Hello! Im so sorry, I cant remember who has said what at all!

@bubblybon20 sorry you have that stress. Im sure baby is fine but a growth scan will be much more accurate than the midwife's measurements so its good really to have it.

It seems a few of us have had a few worries re. Growth scans lately haven't we. Roll on our babies' arrivals!! 🙏🤞

Whoever was talking about where baby will sleep, I think our baba will sleep in the pram when downstairs (will obviously double check its safe) because we don't really have room to store the pram and a moses basket. Upstairs we have a snuzpod for the first 6months in our room and a cot bed in the nursery for after that.

Congrats on the successful scans! Must be a relief for you all!

We are going to get started on the nursery this weekend. We need to put wallpaper up and have no idea how 🤣😬

Starfish762 · 14/01/2021 18:34

@bubblybon20 oh gosh what a worry for you. I’m sure all will be just fine spesh with no concerns up till now & 2 previous good sized babies. Totally understand your panic though!

In case anyone’s interested, just saw this on instagram - sounds great! She has a successful hypnobirthing business in London (can’t recall if it’s the same person some of you mentioned).

@bubblybon20 sorry you've had the stress of smaller bump measurements too. If your midwife was really concerned she was would pushed for an earlier scan or suggested monitoring in-between. I was measuring well below the 3rd centile which is why they were quite worried, baby is small (10th centile) but not concerningly so as long as measurements continue to go up.

@jojo58995 glad you've come to a decision about work. It sounds like it is the right one for you.

My stomach is still really sore from pulling muscles yesterday. I actually rang the Tommy's Pregnancy Helpline to get a professional opinion but felt a bit silly ringing triage. I'd highly recommend them if you ever just want to talk to a midwife but dont want to ring triage.

JoJo58995 · 14/01/2021 21:41

@Starfish762 that is the woman who wrote my hypnobirthing book. I like her style, and her voice is very calming on her MP3s 😊 I might have a read of that one!

JoJo58995 · 14/01/2021 21:43

@Workingmama1 sorry your stomach is still sore....did they have any advice for you? That's a good recommendation about Tommy's, I hadn't thought of that. Hope you start to feel more comfortable soon xx

JoJo58995 · 14/01/2021 21:48

On a completely separate note....a while ago someone recommended cheeky wipes and I cant remember who it was sorry....I'm looking at getting some and just wondered do you have cotton or bamboo? And how many do you reckon you need?

Pugprincess · 14/01/2021 22:03

Hi everyone. Just wanted to let you know I'd been in hospital today as I was worried about reduced movements today, everything is OK thank goodness. Xx

Smilingdonkey · 14/01/2021 22:46

@jojo58995 I think that was me! I bought the pack with the boxes and everything and that did us to be honest! I can't remember how many were in that set - I think 25 and we possibly had about 5 free ones. I reckon 30 would do! They really are a game changer. Baby wipes are so crap at cleaning poo - these are much more efficient and you can just bung them in the wash and no need to wait for them to dry!
We had basic white bamboo ones 😊

Smilingdonkey · 14/01/2021 23:04

@pugprincess I'm glad everything is ok 😊
@bubblybon and @workingmama1 It must be so stressful being told baby is small but if it helps at all so many people I know have been given wildly inaccurate growth measurements from both scans and bumps - I just don't thinks it's very easy to tell. They told me my DD would be enormous and she was 8lb 10 (so not small but certainly not the giant beast they suggested!) I'm sure all will be well 😊 xxx

I'm trying to remember how I prepared for labour last time! I think at about 38 weeks I suddenly freaked out and realised I had no idea how it worked even though I had done an NCT course and everything! I actually studied using the what to expect when you are expecting book and made proper notes which insisted came to the hospital with me (and which of course I never read again 😂) It did make me feel in control knowing about all the (many - who knew 🤷😩) stages of labour and what my body was doing. Other than that the most useful thing was a short video on YouTube about breathing. NCT did loads of stuff on different techniques but I wanted something simple and this explained how to breath through different parts of a contraction and it was honestly the best advice. Simple and easy to remember and follow. I'll see if I can find it again! I really do think it's all in the breathing ... Famous last words!

Smilingdonkey · 14/01/2021 23:15

This is the link. I just watched it again - I am now convinced this slightly lame video was what got me through DDs birth 😂 I think it was helpful to have a breathing technique which mirrored the contraction so that each one felt like a process and a pattern rather than just neverending pain! The breathing helped me focus on recognising the peak and end of a contraction - which made them easier to cope with as there was always an end in sight!

Hope someone else finds it useful too 🙂 xxx

JoJo58995 · 15/01/2021 07:34

@Smilingdonkey thank you for the cheeky wipes advice and for the video link 👍👍 fab advice!

