@Hatepickinganame I'm sure I used to see you on threads waiting for positive tests, nice to see you here 😊

lc86 · 27/11/2020 15:48

@LRHRN oh my ❤️ she's beautiful!!

Hatepickinganame · 27/11/2020 15:57

@lc86 thanks! I did join a December thread when I first moved over here but it seemed to fizzle out I think, or I lost track of it 🤔 and then every other thread seemed so established I wasn't brave enough to jump on lol but I finally put on my big girl pants and said hi 😅 how are you getting on?

phe694 · 27/11/2020 16:20

hey girls, saw my midwife this morning in hope of having a sweep, but she wasn't able to do it as my cervix is behind her head 🙃 due today, so hopefully something starts soon 🙈

kkr168 · 27/11/2020 16:22

@LRHRN Oh my that picture is gorgeous

Welcome to @Hatepickinganame & @sandrastillstuffed

@sandrastillstuffed Braxton hicks are supposed to stop if you change position. My stomach has been having regular tightening's today but no pain, the tightening hasn't stopped when I move so assume it was contractions? I'm 1 day over now, MIL's birthday tomorrow, wonder if he'll come then, it would make her year!

sandrastillstuffed · 27/11/2020 16:40

@kkr168 I also felt mine less painful than expected, maybe we just assumed they would be worse? (they probably will be later)
I've read one can go in and out of early labor so maybe was that what I experienced...
good luck and I hope baby comes very soon!!

@Hatepickinganame thanks for taking the initiative, definitely helped me daring to finally post :D

@LRHRN I'm melting with that pic

Hatepickinganame · 27/11/2020 16:50

@sandrastillstuffed you're welcome 😊 glad I helped lol about the braxtons, I get them all the time. Was convinced she was on her way last night as they woke me at 3am and seemed to be regular-ish. Never got closer than 15mins or so though! But mine have always been really uncomfortable, now they are actually painful. Hope they are doing something
..

Thanks everyone else for the welcomes!!

LRHRN · 27/11/2020 17:17

Thanks everyone.
How is everyone who has already had their babies coping with eating?
I'm literally in tears when I try and eat a meal because the pain in my stomach is so bad like full on contractions again.
I'm managing a slice of toast.
Saw the midwife today and she said the smell of the lochia is normal and nothing to worry about keep an eye on the shaking.

Jellycat2020 · 27/11/2020 17:39

@LRHRN I can't stop eating! 🐽 I've lost quite a bit of weight since giving birth and am utterly exhausted with a very challenging baby so been told just to eat round the clock. Unfortunately, my episiotomy wound has got infected so I'm also on antibiotics 4 times a day, one hour before food so it's like a mensa puzzle trying to sort out my feeding schedule, baby's feeding schedule and our pumping schedule! Haven't had any stomach pains since mild contraction - like pains for the first 3 days or so. What did the midwife say about them? I have had night sweats and shaking though but put it down to my infection.

lc86 · 27/11/2020 17:48

@LRHRN oh no, I'm not looking forward to that smell/sight again! You definitely forget about all that!

@Hatepickinganame all good here, I'm due December 6th but booked for a c section on Friday so he will definitely be here this time next week which is scary!! What's your due date? Braxton hicks have been tricking me for weeks, I get all excited and then they just fizzle out 😩

MySafeSpace · 28/11/2020 01:07

Hey so just wanted to update that my due date was 25th Nov and after being sent home from triage early that morning at roughly 2/3cm I ended up back in just after lunch that day and baby boy (no name as yet) arrived just before 4pm. Everything bit of a blur but we are all home and trying to settle into our new sense of normal.

Thank you everyone for your help and advice getting us all this far and good luck to all those who've yet to welcome their babies

excitednerves · 28/11/2020 01:24

@LRHRN hello! I have the pains too, but when I’m breastfeeding. Literally nauseating cramps but thankfully they pass. Hasn’t stopped me eating so far though, I just have to wait until baby is fed first. Glad you’re ok, just keep an eye on any weird signs.

@Jellycat2020 it’s my first day at home today, I could go crazy eating 😂 I’m exhausted already, there’s no peace to sleep in hospital and baby has decided she’d like to be awake since we got home. The joys!

excitednerves · 28/11/2020 01:26

@MySafeSpace congratulations! That was fast! I hope you’re both settling in ok. X

MySafeSpace · 28/11/2020 01:41

@excitednerves yes it was quick, he couldn't wait to join us
Yes we are both very well thank you, he's an absolute dream and worth every sec

Jellycat2020 · 28/11/2020 03:44

@excitednerves tell me about it! Last night, she slept a dream, straight back to sleep after each feed. All today and tonight now, she's snacked so hasn't gone down full, waking quickly and grizzling. Then just when she does go to sleep, does the biggest s**t so has to be changed, which wakes her up again.... Good job we love her!

