Is around who's due in April 2021? How are you feeling?

I was in a thread on here in early pregnancy, dropped off when I joined the buddies Facebook group, I'm still in it but its not really for me.... I miss having a place to go to chat pregnancy though.

@MinnieWebs for me, the sleeping has been the worst thing. I am definitely not a side sleeper! I also wake up 4 or 5 times a night and struggle to get back to sleep if it’s after about 4am. Other than that, I’ve been so so lucky symptom-wise. I’ve genuinely spent the last 20 weeks questioning if I really am pregnant! Wouldn’t believe it if I hadn’t seen the scan for myself!

I also want to buy all the tiny clothes, but am trying to be restrained! I’ve so far only bought one babygrow that was too cute to resist.

firsttimemomtobex · 01/12/2020 20:51

@clb8921 omg I'm so glad someone else feels the same as me! I still struggle to believe I'm pregnant sometimes even though I've had 3 scans but other than stomach cramps I could put down to period pain I have had 0 symptoms!!

Ttwinksy · 01/12/2020 21:09

@Rh8781 @MsHedgehog @MinnieWebs
Another one here for the 7th April first time mum group!
Been feeling movements since 16 weeks, now getting full on wriggles and kicks whenever I'm still for long periods or about an hour after I've eaten. But our lil lad is VERY active - sonographer actually snapped "oh would you just STAY STILL!" at baby during 20 week scan Grin. Wriggling so much he couldn't get a good look at his feet...
I have posterior placenta so probably helps with feeling strong movements early. Finding it nicely reassuring that he's doing well in there.

Been going a bit nuts on the black friday deals in the last week....going to try and rein it in now until Jan sales!!

Anyone else struggling with hip pain at night?

Rh8781 · 01/12/2020 21:16

@Ttwinksy That’s lovely! It seems to be a popular date! Grin

I’ve had some hip pain at night. I’m still trying to figure out a solution for it. It’s not been awful but I’ve changed from the Dreamgenii pillow (which I did like but think it’ll be better when the bump is bigger) to regular plump cushions and I wedge myself in and that seems to help a little.

I’ve been getting regular bouts of insomnia most nights between 2.30am-4am - the midwife said it’s my body getting ready for night feeds! Lol!

Ttwinksy · 01/12/2020 21:27

@Rh8781 Haha yeh everyone keeps telling me I should be getting lots of sleep while I still can, and I'm like uh, yeh that'd be nice if I could actually sodding sleep wouldn't it! Insomnia is the WORST isn't it?! I've been pretty lucky with most other symptoms really.
For hips I've also tried sleeping with regular pillow between my knees, and then a long pregnancy pillow (just asda cheapo). If anything I think it makes it worse. Hey ho. Might try your suggestion of "wedging myself in" with pillows Grin. Husband has basically grudgingly come to terms with the fact that the bed is now 3/4 mine for the foreseeable future anyway...

LifeIsBusy · 01/12/2020 21:32

I definitely don't have an issue with sleeping. Between our puppy and small human they only allow us so much sleep as it is so I'm not about to give up any more.

We've not bought anything yet.. Well we replaced our pram to a phil & ted explorer which is much better for where we live.

MinnieWebs · 01/12/2020 21:42

@firsttimemomtobex we’ve gone for the Ocarro.
I’m the same didn’t want to spend loads on the pillow in case it did nothing for me, I went for a U shaped one from Amazon that had good reviews and has zip off sections.
@clb8921 I’m definitely not a natural side sleeper, much prefer my back. Other than that keeping me up at night, my symptoms have been much better this trimester.
@Ttwinksy ah how exciting! I’ve also got a posterior placenta and now she’s bigger it’s nice to feel clear movements.
Yes to the hip pain though, I’m still trying to find a way to ease it, will have to give a wedge pillow a try @Rh8781

BoJingle · 01/12/2020 21:44

Oh ffs, I typed out a whole reply and lost it! Sorry for typos. I changed my phone a couple of days ago and the autocorrect hasn't caught up!

Its lovely to see more here, I wasn't sure anyone would be around looking to chat.

Someone, @MsHedgehog maybe? Asked about the Facebook group up thread. The group is fine, lots of people in it seem quite engaged and very nice but its just not my cup of tea. Its very erm, organised. There are local whatsapps, group events like yoga, antenatal classes, secret Santa's, pre defined chat topics. Like I say, works for some but I find it a bit much especially at only 20 weeks. I really hope the admins aren't reading this and taking offense, its just my opinion.

Re shopping. I've bought a myhummy and nothing else so nothing particularly essential! 😁We kept everything so I don't really have anything to buy, which as a shopper I am finding incredibly boring.

I'm jealous of those of you feeling movements outside. At my 20w scan last week the baby was laying across my stomach face down, so I think the kicks are being directed down rather than out. Which makes sense. Movements have ramped up though so hopefully we'll feel it outside soon.

Rh8781 · 02/12/2020 07:24

I’m not a natural side sleeper either - I spent ages trying to ‘train’ myself to sleep on my back instead of my tummy because of some lower back pain I was getting and now Sod’s law I can’t sleep on my back anymore!

It was the midwife who suggested wedging myself in, as well as helping with hip pain you’re sort of not totally on your side but definitely not on your back so it seems like a more comfortable compromise.

