Good morning @footprintsintheslow...

Unfortunately hospitals in the country I'm in are beyond grim so I def don't want to stay longer than I have to, especially as my husband won't be allowed with me (and I don't speak the language), and I have a toddler who I will miss like crazy!!

Sometimes I really wish I was giving birth in the Uk...I feel like I'm always fighting the system here...but it is what it is...

footprintsintheslow · 22/11/2020 09:20

@funtimestobehad gosh that sounds awful. Have you got older children?

@pigletpie2177 do you think they'll let you go home between now and giving birth?

Skyla01 · 22/11/2020 10:33

@pigletpie2177 sorry to hear, at least you are in the right place and getting the best care. Every day baby is getting bigger & more mature. Hope you get a plan today.

pigletpie2177 · 22/11/2020 10:42

Hi all thanks for messages - I've been discharged with an antibiotic prescription for 10 days. I've had two steroid injections on the ward. Doctors have said they would like to get me to 37 weeks (New Years day in my case) but we will have weekly monitoring and play by ear. If a c section they would want to try to book in for 39 weeks. Let see how we get on.

Generally feeling much calmer and more optimistic than friday/yesterday. Thank you so much and I'll keep you updated.

Hope everyone else is feeling ok today?x

Really sorry to hear what you've been going through but glad to hear they're keeping an eye on it.
footprintsintheslow · 22/11/2020 18:33

@pigletpie2177 great that you are out.

I'm 33 weeks today and this last trimester has flown by.

Woody096 · 22/11/2020 20:07

May I join? I am due 30th January. Third baby. I have a 4yr old & a nearly 2 year old (also a Jan baby).
This pregnancy has not been as straight forward as my previous two. I have Polyhydramnios (diagnosed at 28weeks) so currently my fundal height is measuring 10 weeks ahead😳. My bump is massive. I didn’t actually get to 40 weeks with my other two as they arrived early. More growth scans this week & measuring fluid then hopefully a plan of action for delivery!

LiG123 · 22/11/2020 20:45

@Woody096 😰 I feel for you! I'm struggling measuring a few weeks ahead.
Welcome!

Skyla01 · 22/11/2020 20:56

@Woody096 oh dear that must be uncomfortable? Is there any way they can remove extra fluid?

VeeVeeBee77 · 22/11/2020 21:58

@Grumpy19

My baby is measuring 4lbs at 31 weeks according to my fundal height which is worrying me. I have been tested for GD but was negative. I have a scan on Tuesday to check growth so hoping it will say the final height is off. I have had 2 VBACs the second was fine, the first she got stuck due to shoulder dystocia which was frightening! She was only 7lbs 10 so don't want anything much bigger than that!
There's a good chance it's just off somehow. I had a fundal height measurement that said baby was very small, was booked in for a scan the next day and that came up bang on what it should be.
Woody096 · 22/11/2020 22:40

Skyla01 I am not sure. I have a growth scan followed by a consult so will see what levels are & where I go from there. From what I gather, aka searching google, reducing fluid is quite rare.

Grumpy19 · 22/11/2020 23:58

Thanks @VeeVeeBee77 really hoping Tuesday's scan brings some peace!
@Woody096 according to my height, my fundal is on the 95th percentile and it's a struggle so I really feel for you!! Good luck with your scans.
@pigletpie2177 great you are home. Fingers crossed things settle for you.

MeganC104 · 23/11/2020 14:05

Do you need cardigans for the baby if you've got sleepsuits and pramsuits. Won't they be warm enough.
I have no cardigans. Just vests, sleepsuits (babygrows) and a pramsuit

LiG123 · 23/11/2020 15:46

@MeganC104 I just have cardies for the car seat. The can't have pram suits or coats in in a car seat and I never think a blanket cuts it whilst the car is heating up

I've never heard of that but I was planning on getting a car seat blanket anyway so that be enough?

footprintsintheslow · 23/11/2020 18:22

We have a fee cardigans as sometimes it's just a bit nippy and I want an extra layer so I just do the same for the baby

WhoUsedMyName · 23/11/2020 19:21

@MeganC104 it's all changed now you can't actually take baby out of hospital in a pram suit since they found that the baby isn't strapped in car seat tight enough. But any jumper, Cardi etc is fine

MeganC104 · 23/11/2020 19:28

Oh god. I've never heard of this. I won't even bother packing one then. Our car seat is second hand and I'm really worried they're going to have an issue with it because the inserts we've got aren't the exact ones for the model but they still fit and feel secure. Can they actually prevent you from taking the baby home?

LiG123 · 23/11/2020 20:18

@MeganC104 I'd get a new car seat. If it isn't the right inserts then it isn't safe. They shouldn't let you home and I wouldn't risk it with any age child.

Hi Ladies,

Hope you are all well.

@MnM156 I've also been told the baby is measuring small. They said below the 10th percentile. At 32 weeks she was 3.4lbs. They have said they will compare the measurements at the next scan (next Thursday) and make a decision after that on steroid injections/being induced early. We seem to have had worries at every stage of this pregnancy but managed to overcome them and get this far so hoping this is the same.

Also is anyone getting really out of breath? I've been short on iron but been on supplements for that for 2 weeks but still can't make the bed and put clothes away without needing to catch my breath after.

MeganC104 · 24/11/2020 10:37

The car seat we've got is a good one. Maxi Cosi cabrio fix but I couldn't find the inserts for that one and accidentally bought the pebble inserts. I've contacted maxicosi to see if they can help

MnM156 · 24/11/2020 10:53

@198435years
That sounds like exactly my baby. And we have had concerns abt his wellbeing right from the start as well. My husband (being a sportsman that he is) was just saying last night that despite all the issues from the start 'we are still in the game' and that's something to be proud of. I love his positivity and the way he lifts me out of my gloomy mood. My scan is on Friday where they decide what to do. I am hoping that there is some growth and they push the induction to 38 weeks. When is your scan?

Onekidnoclue · 24/11/2020 10:56

@198435years I’m really breathless too. Worried someone will report me for covid symptoms 🤣🤣🤣 I’m low iron and hoping it’ll improve.

@MeganC104 I don’t think they’d stop you taking the baby home. With DS1 I was madly neurotic and made them check the car seat. They didn’t give a toss, think it’s luck of the draw though.
Maxi cosi are really good in my experience hope they get back to you but might be worth putting a hour out on Facebook or similar if they can’t help.

@MnM156 It's on the 3rd Dec. So they haven't rushed to have me back in sooner which I took as a good sign and they just said about monitoring the movements. I was a small baby at only 5lb something and my husband was just over 7lb so maybe that has something to do with it but like you I can't help thinking about other potential reasons like chromosomes. We came back as very high risk of downs in the 12 week nhs blood tests and had a private nipt test done which then showed the baby at low risk of Down's syndrome. So I worry they haven't picked up on something but I'm sure it would have been picked up on a scan at some point and they would have wanted more investigations. We've had so many scans because of many different things. Your husband is right and speaking to a few friends, measurements can differ depending on who is doing them and they have had small measurements and gone on to have healthy, cute babies. I'll be thinking of you Friday. Let us know how you get on. I'm sure your baby boy has got this. X
