Is around who's due in April 2021? How are you feeling?

I was in a thread on here in early pregnancy, dropped off when I joined the buddies Facebook group, I'm still in it but its not really for me.... I miss having a place to go to chat pregnancy though.

OP posts:

Surprise for us too (unless baby decides to be too much of an exhibitionist at the scan tomorrow).

Rh8781 · 08/12/2020 07:47

@BoJingle I suppose if they think you’re high risk they’re doing it to cover their backs. Have you got a hospital appointment between 25 and 28 weeks?

Sexnotgender · 08/12/2020 10:08

Girl here. I’m too darn nosy not to find out. Plus I really struggle with boy’s names so now I don’t have to think about it!

Smile congratulations that's lovely I struggle with boys names too!
SunnySideUp2020 · 08/12/2020 12:46

Anyone struggling with monitoring movements?

I am 23w3 and some days i feel her so strong all the time and since yesterday it is much more cushioned and not all the time.

It worries me. But never been that pregnant before so not sure what to do 😭

SunnySideUp2020 · 08/12/2020 12:46

Also i have anterior placenta which apparently can make it harder

firsttimemomtobex · 08/12/2020 12:56

Got my 20 week scan in a couple of hours and I'm getting nervous now even though I only saw him 2 weeks ago at our gender scan! @sexnotgender we were struggling with boys names too but have finally decided on one we both like and have ordered a couple of personalised bits so we can't change our minds 😂

BaaHumbugg · 08/12/2020 13:07

@firsttimemomtobex good luck, I have mine too today.

SequinCola · 08/12/2020 13:11

Hi all, OK if I join? I lurked on some of the threads a few weeks ago but also didn't want to join the facebook group!

I'm 22 + 4m due 9th April with my first and haven't found out what I'm having.

Haven't really bought anything yet - so good to hear a lot of people are also waiting for the sales!

Ttwinksy · 08/12/2020 13:53

@sunnysideup2020
I wouldn't worry too much about it at this stage, especially as you have an anterior placenta. I find the same thing in that some days he's kicking like crazy and others I notice it a lot less. What I've found is that on those days when I feel like he's not moving much, if I sit really still in the evenings or after a meal and really concentrate I find I CAN actually feel him slightly. I think its just on those days he is facing inwards towards my spine. My placenta is at the back so if yours is at the front you probably feel baby less than I do on those days that she's awkwardly positioned.

I think we're not supposed to actively monitor movements until around 28 weeks for this reason - everyone feels the movements at different stages. I've been really lucky and felt him since week 16, but I know others are only just starting to feel movements now. All normal Smile But so difficult not to worry, I know!!

Btw to others struggling with boy names - I feel your pain!!! We could've named this little one in 5 minutes flat if it was a girl... why is it sooo hard?!

Rh8781 · 08/12/2020 14:05

@SunnySideUp2020 @Ttwinksy Same here for movements! Some days he’s very noticeable (from the moment I wake up, every time I’m just sitting down, to right through the night), and other days he’s quite chill (like today; I’ve only felt a couple of dull kicks). My placenta is at the back.

I was getting quite worked up about it a week or so ago and when I messaged my midwife she said it’s absolutely normal at this stage. They’re so small compared to the space they have inside to wriggle around so it’s very easy for them to hide (he was partially under my pelvis at my 20 week scan but his legs were moving like crazy and I didn’t feel a thing)

Just like @Ttwinksy said, if you sit quiet and really concentrate you’ll probably feel him/her.

Mimba1 · 08/12/2020 17:05

@Rh8781 @Ttwinksy thank you! This is so reassuring. I'd just managed to convince myself this was normal even with posterior placenta so should be easier to feel (also felt first kicks at about 15/16wks) then had a MW appt at 22 weeks (I have more due to anxiety) and she told me I should be feeling a pattern by now. Thank you for adding to my anxiety there... Everything I've read says it's too early but most of the messages with queries are from ladies with anterior placenta so it's hard to judge - helpful to hear that you are the same. So far the pattern is that some days he moves a lot, some days he barely moves at all and he seems to stop completely if you put anything cold on him (fair enough I suppose)!

Also with everyone on boy's names. There seem to be less boys names so more chance you know an idiot with that name... We thought we'd found one we liked and then realised when combined with our last name it sounded a bit like a rude word! We've still got plenty of time thank goodness.

Rh8781 · 08/12/2020 17:21

@Mimba1 That’s what got me so stressed out - reading that I should be feeling more movement with a posterior placenta, but my midwife wasn’t concerned in the least. And I’d read somewhere that even if you feel movement once a day, that could end up being your ‘normal’. But like it’s been mentioned, plenty of time until 28 weeks and we’re supposed to start tracking movement.

We’re having problems choosing a boys name too! I’ve suggested about 20 and my husband has rejected them all. He’s probably just going to end up being called ‘Baby Boy’ for the first six months of his life at this rate! Lol!

Sexnotgender · 08/12/2020 17:24

Still stuck in hospital. I’m so bored😂

Hoping to get out tonight if scan results are clear.

