So torn about putting this under pregnancy or parenting 🥴 I think we’re halfway there on deliveries - just a last push needed!

Hi everyone! I've not been on here for a while as I've been in the Facebook group, but that seems to have magically disappeared. Is anyone else on there and knows what happened? My little girl will be two months on 4th. It's going so quick already!

WhoUsedMyName · 01/03/2021 11:54

My fat little super hero 🦸🏻‍♂️ 😂 I don't have Facebook so have never been on it. I hope everyone else is ok x

@catlady15 no idea about the fb group sorry as not in it. Two months has gone quick though hasn't it!
7 weeks here today abs we seem to be in a 48 hour cycle or lots of sleep day abs night and then awake all day on the whole.

@WhoUsedMyName gorgeous photo, how old is he now?

Bubbabee · 01/03/2021 18:35

Hey hope all mummies and babies are well. My baby girl Nancy Wroe had her first jabs Friday and hasn't been 100%. Anybody else having any side effects? Xx

WhoUsedMyName · 01/03/2021 19:57

@footprintsintheslow he's 9 weeks Tomoz x

SnookyPook · 03/03/2021 10:05

Sebastian is a month old and 2 nights ago I finally decided to brave cosleeping and give it a go as the way things were was not sustainable (literally awake all night as the only way he would sleep was in my arms!) - it’s been a game changer! Last night I got 6hrs sleep and would probably have got more if I had been on the ball enough to get us to bed earlier. Been so used to staying up that I didn’t get upstairs until gone midnight. But now I know he settles well with the cosleeping I have fingers crossed for more sleep in the days ahead.

Before having him I was so keen on getting him settled in his next to me etc and making it work! Guess reality alphas kicked in! Anyone else doing things post baby arriving that they were sure they wouldn’t do? Or anyone want to share and good Mum hacks they’ve found? Xx

WhoUsedMyName · 03/03/2021 10:52

@SnookyPook big cot! Game changer with a sleeping bag I think he touched the sides in his crib and it woke him and the mattress In the cot is softer x

WhoUsedMyName · 03/03/2021 11:00

Sleep deprivation is the worst I moan at the sleep I'm getting and it's not that bad. Sending virtual hugs and coffee!! Xx

pigletpie2177 · 03/03/2021 11:02

Ahh @WhoUsedMyName he is gorgeous!

@SnookyPook I am co-sleeping too. He will sometimes go in the Moses basket for a few hours but I think the rocking wakes him up maybe - plus he's much happier with me. Google the four trimester if you haven't read about that already - makes total sense really. Have you been lateral feeding?

WhoUsedMyName · 03/03/2021 11:08

Thanks @pigletpie2177 how are you? @SnookyPook or just generally sleeping in my dressing gown works 😂 this is us currently I'm not dressed disgusting isn't it!

pigletpie2177 · 03/03/2021 18:00

Just seen my typo - should have said "fourth trimester" obvs.

We do inside the dressing gown pretty often too @WhoUsedMyName, and I have a couple of those skin to skin tops (and stretchy wraps) to throw him in when he's getting fractious ☺️ knocks him out and gives my poor boobs some peace 🙈

WhoUsedMyName · 05/03/2021 09:44

Aww so dinky looks so settled xx

SnookyPook · 06/03/2021 09:57

@pigletpie2177 yes I have read about the 4th trimester and it made perfect sense to me too! Found it very interesting and reassuring.

Haha @WhoUsedMyName - not disgusting at all! Another one currently lying on sofa with Babba wrapped in my dressing gown 😂 It’s obviously the way forward!

Bunnycrazy · 10/03/2021 22:42

That is how I find myself most of the time. Little one and me on the sofa wrapped up on dressing gown. Cant believe my baby girl is over 6 weeks old. Time is just flying by. Everyday she is changing.