JoJo58995 · 15/01/2021 07:34

@Pugprincess I'm sorry you had a stressful day, so glad everything is ok. Hope little one is more lively now to reassure you xx

JennyMY · 15/01/2021 08:51

Hi everyone. @Pugprincess I was in hospital for monitoring for reduced movements yesterday too - all was fine but they were so reassuring and said always to call if we are concerned. Bizarrely, the monitor was showing he was moving about when I wasn't feeling a thing! It's such a responsibility being the only one who can make a judgement call about how we think baby is doing while they're still on the 'inside' isn't it? Sending love to everyone. I'm going to have a read through the posts when I finish for the day, and find out how everyone is doing - currently working from home (learning support assistant with Yr 7s) but go on maternity leave in 2 weeks!! ❤️Xxx

Starfish762 · 15/01/2021 08:59

@JoJo58995 sounds like the right decision re work. Not ideal but I’m sure you’ll keep yourself busy & will enjoy to down time, the last stretch is super tiring!

@bubblybon20 hope the time goes quick for you, I’m sure it’ll all be fine with your previous big babbas ❤️

@Threnody not surprised you’re tired trying to homeschool 3 kids, respect to you! WFH with 1 is hard enough, and she’s only 3.5 so just needs play time, but it’s still stressful 😴

@Workingmama1 hope your stomach’s feeling better today? Good tip re the Tommys midwife line thank you.

@Smilingdonkey I do try to do my bit re the environment but never even looking into reusable wipes or nappies with DD. So when you’re out & about you have 2 boxes with clean & dirty in? Or I suppose I could use traditional wipes when out & make more effort while at home. I’ve always wondered about the washing machine & all the poo going in there - does it not block up the pipes & filters?! 😂 I know it’s liquid for the first 6 months anyway so maybe fine before that.

Agree about breathing & mindset being key in labour. I done hypnobirthing with DD & despite even up giving birth on the bed on my back (the worst possible position) & it being 29 hours long with just gas & air, it was fine & very positive - which I put completely down to my mindset (and DH constantly reminding me ‘you CAN do it, you ARE doing it’. Def want to refresh myself again though, determined not to end up on my back again (I was exhausted, 29 hours & the hottest day of the year!)

I woke at 3am for a wee & barely got back to sleep, pure excitement to find out the gender later. How I’ve refrained 2.5 days is a miracle 😂🍰

Starfish762 · 15/01/2021 09:01

@JennyMY @Pugprincess sorry about the stress, always best to be safe than sorry - glad the hospital made you feel that way too. I’ve been wishing for movements for weeks as Im almost 21w & second baby, but I know it brings a new level of stress & worry!

ew1990 · 15/01/2021 09:13

@jennym @pugprincess glad all was OK with the monitoring.

@workingmama hope your stomachs a bit better today.

I'm so glad it's friday, I was sick in the street walking back from nursery today, so embarrassing but it just came with no warning, luckily I don't think anyone was about

Sakura54 · 15/01/2021 16:17

@Smilingdonkey Thanks for the vid. I didn’t even know any techniques as I naively didn’t expect to go into labour, so was literally writhing in pain with contractions coming every minute. It wasn’t until I got to theatre, that a staff member clearly saw the state I was in so held my hands and got me to imitate her breathing.

So apparently a transverse baby is worse than breech as it’s a more dangerous position with more risks if you were to go into labour. I feel baby’s head on my left but still only getting kicked very down below on my right so I think it’s like a diagonal position so half transverse and half breech? I had a feeling this baby was also not going to have space to turn. Guess I’ll never know what it feels like to have a baby turn head down and kicks high up!

Sorry that so many of you are having baby size worries. Not sure what that’s all about as I’m sure the babies are all fine. Even if they are small, it doesn’t necessarily mean anything is wrong.

Shall we all finally compare Grow Charts? My graph shows that they expect my fundal height to be small (I’m 5ft 3, BMI 19). Instead, its corresponding with my gestation ATM, despite a titchy bump, so I’m on the highest centile funnily enough. I have my 34w appt next week so will have another measurement then.

Pregnant After MMC - Thread 5
RosieJess91 · 15/01/2021 17:41

Heya! Feel like I've been away for ages, had a few days just asleep in bed, felt rubbish. But only coughed a few times today, so feeling much better. We finally got round to sorting out the nursery, needs a lick of paint, but because of lockdown, don't know when we're going to get the chance to buy some paint before baby arrives, so we've put the furniture up, knowing we can move it around once we can paint. Bought some cute stickers to put on the wall for if we don't.

So cots up, changing tables ready! And the pushchair/car seat arrived yesterday!

To those worrying about centiles, etc, they're not reliable, so don't worry. They're almost always wrong, some trusts just like to do them for some reason.

Missed my 28 week appointment, thanks Covid, so I'm not seeing my midwife until 19th, which is 1 day from being 30 weeks. Can't believe it's gone so quickly!! She said I'd need growth scans, but I'm already having them, so I think they'll all be tied in together, rather than having extras!

Saw a couple mention gas and air and stuff. When I had my son, I didn't even get a chance to use anything, my waters broke at midnight, contractions started 30 minutes later and then I struggled through at home with contractions all over the place, by the time I got to hospital, I was telling them I needed to push and they were telling me to stop being ridiculous, then they checked and realised I was 10cm dilated already and got me straight in to start pushing. And then he got stuck and then I only got given pain relief because they thought I'd need a c-section, but they used forceps instead.

