Good luck for the scans tomorrow!

I've got my next growth scan at 3. These 3 weeks have gone way to fast. I'm up for a Facebook group or something for when babies are here,

Hope everyone had a nice weekend x

Smilingdonkey · 11/01/2021 19:53

Hi all!

I have got so behind now I can't remember who was doing what! 😫 Sorry!

I haven't started my bag at all - I am assuming this one will be two weeks late as well so 10 weeks seems far away! I did go to the baby aisle in Sainsbury's the other day planning to buy some stuff but once I got there it was just too massive a task and I ran away from it! I haven't bought the baby any clothes or anything as I have all DDs stuff but I will buy a pack of new babygrows to come home in - seems only fair! I have also got her a special hat and a cardie and booties set ... Just so she has something of her own. I think I'll get her a special blanket too as DD still sleeps with her one!

I know because of fibroids I will have to be in hospital for the birth and won't be able to have a water birth 😭 But there will be lots of things I will insist on being different this time. I absolutely will not be having an induction unless it's an emergency! Biggest mistake of my life! I refused the first one and they really pushed me into it when I hit 42 weeks - but I know now contractions had started and it made it so much worse. She would have come in her own time - in fact I think she would have come more quickly - if we'd left her to it! I hated being monitored and being made to lie on the bed. This time I am going to be mobile and not be forced to give birth on a bed when my whole body was telling me otherwise! I hated the days the induction took but I LOVED the delivery in the end however. I found it so empowering and intense in an amazing way!

We didn't put DD into sleeping bags until about 3-4 months as even the newborn ones were huge - and she was 8lb 10 at birth so not a small baby! Newborns don't move when asleep so blankets are perfectly safe 😊 Infact the sleeping bags seems way more unsafe to me at that age! We still have DD in them now at 2 though as they are fab when they are big enough!

Good luck with scans tomorrow! I have my 32 week growth scan tomorrow so it will be nice to see her again. I have the consultant afterwards so it will be good to ask about the iron tablets (which have really helped actually) and the constant UTIs I seem to be having 😫

Nurseries looking good ladies!
What are people doing about cribs? I think we will just go with then moses basket again ...

Xxx

Starfish762 · 11/01/2021 21:15

@MrsK21 good luck for tomorrow, will be thinking of you ❤️

Pugprincess · 12/01/2021 05:02

@DanceM1 I'm with you on the insomnia, awake now 🙄😅 same happened yesterday and I was so tired all day as I can't have a lay in as got to be up ready and on the computer by 9am.

Aw I would love to keep in touch with you all, I've not been on Facebook for about 4 years but if you are all wanting to use that I could be persuaded to rejoin for that purpose I think.

@Sakura54 I think I will start with cellular blankets too, I might have some but I need to check when I can get it all out, my chest of drawers is arriving Sunday so I can pull everything out and start washing and counting what I have and what I still need. X

@Workingmama1 lovely bump pic 💕

@RosieJess91 glad to hear you are feeling better 😊 outfit wise yes I think I will pack for both weathers and try to choose comfortable loose clothing. Baby wise I'm picturing vests, babygrows, cardigans, and hats at the moment, and blankets of course.

@SkyBlue20 ah thank you, he's a hard worker, defo deserves some evenings off this week though bless him, think he's on about blasting through some sanding and more pva on the remaining wall and a bit on Friday eve ready for plastering at weekend. We have made some decisions on skirting and doors just waiting on prices and delivery quote. Loving the idea of dim lights and think I should check out this positive birth company. Are they expensive? Glad to see you are feeling much happier with all the movement, the reassurance makes all the difference doesn't it, I worry if baby is quiet for a few hours, yesterday I drank cold water and ate chocolate and it started kicking again so I was like phew lol. Even though it had already been active all day and was probably wanting a sleep lol.

@MrsK21 best of luck with your scan tomorrow, great to have it done early in the day. Hope baby behaves and they can get all the checks done 🤞🏻

@Starfish762 did you find out where your placenta is yet?

