Is around who's due in April 2021? How are you feeling?

I was in a thread on here in early pregnancy, dropped off when I joined the buddies Facebook group, I'm still in it but its not really for me.... I miss having a place to go to chat pregnancy though.

Almost 21 weeks here and can’t believe how fast it’s going. I know that it will fly by once we’re into January!

I’m going to be working from home as our office is staying shut until June so I’m going to try and start maternity leave as late as possible. Thinking of finishing when I’m 38+3 at the moment. Not sure how I’ll feel by then though! Already fed up with work!

Wavesandsmilesencore · 06/12/2020 13:16

Can I join in please? I’m 21+6 here and weirdly still anxious even though I’ve had NIPT with no issues and the scan last week showed everything is perfectly normal. I live in Europe and in our country it’s compulsory to start antenatal leave 8 weeks before due date, then another 12 weeks after. So I’m working for the next 2 weeks, then 2 weeks leave, then work for 6 weeks and probably not back until September!

I’m still keeping things very much quiet, my boss and HR know as they need to organise cover for my role but family, including my DCs are unaware. I’m wanting to not put worry on anyone as they can’t really travel to visit due to covid, and my DSis had a very late stillbirth a few years ago which will also be a source of worry for everyone.

I’m hoping to leave the buying of “things” until the leave starts in February as I have literally no idea how else I’ll fill the time between then and April!

boymum88 · 06/12/2020 14:07

21+1 now I'm just hoping to make it past 28 weeks when my ds was born, I'm off work until baby is born as work in a hospital so with this being a high risk preg it's not safe for me to be there
Looking forward to just after Christmas when ds new bedroom stuff arrives and we can sort out his old bits for the new baby

LuckyFlash · 06/12/2020 17:48

Hi all. Hope it’s ok to join. I was in a group in my 1st trimester but they all joined the FB group so glad to find this one! I’m 22 weeks today, due 11th April with a little boy - first baby!

Agree if all feels like it’s going quite fast now. I definitely feel like I’m starting to get that nesting instinct. Not bought anything yet but planning to do in the jan sales.

Is anyone else still feeling tired? All I keep seeing about the second trimester is how much energy you should have but honestly if I do anything remotely active in the day it wipes me out. Plus I can’t sleep at night so not sure that’s helping

firsttimemomtobex · 06/12/2020 19:59

@LuckyFlash it's my first baby too and we're having a boy! We've bought tonnes.. just looked at the joint account and nearly cried so think I better stop haha 😂 I'm still feeling tired most of the time too, I did loads yesterday but then it's knocked me about today so don't feel like you're the only one!x

GreySkyClouds · 06/12/2020 20:01

Nice to have this thread back. I’m not in the fb group.

Feeling a bit overwhelmed. Am in such pain between my thighs when walking, stairs or turning over at night. Midwives never answer the phone or respond to texts. Feel a bit lost and stupid.

On the plus side, I’m 20 weeks and baby has a strong heart beat and is growing well. As long as that’s okay, then it’s all worth it.

Ttwinksy · 06/12/2020 20:26

@luckyflash
Oh my goodness, YES. Where is this magical second trimester energy I keep reading about?! And where's my pregnancy glow dammit?! Am just knackered, and I look it.

Re mat leave, I'm also working from home and hoping to work for as close as possible to my due date to maximise time off when bubs is here. I only get basic statutory mat pay so will have to go back to work after the pay runs out at around 8/9 months....so every extra week I can get post birth will be worth it...

Luckily I have been allowed to roll over some holiday (about a week) from this year into next, so will take that before my due date and then hopefully store up all my 2021 leave to extend my mat leave at the end. I've got a chat with HR next week, fingers crossed they let me do that Confused.
At the end if the day its just a pencilled in plan I guess, no telling how any of us will feel in a few months time!!

Ttwinksy · 06/12/2020 20:31

Oh @greyskyclouds poor you, sounds horrific. Sounds like could be SPD maybe? Could you ask your GP to refer you to physio if the midwife isn't being helpful? I've heard others say they've found it helpful.

Annoyingly I'm not allowed to contact the midwife AT ALL in my area, which seems weird. They just say to call the hospital if I have concerns. But I'd feel silly calling hospital for some of the questions I have!

Rh8781 · 06/12/2020 20:55

Tiredness and lack of sleep here too! Sad I seem to be waking up between 2am and 4/5am every night, but avoiding napping in the day (if I can) because I’m worried I won’t sleep at night! Can’t win!

