So this may be a little early to even start a thread. I got a positive digital test at 3 weeks 5 days. Today I am 4 weeks. From the date of my last period (11th January), my due date would be 18th October 2021 I know it's very early days and anything (literally) can happen but I was hoping to find like minded people!

When do people generally contact their GP?

@sierraleona123 I'm so sorry to hear this. It's the worst news to hear at a scan. Take care of yourself and take the time you need to process it and grieve.xx

@notagrownup oh that is lovely news 🥰 sorry your partner couldn't be with you though!

@notagrownup Congratulations! Must be such a relief.

Out of interest, how many places aren't letting fathers in for scans? Can't believe that's still happening. I'm lucky in that I've been told DH can attend 12w and 20w scans. He was also allowed in the EPU for scan when I went a couple of weeks ago. I just assumed that was the same everywhere now.

@Raggeo where I am (Newcastle) I've been told partners can attend all scan appointments now too, and I also assumed this was the case everywhere!

@notagrownup glad things went well! Partners allowed in briefly here

Does anyone know about dentists when pregnant I have had toothache all week and not sure if its free yet or have to wait til later on with some sort of certificate?

Report
jellybean13419 · 23/03/2021 19:49

@poodlepip my midwife gave me the form to fill in at my booking appointment for free prescriptions and dental care. I filled it in and sent it off next day and I got it back maybe 7-10 days later. I have read that you can claim back any dental care or prescriptions you need before it comes through, not sure exactly how you go about it though!

Thank you guys, I'm feeling for serrra and didn't want to put up the photo so soon after her loss. Very relieved. Where we are they've said on the scan letters that due to the size of the scan rooms they can't accommodate social distancing so you have to attend alone but are hoping to have something sorted so that he can attend the 20 week scan - I saw a friend in there who said that they'd said that to her as well but he hadn't been allowed to come when it got to it due to lockdown. I hope you can all have them with you, you can't video in there either so he literally just had the photos. I was allowed to message him to say it was okay though as he was sat in the car worrying! And I was a mess🙈😂 the lady was lovely though which helped. actually every member of staff I met today we're really nice to me, even got a sticker for being brave for the nurse after my blood test and flu jab (I hate needles) 😂. Excited for you all to have your lovely scan photos as well! ❤️

@poodlepip literally went for a filling this morning! You can only have white ones when pregnant and it's all free (bonus!). My midwife at the booking in was very on it, she had sent me an electronic copy of the maternity exemption card about an hour after my appointment. You just print it off and take it with you . Sounds like that depends on the area though so you may have to chase it up. They usually get you to fill out an online form at the dentist and that includes an are you pregnant question. I've not even had to show it! Hope you get it sorted out, toothache sucks.

@poodlepip my midwife emailed me an exemption certificate which I can just show on my phone... I had to get a prescription before this came though but I just explained I was waiting for it and they added a form to my receipt, which I just had to fill in and bring back once I had the exemption and I claimed it back that way.

Do all dentists take the exemption certificate or only nhs ones

Quick Q - we’re planning to have the harmony test at 10+ weeks (which comes with a scan) and my midwife said if you do that, you don’t get the NHS 12 week scan as they just take the info from the 10 week scan.

I thought this was a bit odd because of the emphasis of everything being ok at 12 weeks specifically.

Is this the same for anyone else?

Cpr12 · 24/03/2021 08:24

We can have partners in to all appointments and scans, I am in Edinburgh. But I just got through my letter from the preterm birth clinic and my husband is not allowed there which is actually where I am really going to need him the most 🥺 but hey ho, I will just have to do all the fighting myself!

2 weeks today until my 12 week scan, anyone else still waiting? So over waiting 😂😂😂

@MeltingSnowflake we're doing the same I have my harmony test this Saturday but still have my NHS one booked in for the 5th April. I forgot/didn't think to tell my midwife at my app like you though so maybe that's why? Agree I'd want the official / NHS okay before being able to feel all is okay and telling family.

I've still got 3 weeks until my scan! Time is moving so slowly. I had the appointment for my bloods yesterday and they told me the local ultrasound machine has broken so my appointment place and date might change.Just hoping the scan doesn't get pushed back.

How is everyone doing?

I'm feeling really nervous about my scan later today. I always get like this before scan, it's no good. 😅

Report
Cpr12 · 24/03/2021 08:48

@meltingsnowflake we get the harmony test at our 12 week apointment on the nhs. I am sure that was what my midwife said. They dodnt offer it last time I was pregnant in 2019. But this is Scotland and the nhs differs massively. If you are paying for the harmony test at 10 weeks, I would still think you should be entitled to your 12 week scan through the nhs! Seems very unfair if not.

@raggeo fingers crossed not, hope you get it in 3 weeks! Crazy they only have one machine though, hopefully they fix it asap! Xx
