So this may be a little early to even start a thread. I got a positive digital test at 3 weeks 5 days. Today I am 4 weeks. From the date of my last period (11th January), my due date would be 18th October 2021 I know it's very early days and anything (literally) can happen but I was hoping to find like minded people!

When do people generally contact their GP?

Oooh thank you @Kona84 - I’ll try that now!

I didn’t specifically ask about aspirin - seeing her on Tuesday so I’ll ask then 👍🏻

I’ve used that 4head stuff, it’s good for headaches at the front of the head but not brilliant for the dull achey ones.

@MeltingSnowflake @whitershadeofpale I second the forehead stick thing, it seen me through my last pregnancy!

Congratulations to everyone who has had scans, I love seeing the pics.

I'm still feeling sicky on and off. Last night was awful for it, even after I had eaten as it's sometimes a hunger thing and eating helps, however hard it is to do.

I also had terrible heartburn the minute I lay down in my bed which was horrible, I couldn't even sip water during the night, felt like a huge warm something stuck in my throat. Has anyone else had heartburn yet? I feel like this is early for it to start, I only had it occasionally and very late on last time. Every pregnancy is indeed different eh.

Hope you're all doing ok. Thanks for the comments on my work dilemma the other day, I had typed out a huge response and Mumsnet crashed and it was the straw that broke the camels back, I could face typing it again. I'll speak to my boss Thursday as I had my "12 week" scan on weds. I'll only be 10w3d then, but my lmp I'll be 12.5 weeks. So I'm hoping they'll scan again as 10 weeks feels awful early to have it. Tried to say to my midwife but she said NHS go by last period date then rescan if needed. I felt like I was wasting resources as I've had two private scans confining my dates. But that's what she wants to do.

Sorry for huge post, been sleeping by 8pm each night so haven't had a chance to catch up.

Hope everyone else is doing good and sorry to those ladies still feeling rotten x

jellybean13419 · 21/03/2021 07:44

@Drumstick1223 re the heartburn situation. Yes definitely started over here. Started around 10 weeks I'd say. From about midday alllll afternoon and evening and night. I changed how I was eating which seemed to have helped but do still get it in the evenings most nights. Maybe we are destined to have hairy babies?!
I did read the '12 week scan' can be from 10-14 weeks! So would make sense for them to carry on and rescan if they need too. Could see it as a little bonus of getting to check up on baby again 😍
Xx

HappyVibesxo · 21/03/2021 07:46

@Drumstick1223 Aww, good luck for Wednesday. They'll probably ask you back the following week for a rescan. I have the opposite, I'm 12 weeks now and have to wait another 10 days for ours. That will actually work out quite well for you though as you get to see LO twice! I'm not sure if it's the same across the UK but DH is only allowed to the 12 week scan here, not the 20 week xx

Drumstick1223 · 21/03/2021 07:47

@jellybean13419 I'm 10 weeks on the nose today, I can't cope with a heartburn pregnancy 🙈🤣 my first pregnancy was so easy compared to this. Maybe the baby will be easier this time round haha

Sorry to hear you're suffering too. What kind of changes did you make to your diet? If you don't mind me asking.
I had pizza last night and chicken bites, not healthy at all really so I suspect that is to blame.

Ah well maybe that will be ok for scan then, though secretly hoping they want to do it again as will feel odd telling people at 12 weeks without having had a scan then to double check.

Drumstick1223 · 21/03/2021 08:00

@HappyVibesxo oh no that's a shame you need to wait another ten days. Hoping for a wee rescan too but know it might not happen. At the moment they are saying here that partners can attend both scans. Hopefully y the time your 20 weeks come round the COVID numbers are further down and they ease up and allow partners in for all scans. 🤞🏻

I've also been feeling lots of wee twinges low down on my right hand side, think it's growing twinges. And also feel heavy in my pelvis now if that even sounds right? Lol. My partner says oh it's too early for that surely 🙄

jellybean13419 · 21/03/2021 08:01

@Drumstick1223 splitting meals up. So rather than having a bowl of porridge and waiting 5 hours till lunch line I use too.. I have two small breakfasts. Same with lunch, split it over the afternoon. Dinner i have a smaller portion and then make sure to have some nuts or a slice of toast before bed. I find that if I don't get super full, I don't get such bad acid heartburn and reflux. Also, the fattier the food the worst it is for me. Did you suffer before getting pregnant? Apparently if you had it before then you're more likely to have it worse during too. Joys 😂

Drumstick1223 · 21/03/2021 08:05

@jellybean13419 thanks that's a good idea splitting the meals up and I think I'd feel less sick too. I didn't suffer with heartburn pre pregnancy, just one of those things I guess. Now avoiding fatty foods for a while and see if that helps. Thanks x

Jl2020 · 21/03/2021 08:22

Aww that's amazing news @jades132 congratulations!

