@other89 welcome and I agree. I'd like my due date to get further away from Christmas not nearer.

@Poodlemum1 your experiences sound awful you just feel proud to have gotten through everything.
Also your baby sounds very big, is it off the scale? Mine is 5lb at 32 weeks and they described that as massive.

WhoUsedMyName · 21/11/2020 14:02

@PollyOaks I haven't sadly I brought a bump belt but I haven't seen a change tbh. It is so painful people really don't understand

Onekidnoclue · 21/11/2020 15:40

So pleased to have new people joining us! Welcome to everyone.
6 hours sounds very fast but tbh there isn’t any point in staying in!
I’ll need to be in for two days after mine because of the meds I’m on. I’m worried I won’t be able to take in enough stuff and two days with no visitors on a post natal ward sounds dire. Oh well we get what we get!

My baby is measuring 4lbs at 31 weeks according to my fundal height which is worrying me. I have been tested for GD but was negative. I have a scan on Tuesday to check growth so hoping it will say the final height is off.
I have had 2 VBACs the second was fine, the first she got stuck due to shoulder dystocia which was frightening! She was only 7lbs 10 so don't want anything much bigger than that!

Hello, I measured big fundal height at 31 weeks. Growth scan the following week put me at 3lb 11 which is bam smack in the middle of where he needs to be so I think fundal height can be a little off
LiG123 · 21/11/2020 18:44

@Poodlemum1 this is the thing you can't predict the outcome. I'm on a vbac fb group and the success rate does seem high.

I hated my c section so desperate!

Skyla01 · 21/11/2020 18:46

I was also measuring big on fundal height. Getting checked again in a week so hoping it's back nearer to average. I know it isn't very accurate but would rather avoid extra growth scan / diabetes test if I can.

Starting to feel pretty tired which is frustrating, can only manage about a quarter of my usual day without ending up exhausted! I keep trying to do too much, but i hate sitting aroubd doing nothing all day. Might start packing bags sooner rather than later as I imagine my energy is only going to dwindle further.

Poodlemum1 · 21/11/2020 18:54

@footprintsintheslow yea he is measuring off the scale . I’m hoping he doesn’t grow to much more in the next three weeks 😬

@LiG123 yea that’s why I said my personal opinion I would have had a section again.
But I do know a lot of people who have had success and the recovery rate is much better .
Unfortunately with this my third baby I don’t have a choice and have to have a cesarean.

pigletpie2177 · 21/11/2020 19:31

Hi all, I think I was on a previous board but not very active. Fairly uneventful pregnancy until yesterday so not much to say!

Had my normal 31wk appt with midwife yesterday morning and told her I was worried i was leaking. She said to monitor with a pad but hopefully just pregnancy discharge. Made me a growth scan appt for the afternoon as bump was big. Got home and realised I was bleeding so phoned triage and had to come to hospital where they did internal exam and said I have a cervical erosion (ectropion?) and also had thrush so they said probably that was my discharge even though I said it wasn’t what I’d previously seen. They did a test for amniotic fluid but it came back negative. I then went for the scan which showed waters were 5th centile. Given history they booked another scan for next Friday but the nurse phoned me today saying she couldn’t stop thinking about it and could she re-run the test today. Today I tested positive for amniotic fluid.

They did a scan to check baby was head down in case I go into labour but apparently my cervix isn’t dilated so fingers crossed I won’t. Just torn between wanting baby out in case of infection and desperately wanting to keep them in as long as possible.

So my heads pretty battered right now and I could do with a handhold, assuming anyone got this far 🙈

WhoUsedMyName · 21/11/2020 20:16

@pigletpie2177 oh wow you poor thing I hope your ok, I really don't no much about it but at least the nurses are on board and will be able to help you. I probs would have put it down to peeing myself! So lucky you knew you weren't going mad. So what's the next step?

Grumpy19 · 21/11/2020 20:25

Thanks @LiG123, I'm hoping things look better after Tuesday's scan! Re VBAC, I am so happy I had mine and would hate to have another c-section.

@Skyla01 I hope the fundal height thing is just out for you too! I'm under 5ft myself and the thought of a big baby does scare me! I'm going to mention my fear of shoulder dystocia again to the consultant.

