So torn about putting this under pregnancy or parenting 🥴 I think we’re halfway there on deliveries - just a last push needed!

My baby has teeth! He's 7 weeks on Tuesday 🙈

footprintsintheslow · 14/02/2021 14:43

@WhoUsedMyName oh my god can't believe about the teeth? Are they bottom jaw, centre?

WhoUsedMyName · 14/02/2021 19:06

No @footprintsintheslow I'm gob smacked his fangs lol also he was always confused about days and nights maybe he's a real vampire lol

footprintsintheslow · 15/02/2021 07:58

@WhoUsedMyName hahaha that explains everything now then. Does you hv know he has teeth?

WhoUsedMyName · 15/02/2021 09:51

No she doesn't but I have only just found out myself I will tell them at 6 week check. I've been looking online and baby's can be born with teeth 😬ouch! And it's not unheard of to get them at 7weeks very odd x

SunSparkle · 15/02/2021 12:10

We’re on day 3 of breastfeeding. She does good latching, about 20 mins each boob and I feed her every 3 hours. She’s having tons of pooey nappies and these have changed from meconium to green/brown poops. She isn’t having lots of wet nappies (or I can’t tell they are wet from the indicator or because they are pooey).

She’s done a few big vomits of mucus which the midwife said was normal but I’m wondering if she might be a bit dehydrated. Her fontanelle looks fine but the lack of wee is bothering me.

My milk hasn’t come in (and may take a day or two more as I lost over a litre of blood). She gets weighed tomorrow.

Any advice?

SnookyPook · 15/02/2021 15:46

@SunSparkle Sebastian was like this at first. In our case a tongue tie was affecting his feeding as well as my milk coming in and I think they thought that contributed. We started having to top-up feeds with some formula due to weight loss and he’s been fine since. Like you he was pooing ok and fontanelle etc was fine. I actually think they’re a bit quick to prescribe top-up feeds as some initial weight loss is expected anyway but guess they don’t want to take the chance which is fair enough. My milk has come in a lot more now (2wks2days) but we’re still doing some top-ups until I can express more breast milk - at the moment he’s having most of it on the breast I think!

SunSparkle · 16/02/2021 02:52

Thanks for sharing @SnookyPook. I had a very bloody labour and her vomits have had some blood in them which the midwife said was fine but she’s has another one tonight and it kinda feels like it shouldn’t still be happening. I’ve got the midwife this afternoon so going to ask her to check as I’ve taken some photos. Gosh parenthood makes you anxious doesn’t it!

footprintsintheslow · 16/02/2021 06:45

@SunSparkle glad you are seeing the midwife today to ask questions. Let us know what she says and we'll done with the feeding. A great latch is key so it sounds like you've cracked it.

SunSparkle · 16/02/2021 23:01

@footprintsintheslow we have ended up admitted at the children’s hospital. They think the vomiting might still be because of labour blood so that’s reassuring it’s not a medical condition but she’s lost too much weight so we’re in overnight starting a feeding plan with formula and observing her. Hopefully discharged tomorrow morning with a plan of how much formula and when while we wait for my milk to properly come in.

WhoUsedMyName · 17/02/2021 10:04

@SunSparkle you really are having a a rubbish time aren't you. Glad it's only bcoz of your birth with the sickness tho. My ds dropped a lot of weight after birth and i think we were 1oz off being admitted but I've been combi feeding ever since and he's getting nice an chunky now :) sending virtual hugs

WhoUsedMyName · 17/02/2021 10:05

@footprintsintheslow I'm at 6 week check for us both she called l at 8.30 and asked loads of questions about us both and contraception etc then we've come here for 10 and she said wait for immunisation letter x

SunSparkle · 19/02/2021 18:43

Did anyone else get really emotional when they were 7 days post-birth? I was in hospital this time last week and it just seems so overwhelming that she's been here a week. I wonder if I've cuddled her enough and took enough pictures. It just seems like she's changing already. My hormones are all over the place

footprintsintheslow · 19/02/2021 20:04

@SunSparkle I did with my last child as I couldn't say her age in days anymore as she was a whole week. Then I rowed with my H. Total emotional wreck. It gets better though. X

How did it go?

SnookyPook · 20/02/2021 05:40

Hi All... sorry been awol for a few days! How’s everyone doing?

@SunSparkle are you back home now? How’s little one doing? Also, re hormones and being emotional - yep keeps hitting at random points! Just a thought though as it sounds like you also had quite a traumatic birth experience - have they offered you any kind of opportunity to discuss it/go over it to help process etc?

Sebastian is 3wks today! Where are the days going?! Seems each time I blink another week has passed in a blur of no sleep 🤪 Xx

WhoUsedMyName · 20/02/2021 09:12

@footprintsintheslow yes was all fine thanks she checked his hips, done his weight and height and looked in his mouth. That was literally it

WhoUsedMyName · 20/02/2021 09:12

@SnookyPook my Ds is 8 weeks on Tuesday! It's so crazy

xsxsxsxs · 21/02/2021 06:39

Sorry, been awol for a bit .. I never realised how much of a thing mum brain actually is.

How are you all?
It’s lovely to see everyone slowly overcoming hurdles with their little ones. We’ve been referred to two hospitals for TT and are just waiting to see which one sends an appointment date first. LO has started latching on a few times a day with little amounts of tears, but only on my right breast, she just can’t get her mouth around my left and gets really upset.

@SunSparkle I did! I got incredibly upset that I didn’t capture close ups of her hands, lips, etc on day1, and didn’t do the little photo shoots I had wanted to - was really quite hard on myself about not capturing enough memories, had to be reminded that I was recovering from a major op .... and so mum guilt begins ....

footprintsintheslow · 21/02/2021 07:56

I'd love to do little cute Pinterest style photo shoots but when I try they look dreadful so I give up.
I know it doesn't matter though. When I loom back at the photos of my older one I love the ones I have even though they are wonky or blurred.

pigletpie2177 · 21/02/2021 15:51

Hi all sorry just catching up. Hope you're ok! LO is 3 weeks old today and cluster feeding like a good 'un. I remember feeling quite stressed about that last time so glad I remembered. Feeding is now much easier albeit he can be quite lazy with his latch. Bought some Elvie pumps which have been great so far, and have meant I get some occasional respite!

Healing from c section has felt much slower this time and I haven't been able to go to toilet much 🙈 tmi sorry! Whilst I'm on a roll though, has anyone else found their bleeding has been very on/off? My body can't decide if I'm finished seemingly, having done a week on then a week off and then stopping and starting a couple of time since!

SnookyPook · 27/02/2021 22:32

All gone very quiet here - everyone ok? My little man is a month old today! Can’t believe it!

@pigletpie2177 my bleeding has been constant but has worn off a bit this week. Not personally had stopping and starting but I imagine it’s one of those things that varies a lot!

WhoUsedMyName · 27/02/2021 23:04

I'm alive @SnookyPook tiered but alive! How are you? My boy is 2 months

SnookyPook · 28/02/2021 13:06

@WhoUsedMyName haha tired but alive sums my status up pretty well too 👍🏼 love my little boy so much but a good nights sleep would be amazing... x

WhoUsedMyName · 28/02/2021 15:27

Time is flying isn't it crazy. I've completely given up the boob for 3 days now and he takes 6oz every 4hourish x