Asianchick6693 · 28/11/2020 05:11

Hey everyone, it's been a while. I never thought motherhood would be so hard. I'm enjoying the good bits but really struggling with the change of routine and lack of sleep. I don't know if I am doing right or wrong. My husband has honestly been my rock, he's helped out so much and stayed up so I can sleep etc.

@LRHRN I noticed you mentioned the shaking. I have also been having this but mine is more like crazy shivering and feeling cold. Midwife said stitches are healing nicely so doesn't seem like an infection probably just hormonal. However being this way has left me feeling really rubbish and I've spent two days in bed pretty much.

Also really struggling with breastfeeding baby. She's taken to it well. I try to pump but nothing comes out, only way it comes out is if baby is feeding which also means the other breast leaks. Can anyone give me tips on how to use the pump to get milk out?

My issue is she never seems satisfied? She feeds, falls asleep, I put her down and she wants to feed again. This makes me feel like I am non stop feeding her for hours on end. I ended up giving into using formula on occasion to satisfy her. Midwife said from the way she was drinking from my breast it sounds like I have good milk supply but why is she not satisfied? She can easily feed every 2 hours during the day but come night time she wants it every few minutes. I just feel like a machine right now as all I'm doing is feeding her. I'm so sorry for the rant guys. Really struggling right now x

Babyhope98 · 28/11/2020 06:12

Ladies that have had an induction once the pessary that you have for 24hours is in do they check to see if you are getting dilated throughout it do you wait the whole 24hrs sad I’m wasn’t dilated at all 😩 didn’t realise how long the process was 🤣

LRHRN · 28/11/2020 06:37

@MySafeSpace congratulations ❤️❤️

@excitednerves @Jellycat2020
I have the cramping when I'm breast feeding but literally if I eat more than a slice of toast the top of my stomach is in absolute bits.
My husband made an shepherds pie and I started eating it and after about a quarter of the plate I just couldn't cope with the pain and burst out crying it's horrible 😫 I'm going to speak to the docs on Monday

LRHRN · 28/11/2020 06:40

@Babyhope98 no they only check after 24hrs, I asked this cause I wasn't prepared to stay that long.
They give the pessary for 24hrs to see if it changes your cervix if not they allow another 6hrs, then 24hr break on the ward and another one inserted for 24hrs.
If your cervix is ready they will stretch and sweep and break your waters and insert a drip (mine was 2cm so avoided the pessary)

If you have the pessary hubby can't stay but the other way they can stay the whole time.
It's your due date today so you are more favourable for the latter option xx

LRHRN · 28/11/2020 06:46

@Asianchick6693 I feel your pain cause my baby is the same. Use a Hakka bottle to collect milk from your other boob.

I've purchased an electric pump and I can't begin to tell you what a god send it has been.
I feed her an expressed bottle at her last feed about 11ish (1 1/2-2oz) and she wakes for a next feed between 3-4 and I give her a bottle again before this is was the same as you on, off, on, off

This is the pump my midwives recommended, it's cheap and easy to use. I use MAM bottles and their breast pump is over £150 so I just transfer the milk into my own bottles.

It will get easier, I'm finding it a lot better than 2 days ago I just cried and cried and couldn't stop. I kept looking at my perfect beautiful little girl and questioning why I was so shit and couldn't even feed her.

loobeelou · 28/11/2020 07:23

Congratulations @MySafeSpace

Babyhope98 · 28/11/2020 08:12

My cervix was soft but not dilated so they inserted the pessary I have a long wait ahead lol. Shame they never gave me a sweep before my induction I may have dilated oh well x @LRHRN

lc86 · 28/11/2020 09:23

@LRHRN is she still feeding from your breast during the day, or bottle only? Just curious 😊

jalu47 · 28/11/2020 09:44

Re induction, a few of you have mentioned the pessary but at my hospital they use the balloon first which isn't hormonal so I can be sent home with it in to see if it works. Has anyone had the balloon? That's the plan for mine..

kkr168 · 28/11/2020 10:05

40+2 today, anyone else overdue now too? Think the majority on here have had early births.
