Afternoon all! How do? Am having the least productive working day today, just cannot get in to it!
@Poppy10121 There are some lovely wall stickers on Etsy that might be worth checking out.
@PugPrincess Your DH has done a great job of the nursery so far! Must be so exciting to see it come together.
@DanceM1 So glad to hear you’re enjoying your NCT, I’m so excited to start ours on Thursday. I feel like I’m really prepared for baby in terms of having the stuff we need but I need to learn a lot around breastfeeding, sleeping etc etc so am really eager for that, it’s like the (ginormous) missing piece of the puzzle.
In terms of birth, I think I want to go to the midwife led unit that is attached to the hospital. There is one about 15mins away from the hospital that’s meant to be amazing, but it scares me not being right there in case of anything going wrong. I’m not too bothered about a water birth strangely but do like the idea of dim lights and having our own playlist (that DH is carefully curating). I’m quite open to whatever needs to happen really – I’m very pragmatic by nature so am of the ‘just do what you need to do to make sure baby is ok’ thinking…but I am part way through my Positive Birth Company course so it could change (the dim lights is already a new one that the course made me think I might like)!
@workingmama1 I was going to suggest Facebook, too – the ladies from the October MN group I was a member of for the last pregnancy moved across to a private group when their babies arrived and kindly invited me over and they all keep in touch on it so much. It looks invaluable for them sharing advice and just generally chit chatting. Obviously not much use for me right now but it’s nice to see how they’re doing and I too would love to keep in touch with you all to see how everyone gets on.
Your bump looks lovely!
@rosieJess91 Oh you poor thing, I’m glad you’re feeling a bit better today though.
Coming home outfit is a tough one, isn’t it, just no idea what the weather could be like! Do you mean for baby? I’ve packed vests, sleepsuits and cardis but have also packed one slightly fleecy sleepsuit (it’s not a chunky snowsuit type thing as know they can’t go in car seats in them, just thin and fleecy), along with a chunky knitted blanket that is fleecy on one side that I’ll put with the car seat and DH can just bring it in if it’s needed. Also packed cotton hats and a knitted hat just in case, I think that should hopefully be ok – it’s not far from the hospital door to the car and I can get DH to warm the car up before we head out if needs be. If it’s super cold or snowing nearer the time, I’ll take another look. For me it’ll be leggings/tracksuit bottoms, a vest/long sleeve tee, a jumper and maybe a coat. Comfort all the way!
With the sleeping bag talk, I’ve bought two from Mamas & Papas that say they’re suitable from 0-6 months, I think I’ll just try them on her and see if her head can get through the hole, if it can then we’ll just use blankets until they fit but blankets scare the life out of me! Does mean I need to buy a cot sized cellular blanket though, which I’d forgotten about - I only have a pram one at the mo. I foresee a lot of not sleeping due to stressing about whether she’s ok 🙈
Since baby has moved in to her downwards position, I’m feeling her so much more – I’m keeping note of how often I’ve felt her today and it’s at least a short session of movements every hour/hour and a half or so (compared to maybe three times a day not long ago), it’s so, so nice! The movements are quite light but they’re definitely there. I feel so much happier about everything than I did this time last week. I just hope she keeps this little routine up now!
