Hi Ladies, I've been getting impatient lately as my energy has dropped and I'm huge! Baby is measuring ahead and I have extra amniotic fluid around the baby. They are talking about induction so I guess its nearly time for me...

Anybody else? X

RachShad · 07/07/2021 10:38

@onanadventure how far are you now? I don't have an appointment until next Tuesday so won't know anything more until then but I'm only 38+4, I was just hoping for an early birth😂😂 but omg @BlackberrySt how many days have you gone over? I bet your getting so impatient, I really hope I don't go over, the wait is so annoying!!

onanadventure · 07/07/2021 10:56

I'm similar to you - 39 weeks on Friday and was desperately hoping baby would be early.

I'm currently sitting on my birthing ball doing google digital garage to up my website SEO skills, and some admin for my coaching work, but just impatient. :D

I don't do well not doing much - and I feel massively in limbo in the 'waiting'.

RachShad · 07/07/2021 11:07

Yeah I feel the same with the waiting! I finished work at 36 weeks because I had 2 weeks hol to use but sitting round doing nothing is really hard, especially when everyone around me is at work all week so I can't ask many people to do stuff. I'm trying to keep busy round the house and I really look forward to my partner being off on a weekend so we can go for walks etc but at the same time I can't go far without needing a wee every 10 mins and having sore hips!! Feel like crying honestly I just want her out!😂😂🙈

Ctvyh7h7 · 07/07/2021 12:38

Hi @onanadventure I think 1/5 engaged is more engaged than 5/5 engaged so basically your baby is fully engaged ready to be born. See this - www.nct.org.uk/pregnancy/who-will-care-for-you-during-pregnancy/pregnancy-maternity-notes-understanding-them#:~:text=Meaning%20of%20abbreviations%20used%20in%20maternity%20notes,-Urine%20test%20results&text=1%2F5%20or%200%2F5,not%20until%20labour%20has%20started.

That said, I've been deeply engaged since 32 weeks and no signs of anything happening anytime soon

BlackberrySt · 07/07/2021 12:49

@RachShad I’m not even over haha! My due date is tomorrow.

It’s just weird sitting about waiting for a massive life changing event (and knowing it’s going to hurt) isn’t it?

Good idea @onanadventure working on your SEO skills. I’ve been volunteering for a charity (I was working F/T before maternity leave too) so extra volunteering kept me busy the last few weeks. Agree it’s hard to fill the time though!

onanadventure · 07/07/2021 12:50

Ah. I'd already translated it in my head. Notes say 4/5 palpetable or whatever it is, so essentially only 1/5 engaged.

Not that it's confusing at all

Ctvyh7h7 · 07/07/2021 13:10

@onanadventure yes it's very confusing! Some babies don't engage until labour though too so it might not mean much. Hopefully your little one arrives soon.

@RachShad @BlackberrySt I started maternity leave today and had all my jobs done by lunchtime 🙈 now I don't know what to do with myself too. Think it's going to be a long wait...! 👶

RachShad · 07/07/2021 13:15

When do they check how engaged you are and how do they even do that?😂😂🙈 I'm not very clued up on all this! @Ctvyh7h7
& ahh! @BlackberrySt I thought you'd gone over for some reason, must have read it wrong! But I hope it isn't much longer for you!! 🤞
It definitely is a long wait...your watching out for any kinda pain as well😂 but I really think we will know when it's happening! 😂🙈

onanadventure · 07/07/2021 13:21

They've had a feel about in my last couple of appointments to see how far baby's head is into my pelvis.

Its the 4/5 palpetable box in your notes if anything like mine.

Ctvyh7h7 · 07/07/2021 13:33

@RachShad - same for me as @onanadventure says above about the midwife having a feel around and it being in the notes. Also confirmed during a growth scan. But it can't mean much if my baby has been fully engaged for 6/7 weeks!

If its a long wait for baby, I wonder if maternity leave (with baby) is also going to feel a bit slow 😬

My fella is working from home and I made the mistake of washing my hair this morning and I can't use the hairdryer without disturbing his back to back calls. So im impatiently waiting for my hair to dry so that I can go out for a walk for something to do 🤣

RachShad · 07/07/2021 14:26

Ah my midwife doesn't even use the notes anymore its all on this app thing but nothing gets put onto it so I have no clue haha, I have an appointment next week so I'll ask then. Ah no I bet it flies over when baby is actually here!! But ah bless you, I'm planning on going for a walk soon too! Try and get things moving abit haha

BlackberrySt · 08/07/2021 12:37

So... update from me. Had an attempted sweep this morning but the midwife couldn’t get into my cervix. Good news is the baby is engaged and my cervix has moved down (? I think that’s what she said) so things are happening at least even though the sweep wouldn’t work. Have to wait another week for 2nd sweep, hopefully things happen by themselves before then!

