 16:31

Hi ladies, I’ve been following for quite some time but haven’t posted. Hope it’s okay to join. This is my first pregnancy, but due a little earlier, my date is 12th Jan.

spttc · 29/07/2021 18:02

Ah great news @expectinglittlebear on the results! And yeh McDs is so good sometimes 😍😍

Ah @SouthwestSis that's no fun. Hopefully it improves soon. Are you on medication? It did wonders for me 👌

Welcome @Scottishgal85 of course it is! Congrats! 🍾🎉🎈

thecapitalsunited · 29/07/2021 21:27

Welcome @andreavesi and @Scottishgal85!

Great to hear you got good results @expectinglittlebear. I hope you enjoyed your Maccas.

BobbleWobble1 · 29/07/2021 21:46

@Scottishgal85 looks like we're due date buddies! Welcome!

Anyone struggling with constipation? It's my biggest issue by far. Definitely didn't have this first time around!

SouthwestSis · 29/07/2021 23:14

@spttc yeah I was taking cyclizine but on Tuesday I could keep any tablet down long enough for it to work! Have metoclopramide as well since discharge so alternating them and going to try weaning down in a week or 2.
Also suffering with constipation @BobbleWobble1desoite copious fibre intake and walking which I'm sure is not helping with the nausea/vomiting so I'm now using cosmocol every other day. Thank goodness for free prescriptions in pregnancy eh!

andreavesi · 30/07/2021 07:51

Thank you @SouthwestSis and @thecapitalsunited! 😊

@BobbleWobble1 I am also struggling with constipation and gas 🥴 I want to eat lots of fibre but the nausea doesn't let me eat much of anything! I just pray that it will get better soon, I don't know what else to do... I spent three hours in the middle of the night doing weird poses to alleviate gas pain and it was not fun 🙈

Anyone else struggling with exercise? I must admit I have done very little if none at all. I have felt (and still feel) so exhausted that the thought of going out for a walk makes me anxious. I want to try yoga though - anyone knows of any good pregnancy yoga to follow?

expectinglittlebear · 30/07/2021 09:05

@Scottishgal85 Welcome and congratulations lovely! Of course you are welcome here Flowers

@andreavesi I have done barely any exercise since finding out I am pregnant, which is awful really, but with the nausea and tiredness I just haven't been able to push through it. Although, I am feeling loads better this week tbh, haven't been sick at all, and nausea has calmed right down, and getting my energy back! So I am prepping a little healthy meal plan and exercise plan to start as of Monday - so fingers crossed my symptoms don't come back before then lol.

I'm definitely interested in yoga too, I used to do Yoga by Adrienne on Youtube before pregnancy and I think she has done a prenatal yoga one - I will see if I can find it.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone Smile

@BobbleWobble1 that's exciting we share the same due date. I've got a wee IVF baby on board so I've been told they won't let me go much past my due date as I'm higher risk.

I've been trying to keep exercising throughout. Luckily I've not been affected by sickness but the tiredness was bad. I try to walk everyday and do what I can, but as someone who was really active before, it's hard to readjust and accept that I can't manage the level of activity I'm used to. Thankfully the tiredness has eased a bit now I'm into my second trimester.

expectinglittlebear · 30/07/2021 12:06

Has anybody else's sense of smell been UNREAL?! I can smell literally everything and it is so strong. My DH smokes and normally I can never smell it on him when he comes back in, but oh god the smell of cigarette smoke on him is insane now, I having been making him spray with aftershave and everything the second he comes in..

Tangfastic91 · 30/07/2021 13:08

@expectinglittlebear omg yes. Except for me I can't stand the smell of my own house. It doesn't 'smell' (I think) but ugh I hate it. It's the hallway, if I'm in a room where the door to the hall is open it's fine because I get used to it. If I go into the hall from a closed room 🤢. Not sure air freshener would help either, the one I put in the bathroom almost made me yak

ReginaaPhalange · 30/07/2021 13:37

@expectinglittlebear I had the dishwasher dismantled as I could smell rotten food, everything was scrubbed, pipes all cleaned and a super hot wash with a dishwasher cleaner and I can still smell it! DH says it smells of bloody lemon lol!