@ew1990 good luck for your growth scan xxx

@Smilingdonkey it sounds like you really know what you want this time and feeling determined 💪🏻 I can imagine I'm the type to lay down rolling around in pain as that's what I did during miscarriage 😔 I'd like to try gas and air and see how I go, open to epidural if its unbearable and not too late. Maybe if I do a course like @SkyBlue20 I can find out about positions for labour etc that may work better. Cot wise I will have a big cot set up in nursery but that won't be used for sometime. I will have the next to my bed Co sleeper cot, and will use a moses basket downstairs. I have a travel cot when they are too big for moses basket but I'm wondering can they nap downstairs in their pram? Mines big, firm and flat so I can't see any harm until they grow out of that. Pram would take up less room than travel cot. Is it about 6 months old when they can nap in the day and not be in the same room as you? I think I will keep them in my bedroom for overnight for a year most likely but see how we go. I will move large cot into my bedroom when Co sleeper is too small.

ew1990 · 12/01/2021 08:05

@pugprincess I had a moses basket downstairs with DD that she hated 🙈 she used to nap in her pram in the carrycot, they normally say whether they are safe for sleeping but I guess it's only like taking them out and then falling asleep. Then we had a travel cot in our bedroom with a proper mattress in it until she outgrew that and then we moved the big cot in. But tbh she wasn't a good sleeper. Hoping the next one is.

I was adament with her I only wanted gas and air but ended up with pethidine too, the contractions were bad but I had the hormone drio which makes them worse apparently and she was back to back but as soon as I started crowning the pain almost went.

Your DP is doing brill on the nursery, we need to get new wardrobe and drawers for DDs bedroom as they are getting a bit cramped now with all the babies stuff

SkyBlue20 · 12/01/2021 13:45

Afternoon all!

Good luck with the scans this week, exciting to have so many!

@Starfish762 I didn’t have real movements until almost 22 weeks and I know that can be common so try not to worry too much. Know that’s easier said than done though, I too couldn’t relax until I had them!

@Smilingdonkey interesting about the sleeping bags and blankets, thank you!
In terms of sleeping arrangements, we have a Moses basket for downstairs and a next2me for our room, then we’ll get a cot bed for her room when she’s closer to going in it.

@Pugprincess I think the PBC is about £40/£50 for the digital pack so not too bad. I got mine on offer on Black Friday so not 100% sure on the exact price but think it’s in that bracket. There’s some of it (so far) that isn’t for me (positive affirmations, light touch massage - if dh tried to massage me in labour I think I’d want to punch him 😂) but a lot that’s really informative - it goes in to all of the science and how your body is made for labour etc and then there are breathing techniques and I’m currently on to a part that’s taking about making decisions in labour etc, so I have found it really helpful!

MrsK21 · 12/01/2021 14:28

Thank you everyone for the messages!

I had my scan this morning and baby was very naughty and moving lots but we had a very patient sonographer who spent lots of time doing all the checks (all looked fine!)
So relieved to hit this milestone.
I've got a consultant appointment next week but nothing else booked in with midwives - so not sure what to aim for now as my next milestone!

Lollol86 · 12/01/2021 14:42

@Sakura54 thank you for the new thread

DanceM1 · 12/01/2021 15:26

@pugprincess the insomnia is a nightmare isnt it 🙈 I'm the same, start my first zoom at 9 but like to have everything prepped and ready by 8.45. Still get to sleep later than I would in school to be fair! Hope you get a better night's sleep tonight!

DanceM1 · 12/01/2021 15:26

@MrsK21 glad your scan went well! Lovely news 🥰

JennyMY · 12/01/2021 16:03

Hi everyone, just wanted to say hi and ask if it's ok to join you guys again? I was on for a short while last year but took some time out after we had bad news about the little girl twin I was carrying who we sadly lost in September - I didn't want to bring negativity or worry to the group. I'm happy to say her twin brother is doing really well and is due on 15th Feb. 😊💙I'm having an elective Caesarian because of the complications in the pregnancy and have been so cautious about planning for his arrival but I'm now 34 weeks and looking forward so much to him being here! I've been lurking on and off to follow your journeys and have loved seeing how well things are going for everyone! So exciting that we'll soon have our rainbow babies in our arms 🌈❤️xxx

Starfish762 · 12/01/2021 16:09

@MrsK21 yey! Congratulations! Did you find out gender?

