@workingmama hope the scan goes well, I know a girl who didn't even have a bump but her baby was born at 9lb.

They didn't seem worried about mine just said they don't want it to fall even more so just a matter of waiting for the next scan in 3 weeks.

@pugprincess they say to keep in the same room as you for all sleep untill 6 months. I used to just do stuff with DD around and try and make noise so she got used to it, even though she's a rubbish sleeper once she's asleep that's it she sleeps through noise.

Poppy10121 · 13/01/2021 10:30

@JennyMY nice to hear from you again! So glad all is going well with your little boy. Not long til you get to meet him now, so exciting!

@Smilingdonkey Oh no! Easily done though!

@ew1990 my friend had scans after every midwife appointment because they thought the baby was measuring too small and he also ended up coming out at almost 7lb, I think the technology is so imprecise! But still I understand why it’s worrying :(

@Workingmama1 I’m so surprised to hear that because your bump looked lovely in your photo! I think you are about the same stage as me and mine is half the size. I’ve got my first in-person midwife appointment today (28 weeks) so will see what they say. I hope your scan goes well today.

@Pugprincess there are definitely lots of free resources out there at the moment, and lots of places doing Instagram lives once or twice a week too. I think I’ll see how I go with NCT and maybe top up with some classes from Honest Midwife as you can choose specific modules and they’re not too pricey. So lovely that you felt hiccups, I’ve not had that yet!

Got my midwife appointment this afternoon and I am now starting to worry about the size of my bump but I guess they will tell me if its anything to worry about or not!

Starfish762 · 13/01/2021 10:49

Hi ladies - just a reminder that at no point during my pregnancy with DD was my bump measured or plotted on a graph, my trust don’t do it because it’s so inaccurate & causes unnecessary worry! You can’t tell how big/small a baby is by the size of a bump! Totally understand your worry @Workingmama1 because they’ve planted the seed, hope the scan goes well.

My scanxiety is through the roof today, woke at 5am, time is dragging 😩

Sakura54 · 13/01/2021 10:50

@JennyMY Welcome back. Glad baby is fine and that you have a date already.

@Pugprincess I wasn’t in labour for long, but it progressed from 0 to 100 in a few hours and Gas and Air did nothing for me. I’m also the type to lie around when in pain otherwise I feel faint as blood pressure drops. Even bad period pains make me need to lie down so I can’t imagine walking around when in labour!

I let DS sleep anywhere on anything - cot, pram, bed, floor, sofa, hammock (!) - depending on where I was, but I was always nearby checking even when he got older.

@Workingmama1 That must be so confusing for you as from the bump pics you’ve showed, it looks big? My understanding was the fundal height should correspond with the gestation and 2cm higher or lower means it’s fine, but the whole thing is a bit confusing really as we don’t really know what they feel when they examine us and the fact even scans aren’t accurate. I’m sure your scan will be fine!

I agree with staying in touch once the babies arrive. We’ve been on such a journey, haven’t we and somehow it’s coming to an end. I don’t mind either WhatsApp or FB. I don’t really use FB though.

Morning all!

@mrsK21 Congrats on the scan and your baby girl! I agree, 24 week viability is a good one to work towards now – not long to go!

Welcome back, @JennyMy, I’m so sorry for the loss of your little girl 💕 Really pleased everything is going well with your little boy – not too long until you meet him now, that will fly by!

@SmilingDonkey Oh no, how frustrating about your appointment! Bet that happens all the time.

@ew1990 So sorry for the worry – these things can be out, especially if they were struggling to measure her but completely understand the stress around it!

@WorkingMama1 Hope the scan goes well today, it’s so worrying but odds are that all is fine xx

Hope all of the scans and appointments today/tomorrow go well!

Just back from my 31 week midwife appointment – I’ve got a new midwife and I love her, she’s so nice! Bump is still plotting on the 10th centile but the growth is following the curve so they’re not worried. She was saying that she’s not worried about my bump plotting low as I’m ‘slight anyway’ and ‘have strong stomach muscles’ (I could have kissed her for saying that 😂), so she’d anticipate that baby will come out bigger than that measurement would have us believe. I explained I’d had my private growth scan and all looked good etc and she was happy, so I’m feeling good about it all. She also said that baby is head down and really low in my pelvis (from where she was measuring she really is VERY low 😂), seems baby girl has got herself comfortable down there!

Starfish762 · 13/01/2021 16:02

@MrsK21 congrats on your little girl!