@Drumstick1223 iv had heartburn since about 4 weeks!! Was one of the very first symptoms I had, not so much a burning sensation but mine is more of a heavy feeling in my chest and a constant lump in my throat and need to swallow, doctor said it's more like acid reflux but it is so uncomfortable and definitely gets worse after eating a big meal.
I have found the chewable gaviscon tablets help it sometimes and not laying down completely flat when going to bed.

Drumstick1223 · 21/03/2021 08:24

@Jl2020 oh I really feel for you! It was exactly when I lay down in bed last night that it started. It's the lump in my throat that I have. Stayed with me all night. Will try some chewable gaviscon nasty I find the liquid hard to take. Thank you and hope you get some respite soon!

Jl2020 · 21/03/2021 08:53

I had it before I even had a missed period I went to the doctors and they prescribed me some ormeprazole but I read a lot of reviews and decided against taking them and just stuck to gaviscon. The tablets are disgusting and a horrible texture but definitely ease the lump in the throat for while.
Thankyou and I hope it eases for you soon too!

rtz22 · 21/03/2021 11:09

Lovely to hear all of all these happy scans 😊 @jades132 @mooloop. I'm sure both still elated and overflowing with love and happiness.

And such a lovely story @Ola85 telling the family as well, so sweet. I hope people are doing well, every day seems to be different!
Had a family video call yesterday and was so tempted to tell them, I feel very strange not sharing this news but also strange about sharing it too. 🤔

poodlepip · 21/03/2021 14:51

Hey all. Sorry to hear about sicky and reflux. I have been taking omeprazole as I have aspirin and it has definitely helped.

Couldn't wait another 3 weeks for my scan so used a voucher as the place nearby and got a sneak peek. Happy bean good heartbeat. Here is my favourite pic hehe

@Jl2020 @rtz22 thank you 😊
@poodlepip amazing scan photo! X

jellybean13419 · 21/03/2021 20:24

@poodlepip oh my goodness. This is epic! Those little legs 🥰 congratulations 💖 xx

rtz22 · 21/03/2021 20:32

Oh thanks @poodlepip I am eyeing those m and s joggers! Love sweaty Betty but only just invested in leggings at Xmas(which now feel so tight 😬). That scan of the little leggies is just amazing, how sweet!

pixiedust21 · 21/03/2021 20:40

@poodlepip loving the scan picture!!

I am wondering when:/if I will ever be able to eat normally again. Husband and I are basically having to have separate meals, all I can eat are carbs!!! Carbs on top of carbs (and apples are okay).

Really feel I should be eating better but so much makes me feel horrible!

Almost 11 weeks so hoping things will turn around soon. X

Ola85 · 21/03/2021 21:20

@poodlepip this is just brilliant 😀😀 gorgeous baby legs 😍😍😍

Do you ladies know how to cope with extreme bloating? The last couple of nights I suffer with heavy painful bloated stomach. Even walking around the house is painful 😖 I tried rennie deflatine but can't see any difference 😵

notagrownup · 22/03/2021 07:15

Hi, very late to join the party 🙈 I'm due at the start of Oct and have my scan tomorrow... I'm terrified and so, I found you. Lots of other people in the same position! This will hopefully be my second baby. My DS is 2 and I'm just as anxious as I was before 😂 hope you guys are okay, especially those who have been through miscarriage 💔

notagrownup · 22/03/2021 07:20

@Ola85 I've stopped eating white processed bread (which I love 😂) and started eating wholemeal and fruit, and anything I eat has to be little and often. Bloating is just so uncomfortable and coupled with sickness it's horrible but this did help, hope it stops soon!