@JennyMY welcome back! Sorry for your loss. So pleased all is well with your little boy 💙

Thanks ladies for reassurance on movements. Everything crossed we see a little wriggler on the scan tomorrow & all development is okay - the time is dragging I just want it over with 😩

Poppy10121 · 12/01/2021 16:13

@Pugprincess I also signed up to a hyponbirthing course on a Black Friday deal birth-ed.co.uk/ it's £40 normally. Like @Skyblue20 I'm finding it hit and miss, some stuff is interesting to me and other bits I find a bit drawn out and don't think we will do. It's about 7-8 hours in total so its a lot to fit in! To be honest I think you could probably get a lot of the breathing techniques from free/short classes rather than doing the full thing.

Last night I went to the Honest Midwife Labour & Birth free Zoom class which was so good, I would really recommend it! She said they also do a one off hypnobirthing workshop for £20 which I think I'd sign up to if I wasn't already doing the other one www.letstalkbirthandbaby.co.uk/online-antenatal-classes/
I'm considering signing up to her Complex Labour & Birth session because she was so engaging, really informative and answered everyone's questions.

@MrsK21Glad everything went well for you! :-)

Smilingdonkey · 12/01/2021 17:35

@jennymy so nice to have you back. I'm very pleased your boy is doing well! He might well be our first baby here! Xxxx

Smilingdonkey · 12/01/2021 17:36

I got the wrong time for my scan today and so missed it and my consultant appointment! Now need to wait until 34 weeks for my 32 week scan and then have another at 36 weeks 😫😫 I'm such an idiot!

ew1990 · 12/01/2021 18:08

@mrsk1 yay to the scan.

@jennym welcome back, ooh not long now then.

@smilingdonkey oh no! Where you late by a lot or?

My growth scan has just sent me into a worrying panic, she's gone from 25th centile to 10th centile, the fluids good and blood flow to placenta but just not put on as much weight as they'd have like. I'm trying not to panic though as they did have me in loads of positions because she was moving so much and it was hard to measure her.

My appetite has been shocking as well so I really need to make an effort to force myself to eat and hope she's doing a bit better at my next one in 3 weeks because I really don't want to be induced again

MrsK21 · 12/01/2021 18:18

@JennyMY glad to hear your little boy is doing well and you’ve not got long left to go

@Starfish762 yes we decided last minute to find out and we’re having a girl! I would’ve been pleased with either but curiosity got the better of us!
What time is yours tomorrow? Hope all. Goes well xx

DanceM1 · 12/01/2021 19:19

Welcome back @JennyMY, so lovely to hear that your little boy is doing well. Its funny because you saying you're 34 weeks make me think "oh she will have her baby any time now!" Yet I'm 33 weeks on Thursday and still feel like its ages away for me 🤣

@Poppy10121 thank you for sharing. I may look at that hypnobirthing course. Didnt want to spend loads on one after doing NCT as well. My sister gave me her book and said all the music etc is on Spotify so no point doing a course. However, £20 sounds good and may be a nicer way to do it than just reading it!

@ew1990 you sound like me exactly a week ago after my growth scan just a different issue. I am sure your baby is completely fine and next time you go baby will have grown. Have they booked you in for another scan? Try not to worry! I know that's easier said than done but if everything else was looking good that's a good sign!

DanceM1 · 12/01/2021 19:21

Sorry @Smilingdonkey I meant to say I'm sorry you missed your scan! What a shame!! I bet you are gutted. Just think how lovely it will be to see baby in 2 weeks though!

ew1990 · 12/01/2021 19:45

@dancem1 yeah they said they will get me back in 3 weeks, I don't know why I'm panicking this happened with DD and they said she was about 4lb and she was 6lb 7 born, this was at 38 weeks as well and I'm only 31 weeks and they reckon she weighs like 3lb6.