So I didn't even get a chance to try anything. I find out on 10th Feb how I'm giving birth, if the placenta hadn't moved, it will be c-section, but if the placenta had moved, they want me to go as natural as possible, but be in hospital from the moment anything starts. Going to be interesting!!

DanceM1 · 15/01/2021 18:32

@Smilingdonkey thank you for the link..breathing is something im rubbish at 🤣 I know that sounds ridiculous but in yoga etc it always seems to stress me out because I can't seem to breathe at the right times haha so I will practise!!

@Pugprincess @JennyMY glad all was ok with the reduced movement. When I went in they were saying baby was moving when I couldn't feel anything too.

@ew1990 bless you! I keep feeling really sick atm. Very strange. Luckily I haven't actually been sick.

@RosieJess91 eek.. well done for giving birth without pain relief 😬 My sister was the same... they didn't believe her either that baby was coming and were pretty awful with her. Baby was born really quickly and it was a pretty traumatising experience. I am definitely worried about not being listened to 😬

SkyBlue20 · 15/01/2021 18:36

Evening all, happy Friday!!

@Threnody your dad almost spitting out his mince pie made me laugh 😂 Is it lovely telling everyone?

@Workingmama1 Great tip on Tommy’s, I’d never have thought of that! Sorry you’re still in pain 😔 Is it physio you said you’ll need? When will that start?

@Pugprincess Glad everything is ok. Baby girl had a quiet day yesterday, too, but luckily perked up before bed. I’ve been keeping note in my phone of when I feel her move so I can see if she has a pattern. At the mo, she doesn’t seem to other than she loves 4pm 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

@JennyMY Glad all was ok with you, too. It really is a huge responsibility being in sole charge of monitoring their wellness - it’s one of the reasons I can’t wait for her to be out here in the world, so she’s not just my responsibility anymore and so I can see her to see if she’s ok!

@Starfish762 Have you cut in to that cake yet?! 💕💙

@ew1990 Oh no, sorry to hear that! Is the sickness regular? 😔

@Sakura54 I’ll upload a pic of my chart in a bit - currently have the cat sitting on me and can’t reach it (and I’m too soft to move her) 🙈 So interesting to see others!

@RosieJess91 Glad you’re feeling much better! Exciting about the nursery, too! In fact, I’d love to see pics of how everyone’s nurseries are getting on?

Started our NCT course last night, the first session was ok but it covered everything I’ve just been doing in my hypnobirthing course only in less detail so felt a bit deflated after it. Tomorrow we have the breastfeeding session though, which should be interesting! Then today the pram and car seat and a few extra bits arrived, so spent my lunch break putting that up and going to have a play in a bit. It’s very exciting and beginning to feel quite real now! 32 weeks tomorrow 😬😱

Hope everybody is doing ok and you home schooling mums aren’t too exhausted with it all - you’re superheroes! Any decent weekend plans (as much as you can in lockdown?) We just have NCT both mornings and that’s about it 🤷🏻‍♀️ Might clean the house, excitement 😂

SkyBlue20 · 15/01/2021 19:04

The cat finally moved 😂

@rosiejess - deffo try to get the gas and air this time as it's bloody amazing! I'd love to use it recreationally 😜

@ew1990 my sickness is worse again too 😩 Seems so unfair! Today I farted really loudly at work - I'm in an office on my own now but I'm pretty sure anyone in the corridor would have heard 😩 I have no control anymore!

@starfish have you found out the gender?
Re. Cheeky wipes I have two small wet bags (or sometimes just a tupperware and one bag) and just take some damp ones out and stick them in the dirty bag when done. Using cloth nappies mean you have always got a wet/dry bag on you anyway for dirties so it's easier. I know loads of people that just use them at home - you still save loads of money and wipes from landfill doing that. I think I spent about £40 on the wipes set and they are about to do the 2nd baby and can be sold on afterwards. I'd have spent a bloody fortune on waterwipes but now otherwise! Boots do now do a pack of biodegradable (not flushable sadly) wipes for 75p which is amazing as all the other brands are so pricey but they are still not as effective and the cheeky wipes IMO! Good for out and about though? Poo in the machine just isn't an issue. Newborn poo is just milk and when the poo gets bigger you flush it. I always do a rinse cycle before washing the nappies/wipes too. Personally I think less gross than having pooey nappies and wipes in my bin all wrapped in plastic and stinking 😂 But I live in a flat so can't just stick them straight outside! Don't get me wrong we still used disposables and wipes from time to time and in certain situations (i'm not spending all holiday washing shitty nappies for example!)

@jennymy I'm glad all was well. It's so weird that you can't feel them sometimes isn't it?! They were so nice when I went it with reduced movement with DD.

Hope everyone else is well? Xxx

Starfish762 · 15/01/2021 21:19

Sister sister 💗 DD is over the moon, and we’ve always pictured ourselves with 2 girls - meant to be 🥰

So does anyone want my boys name which will now never get used 😂 It’s Felix! Middle name Gene 💙
