@peachypetite - I don't get that choice to be midwife-led unfortunately: because I've had to go into the assessment unit I have to be on the main delivery suite where they generally kick out faster. Trying to get the information about that out of the midwives is like blood out of a stone, though - they're so damn patronising about everything and won't tell you anything directly (I was incredibly insulted when the community midwife said they don't tell women that being seen for movements impacts birth choices in case they don't go in: I'm not an idiot and am angry to be treated as such - I would obviously still have gone in because you know, evidence-based risk assessment says you go in). I don't actually mind the lack of birth choice but I very much mind the lack of clear information and lack of honest communication: I genuinely don't really trust the midwives anymore.
I THINK after birth I can still leave after a few hours if all is well but they are very very vague about it all. That said I think I'll be accepting an induction at my next appointment if baby isn't going anywhere because I am emotionally completely done with all this.

@lc86 @excitednerves @Babyhope98 thank you, will enjoy my large pizza (and giant cookie dough cookie...) x

@EithneBlue nice of the midwives to keep that (kind of important!!) information from us. I was told this on my third trip due to reduced movements and as much as it upset me that I potentially wouldn't be able to have the birth I'd planned, of course I'd bloody call triage if baby's movements were reduced! Some midwives do seem to think pregnant women are idiots but luckily I've also come across some nice ones x

Good luck @excitednerves

EithneBlue · 26/11/2020 18:56

@danielasummer - To be fair I might have pissed the last one off when she said "well it says here in your Tommy's leaflet that babies should have a clearly identified pattern and placenta position does not affect perception of movement" and I replied by quoting research that indicates that whilst her leaflet was generally correct this is not always the case (and to be fair my baby does kind of have a pattern but it clearly doesn't have a 24 hour body clock so it's actually quite hard to follow) 😳

Nic2908 · 26/11/2020 19:48

@EithneBlue I'm sure that national guidance is everything went straight forward no complications, feeding established and both you and baby are ok discharge home can be after 6 hours. Obviously they may change dependent on time of day for example.of that 6 hours ends at 3am they would recommend you stay until morning. That's knowledge from work not from.being pregnant. Obviously.complications.is another ball game all together.

peachypetite · 26/11/2020 20:13

@EithneBlue that’s so frustrating. When you have your baby in your arms this is all going to be so worth it. I know you must be so fed up now. Be kind to yourself.

EithneBlue · 26/11/2020 20:17

@peachypetite - I'm definitely grumpy and hormonal right now 😂

PipTed · 26/11/2020 21:06

@EithneBlue I agree.

The question I’ve heard few times now is ‘when will you have to be induced?’ - no one is forcing me to do anything, I will decide that thanks.

The language around birth and our ‘choices’ needs to change.

MrsSmith2020 · 26/11/2020 22:10

@danielasummer I'm FTM due 16/12
Keeping gender a Surprise

Thanks for organising this post

kkr168 · 26/11/2020 22:33

Due day today, went for a long dog walk, bounced on my ball for hours & all I have to show for it is sore thighs

lc86 · 26/11/2020 22:59

@kkr168 fingers crossed something happens in the night for you 🤞🏼

MrsSmith2020 · 26/11/2020 23:54

I had a scan today.
Baby is 6lbs with 2 weeks to go.
Is that not huge? Baby had chubby cheeks. It was insane!

@kkr168 I don't mean to, but you made me laugh with your sore thighs comment. 😂
I hope things get started for you soon

peachypetite · 27/11/2020 01:44

@MrsSmith2020 I wouldn’t worry. I kept getting told my baby was big and she’s really not.

Babyhope98 · 27/11/2020 02:28

My baby measured 6lb10 at 36 weeks so I wouldn’t say so 😄 @MrsSmith2020

MrsSmith2020 · 27/11/2020 06:19

Thanks @Babyhope98 and @peachypetite

Fingers crossed then

LRHRN · 27/11/2020 06:24

@peachypetite @PipTed I've invested in a double electric pump too and it's a god send.
My baby is 5 days old and I'm getting 6oz in 5mins from both boobs. She only takes 1-2oz every 2-3hrs.
She was an angel last night. Last feed at 11.15 and she woke at 4.20am ❤️
How are your baby's doing?

Abit of a gross one, I've been really unwell during the night. Profusely sweating to the point it was like I'd stepped out of the shower and shaking uncontrollably even in my sleep. I've noticed yesterday that my lochia smells bad like gone off meat 😖 I can't remember if this is normal or not it's 9yrs since my last babe xx

peachypetite · 27/11/2020 06:39

@LRHRN that doesn’t sound normal you need to go and be seen.

excitednerves · 27/11/2020 06:53

Hello! A little update. Baby Giselle arrived safely this morning at 4am, an hour before my induction was booked! Phew! Labour was fine but the end was pretty intense. Enjoying my NHS tea and toast while my little angel snoozes. Good luck to everyone still waiting. They are definitely worth the wait. X

excitednerves · 27/11/2020 06:54

@LRHRN sounds like an infection. Give your midwife a call. Hope you feel better soon. X

loobeelou · 27/11/2020 07:16

Congratulations @excitednerves, I hope you are both doing well x

peachypetite · 27/11/2020 07:20

@LRHRN just seen you’ve also had chills and sweating. Call maternity triage and say you’re coming in it sounds like you have an infection. I had to go in a couple of nights ago too. I would call ASAP.

kkr168 · 27/11/2020 07:53

@excitednerves congratulations on your baby girl

@LRHRN defo go & get yourself checked out

Babyhope98 · 27/11/2020 08:27

danielasummer · 27/11/2020 08:32
