I just want sweet stuff all the time!
Preferable CAKE! Literally don't want normal food for my meals, just cake! I'm usually very savoury in none pregnant life so this is a new thing!

I don't particularly feel sick with food I just don't fancy aaaaaanything!!! Yet I'm starving?

@babyD20 I forget I'm pregnant sometimes! All I have are bigger boobs and nips, off waves of nausea, and wanting cake 🤣

CNizzle · 12/07/2021 15:30

@lkb89 I'm all about the savoury. Had to fill the cupboards with mini pretzels, quavers, salt & vinegar rice cakes & wee chicken bites so I've always got something fairly low cal to hand!
I'm gutted to gave completely gone off coffee. I'm a total coffee-nut, and had bought loads of decaf beans, but I can’t stand the smell at all ☹

Got private scan booked for Thursday (8+3) to check I'm not just making all this up! Still fairly convinced there'll be nothing there.

Winterfellismyhome · 12/07/2021 15:37

Ive fallen in love with salt and vinegar spirals but Tesco and Sainsbury's were both sold out today! Sad

I'm back.

Just had a scan. Measuring two days ahead which is nice. Currently 9 weeks and 3 days.

Good news after a mmc at Christmas last year.

Good luck all

Hi all, please can I join?

Pregnant with my second, due 2/2 so I think I’m 10+5. I had my booking in last week and the midwife said that the new advice is now that no caffeine is advised during pregnancy at all! Has anyone else had the same advice?

Sleepyquest · 12/07/2021 16:24

Hi @apintofwine you're almost the same as me and second baby too! No I wasn't told that and I wouldn't be able to abide by that. I've cut out tea but still have chocolate and the occasional Coca Cola!

apintofwine · 12/07/2021 16:34

I think I may block the conversation from my memory as the paperwork she gave me still says the old 200mg advice.

I’ve cut down to one coffee and one tea a day, might give decaf a try but surely not all the time!

How old is your first? Mine is 2 in aug…

apintofwine · 12/07/2021 16:35

Sorry meant to put reply to you @Sleepyquest
choccrumpet · 12/07/2021 16:42

@apintofwine I haven't had my midwife appointment yet so don't know what she'll say about caffeine but I have read before that no amount of caffeine is considered safe (not sure if that wording is quite right) so maybe that's where she's coming from? Same as alcohol really, no amount is considered safe. I'm interested to hear what mine says. I'm continuing to have one coffee a day whether it's normal or decaf 🤷🏼‍♀️

Sleepyquest · 12/07/2021 16:43

@apintofwine she will be 2 in November! So very similar Smile

apintofwine · 12/07/2021 17:07

@choccrumpet yes I know what you mean - I’ve read before that no amount is safe, but NHS have always stuck by 200mg. She was saying it in a “bit off the press” way, and implying NHS advice would change. But think I will stick with my one coffee like you say!

@Sleepyquest ah lovely, I’m so excited to see them together! Although so tired that the thought of two does terrify me a little

Peachi82 · 12/07/2021 17:51

Alcohol is something completely else. As it can really damage the fetus/baby in utero with life long complications. So yes, no amount of alcohol is safe.

I am more relaxed with caffeine, I have one cup a day, sometimes a glass of coke or some chocolate.

whistlers · 12/07/2021 18:19

I have a cup of tea a day, it's fine

CaramelWaferAndTea · 12/07/2021 20:10

Found the new thread!

7+3 today and had an EPU scan - second one due to previous ectopic. This time they could see a strong heartbeat. I’m feeling really sick a lot of the time and slowly losing any tolerance of caffeine 😴

Getting increasingly difficult to hide not drinking too. Can’t remember what I did last time! Any tips?

LKB89 · 12/07/2021 21:05

Oh god chocolate has caffeine in? Wow I must be flying 🤣 it's all I eat! I'm obsessed with mini Colin the caterpillar's from M&S!!

I have switched to decaf, I found Asda's own is the nicest so far, even more than Nescafé, got like a caramelly taste!

I can't cut out my brews tho! Love an evening cuppa with said Colins!

If I can't have wine I'm having my brews 😝

Skybooks · 12/07/2021 22:15

Ah I miss hot drinks so much, I can never stomach tea or coffee after about week 5, it's my first symptom!

I'm actually going to tell some family at 11 weeks (we will have had 2 scans) as I cant think of a reason not to drink!

feb2022 · 12/07/2021 22:33

I'm still having the odd tea/coffee it's the only thing keeping me going at the min 😅
2 very boisterous toddlers and pregnancy exhaustion ain't easy without a caffeine hit every now and again
I'm also not eating very much at all I feel very nauseous all day so a hot brew is probably most of my calorie intake for the day (apart from the odd piece of fruit or biscuits) I'm hoping my appetite comes back soon
I had very strange cravings in my last pregnancy but that was because I was anemic and I've got a feeling this one is going in the same direction 😅

Hope2022 · 13/07/2021 08:05

Hey ladies!
I’m still having a cuppa or two.. it definitely doesn’t taste as good and I’ve not had a coffee since being pregnant. I used to drink about 6-8 cups a day so I consider my 2 a good compromise 🙈

The thought of Alcohol makes me feel sick so that’s useful, I’ve found a grape schloer is a much nicer alternative to a glass of wine! 😂

So excited/anxious about private scan tomorrow!! Once we see that heart beat again (9+5) I’ll feel way more confident.. 😍😍

Is anyone else struggling to take vitamins? I’ve had to replace my pregnacare all Singing and dancing ones for folic acid and vitamin d, I feel a little guilty so every few days I’m trying but they don’t help the nausea 😩

overtherainbo · 13/07/2021 08:53

Oh gosh, I'm 9+5 today and I swear I've had a headache for two days now along side being lightheaded and nauseous 🤢

Hope2022 · 13/07/2021 09:26

@overtherainbo I was really light headed yesterday, came from no where 😩

WinsAndNeedles · 13/07/2021 09:34

Finally heard from an actually human being! The midwife just called me and booked me in for my booking appointment on Friday morning. All good apart from the fact DD's class are self isolating (again!) so DH will have to look after her instead of coming with me. Also the appointment is at the maternity hospital, which is new because they've always been at community hubs before.

So very excited but suddenly nervous.

whistlers · 13/07/2021 09:36

I take the pregnacare original last thing at night (but not on an empty stomach)!

I'm normally so fine with taking tablets but recently it's making me gag badly, also brushing my teeth!

Hope2022 · 13/07/2021 10:02

@WinsAndNeedles glad you’ve finally had contact!! 😍

@whistlers I May try late evening and see if that helps! 😊

Haha! I’m the opposite, I’ve found cleaning my teeth after most meals helps me 🙈

Sleepyquest · 13/07/2021 10:08

@Hope2022 I can't take the multi vits, they make me vom. Just having folic acid and vit d. Did the same for my last pregnancy!

I think my nausea is getting worse again and I have a horrible taste in my mouth all the time and everything stinks Confused my DH keeps saying not everything smells! But it does

whistlers · 13/07/2021 10:11

Oh EVERYTHING smells. Everything.

I'm washing my hands every 5 seconds and boiled sweets seem to help the mouth taste and stop me being able to smell everything!

Just called the GP, because last pregnancy they referred me to the midwives. Now it's all self referral on line. First in a lot of differences ahead I think!