InTheFamilyTree · 06/12/2020 22:04

Hi everyone, due at end of April, think I'm 19 weeks but can't remember - 3rd baby so barely any time to notice I'm pregnant! Tired and really out of breath, not sure i can blame that entirely on hormones as could be old age

Ickli · 07/12/2020 07:32

I'm also struggling with insomnia like some of you. A "good" night's sleep is now one where I go to the loo twice and wake up 8 other times but don't lie awake - on bad nights I struggle to get more than a couple of hours. Speaking to a Dr today about it.
Despite that, I'm feeling like I have more energy - but only in comparison to the utter crushing exhaustion I had in first trimester. Compared to pre-preg me- nope.

Robynnleannee · 07/12/2020 09:00

Hi, I’m 21 weeks pregnant and already have a 9 month old! I’m worried about labour this time as I had to have an emergency c-section with my first pregnancy and I’m scared if I try go natural this time there’s a chance of uterine rupture. I worry about it all the time! Does anyone have any advice ?

Ttwinksy · 07/12/2020 10:45

Think last night was the first night that I've woken up at stupid o'clock not because I was uncomfortable (which is the normal state of affairs), but because baby was throwing shapes and having a right old party in there Grin. At least it made me smile at 4am!
Anyone experienced the baby hiccups yet? Am really looking forward to it weirdly!

Sexnotgender · 07/12/2020 10:47

Hey due date buddy! I’m due 10th April too.

I’m currently sitting in the maternity ward waiting to see a doctor as I might have Covid 😕

UnicornAndSparkles · 07/12/2020 12:40

Also experiencing the sleepless nights 😴 im up a couple of times for the loo and have noticed DD wakes in the night and quietly calls for me. Im not sure if this is new or I just am awake more now to notice it. So I'm going into her room and comforting her most nights for a few min and then boom I'm wide awake for well over an hour. Bought a pregnancy pillow but its too hard under my head so I've stopped using it, trying for a pillow between my knees instead. Still waking maybe 8 times a night though. Its exhausting!

BoJingle · 07/12/2020 13:08

@Sexnotgender that sounds scary, do you feel terrible?

Are you on the general ward or separated due to the covid possibility?

bunhead34 · 07/12/2020 13:17

On the subject of sleep - I got some magnesium sleep lotion from Holland and barratt, I do think it helps! Worth a try, it's £10 and says on it safe for pregos.

Is anyone else still dealing with nausea? I'm almost 22 weeks, it should be gone by now! 🤢😭

Sexnotgender · 07/12/2020 13:32

I’m in a side room in isolation.

Just having some tests done.

Sexnotgender · 07/12/2020 14:12

Now being admitted. My observations are not terrible but my breathing is really laboured and I’m wheezy. No results back on my Covid test yet.

BunsNPosies · 07/12/2020 18:23

Just catching up on the thread.
Re:sleep, it has improved a little bit since first trimester but still getting up a few times in the night to use the loo. Takes a while to drop off and get comfy again.

I stopped with sickness about 16 weeks but it has made a reappearance. Was sick around lunchtime and actually wet myself a bit (sorry tmi) which has never happened before. I was caught between horror and hysterical laughter and immediately got on with the pelvic floor exercises!! Blush
Mustn't have tried hard enough with my first pregnancy lol.

I'm hoping to finish work as late as possible, but waiting to confirm if I will be having a csection again. My first was 2 weeks overdue so I had a month off with no baby. It was nice to chill at first but then got so frustrated to not be in labour I went a bit mad on the bouncy ball thing (developed thighs of steel though! Sadly they disappeared quickly).

BoJingle · 07/12/2020 20:24

What would you all do if you were me?

My midwife wants to see me for my 25 week appointment, even though I'm a stm and the guidelines state I shouldn't be seen until 28w.

I'm also high risk this time which i think is utterly ridiculous 🙄 so aswell as midwife appointments i have hospital ones too.

I've not booked my 25w apt and I'm considering just not bothering because I honestly cba with so many appointments 🙉 If she asks me ill just tell her I forgot 😂 or should I just book it?

Glad someone started an April one up

I'm 20 weeks, due end of April (around 25th)
Have 20 wk scan on Thursday but we're not finding out sex.
Are most others having a surprise too?

LeopardLover · 07/12/2020 21:49

Hi all! I'm in the FB group but miss the forum chat 😅 21 weeks, FTM, due 18th April. I'm a very light sleeper these days.

@GreySkyClouds Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that! I have pain during the night in my hips too but I'm okay walking. It's not good you're not feeling supported 😔

Xx

doritodiva · 07/12/2020 21:50

Can I join? Didn't want to join the Facebook group. Due 10th April and am 22 weeks having a boy! Felt some flutters. This is my second.

BoJingle · 07/12/2020 22:58

@Bruce2 I'm having a surprise😄