WhoUsedMyName · 11/03/2021 11:57

We've had our second ambulance trip to hospital and two night stay 🤦🏼‍♀️ covid test, blood tests, septic screening & camera down his throat & up his nose. He has laryangomalcia but still some things unanswered. He's now under the ent and consultant with regular appointments. It's nothing life threatening so hopefully things are up from here.
How are you all? Xx

Bunnycrazy · 11/03/2021 20:30

Aww hun hope he makes a speedy recovery. Good news you are under a consultant.

xsxsxsxs · 13/03/2021 18:43

My LO had her tongue tie released on Monday, and we are now happily breastfeeding exclusively. She was managing almost 80% breast by the week coming up to the snip (which I am very proud of myself for persevering with - blowing my own trumpet). They told me her tongue tie was actually really severe so that fact that she had learnt to feed from the breast was surprising for them.

@SnookyPook I’ve also started co-sleeping, and happy to take the negative judgements about it - I get some sleep, so as far as I’m concerned, I’m winning.

@WhoUsedMyName I hope bubba is feeling better, do update on his health when you can.

SnookyPook · 16/03/2021 00:05

Hi All! Been a while! How are you all?

@xsxsxsxs that’s wonderful that feeding is going so well! My little one’s tongue tie unfortunately wasn’t fully divided at the initial appointment at our local hospital so we’ve now been referred to the children’s hospital for a reassessment and hopefully complete division this time. I’m so hoping for an immediate change in feeding here too! We’re still persevering with breastfeeding but are having to top-up so he gets enough. Fingers crossed...

xsxsxsxs · 16/03/2021 00:14

Ah, how frustrating. Hopefully they manage to divide fully this time round and you are able to breastfeed with ease.
Did your LO struggle generally for the days following the snip? Mine cried most of the day and hardly slept at all! So glad that has passed now, was very stressful

SnookyPook · 16/03/2021 23:27

@xsxsxsxs thank you. He didn’t seem overly affected by it tbh but maybe that’s because it wasn’t done properly!

footprintsintheslow · 17/03/2021 18:40

Well down both for persevering with breastfeeding! ⭐️

pigletpie2177 · 17/03/2021 22:48

Oh @WhoUsedMyName how scary! Hope everything is ok!

All good with us - baby is pretty cranky but he's just entered his second leap so that's seemingly to be expected. He's feeding all the time too so any opportunity I get I pump a bit of milk so I can have a bath at night and give my poor boobs a break!

The pre-schooler announced he didn't want his little brother the other day - I think that's been brewing for a while although he's never said it before. Any advice on handling jealous siblings welcome - he is a mummy's boy and I'm trying to make sure we spend as much time just the two of us as possible but it's hard when the baby wails with my husband 😩

footprintsintheslow · 18/03/2021 18:45

@pigletpie2177 things that I'm trying to stop the jealousy:
👣Say things like 'sorry baby you'll have to wait as I need to be with xxxx now'
👣say things like 'sorry baby you can't have any ice cream that's just for my big girl'.
👣lots of stories/craft books for breast feeding times.
👣I've started to jump into bed for a quick snuggle early in the mornings...no baby allowed.
👣similarly I jumped in the bath the other day and toddler loved it.
👣 a few really focused play episodes in the day. They only last five minutes but it works well to make them feel loved.
👣 our toddler gets jealous of a new baby gadget appears like the cot mobile or bouncy chair. I really go on a lot how it's just an old toy that used to be theirs. Then I distract them with stories of when they were a baby. Seems to go down well.

If you or anyone thinks of anything else please share.

pigletpie2177 · 18/03/2021 20:14

Thanks @footprintsintheslow that's great. I try to do bath time with him unless the baby is being very clingy in which case DH does it - quite often I will get in with him which he loves. They are always very interactive and fun and no baby allowed.
Whilst we all do bedtime story together, I have always sung to him afterwards and wherever possible that's just me and him. I tend to get in for a snuggle with him then.
I have occasionally said "no baby you'll have to wait..." etc but will do a bit more of that. Good idea with the ice cream example too, though we did have some upset here the other day as he wanted to share his blueberries with his little brother and I wouldn't let him 🙈

footprintsintheslow · 19/03/2021 22:01

@pigletpie2177 do you find that sometimes the toddler wants to be the big grown up one and then other times the want to be the little baby again?