LuckyFlash · 08/12/2020 17:44

The movements I’m feeling are totally random too. Super kicky today (along with a weird somersault that felt super odd!) but very calm the last two days. DH and I are playing the ‘quick, see if you can feel it before he stops’ game very unsuccessfully. He’s only felt kicks a couple of times.

Struggling with boys names too! We had the perfect girl name picked out. Boys are way harder. DH is currently vetoing my fave and a name he really likes just because a guy he works with has a nephew with the name lol! I’ll grind him down.

@Sexnotgender sorry to hear you’re still in hospital that sucks! Are you allowed visitors or are you on your own?

Sexnotgender · 08/12/2020 17:53

I’m on my own @LuckyFlash but I’m just being discharged! So happy.

I’m absolutely exhausted.

GreySkyClouds · 08/12/2020 18:04

@Ttwinksy

Oh *@greyskyclouds* poor you, sounds horrific. Sounds like could be SPD maybe? Could you ask your GP to refer you to physio if the midwife isn't being helpful? I've heard others say they've found it helpful.

Annoyingly I'm not allowed to contact the midwife AT ALL in my area, which seems weird. They just say to call the hospital if I have concerns. But I'd feel silly calling hospital for some of the questions I have!

This is so strange. Even worse than me having to text and wait3/4 days for a response. It’s so hard to know whether they’re always this crap or it’s coronavirus.

You’re right. It’s spd/pelvic pain. Managed to find a physio close by today so I have some hope that I can get an appointment soon (hopefully virtually?)

GreySkyClouds · 08/12/2020 18:06

@LeopardLover

Hi all! I'm in the FB group but miss the forum chat 😅 21 weeks, FTM, due 18th April. I'm a very light sleeper these days.

@GreySkyClouds Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that! I have pain during the night in my hips too but I'm okay walking. It's not good you're not feeling supported 😔

Xx

Nice to see you back here! Never joined the FB group so felt a bit left behind Grin
GreySkyClouds · 08/12/2020 18:08

@BoJingle

What would you all do if you were me?

My midwife wants to see me for my 25 week appointment, even though I'm a stm and the guidelines state I shouldn't be seen until 28w.

I'm also high risk this time which i think is utterly ridiculous 🙄 so aswell as midwife appointments i have hospital ones too.

I've not booked my 25w apt and I'm considering just not bothering because I honestly cba with so many appointments 🙉 If she asks me ill just tell her I forgot 😂 or should I just book it?

Does stm mean high risk? If so, you should go so they can monitor you...unless it’s for them to ask you silly questions/give silly information (ie just a friendly chat that you could have with friends or family)
GreySkyClouds · 08/12/2020 18:11

Movements: they’re sporadic here too!

Started feeling a few random movements at 16/17 weeks. Now they’re still random movements but more regularly. Almost always at 9pm when I’m sitting in bed propped up with my u shaped pillow.

SunnySideUp2020 · 08/12/2020 18:12

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences ladies!!!
Deep down i guess i knew it's just too early for pattern and she tonight she is back to her normal hard kicking!!!

BoJingle · 08/12/2020 19:00

@Rh8781 I have two hospital appointments in that period. It was the same on my last midwife appointment, I had hospital on the Fri and midwife on the Monday. Midwife did nothing because I'd been checked on the Friday.

@GreySkyClouds I'm high risk because I had late onset pre-eclampsia last time. It came after my due date, my pregnancy was textbook until 40 weeks so im not particularly worried about extra monitoring until 30+ weeks as I don't think it's necessary.

I've decided I've not going to book the midwife at 25 weeks I'm going to "forget" 🤣

Movement's are random here and have no pattern.

We're also struggling with names. DP is driving me mad. He says no to everything I suggest but has yet to come back with a suggestion of his own which is so frustrating. If he carries on being annoying I'll make a shortlist without his input

OP posts:
Ttwinksy · 08/12/2020 19:57

We've got a shortlist of 4-5 boys names and we just can't narrow it down for the life of us! Almost every day a different one floats to the top, but a few days later its sunk to the bottom of the list again...I feel like the problem is we feel a bit "meh, it'll do" about all of them without really loving any of them. Keep hoping I'll magically discover one we both love, but think I must have looked at 2000+ names by now so not hopeful Confused

blodyn91 · 08/12/2020 19:58

We have our baby boy name picked 🤭☺️ OH got his way really, I really wanted Idris, but then warmed up to his idea.

Over the past few days baby has been moving a lot less, was starting to worry, then todays he's kicked the shit out of me 😅

I've ran out of my spatone iron supplements a week back, now Im constantly knackered 🤦🏼‍♀️ ordered more today. 2nd trimester been a lot harder than 1st for me.

@GreySkyClouds what kind of pain are you in? I asked for a referral a week back as I was in agony after running, but midwife said I just needed ryo slow down 😒 So had to give up running at 20 weeks 😭 but now the same lain is sort of making an appearance when Ive been walking for ages.

clb8921 · 08/12/2020 20:00

I’m the same with boys names! We found out at our scan last week that we’re having a boy. Girls names are so much less problematic! I think we have one we both like though.