@SkyBlue20 your new MW sounds amazing, how to put your patients on top of the world! 😂🙌🏼

20w scan was amazing! Such a little wriggler, mouth opening & closing, thumbs up, constant flips - it’s a miracle we got a pic! Hematoma STILL there but shrunk slightly, and he said not a concern anyway. Our sex ban is over 🤣🙌🏼 Need another scan at 28w because DD was small (5lb 11 born at 40w). I think more a precaution rather than this babe measuring small, coz he said everything was perfect - I daren’t look at notes coz gender is on there & we don’t want to know until our cake is ready Friday, trying to make it special for DD. I think girl though, but suppose it’s just a hunch & signs, none of it prob means anything.

@starfish762 ooh I think it's a girl! I'll attach a photo of my scan picture from yesterday, could only fit her head on.

@Workingmama1 hope the scan went well?

Glad scan went well @starfish762! Lovely pic too.

@skyblue20 I hope your new midwife has been able to aliviate some of your worries.

My growth scan was fine, baby just above 10th centile so on the small size but they don't think it needs further monitoring,.just said be aware of movements as smaller babies have fewer reserves to deal with stressors. Annoyingly they didnt tell me I would need a doctor to review my scan or that they weren't in until 10 and my scan was at 8:15! I had my gtt test too so was starving by the time I got home at 11am after fasting as I didnt take enough snacks as I thought I would be home for 9:30.

I also stupidly tried to open a door at hospital using my foot to avoid touching the door and pulled a stomach muscle. It hurt when I did it but when I came home it was so painful. I've had to crawl up the stairs its so sore.

Starfish762 · 13/01/2021 18:38

@Workingmama1 oh gosh that’s annoying you were hanging around that long, surely they realise pregnant women need to eat 🙈 So pleased all OK though!

Workingmama1 · 13/01/2021 20:04

@starfish762 the worst part was when a HCA told me off for having my mask down for a second while I tried to eat my snack! Meanwhile it took them more than 20 minutes to bring visors for the ladies who were exempt from where masks....

ew1990 · 13/01/2021 20:14

@workingmama I got told off off the sonographer, I pulled it down like 1mm where it was on my nose so I could itch my nose, my nostrils were still covered, and I couldnt breathe properly Coz she had my tilted all the way upside down on the bed.

Glad the scan went well.

SkyBlue20 · 14/01/2021 09:57

Congratulations on your scan, @Starfish762 - it all sounds really positive and such a lovely pic ☺️ Bet you can't wait to find out the sex now, not long to go!

@ew1990 Lovely scan pic, too!

@Workingmama1 Sorry your day sounds so frustrating but glad all is looking ok with baby 😊

We start our NCT tonight, I'm really excited - it just feels like another step closer! Then we have it half day Sat and Sun, too (as well as next week and the one after), so it's going to be an intense few days! Pram should be arriving any day from tomorrow, too - I'm so excited!

JoJo58995 · 14/01/2021 14:16

@Sakura54 thank you for the new thread!
Sorry I've been a bit quiet for the past week, been v hectic trying to get things sorted with work, got myself all stressed and then worried I couldn't feel baby as much on sunday and monday so brain started to stress but she's been more lively since thank goodness 💕 Thank you so much for all the support and advice about whether to work from home. I've chatted it through at length with DH and come to the difficult (but I think right) decision to stop at 28+1. It wasn't what I had wanted or planned, but my boss is being very supportive and I will do what I can from home and use up my holiday and just try to keep myself sane but hopefully reduce the risks. I just need to do what I can after everything we've been through and how special baby girl is 💕💕
So much to catch up on so I will no doubt forget some things sorry!
@JennyMY I'm so sorry for your loss but congratulations on your little boy, not long to go now 💙
@MrsK21 congratulations on the scan 💕💕
@Poppy10121 I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the honest midwife session, I've just been recommended it over the NCT classes and was unsure which to do. A friend said the lady was telling her husband and child off all the way through it (?!) but that it was still really informative and worth doing so I was just having a look at them and it's nice to hear another recommendation.
@ew1990 sorry to hear about the worries....fingers crossed her growth catches up, that's good that fluid and blood flow are looking ok though!
@SkyBlue20 I'm so glad you have a new more reassuring midwife! Your 4D scan pics are gorgeous, I'm so happy you can feel her more and are feeling so much happier 😁😁
With the group B strep I tested positive for it as part of the testing after my incomplete miscarriage. They said they don't routinely test for it because it can be hit and miss as to whether it is picked up, but it's definitely worth knowing as they will have me in earlier if they can and get antibiotics in to hopefully reduce the risk to baby! I thought I might not be allowed a water birth but the midwife said yesterday that I am so at least that is an option. I'm glad you're enjoying the hypnobirthing course so far....I've been reading a book called 'Your Baby, Your Birth' by Hollie de Cruz, along with her MP3s and I love them. I have also said to DH about wanting dim lighting, and I'd like some lavender aromatherapy oils in there if I can....make things as spa like as possible 🤣🤣 DH doesn't want to practice back rubs though 🤣 I've thought about starting to compile a playlist and am already feeling more relaxed about the whole thing. Let's see how long it can continue....
Hope you're all doing ok 💕💕