My BP was really low too - like 82 over 50. I had to wait a bit and then they re checked it. Been a busy day though and not drank much so that's probably why

Lollol86 · 12/01/2021 19:57

@HappyVibes here we are, when you are ready ❤️

JennyMY · 12/01/2021 20:28

Thanks everyone 😊
Ladies who are worried about their baby's growth, my little boy was measuring at on 50th centile at 19 weeks, on 80th-90th centile at 21 weeks, and now back to 50th for most things (just 30th for weight so they are monitoring him) - my midwife said the accuracy can really vary! I have another growth scan on Monday so will be interesting to see...xx

Workingmama1 · 12/01/2021 21:14

Welcome back @jennyMY, so glad you have rejoined us. Sorry to hear about your little twin girl but pleased that your little boy is doing well.

@ew1990 hopefully she was just difficult to measure which could through measurements off. Did they seem concerned?

I had my own growth scare today, my bump is measuring off the scale small. It was always perfect for my daughter which is concerning. Baby was quieter this morning so the midwife has booked me in for a scan tomorrow morning and I was in for monitoring today. Monitoring was fine (but another looong wait!) Hopefully the scan is ok tomorrow. I've attached my bump chart so you can see how far off it is. Oh and also the midwife said I've started to get separation of my stomach muscles and will need physio post birth 😭

Managed to get my whooping cough vaccine while I was at the hospital though. And have my gtt tomorrow too which was already booked in and is pretty much straight after my scan which is convenient.

The lady in the bay next to my at the day unit was in for her 4th episode of reduced movements and I was listening to the dr talking to her. I was really unimpressed with him. He came over and asked her to update him on what was going on, reminded her there hadn't been growth in the last two weeks and then asked her "do you think we should induce you". He didn't give a medical opinion at all. And then explained the induction process so badly. It just reminded me how important it is for us to be educated so we can ask the right questions so we can advocate for ourselves.

Pugprincess · 13/01/2021 00:38

Thanks @ew1990 I will check the instructions on my pram but I bet it will be fine to use that. Is it 6 months of age they can sleep in another room? Thinking more for daytime naps if I wanted to put baby upstairs in cot while I get on with things downstairs for example.

@SkyBlue20 thanks for that info, I will be definitely be on the look out for something else after I've done this sundays breastfeeding course 😁 keen to learn as much as possible now.

@MrsK21 ah so baby was naughty 😅 mine was too, least yours managed to get everything done though so that's good, and congratulations on it being a little girl ❤️ Next milestone can either be each week or 24 is a nice one too cause of the viability thing.

@DanceM1 thank you I hope you sleep better tonight too 🤞🏻

@jennyMY sorry to hear what happened with your twin girl but glad baby boy is doing well, best of luck with your birth ❤️

@Starfish762 good luck with your scan tomorrow 💕

@poppy sounds like I missed out on black Friday hehe. I will try and see what other free things are out there and exhaust those before I start paying out I think. See how I go and if I feel prepared enough from what I get done I guess. Thank for you the link.

@Smilingdonkey bless you, classic case of baby brain maybe?

@Workingmama1 I'm no good with the charts as I'm yet to have this done, what should the two lines be doing? Sure it was you that posted a bump pic yesterday? Looked a good size to me. Glad the monitoring went well and hope the scan does too 🤞🏻 xx

I've felt hiccups for only the second time ever today 🥰 too cute. Only started feeling them recently, guess they are harder to feel than kicks though. It was after a hot chocolate so my theory is baby was enjoying the taste of the amniotic fluid and gave itself hiccups 😅 I've also had leaky boobs again today lol. Even just walking around the house they started. That's 3 times I think I've leaked now lol. Can't believe I only have 9 days left in the 2nd trimester. Nursery wise we are hoping the doors and skirting boards will arrive tomorrow 🤞🏻 replacing all 3 doors upstairs so that they all match as at the moment there's 2 battered dark wood and one white. X
