Is around who's due in April 2021? How are you feeling?

I was in a thread on here in early pregnancy, dropped off when I joined the buddies Facebook group, I'm still in it but its not really for me.... I miss having a place to go to chat pregnancy though.

OP posts:

@SunnySideUp2020 I was told it's because I might need further intervention such as a c-section and then it's like a normal operation where they don't want you vomiting. I imagine it might be case by case basis though.

BaaHumbugg · 19/03/2021 21:42

Yes in my case they made me eat before the drip and the epidural, but they did give me toast straight after the birth, which I promptly threw up! Grin

SunnySideUp2020 · 20/03/2021 07:28

@sylbunny @BaaHumbugg
Ok good to know. I always thought it was fine to eat with the epidural! Guess I'll remember to eat my snacks beforehand 😄
Thanks!

Hi everyone iv been stalking this post for weeks I am currently 36 weeks due the 16th April 3rd baby but 13 year age gap between baby and youngest so I litreally can not remember most of pregnancy or labour haha..... I'm so ready for baby to be here but dh doesn't return from work till 9th April and due to go back 30th..... Do you think it would be unreasonable to ask my midwife about induction on my due date to this my massive anxiety is that I go over and end up having a c section and I'm alone and have to rely on my children to help

JTB123 · 20/03/2021 11:29

Gosh have soooo much pressure today 😩 just feel so much heavier!
38 weeks tomorrow!

How is everyone feeling? X

SunnySideUp2020 · 20/03/2021 11:45

@JTB123 38 weeks today and feeling a bit shit tbh.
Nausea and pelvis pain are on today 😒

TheViewOutsideMyWindow · 20/03/2021 11:53

@Polly2020 welcome!

Why do you think you're likely to go overdue?

Worth talking to the midwife about your worries. Are your older children likely to be a help? A friend has a 15 year age gap between her youngest and eldest and found it a huge help. She has a middle one who was 10 when baby was born and again found that helpful for looking after baby.

Induction isn't a particularly nice experience so I wouldn't recommend, but you have to weigh it in balance with your concerns.

Feeling big and heavy today and having fanny daggers!

Polly2020 · 20/03/2021 11:56

@TheViewOutsideMyWindow there nothing particularly making me think I will just a concern..... The kids would be brill but obviously there at school and I don't want them to think that they need to do lots more they help with the housework and stuff like that it's more things like shopping or if I get unwell unfortunately I am one of those people who end up physically unwell a lot with infections I suppose its more anxiety more then anything x

TheViewOutsideMyWindow · 20/03/2021 12:01

@Polly2020 I'd get some delivery slots in place now to alleviate any shopping concerns. Is there anyone you could bubble with to support you of DH isn't around?

BaaHumbugg · 20/03/2021 12:35

I'm feeling a lot of pressure down there too, don't remember this with my first!

@flappityflippers1 are you all set for your section?

Hope everyone else is doing ok. I'm looking forward to being able to move around a bit easier when this baby is here. Although my sleep has been really good so that's going to be a shock to the system!

Catlady21 · 20/03/2021 12:52

Another one feeling very heavy. Baby has dropped considerably and at my MW appt the other day, she said baby is 3/5 engaged so at least it's going in the right direction. Getting lots of BHs too, never had them with my first two.

Flappityflippers1 · 20/03/2021 13:25

@BaaHumbugg yes all organised and set! Everything is packed, so just need to evict him now!

I’m struggling really badly with my mental health the last few days 😔 I’ve had to have a course of steroid jabs for his lungs and it’s affected my mood massively (low mood and anxiety), awful sleep, hot flushes - I struggle with my MH anyway but just really disappointed the steroids have had such a big affect as really wanted to enjoy this last weekend with DS, and here I am in bed!

Good luck @flappityflippers1 I hope you manage to feel better soon!

LuckyFlash · 21/03/2021 12:17

How comfortable would you all feel driving around an hour away from home by yourself at 37 weeks+? I just started mat leave and really want to visit a friend who lives an hour away who just had her baby (outside of course). I wouldn’t worry about it if DH was coming too but I would be on my own and driving. Is it foolish to think I’d be ok to drive an hour if I ended up going into labour while there?
I’ve not had any signs that I’ll go into labour early other than some bad lower back pain in the last few days that is new

Catlady21 · 21/03/2021 12:46

I'd not be going anywhere, but mine have all come early so far so wouldn't dare. No sign of labour beforehand for either of them.

Catlady21 · 21/03/2021 12:48

Both my labours were back to back contractions from the first contraction and waters went instantly too. I wouldn't have been able to get myself home in that state.

TheViewOutsideMyWindow · 21/03/2021 13:14

I wouldn't chance it either, my first baby came early and my waters broke instantly. No other labour signs. I wouldn't have been able to drive.

LuckyFlash · 21/03/2021 13:54

Thanks for the advice - I think I’ll stick close to home!

tinatsarina · 21/03/2021 14:45

Hi guys, I'm 38 weeks on Tuesday and I'm getting loads of BH and pressure but no other signs so far. I'm physically tired as I've sciatica on my left side and a 6 and 1 year old to care for to.

Wavesandsmilesencore · 21/03/2021 15:29

Sending positive thoughts to you @flappityflippers1 for a restful rest of the day and for tomorrow.
I’m nearly 37 weeks now, and after my appointment yesterday seems there will be a bit of a push for me to be induced around 39 weeks at the latest. Apparently the baby’s head is on the 90th percentile which frankly makes my eyes water! I’m a bit stressed about induction (had this with DD1 and even though I managed without additional interventions or epidural it was quite horrid) but equally stressed about going to or beyond term with such a big baby! Here the pain relief options are epidural or nothing, even water is removed as an option. Plus masks have to be worn constantly so it’s not going to be the calm water birth natural scenario I had with DD2....
it’s stressful partly as with me not having family in this country I know it’s going to be tough if there are spiralling interventions and possible c section. I’m seeing my consultant again next Saturday when we can talk about it more and come up with a bit of a plan.

tinatsarina · 21/03/2021 16:33

@Wavesandsmilesencore wow that does sound tough, is there not even a option for gas and air before an epidural? Why no water births?