@pigletpie2177, hope you are ok! What a shock! Lots of positive thinking and fingers crossed for you that things settle! X

pigletpie2177 · 21/11/2020 20:53

Thanks @WhoUsedMyName and @Grumpy19 - bit of a rollercoaster but at least they are clearly bothered (hence today's call) and I'll be really closely monitored now. Seems they will be looking for the precise time when the risk of being out is less than the risk of being in - judging baby and water to time it right. I'd talked about a vbac but if this all means that goes out the window then so be it. Hopefully I can go home with my antibiotics tomorrow and then just keep monitoring everything.

WhoUsedMyName · 21/11/2020 20:58

Are you in a position to put your feet up at home or do you have young dc or work?

Onekidnoclue · 21/11/2020 21:37

@pigletpie2177 how are you feeling? Sounds horribly stressful. How many weeks are you now?

LiG123 · 21/11/2020 21:45

@pigletpie2177 how I'm glad you followed your instinct. Hand Hold here xx

WhoUsedMyName · 21/11/2020 22:10

I've just eaten half a tub of ice cream 😳

LiG123 · 21/11/2020 22:12

@Grumpy19 good to know Your vbac experience! 🤞🏼

pigletpie2177 · 21/11/2020 22:17

@WhoUsedMyName I'm a lawyer so can be stressful but been wfh through COVID and planned to work to week before due date on that basis - basically a desk job right now though normally I travel round the country a bit. Have a toddler so can't totally relax but can persuade him to snuggle for the right dinosaur film ☺️ icecream sounds good!

@Onekidnoclue I'm 31+1 today. Been talk of getting me to 34 but that might have been a general comment. I'll see a consultant tomorrow so should have a better idea. Fingers crossed I can bake this baby a bit longer yet!

Thanks @LiG123 - really grateful to the nurse who called me back in too - she said she couldn't get it out of her that she needed to retest me. Thank goodness she did!

WhoUsedMyName · 21/11/2020 22:20

Oh wow a lawyer that's amazing and carrying on with toddler! Mine are all abit older so they are at school all day and I'm on AL.

funtimestobehad · 21/11/2020 22:30

I would love to join too!! I'm due with my second on the 17th of Jan..

I don't live in the Uk (although I'm from there), and super nervous about giving birth here as the COVID rules in the hospital are insane!! Hoping to have a smooth birth so I can discharge myself early (they like to keep you in for a minimum of 3 days here after a straightforward vaginal birth and are pretty forceful).

I'm finding this thread incredibly helpful as I can't think what I need to pack in my hospital bag etc...feel like I am so disorganised this time around ..

ttcchapter1 · 21/11/2020 22:52

Hi, anyone else have an achy bump around 31 weeks?

Frafalconi · 21/11/2020 23:57

@pigletpie2177: I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

pigletpie2177 · 22/11/2020 00:40

@Frafalconi thanks very much. I can't switch My thought off tonight so still awake despite feeling like I've been run over but all obs looking good so can't ask for more than that.

@WhoUsedMyName he's 3.5 so at preschool 4d a week so not that impressive but the first lockdown was interesting. Lots of conferences with him on my knee/hitting me with toys/sticking his hand down my top but fortunately everyone very understanding ☺️

Currently sitting up in hospital bed with bloody awful indigestion/heartburn/acid reflux. I won't miss this bit!!

footprintsintheslow · 22/11/2020 07:29

@WhoUsedMyName I inhaled a whole bag of M and S marshmallows yesterday.

@funtimestobehad welcome along. Glad you found us. Do you have other children to get home to? I'd love to stay in hospital for a few days but I have to get back to a toddler.

@pigletpie2177 are you managing to get sleep in hospital? And are you missing your eldest whilst enjoying a bit of a break at the same time?

pigletpie2177 · 22/11/2020 08:47

morning @footprintsintheslow - fairly rubbish night between my brain whirring and heartburn - finally got to sleep about 4am and was awake by 6am. Another needle in the bum cheek at 6.30am but needs must! I've missed my toddler loads but fortunately he has been with grandparents and so hasn't missed me ☺️ I'm sure I will get a lovely welcome though.

Hope you're ok!