expectinglittlebear · 30/07/2021 13:51

@ReginaaPhalange @Tangfastic91 Glad I'm not the only one!! It is insane! I've had to stop wearing my daily perfume as the smell of it is so strong at the moment, it gives me a headache!

andreavesi · 30/07/2021 14:11

@expectinglittlebear thanks for the yoga tip! I found the videos and did one, first bit of exercise in 3 months 💪🏻

OMG @Tangfastic91 I can't stand the smell of my own house either!!! God, thank you for sharing this, I thought I was going insane. We moved house in December and we've been doing some renovation work, I know some areas are still 'old' but I couldn't smell it before?? I literally hold my breath. We've decorated the entire house, renovated a small bathroom (that did smell old) AND I CAN STILL SMELL IT 🤯
Does this go away at some point during the pregnancy?
I am loading up on diffusers, literally everywhere.

Jonesy88 · 30/07/2021 14:39

I also have smell problems. Mine is the toilet (no matter how much it is cleaned), various shower gels, and sometimes DH just smells “chemically” even if he’s just had a shower.

andreavesi · 30/07/2021 15:08

@Jonesy88 I can relate too, I cannot stand the smell of hairspray and various other toilet products 😅

spttc · 30/07/2021 15:16

Lol to the ladies talking about the smell of your own house! That's not ideal. I had very strong sense of smell earlier on...maybe 9-10 weeks mark but now I'm grand. I'm sort of off food but that's it thank god. And the vomiting 🙄🙄🙄🙄

andreavesi · 30/07/2021 16:05

@spttc glad to know the strong sense of smell will calm down 😅 So sorry about your nausea and vomiting though, I hope it gets better soon ✨

I hope in a month or so all the ladies in the group will be talking about how much better we all feel!!! 🤞🏻 I dream of that day 😆

sociallydistained · 30/07/2021 16:09

I cannot stand the smell of my beloved flat at the moment. I don’t have this problem with anyone else’s houses though? Wtf. Sense of smell is very strong and overpowering in general but the smell of my flat is really upsetting me. DP has bought lots of things to trying “mask” whatever it is even though he can’t smell anything lol. I’m not sure smelling lots of chemicals is a good idea either. Nightmare

Tangfastic91 · 30/07/2021 20:31

Glad I'm not the only one sick of the smell of their clean and normal homes 🤣... Hanging on to what I hope is that magical 16 week nausea lifting (after previously believing it would be 12 weeks Hmm)

ReginaaPhalange · 31/07/2021 00:09

Checked my maternity notes app for my screening results which are low, including PAPP-A, so after a quick google on an nhs page, I'm worried!! :(

tinydancingbean · 31/07/2021 08:18

@ReginaaPhalange I had low risk on trisomy screening tests but also a low Papp-A level - doesn’t change the trisomy risks but was explained to me that it can be linked to low birth weight babies so I will have extra growth scans later on. I’m choosing to see these as just more chances to see the baby, and am generally happy they will be taking extra care of us. Nothing I can do about it, and it doesn’t seem like the evidence on it is very clear or certain, but it did worry me a bit too initially. Its rubbish to find out stuff like this from an app - I was told in person and could ask questions which really helped. Google is not your friend on this one I think. Maybe you can talk it through with your midwife after the weekend to get some reassurance?

ReginaaPhalange · 31/07/2021 10:34

@tinydancingbean its such a worry and after seeing it on the app, the first thing I did was google but looked at the nhs results as not to worry me too much.

Basically what I'm taking from it is:

Chances of premature birth
Chances of lower birth weight
Chance of miscarriage in second and third trimester
Likely to have to give birth on the labour ward and consultant lead
Likely to be induced around due date
Extra scans between 28-36 weeks.

I did notice an appointment has also been made for me at week 28 at the hospital, so I guess that's a scan or to meet the consultant?

tinydancingbean · 31/07/2021 10:56

@ReginaaPhalange my extra scans start at 28 weeks so maybe it’s for that?

Its not a great list is it but it’s just an indicator of an increased risk and doesn’t mean any of those things will actually happen. It’s like having a clue to have a heads up for something but it doesn’t predict that they will happen. Found loads of women who had it reporting no issues at all too which reassured me.

As an older and ivf mum I’m at higher risk anyway so for me it doesn’t change much, but if it’s more unexpected for you it must be harder to wrap your head round.
