@Sycamore89 thanks for sharing! I’m not great with needles and the receptionist who scheduled me in said there wouldn’t be a blood test. Most in person booking appointments seem to involve one though so I think I probably need to prepare myself mentally for it just in case haha.

@becarefuloutthere it’s so strange how different areas are still varied with whether they’re allowing them in person yet! Especially since most people tend to have some tests! Do they send home kits for you to test with since you’ve had yours over the phone? Or just forego that bit?

becarefuloutthere · 04/07/2021 18:16

@glasspaw no idea! Didn't even know any tests were done so I guess I'll hear more on the call. Few more days to go now!

Hi all,

I found this thread and thought I commented but I can't see it, so I'll post again. I had my positive last Monday at 6 weeks exactly. This will be my third living child, but we struggle with fertility issues- it took years and loses to conceive my eldest and then my second daughter was an ivf baby after fertility diagnosis- we had 10 miscarriages before we conceive her. She is almost 2 and we have had two losses before this cycle. Hence why I didn't test until week 6, it's much easier in mind if I miscarry early to not have known, if that makes sense. But it was blatantly obvious I was pregnant- tiredness, excess weeing in the night and the cramping/ muscle stretching, vomiting and nausea is back combined with a lovely dry retching cough if something touches my neck wrong or a very sudden dry mouth, which is a bit embarrassing with Covid all around.

I went to say my fingers are crossed for good news for all of you with bleeding and my heart goes out to you, I feel and know your pain x

Lcj80 · 04/07/2021 18:44

Massive congratulations, what a journey you’ve been on 💖 Sending lots of positive vibes your way for a healthy pregnancy. Very reassuring you are having lots of symptoms too! Xx

Trinacham · 04/07/2021 19:51

@glasspaw if you're worried about needles I can recommend EMLA cream! I was nervous of having the blood test at my booking appointment as I'd never had one. I'm generally alright with needles but for some reason I was not so keen for my blood test. I applied the cream an hour before my appointment and can truthfully say I did not feel a thing. I have a family history of gestational diabetes and type 2 diabetes so planning to use this again when I start finger prick testing, as it worked so well to keep me calm.

glasspaw · 04/07/2021 21:19

@Trinacham ooh I’ve had that before when I had surgery. Never even considered just buying some to apply myself! Great idea

Mummysausage36 · 05/07/2021 07:16

My bleeding has got worse and I've got cramps in my stomach and back. The bleeding is starting to get more like a period im going to call the Drs shortly but I'm not feeling positive.

Skybooks · 05/07/2021 08:21

@mummysausage36 I hope you are ok, look after yourself and push to be seen.

KM11 · 05/07/2021 08:36

@Mummysausage36 really hope everything turns out ok. I've got my early scan today after severe cramping for 6 days and I'm so anxious xx

Lcj80 · 05/07/2021 08:38

@Mummysausage36 hope you manage to get seen lovely, wishing you the best and will be thinking of you, you too @KM11, hope your scan goes well xx

Sleepyquest · 05/07/2021 08:55

@glasspaw there will definitely be a blood test! And I'm afraid you will need to get used to them as there will be many. I used to have a phobia but started having them regularly due to a health condition and now I'm not phased at all. Hope you will get used to them quickly Smile

Sorry to hear some bad news on this thread too Sad hoping everything goes well for those suffering from bleeding

Mummysausage36 · 05/07/2021 11:50

Thank you everyone, I've been to the Drs this morning and have been referred to epau for a scan so I'm waiting for an appointment it could take a week though. I wish everyone going through similar luck, it's so horrible xx

Peachi82 · 05/07/2021 12:17

Mummysausage
All the best for you!

I'm feeling very crampy today... Dreading to go to the loo in case there is blood :-(

overtherainbo · 05/07/2021 12:39

For the girls asking about the booking appointment. I've just had mine.

Urine sample
Blood sample
Carbon monoxide test
Blood pressure
Weight and height

Your health background
Your family's health background
Past pregnancy info

Midwife then sorts:
Any prescriptions she thinks you need
Any further checks
Any extra appointments needed

You then walk away with your pregnancy record that you take to all further appointments ☺️

SR092 · 05/07/2021 12:56

@overtherainbo glad your appointment went okay! How many weeks are you? I’m approaching 8 weeks and not heard from my midwife yet.

becarefuloutthere · 05/07/2021 13:08

@overtherainbo thanks for the summary. Mines over the phone so be interesting to see what they do re all the samples! Hope they post out my record. Glad all went well with yours!
@SR092 usually it's before 10 weeks so hopefully it'll be soon now. 🤞🏾

vmfwh · 05/07/2021 13:31

@Mummysausage36 all the best! There's a few of us on here in a similar situation...please stay positive. Wishing you all the best and really hope you get that scan soon :)

overtherainbo · 05/07/2021 13:35

@SR092 I'm 8+4 today, I've had contact with my midwife for around 2 weeks now. I did try to get through to her through the drs but ended up ringing the community midwives in the hospital who forwarded all my details on and I got a call back within 2 days

@becarefuloutthere oh I wonder how they will do the checks too, what area do you live? I'm Middlesbrough

SR092 · 05/07/2021 13:44

@overtherainbo thank you. I’ve had an email saying they will contact me but almost 2 weeks ago, so going to chase it. Just seen your Middlesbrough, are you under a south tees trust? Just I’m near Northallerton and will be under south Tees :)

LKB89 · 05/07/2021 13:55

@Mummysausage36
So sorry you're going through this, lots of love ❤️

I'm still spotting! Day 6 now, getting really tired of it and constantly worried!
Still light brown, few spots in knickers over the days but mostly when I wee.
I'm home from London where it seemed to be worse there than it does today, maybe all the walking pushed more out? Or hopefully clearing up.....God knows!

I rang the EPU and they don't seem too worried with the colour and consistency, I have a scan booked there on Friday anyway, as I have an ongoing huge ovarian cyst consultation, when I went to gynae for my appt on that Friday 25th I told them I was pregnant, checked the baby too on the scan and could only see a sac then, I was only 5.5 weeks so probably too early hence why I am back this Friday to check viability, just don't feel confident with this spotting.

I have no morning sickness, I've felt the odd bout of nausea sometimes briefly when I wake up, goes quickly, or the odd wave in the day. But really nothing super noticeable? Nothing at all today yet!
Boobs are still full and heavy but no where near as tender or sore! Driving me crazy all this! X

LKB89 · 05/07/2021 13:58

@Trinacham
Sorry I didn't reply, was a hectic weekend!
You really did reassure me thank you, I'm just so concerned, feel like I'm looking for reasons I'm miscarrying? X

becarefuloutthere · 05/07/2021 14:15

@overtherainbo I'm in London. I wonder if they'll just send me to my local hospital for the checks or maybe book it in with my gp? Time will tell I guess!
@LKB89 ah sorry to hear but glad you're getting checked out soon. All the best 🍀

Peachi82 · 05/07/2021 15:06

Those that have their midwife appointment over the phone probably get an extra appointment by the midwife in the antenatal clinic for bloods and urine.
Even though I had the appointment in person for my miscarried pregnancy she didn't have right tubes for my bloods, so I was booked into antenatal clinic for first bloods.

I didn't receive any notes for the miscarried pregnancy as we never managed to get to the 12 week scan and this is where they give you the notes home. At least with my trust, it seems to be different everywhere. Feels weird to have nothing but the pee sticks :-( I miss this baby so much.

I can't remember how it was with my son in 2017 to be honest.

overtherainbo · 05/07/2021 15:13

@SR092 yes south tees. Definitely chase things up then if you're local to me, I just rang the community midwives this way.
