So this may be a little early to even start a thread. I got a positive digital test at 3 weeks 5 days. Today I am 4 weeks. From the date of my last period (11th January), my due date would be 18th October 2021 I know it's very early days and anything (literally) can happen but I was hoping to find like minded people!

When do people generally contact their GP?

@8dpwoah - that's all good to know, thank you!! It's funny, I feel like I'm entering a whole new world of weird admin stuff that I have simply no clue about!

@pixiedust21 I feel totally the same way - happy but very dazed, like it's not at all real. And walking the line between excited but not too excited is really hard!

@MeltingSnowflake oh my goodness I'm constantly thirsty too!! I didn't even think of it as being a symptom until you said! Feel like I'm just drinking water and then needing the loo constantly 😂😂 xx

Hi @pixiedust21 I’m so put off by food, made a roast dinner last night and had two mouthfuls. Almost feeling like I have to force eat!

Hi everyone,
Can I join please?
I'm 7 weeks 6 days and EDD is 1st October.
We had an early reassurance scan today where we saw the little heartbeat and all is looking really good. Feels much more real now!
So far have been lucky with pregnancy symptoms and not had an awful lot of sickness.
How is everyone doing? X

@mabelelsie yes exactly !! Glad it's not just me. Wasn't even sure if it was really a pregnancy thing but it has to be as I'm usually fine with eating haha.

@jellybean13419 aw that must have been amazing to hear the heartbeat. I think until I do that or have a scan I'm not really going to believe I am pregnant! Lol.

Ok so just took another test to be sure Grin need to stop this madness haha.

I had been using Superdrug own tests so had a random thought of what if they were faulty Hmm so just did a FRER and yep definitely a pink line.

Oh god... I really am pregnant!!! Shock

Welcome everyone!!!

How amazing that you've had your early scan! Was it an abdomen scan or internal? I've got one booked for 8 weeks + 4 days and they said anything under 10 we recommend internal but I'm undecidided!

My bmi is 31 and midwife has also prescribed me the higher dosage of folic acid so I'm glad I phoned early so I have started those!

@cooper96 I am calling tomorrow as I need higher dose of folic acid too. My BMI is 32 and I'm worried :( just about the reaction not necessarily the pregnancy!

Was anything else said about your BMI other than the folic acid?

I'm just worried I'll be treated like the only overweight woman to ever have a baby which is insane and I know it'll likely be fine.

I was the same I wasn't going to mention it as it was over the phone and knew I wasn't going to be weighed. I last went to the doctors about 2 years ago and I'm around 2 stone heavier now than I was then so I didn't want them to assume I'm the same weight.

I rang the GP initially to advise pregnant and query folic acid and they advised to raise with midwife. GP didn't even comment on it at all. When I rang the midwife to give all details I gave weight and raised concern myself about folic acid etc and she said no problem that's fine we will send prescription request to GP and within 10 mins had confirmation off chemist. No further comments were made.

Just be honest with them. They will have seen bigger people give birth and I don't think I'm "unhealthy" to be honest and I also don't want to make any rash weight loss decisions now because online says it can be unsafe and try to maintain your weight. Of course I'm walking more and having fruit but not going on a mad crash diet x

@cooper96 ah that's good to know thank you. Yes I know logically of course women my size and bigger have and will continue to have babies with no problems.

My focus anyway is on eating well and walking more and i have actually lost 4 pounds this week (not intentionally by dieting) just because I have fancied fewer things and what I've had has been healthier I guess.

But that's good. I want to make sure I'm taking the right dose of folic acid so I'll get on to them :)

Exciting times!! Hoping for a healthy pregnancy for us all :)

@cooper96 how do you know if you should be on a higher dose of folic acid? I have just been taking the normal amount and my BMI is 30(a load of rubbish and I don't agree that I'm obese but that argument is for another day)

Did you just find out on the internet? I haven't spoken to anyone yet, have taken a form back into my Dr and they said someone would contact me early next week.

@pixiedust21 and @MeltingSnowflake that is exactly how I feel, it's all very surreal and I just can't believe it. I have done a test every few days and I really should stop.

Report
pixiedust21 · 18/02/2021 21:30

@Kittysw if you Google overweight and folic acid (great search terms boosting my self esteem again yay 🙄) it should come up. It's recommended if your BMI is 30 or over but it may be something you want to speak about with your doc.

I'm calling mine tomorrow anyway as I need advice regardless about another medication I'm on so will ask about the folic acid then.

Also yes I bought a whole load of tests and have tested every day for the last 3 days!! Finally used a Clearblue digital which says "pregnant" so maybe that should put my mind at ease .... you would think!

Hi @cooper96
I totally expected it to be internal but it was abdominal. Not sure why to be honest. But the ultrasound was still so clear on the screen and the sonographer could see all he needed too! Where are you having yours? How many weeks along are you at the moment? The reassurance scan was the best investment and would recommend to anyone. The 8 week wait until the Dating Scan just felt like forever to me, all guessing, worrying and wondering if it really is happening!

Kittysw · 18/02/2021 21:40

@pixiedust21 Thank you I will have a little look at that then. I think it is so wrong to label like they do with BMI I mean I'm a size 10/12 yet I'm classes as obese!! I will mention it to them when they call me next week and just see what they say.

I did the same with the Clearblue digital and the one which says how many weeks thinking that would help but for me it hasn't and I still keep testing. It's an expensive habit.

I pay not attention to BMI I have a friend who is pure muscle and comes up morbidly obese on the BMI scale.

I have a BMI of 29 and convinced 5 of that is boobs.

@Kona84 your comment about boobs made me laugh. I agree - I would say the majority of my weight is there too!!!

Dread to think what they'll be like with pregnancy..

Does anyone just feel like there period is going to arrive at any moment? Cramps and lots of cm. Driving me mad!

Report
pixiedust21 · 19/02/2021 13:08

@mabelelsie yes I keep getting period type cramps and it feels just like before I get it.... makes me a bit Hmm

I don't have a lot of CM though I don't know if that's good or bad Hmm a couple of weeks ago before I tested positive I had a few experiences where I thought my period had come but it was just watery discharge. Sorry slightly TMI 😂

MeltingSnowflake · 19/02/2021 13:44

@mabelelsie yess!! So much cramping! I keep worrying that it's ectopic or it''s going away, but according to my friends, it's normal Confused

Hi ladies 😊
I'm due 13.10.21, but if anything like my last pregnancy, baby will be here early (I had GD and wasn't allowed to go over 39 weeks).
I'm feeling so exhausted, sluggish, nauseous, I've been sick a few times, I don't want to eat but then I feel sick from hunger 🤷‍♀️ sore boobs too and so bloated! I really don't remember feeling this bad last time, maybe because I didn't have a 4YO to entertain in lockdown lol. I've got a private scan booked for next Saturday which I'll be 7+3 going from the date of my last period 😊

Congratulations to everyone else!