@BoJingle I get what you mean about the Facebook group. I don’t really use it anyway but sometimes you just want somewhere you can go to blurt out whatever new weird feeling you’ve been having, and hope someone has experiences the same!

LifeIsBusy · 02/12/2020 07:52

@Rh8781 I also wedge myself so im half back half hip. I can't lie totally on my hip as I wake up in pain but half and half seems to work. I normally sleep 90% stomach 10% hip which I can't get onto with a belly. Only 20 weeks to go Grin

SunnySideUp2020 · 02/12/2020 08:16

Feel you all with side sleeping. I will admit when 2am comes am exhausted my back and hips hurts from side sleeping i just go on my back. With the pregnancy pillow elevating me a little on one side.
Otherwise all night i am turning from one side to another and told DH i feel like a giant meat skewer on the bbq 😂😂

She is also kicking a lot at night which doesn't help falling back to sleep!

@MinnieWebs we bought almost everything in the BF sale. And at first i felt weird thinking we got ahead of ourselves but now it just feels like a massive relief! Our spare room has essentially become a storage room though 😊

gretagreengrapes · 02/12/2020 08:26

Hi everyone. I'm expecting my first baby, due April 16th. 😊
I had hyperemesis until about 18 weeks and I am just thankful to be feeling more human at 20 weeks now! I am still really only eating plain carbs though.
I have a very tiny bump and have felt the occasional flutters, nothing more. It was so lovely to see the baby moving around at my 20 week scan last week! So odd how they can move around so much but we don't feel it!
We made our first and only purchase in the black Friday sale but I will admit I'm still scared to buy any more just yet, waiting for Jan.
Hope you're all feeling well!

88bowie · 02/12/2020 09:21

With our first we brought items fairly early on, when sales were on and stored it all away until we ready, think we painted the nursery at 24 weeks or so. If you have the room I would say go for it and buy bits on sale, it saves so much money, even if it's just one or two items as and when u see them on sale. It also spreads the cost and if u are one to research different products can take time to decided which items you want. This time don't really need much just another breast pump which I got in the sale

BoJingle · 02/12/2020 09:43

@Rh8781 Are you a member too?

To those suffering hip pain, a physio friend suggested not just putting a pillow between my knees but my ankles too. Essentially keeping your entire top leg supported, parallel to the other leg and in a straight line from the hip. It works for me so might be worth a try.

Hello! Can i join? I am 21 weeks today, due April 14th.
I felt like death until 19 weeks, had very bad sickness too and still taking medication for that but trying to come off it and just feeling sick again!
Got my midwife appointment tomorrow and scan in the afternoon which I am super anxious about!

Parkandride · 02/12/2020 11:48

I find the FB group useful but I struggle with being due at the end of the month and seeing huge bumps and named babies and finished nurseries. I'm just hoping I actually have a baby in there still when I go for my scan. Fully accept thats my own issue though and I'm a nervous nelly so don't want to get carried away yet.
My scan is tomorrow afternoon too @bunhead34, hope they're running on time. Can you partner go with you?

blodyn91 · 02/12/2020 12:11

Heyy, so Im due a baby boy 12th of April 😄 He will be our first
I have no real bump yet, but he kicks the shit out of me most days
I used to be very active, and unfortunately have had to stop running due to pelvic pain 😭😭 but today I got to return to the swimming pool at least!
Due to move house in the New Years, so just been collecting stuff, got a cot and loads of clothes. Getting a few bits off my sister.

Who was it that does hypnobirthing? any youtube recommendations? Gutted I missed the BF deal on positive birth! Thats the course Im planning on doing/starting in January ☺️

SunnySideUp2020 · 02/12/2020 12:53

@blodyn91
For hypnobirthing am gonna do the online digital pack thing with the Positive Birth Company.
I think most people do this one!
FTM here too so can't give any youtube recommendations..

firsttimemomtobex · 02/12/2020 15:26

@MinnieWebs the Ocarro looks really similar to the one we've gone for and thankyou I'll have a look on Amazon!

I hadn't heard of hypnobirthing before but I'm definitely intrigued now I've seen so many of you mention it!

I've got the afternoon off work and been sorting through the clothes we've already bought, how many bibs and muslins do you think we'll need? 😂

Ttwinksy · 02/12/2020 16:13

@firsttimemomtobex An experienced mum friend told me you can never have too many dribble bibs or muslins...I guess the more you have the less laundry you have to do?! First timer here too, so I've no idea whether that means you get through 3 a day or 10! Minefield.

BoJingle · 02/12/2020 16:38

@firsttimemomtobex @ttwinksy See i got told that about muslins and bibs but my first wasn't sicky or dribbly so I hardly used them. I wouldn't even get through 1 a day so the idea of 10 blows my mind 😂

OP posts:
firsttimemomtobex · 02/12/2020 16:53

@Ttwinksy I'm terrible at keeping on top of my washing as it is let alone when I've got a newborn to look after so surely having more will be good? But then I have seen a few people say like @BoJingle that their babies weren't sicky and they didn't need many so I don't know 🙈 I have around 8 of each so maybe one more pack to be on the safe side 😂

Ttwinksy · 02/12/2020 16:56

@bojingle oh thats good to know!! Maybe I'll hold off on going crazy over muslins for now then...Can always buy more once he's here if he's a keen up-chuckerSmile