Poppy10121 · 14/01/2021 14:25

@JoJo58995 I'm glad you were able to find a solution for work, you just need to do what's right for you and the baby and it sounds like you are :)
If you are interested in the Honest Midwife, the first session (I think its called Natural Labour & Birth) is free so maybe give that a try and see if you like her style? She did at one point shout to her husband off screen to take the dog out! But overall I just found her really engaging and full of energy compared to a lot of the online classes I have looked at where it feels more they are just getting through a script. She answered every single question that got asked too. My husband thought it was really good too, we've decided to sign up for Complex Labour & Birth class which covers interventions and sections etc - I feel like the more you understand all the options the better!

bubblybon20 · 14/01/2021 15:32

Sorry for jumping in randomly!
Feel really really crap today, just had midwife, and they measured and said that I've got to go for a growth scan on Tuesday, (but wanted one sooner the way she was talking) baby is measuring smaller every appointment and his not following the curve 😞 never had to have a growth scan before, as my boys both weighed 8lb 3. And 8lb 8! So would class this as normal for me. 😫😫😫

SkyBlue20 · 14/01/2021 16:00

@bubblybon20 So sorry to hear that, it's so stressful - and the wait until Tuesday is only going to add to the worry! Can you possibly get a private one in the meantime just to check up on everything in there? It might just help you get through to Tuesday, at least, when everything can be looked at again?

SkyBlue20 · 14/01/2021 16:02

@JoJo58995 Sounds like the right idea for you to stop work and I bet just having made the decision is a relief in itself. How much longer does that leave you until you finish?

bubblybon20 · 14/01/2021 16:05

No the private unit near me is booked up until next Thursday! Typical 😂 I don't mind waiting, I've been saying to DH the past month or so that I don't feel my stomach has grown much, also shared my concerns with my Midwives, but obviously they've only just realised that his not measuring his below the 50th centile. I don't understand any of that though to be honest 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

JoJo58995 · 14/01/2021 17:14

@Poppy10121 ah we'll definitely give it a go then and see how we get on! Thank you for the advice! How many weeks are you now? I'm 24+4 so not sure when the best time to start them is....

JoJo58995 · 14/01/2021 17:16

@bubblybon20 I'm sorry that you now have the worry waiting. Fingers crossed little one is absolutely fine in there, as people have said some bumps are just very small and don't correlate with the actual birth weight well at all so let's hope it's that. Thinking of you xx

JoJo58995 · 14/01/2021 17:20

@SkyBlue20 yeah it is a relief just having decided. I do feel sad about it, I was so looking forward to staying with my colleagues and seeing my favourite clients until much closer to my due date but I was just starting to feel like if anything happened I would never forgive myself and it was making me really anxious. It's only 3 + 1/2 weeks until I finish now it's crazy! Part of me wants it to be now because the case numbers are so high I just want to stay away now I know I am finishing early. It's a long time to be at home though, I'm very lucky I haven't worked from home at all (because I'm so limited with what I can do) throughout any of this, but will just have to keep myself as sane as possible! I've barely moved off the sofa today I'm having such a lazy day 🤦‍♀️

ew1990 · 14/01/2021 17:35

@bubblybon20 sorry you've got the worry too, they like to keep us on our toes these babies!

About the centiles if your baby is on the 50th that means that there would be 49 babies who weighed less than him and 50 who weighed more, so if they were on the 25th centile there would be 24 smaller and 75 bigger. I don't know if that makes sense?

bubblybon20 · 14/01/2021 17:46

@JoJo58995 Thankyou! Hoping that is the case, or that his just well tucked into my pelvis, as his been head down since 28 weeks!

@ew1990 yes that makes sense, have noticed a few of you having to have extra scan ect. Just never thought I would be one of them with the sizes of my previous babies! 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

Threnody · 14/01/2021 17:54

Oh gosh, a new thread and so much to catch up on! Will read back in a bit. Sorry I've been away a while. I've been telling people about the pregnancy now, my dad nearly spat out his mince pie. My boss seems happy for me, though there won't be any maternity cover so I feel a bit like I'll be leaving them in the lurch. Everything is so busy at the moment with homeschooling as well, I just feel permanently tired. 19+2 today, so nearly half way.
