So this may be a little early to even start a thread. I got a positive digital test at 3 weeks 5 days. Today I am 4 weeks. From the date of my last period (11th January), my due date would be 18th October 2021 I know it's very early days and anything (literally) can happen but I was hoping to find like minded people!

When do people generally contact their GP?

@eloiseislost hi and congratulations! So happy for you. Can I ask, did you ask for an early scan? I also had a MC in December (my first pregnancy) I'm feeling super anxious and haven't even spoken to GP yet because I'm just expecting the worst. I think an early scan would make me feel so much better. I'm only 4+5 at the moment so I know I would still have a couple of weeks to wait

Hey, my first post!
I'm in the October due date too. Last period was 8th January. We have been TTC for 4 years and were due to start IVF with my February period. For some reason about a week before AF was due I decided to test (we hadn't really tried that month), and there was a faint positive that got stronger over the last week.
I had a chemical and a miscarriage last year so I am terrified. Now 5w2d due 15th October. I have a scan booked at 7w to check for heartbeat due to miscarriages. I am so anxious as we have been TTC for so long.
My GP asked me to fill in paperwork that they pass to the midwives who will contact me, I'm assuming it will be in a couple of weeks time.

Hi @Ellyr08 and congratulations to you too! 💕 My MC in December was also my first pregnancy so I completely understand how you feel. The NHS doesn't offer reassurance scans after 1 MC -if at all due to COVID just now 😖. So I booked a private scan. If you can afford it (they are not crazy expensive or anything, mine was £70 and it includes photos and videos sent to your phone after) I thoroughly recommend it. Also, make sure you do speak to your GP, it's important to start your antenatal care ASAP. 🙂

@eloiseislost thanks for replying, nice to know there's someone in a similar situation Smile definitely going to look into booking a private scan and going to contact GP tomorrow. I can't believe how quickly we've fallen pregnant again! Exciting but very nerve wracking x

My due date is October 16. I contacted my GP and now waiting for the letter from maternity services. Slightly bemused I'll be classed as geriatric pregnancy this time around! I already have a 3 year old boy. Not sure what possessed us to have another one Grinbut here we go! Good luck everyone!

Hi everyone Smile
Got my positive test on 11/02, due 14/10.
This is baby number two, our son is nearly 18 months so we will have our hands full too!
Got an early scan booked for this Saturday, just to check it's in the right place and there's just the one.
I rang and also booked in with the GP and have a midwife appointment booked for mid March.
Does anyone have any symptoms yet? I'm 5+5 and have just had major fatigue and slight nausea now and then but nothing major.

Congratulations all Thanks

If you DM @crabette I think she will add you to the October FB group although she's on the other October thread not this one you're very welcome.

I’ve tried to PM both user names but get a notification that they don’t exist

Oh that's strange @kona84 maybe it's because they're not on this thread. If you want to say hi on the other October thread they're there, I think I clicked on their name to PM and it worked.

Congrats to you too @yellowspot !

Has anyone else contacted their GP yet? I called this morning and was advised to fill an online form out and I've got a telephone appointment tomorrow morning. Don't know what to expect as it's our first pregnancy. Assume will be referred on to midwife? Or will they do bloods etc first? Xx

I haven’t yet, I phoned at week 5 last time and appointment was at 8 weeks and it was just to weigh, questions, blood I think but I didn’t get that far as I had started bleeding the morning of the appointment. I’m scared to book it this time round

@cooper96 i called the self referral number given to me from my Gp today. I was asked a few question then given a face to face appointment for 10th March just after my 8 week point. I was told i will have blood tests, urine tests, weight and blood pressure check at my appointment. After this appointment i will be sent an appointment letter for my 1st scan
Hope that help Smile

@cooper96 I called my GP who gave me the number for the midwife team. I called them last week and they said a midwife would call me this week. However the receptionist called me back today and said my midwife would call me back on 18th March when I will be about 10 and half weeks - for a telephone booking in appointment. So Im non the wiser tbh about what to expect, or when I will have an appointment for bloods, weight etc that everyone seems to talk about :( will definitely be booking an early scan for 8 weeks. Hope you are doing ok xx

Oh really that's annoying isn't it. I'm glad you've said that as I was thinking about waiting a few weeks before I rang but guess it's good to get the ball rolling. It's such a weird feeling I'm still doing test every few days as my brain can't process it 🤣 I need to see it to believe it and pissy sticks ain't cutting it! I've booked a private scan for 8 weeks 5 days. Hopefully everything will be okay but don't want to pre empt anything! Other half wants to start moving furniture around already!! Xx

I called to self-refer this morning, started the call saying it was my first and I had literally no clue about anything, only to be told they wouldn’t assign me unless I decided where I wanted to give birth. Confused

I can only assume that what they meant was ‘which hospital’s care would you like to be under’, but that’s not what they actually said. No explanation, just CHOOSE NOW. They said it was personal preference. I repeated that it was my first and I didn’t know anything and I didn’t know what I was supposed to have a preference about.

Is there an ofsted or tripadvisor equivalent?! I am baffled and called because I wanted help and reassurance but now I have to go through it tomorrow again Sad

@wirralsquirrel21 it is my first pregnancy too so I have no idea what to expect. They asked me this too when I called them, however they worded it 'i know it seems early but would you want a home birth or hospital/maternity centre birth'
I think it's because they have certain midwives that look after home birth mums and ones that look after hospital birth ones.
Doesn't seem to be much information on my trusts website either tbh
Hope you get your appointment soon xx

@cooper96 yes definitely recommend calling as early as you can, won't do any harm :) maybe I will get all my bloods etc done at my 12 week scan instead, it just feels very lonely and like you are left on your own up to that point! So I am going to book my private scan for 8 weeks xx

Took a test at the earliest opportunity - 6 days early today! This will be baby number 2, how am I going to manage with the chaos?! Feel like I'm always on a quest for 5 mins peace as it is and never seem to get it. Also how can I love another baby as much as I do now? I told myself if I were to get pregnant again I would try relax and enjoy the pregnancy more this time around but here I am again worrying til no end. I know it's early to think too much in to it but can't help but be hopeful

Morning! I had my GP consultation this morning which lasted a whole 2 mins! Congratulations / do you drink / do you smoke / if you feel sick, ring me / here's the midwife's number. I have rang the midwife gone through personal details and family health history etc. Asked me to take vitamin d as well as folic acid as research is showing it helps prevent covid. The midwife asked me where I want to deliver as this will be where the scan / bloods etc will be as well as the labour. Provisionally chosen but she said don't feel rushed and take until the end of the week to research and then text to confirm so she can send the referral off. I will get a booking in and scan at 12 weeks and then see the midwife at 16 weeks. Really thought there would be a sooner appointment for bloods or something to confirm it? Soo glad I have booked the early scan in now 🤞🤞xx
