Is around who's due in April 2021? How are you feeling?

I was in a thread on here in early pregnancy, dropped off when I joined the buddies Facebook group, I'm still in it but its not really for me.... I miss having a place to go to chat pregnancy though.

OP posts:

@tinatsarina I live in Europe, gas and air is apparently mostly just used in the U.K. and not at all here - I had no idea of this before. All the birth pools are closed as part of the covid restrictions, this is also why women have to wear masks throughout labour and delivery.

tinatsarina · 21/03/2021 17:32

@Wavesandsmilesencore ah I thought it might be covid related and I never knew gas and air wasn't as common as it is here

BaaHumbugg · 21/03/2021 17:36

Where are you living @wavesandsmilesencore ? It sounds stressful! Really hope I don't have to wear a mask in labour, how would it work with gas and air!?

I also wouldn't be driving more than an hour at this stage. Last time I was actually driving home having contractions and it wasn't fun, it was only 20 mins drive though!

blodyn91 · 21/03/2021 17:52

Re driving, I've been driving an hour for work and never thought much of it 😬 Also planning to drive to my parents over easter (10 days before due date), 2 hrs away but with my OH. If I go into labour whilst there will just hope back in the car, take my TENS machine with me incase 😆
Im also having growth scans. My FH had plateaued, but on the scan baby was on 90th centile, having another scan next Friday. I quite like seeing him 🤭

You don't have to wear a mask whilst in labour here, but apparently they Covid test you on arrival... which I wish them luck with! My husband won't be tested but will have to keep a mask on.

@Handsoffstrikesagain barbaric is the word! Even in France there’s no requirement for women to wear masks during childbirth (although originally it was really insisted on). I’m in Luxembourg though and I suspect not a big enough population to create a collective voice loud enough to challenge the requirement. I’m so hoping that I go into spontaneous labour so I can spend the time at home and mask free (only 10 mins from the hospital thankfully!)
The whole situation is making me feel so homesick but sure things will be ok

Mumto3andexpectingagain · 21/03/2021 20:25

@Wavesandsmilesencore are you able to get a tens machine? It might be too late but you could consider a home birth and hire a birthing pool, that way they cant say no to a water birth and you'll have a midwife in hand too?
