So this may be a little early to even start a thread. I got a positive digital test at 3 weeks 5 days. Today I am 4 weeks. From the date of my last period (11th January), my due date would be 18th October 2021 I know it's very early days and anything (literally) can happen but I was hoping to find like minded people!

When do people generally contact their GP?

@pixiedust21 exactly the same over here. Insomnia is kicking my butt big time. Little things that use to be super easy, feel like the biggest mountain now! I'm guessing the fatigue is something that improves after the first 3 months? (I hope 😂)

jellybean13419 · 17/03/2021 08:56

Also, have my 12 week scan tomorrow. Eeeek. Hope the little bean is ok 🤞🏻

Drumstick1223 · 17/03/2021 08:59

@jellybean13419 @Cpr12 thanks ladies. Think things just got a bit on top of me. I forget how exhausting this part is. Roll on the second trimester for some more energy.
I haven't told my boss yet, I only started with them at the start of Feb so I'm worried how they'll take it. He's been happy with my work, singing my praises, so he'd have it tough to pay me off now, although I know it's not impossible for that to happen. I don't know what the best thing to do is. I was going to wait till next week after my scan to speak to him. But I might just bite the bullet. Also talking about returning to office working is making me nervous about COVID but also the extra travel time. I'm just a bit of a mess this morning.

Cpr12 · 17/03/2021 09:39

@drumstick1223 that is an extra worry. But they cant pay you off. That would be very illegal! And I totally hear you on covid in work. I am office manager so am in weekly just for a couple of hours. Which is fine but from this week we are letting more people in and I dont want to be around them just in case. It just adds a whole other layer of worry. I am thinking I need to speak to my boss about it today as I just dont want to go in. I really do hope you manage to have the conversation and get the weight of the worry off soon.

@jellybean13419 that is very exciting!! Let us know how you get on 😍 I still have 3 weeks to wait l, ugh!!

Drumstick1223 · 17/03/2021 09:43

@Cpr12 thanks sometimes just need to vent and hear it from someone else. The Scottish guidance is sketchy for pregnancy, it links you to Uk guidance, which then says go to Scottish/Welsh guidance... but I went to RCOG and they are saying pregnant women are classed as mildly vulnerable and if you can work from home then you should. That advice may change as things start opening up but that's what they're saying just now. I need to speak to my boss don't I. 😩

Cpr12 · 17/03/2021 10:06

@drumstick1223 I am scotland too :). If you want a bit of reassurance, speak to ACAS they will keep you right.

The whole covid thing is just a minefield. Hopefully you have an understanding boss though :)

Drumstick1223 · 17/03/2021 10:34

@Cpr12 thank you! I think I will speak to ACAS for advice.

I'm sure he will be actually, he's been so relaxed and fine with flexing my work a bit just now, it's just that he's searched for ages to fill this role and I'm going to be off for 9-12 months so I think it's my guilt rather than him being a good guy if that makes sense.

sierraleona123 · 17/03/2021 14:11

Sorry you're having these worries @Drumstick1223. If I were you I would speak to him sooner rather than later for no other reason than to take the weight off your mind, until then you'll replay possible outcomes over in your head and drive yourself mad! It sounds like he's chuffed to have found you to fill the role, and therefore I'm sure he will be happy to wait for you to return. Also as said already, they can't just pay you off. Hoping it goes OK for you Smile

Sorry to hear of those of you crippled with sickness! I am 8w 1d and slightly concerned that I have no sickness whatsoever... although I am sure I will regret saying that.
I am very tired most of the time which is unlike me, but apart from that I really don't seem to have any symptoms.
Had my booking appointment with midwife today which was good, and have a private scan booked for Monday so really looking forward to that.
Also - I feel HUGE. Like I feel like I am putting on so much weight and I think the scales this morning actually proved it too.
I need to sort my diet out this week before I get even bigger and curse myself for not sorting it out sooner. So that's this weeks focus!!!

poodlepip · 17/03/2021 16:34

@Drumstick1223 yes absolutely you tell them when it's right time for you don't factor in your employer. You will have plenty of time left to work for them before the baby comes and then then most employers can get reimbursments for maternity pay. Covid is a good reason to tell them early if you want to as well as they have to do a risk assessment. They also have to give you your maternity appts leave as paid.

I was so exhausted I needed to WFH the odd day in the last weeks so was glad had told my manager

@sierraleona123 totally agree I having a carb fest! Hopefully will be easier when the constant snacking gets better.

Who has their 12 week scan first? I wish mine was sooner still a couple of weeks 😬

jellybean13419 · 17/03/2021 17:54

@poodlepip mine is tomorrow morning, will be 11+6. OH is super excited and I'm just a bundle of nerves!

Mumnttc · 17/03/2021 17:59

@poodlepip my midwife said they are behind, so will likely be more 13/14 weeks, so first couple of weeks in April 😩 had my booking bloods Monday and first call from midwife scheduled for next week, when I'll be 11+5.

Jl2020 · 17/03/2021 18:20

Good luck for tomorrow @jellybean13419 hope all goes well 💕

I'm only 8 weeks so won't be getting a 12 week scan for a while yet, still trying to hold off getting a private scan for now also still waiting to even hear from my midwife regarding a booking in appointment but I guess they have to get around everyone further along than me first so just being patient lol.
Hope everyone is feeling ok today x

mooloop · 17/03/2021 18:26

My 12 week scan isn't until 12th April, I'm about 8 weeks now too @Jl2020 Smile what's your due date?