In other news I’m at the hospital for monitoring as the pattern of the baby’s movements have changed. Things are looking ok - just waiting for the dr to confirm I can leave again, but they’re in surgery atm so I might be waiting a little while.

How’s everyone else doing?

RachShad · 08/07/2021 13:46

Ahhh it's good that they've gave you a sweep on your due date though and not let you go over too much, even though I know you say it wasn't possible. Aw you will need to go on lots of walks this next week and hopefully get this moving before your next one!! Fingers crossed for you that baby doesn't keep you waiting much longer. I'm 39 weeks on Saturday and just praying labour happens naturally. X

RachShad · 08/07/2021 21:34

Does anyone else at nearly 39 weeks have alot of pressure down below and it feels sore almost. I feel like her head is so so low its uncomfortable?

BlackberrySt · 08/07/2021 21:49

Hmm kinda - I mainly notice when I’m walking about but sometimes it feels like he’s head butting my cervix too, I’ll have a sharp twinge?

Not sure if I have the right end of the stick here so please someone correct if I’m wrong, but I think basically their head resting/bouncing around by your cervix releases a hormone which eventually makes your cervix dilate for labour. So though it’s uncomfortable it’s a good sign?

Hopefully I haven’t just invented that ‘fact’ haha!

RachShad · 08/07/2021 23:25

Oh yeah I get the sharp pains as well! It's definitely worse when walking about. Ahh I hope that's what it means haha thankyou!! Keep us informed with any progress!!

BastardMonkfish · 08/07/2021 23:32

Hi everyone, I'm 37+4 today. The days are going so slowly!
I had a section booked for next Friday as baby was breech but she kindly turned (I think swimming helped) so I'm now booked in for induction next Thursday.
I really want things to get moving spontaneously- or at least to be a bit dilated and ready by the time of induction! So I am trying everything!

Tuesday -had a super hot spicy dinner
Wednesday - ate loads of pineapple, went swimming
Today - been out for a walk, bouncing on the ball (I am feeling a bit more pressure after this so I think it's helping a bit), had sex, drinking raspberry leaf tea oh and started colostrum harvesting - got some super braxton hicks and a gush of discharge while doing this.

BlackberrySt · 09/07/2021 07:17

Woah @BastardMonkfish that’s quite the effort! Good work 🙂 I feel like bouncing on the ball makes a big difference as well. Haven’t had much luck with the colostrum harvesting. Have to do it for ages just for the tiniest drops. Hope it all helps you get dilated at least.

How are you both @onanadventure and @Ctvyh7h7?

onanadventure · 09/07/2021 09:36

I'm good thanks.
Getting my jab today (lesser nervous evil as I was beginning to have panic attacks outside and anxiety attacks about going outside).

Otherwise, just impatient for baby.

Lots of ball bouncing and long walks :D
Picking up some fruit etc too (I hate pineapple so that's not an option) and getting a curry later.

Olivebranch26 · 09/07/2021 09:45

Hi Ladies, sorry I've been absent for so long. Thankyou everyone who congratulated me if your still around and patiently waiting for your turn. Its been crazy these past few days I've been home, especially with my toddler and the lack of sleep. I think having an EMCS has been hard since I've not been able to do much but focus on healing. I'm starting to feel good 5 days later and I'm able to do plenty now. Feeling normal ish again and far less emotional/hormonal.

Good luck to all who are still waiting for you little ones Grin

BlackberrySt · 09/07/2021 09:55

Ah sorry to hear about the anxiety - it’s not nice. I used to have panic attacks on the tube so understand how it feels to be worried about going out. Good luck for the jab. Mine was fine, just a sore arm. Hope it doesn’t make you feel grotty - it’s tiring enough being massive haha

My midwife did recommend having sex but I’m so not in the mood!

BlackberrySt · 09/07/2021 09:56

Thanks @Olivebranch26 🙂 glad you’re starting to feel more normal again!

Ctvyh7h7 · 09/07/2021 10:16

Sounds scary @Olivebranch26 but glad you are starting to feel better already.

Hope the jab doesn't affect you @onanadventure and that the bouncing works - Keep us posted!

@RachShad I think we have the same DD - 17th?

@blackberrySt I'm starting to get nervous now about labour. Had BH last night and was wondering if that was early stages but it didn't lead to anything. I'm too nervous to try anything to try and speed it up (and also don't feel very sexy whilst heavily pregnant!) but at the same time with a heatwave looming and covid cases rising i think practically sooner would be better - I'm just a bit scared 😬

RachShad · 09/07/2021 10:27

Yes @Ctvyh7h7 I'm due 17th too! Let me know when things start happening for you :)

BastardMonkfish · 09/07/2021 11:05

How are you both @onanadventure and @Ctvyh7h7?

Yeah I've only gathered 0.05ml so far but my friends tell me it speeds up as you keep trying!
