Is around who's due in April 2021? How are you feeling?

I was in a thread on here in early pregnancy, dropped off when I joined the buddies Facebook group, I'm still in it but its not really for me.... I miss having a place to go to chat pregnancy though.

OP posts:

@Handsoffstrikesagain I'll have a look, whilst I didn't find my first labor horrific, there are a couple of things that I wish had been different. Thanks for the advice.

@88bowie I actually caught a post yesterday where people had looked into the statistics around early births and post pregnancies. Apparently the odds are in your favor unless there was a specific reason the bun stopped cooking early.

I managed to make my husband to join a free online baby care workshop with me, which he did actually watch. And we’re hoping to go to antenatal classes in a couple of months time. I don’t think he’ll enjoy them but he’ll be going!! 😂

@BaaHumbugg oh dear 😂
Do you mean he fell asleep while you were giving birth or you attempted to show him some course or book?
Hopefully the latter 😄

SunnySideUp2020 · 01/12/2020 11:25

@clb8921 mine wants to do antenatal classes to learn how to care for newborn but not sure he s ready for birth 😐

clb8921 · 01/12/2020 11:30

@SunnySideUp2020 yes exactly the same here! He’s super excited to have a baby and have the cuddles etc., but I’m not convinced he’s ready for the birth or the reality of actually caring for a baby! I think he might be in for a shock on both counts...

LifeIsBusy · 01/12/2020 11:31

@SunnySideUp2020 Are you looking to do the NHS ones or private? I didn't really find the NHS ones helpful but unsure about private. I think we just felt like everything was learned post birth. Oh we were soo clueless in those early days.

SunnySideUp2020 · 01/12/2020 13:13

@LifeIsBusy i am not in the UK, and will get private ones where i am. As the equivalent of NHS are not great i heard 😔

MsHedgehog · 01/12/2020 13:32

Hi everyone! I’m due 7 April, currently 21+6. So glad this group has been created as I wasn’t that keen to join one on Facebook!

OP - just so I know, what was the deal with the Facebook one? I’ve been in two minds about it!

I had my anomaly scan this morning and he’s a stubborn one...refused to turn around for ages!!

88bowie · 01/12/2020 13:39

@LifeIsBusy so from what I understand that is not strictly true. You do have a higher risk of another Prem if uve had one all ready but the chance decreases depending how early the baby was so for baby born before 31 weeks higher chance than baby's born 32 weeks + Will also depend on the reason found, for me was incompetent cervix so I've had a stitch placed to help xx

CheeseandWine91 · 01/12/2020 14:13

Hi Everyone!

I am very new to being active on a forum, am usually a silent observer but thought I would say hello. I am 19 weeks today with my first baby and have my 20 week scan next Friday 11th. Had a private scan at 17+5 weeks and found out we are having a baby boy Smile.

Got an anterior placenta too so haven't knowingly felt baby yet however I get bubbles and butterflies which my midwife says is movement! Can't wait to start to feel him properly!

LifeIsBusy · 01/12/2020 14:46

@88bowie Then I wish you all the best for the cooking process.

@SunnySideUp2020 Id be interested as to what kind of classes they were offering given that everything is pretty much online these days. I'm going to look into something local as well as it would be nice to meet people (even if it is virtually).

Rh8781 · 01/12/2020 16:33

Hi! I’m new to posting on the forum too but have been reading it for a while and it’s helped during the early stages. I’m 21+6 and due 7th April - it’s a boy!

This is our first baby so it’s exciting and terrifying in equal measure. I’ve been feeling some movement for the last couple of weeks and some days more so than others which is worrying but keep reminding myself the baby is still small and probably hiding!

MsHedgehog · 01/12/2020 17:10

@Rh8781 Me too!!! Due 7 April with a boy, and first baby too! How exciting!!!

MinnieWebs · 01/12/2020 17:24

Hi everyone! I’m also due 7th April with our first baby, we found out last week we’re having a girl!
Glad to find this thread Smile

Rh8781 · 01/12/2020 17:42

@MsHedgehog @MinnieWebs All for 7th! How exciting Smile Have you felt any movement yet?

MinnieWebs · 01/12/2020 17:56

@Rh8781 I’d been feeling flutters on and off since around 18 weeks but the past few days have been feeling clear kicks, DH has managed to feel a couple too which was nice. Have you?

Has anyone started to buy any bits yet?

MsHedgehog · 01/12/2020 18:16

@Rh8781 @MinnieWebs I've had flutters from around 17 weeks and then a mixture of flutters and kicks for the past 2-3 weeks. He's usually most active after we've had dinner and we're chilling on the sofa, so DH is able to feel it too.

Every now and then I get a really forceful kick (or maybe it's a punch!)

It's also so odd to see your belly moving when he's kicking!

MsHedgehog · 01/12/2020 18:20

@MinnieWebs

No, I've bought nothing yet. I'm a tad superstitious so haven't even browsed! But we think we'll start browsing soon and order the bigger bits like pram, car seat, etc in the New Year sales.

firsttimemomtobex · 01/12/2020 18:44

Hi guys! I'm due April 24th so 19+3 today, my scan is next Tuesday afternoon but we've already had a private one to find out we're having a boy! 💙
I've not felt any movement yet but it is my first so don't really know what it's meant to feel like to begin with so maybe I'm just missing it..

Rh8781 · 01/12/2020 19:05

We’ve bought a few of the big bits in the Black Friday sales but probably won’t look at doing the nursery until the new year.

@firsttimemomtobex I wasn’t sure what they were to begin with either. I seemed to get a more popping sensation than flutters, but the last week they’ve become sort of a dull kick. I only get them when I’m lying or sitting down and totally relaxed otherwise I assume they’re too light to notice.

firsttimemomtobex · 01/12/2020 19:14

@MinnieWebs we've bought loads 🙈 mainly because we've took advantage of black friday offers but our nursery furniture and travel system are on order and I got our next to me too! Also need to stop buying every item of clothing I think is cute haha!

@Rh8781I can't wait to start feeling them! I totally get that though I'm so busy at work etc I probably just don't notice it

88bowie · 01/12/2020 19:55

It's the best feeling when u know what ur looking for, early days could feel like butterfly's, popping this time it felt like something was rolling about, now 20+3 have proper kicks just wait for DH to be able to feel them, try layin on ur left side having a cold drink or some choc normally get wee ones moving

MinnieWebs · 01/12/2020 20:15

@firsttimemomtobex haha I know the feeling re baby clothes it’s the tiny hats/boots that get me! I’ve managed to control myself for now. We bought the travel system and cot in the Black Friday sale too as seemed too good a deal not to.

@Rh8781 yeah I’m going to hold off until the new year for the nursery too, though I’ve been browsing the nursery thread on here for inspiration

How are everyone’s symptoms? I struggle getting comfy at night on my side even with the pregnancy pillow

firsttimemomtobex · 01/12/2020 20:30

@MinnieWebs I haven't bought any boots yet but lots of cute Disney bits from Asda and Matalan! Which travel system did you go for? We've had the Oyster 3

I've been really lucky had no sickness all through my pregnancy (touch wood) and I'm still managing to sleep fairly okay with no pregnancy pillow but my bump isn't too big atm, which pillows are the best without spending a fortune?