Still slogging away with the relentless nausea here 🤢 so tired too and over the past couple of days my boobs and nips are so sore!! Hope everybody is feeling better than me 😂

Jl2020 · 17/03/2021 18:32

@mooloop my due date by lmp is 27th October,
What date is yours? ☺️

I really hope the nausea eases soon for you! I had a little bit of nausea yesterday but it didn't last long, I just feel constantly SO hungry and if I don't eat regularly then I start to feel a bit more sick than I normally would. I do have slightly sore boobs but again it's really not that bad and I don't really feel that tired either, I feel blessed but stressed about the lack of symptoms lol. One thing I cannot stand at the moment is I constantly have a horrible taste in my mouth and cannot get rid of it! X

mooloop · 17/03/2021 18:36

@Jl2020 my notes from the MW say 25/10/2021 based on LMP but I ovulated quite late so I think I'll be a bit later in the month once I've had my scan! Oh I've seen some people saying about the weird taste thing, I've not had that but it must be horrible!

If everything is ok at our scan on Saturday (🤞🏻🍀) we're going to tell our parents this weekend. I'm getting to the point where I need some support with the nausea, just things like helping with walking our dog etc. Sad I can't wait to tell them!!

Jl2020 · 17/03/2021 18:41

@mooloop I think I may have ovulated late too as it took a week for me to get a positive test after my missed period, I don't know if that means I ovulated late or not but I'm guessing it means I could have but it's not something I really track other than using an app.

I hope everything goes well on Saturday, will keep my fingers crossed for you ☺️ atleast when your parents know you will be able to ask for some support and help with things like walking the dog whilst you deal with the sickness! My mum and my partner are the only two people that know about my pregnancy so far and I'm holding off telling anyone else until I have a 12 week scan probably. Iv put on so much weight these last few weeks though I'm sure people can notice iv gained about 12 extra chins 😂 x

mooloop · 17/03/2021 19:00

@Jl2020 hahaha I'm the same, wearing dresses every day for work now since I can't fit in my trousers already 😂

Jl2020 · 17/03/2021 19:11

@mooloop dresses are definitely a good option as it's only going to get worse for us 😂 I'm working from home atm so it's loungewear every day for me, last weekend I put a pair of jeans on and probably lasted about 30 mins before I had to take them off because they were cutting off my circulation! I think I need to start doing a daily workout whilst I'm eating more

MF1981 · 17/03/2021 19:46

Anyone else had a weird dizzy funny turn? I had one today and oh my God it was awful. Didn’t know if I was going to be sick or pass out. I was just sat in front of the laptop and suddenly everything started spinning. Called the midwife who advised to lie down and if it didn’t pass to go to the drop in centre to get my blood pressure checked. Slept for a lot of the afternoon but still feel sooo tired now. It was quite scary as I’ve never had anything like that happen to me before.

Cpr12 · 17/03/2021 19:59

@jl2020 @mooloop with you both on the weight gain already. Last time at 19 weeks you couldnt even tell I was pregnant. I was bigger at 4 weeks this time round haha! Thankfully I am working from home too so firmly in pyjamas all day every day haha!

@mf1981 I had slight dizziness last time round, I always seemed to get it when I was too hot, but nothing so far this time. Maybe just take it easy for a few days. Hopefully it doesnt happen again. Are you feeling alright now, other than tired?

pixiedust21 · 17/03/2021 20:09

Slightly concerned that when I go for my 12 week scan in a couple of weeks that the baby will literally be a potato.

I cannot stop eating carbs.

They're all I want.

My husband told me to stop eating so much toast and I actually cried GrinGrin

So much for trying to eat healthy when pregnant, i actually lost weight the first few weeks because I was eating so well but now.....

Cpr12 · 17/03/2021 20:14

@pixiedust21 the first trimester seems to always be a carb fest. We can worry about giving our babies actual nutrition later. But I do wonder, if we all crave the same thing, maybe what baby needs at this stage is actually carbs! And tell your hubby to butt out, baby wants toast 😂😂😂

pixiedust21 · 17/03/2021 20:22

@Cpr12 yes that is a good point if we are all craving them!

Haha the toast comment came on quite a tense and hormonal day Grin my husband is very solutions focused when it comes to problems, which is great but..... sometimes not Grin

He also advised I go for a run to help the bloated tummy feeling, and to stop having naps so i would sleep better at night.

Naps and toast.... my two true loves 😂 I advised him I would be listening to my body and when he's pregnant I will respect him to make his own decisions.

Ah... glad that day ended Grin

DJmum83 · 17/03/2021 20:36

Hi everyone

Went for a private scan on Sunday and was measuring 7+5 so spot on for ovulation day.
All good and seen heartbeat and it was lovely To tell the kids and family. I got signed off work with hyperemis but the doctor gave me pills so I'm feeling a bit better thankfully.

Where's everyone from I'm from Scotland and this is baby number 4.

I am craving salt and vinegar crisps big time. Xx

@pixiedust21 haha! Husbands! Mine takes pleasure in talking about whatever food it is that day which makes me want to be sick.
