I've tested positive 😫

SmileyT · 05/11/2020 22:42

@Workingmama1 @Sakura54 thanks both for saying that... just checked the NHS website and definitely says it should be at 25weeks so will call tomorrow and ask them to move it, because otherwise in theory I should have another one a week later at 28weeks which seems silly. X

@DanceM1 yep I'm a leaky moo too, tmi but I wake up with patches on my sheets 😂 strangely when I'm talking about baby it seems to happen more 🙈

@Hopefulmummie some of these midwives are probably old school and don't understand about early testing, maybe never seen a referral through before period date as think loads of people probably don't refer until like CD35 but glad they got you sorted. I think it will definitely help you enjoy Xmas if you've seen little one on a private scan. With CB they just say add 2weeks on so if you're 4w1 it should be 2-3 so it's showing just right👌🏾

@Starfish762 congrats on another lovely scan x

@SkyBlue20 ahh well at least you've ordered it, so exciting 🥰 and I'm sure that my little one actually runs away from OHs bellowing voice so not sure he should take it as a compliment. I've also been feeling exhausted and so distracted at work today so guessing body is working hard 😴

@Sakura54 definitely just had to google what a grow chart was (clueless FTM here) but yeah will definitely be interesting to see. And yeah my mum said the same her biggest baby was just over 5lbs but she is tiny so said it kinda made sense her babies would also be small 🤷🏾‍♀️

@DanceM1 ahh I'm sorry you've tested positive, try not to stress and just look after yourself xx

SkyBlue20 · 05/11/2020 22:44

Oh no, @DanceM1! How’re you feeling? How long do you have to isolate for? Have they given you any advice in regards to the pregnancy?

@RosieJess91 Hope your step son’s op went well. Sounds really stressful about your son, I really don’t know what to advise but am sending love.

DanceM1 · 05/11/2020 22:54

@smileyT thank you. I cant stop worrying.

@skyblue20 I literally just got an email saying it was positive so going to phone the midwives tomorrow and ask for help/reassurance. I just really really don't want this to harm baby. I can't stop worrying about it.

Pugprincess · 06/11/2020 06:27

@DanceM1 oh no bless you, keep us informed, I’m sure all will be ok but I can imagine how worried you are.

@SkyBlue20 so happy you are feeling some definite movements😊

@Sakura54 great news about being discharged, hopefully this baby will stay put until due xxx

Hope everyone else is good too xx

I’m still feeling things, DH has felt it too which was lovely. 17 weeks tomorrow. Is anyone aware of hospitals changing rules on partners? Or is it staying the same? Worried for my 20 week scan xx

Starfish762 · 06/11/2020 06:30

@DanceM1 oh no! If it helps ease your mind, my friend had it recently who was 17 weeks pregnant, had her 20 week scan & baby was absolutely fine (usually with anything it’s us who suffer & the baby is surprisingly protected, hence how even people with severe sickness (HG) the baby is fine). She felt rotten with it so was stuck in bed a couple of weeks & lost her sense of taste/smell, but I know a few people who’ve had it & were really well, FX it’s the latter for you.

@RosieJess91 hope your step son’s op went okay.

Can anyone help with pregnancy pillows, please? The bbhugme on amazon is £138?! 😱 I don’t mind investing around £60 but that seems crazy, surely it can’t be that much better than the others?

Pugprincess · 06/11/2020 07:23

@Starfish762 I got the tommee tipee one from Argos for £50. Bet you can still order online. I like it. It’s long, take a look on their site as lots of pics with ladies using it to give you an idea of size. X

SkyBlue20 · 06/11/2020 10:10

@DanceM1 I'm sure baby will be absolutely fine - they seem to take everything they need from you to protect themselves, but definitely speak to the midwife and see what she suggests. Hope you're ok, must be such a worry. xx

@Starfish762 I got the Pharmadoc C pillow from Amazon, which I LOVE, it's so comfy. It was only £50 - I too couldn't bring myself to spend more than that on one before I even knew if I'd like using it. The only thing with it is that I think I should have got a U shape one as I like the long bit behind my back to stop me rolling over but then that means no belly support at the front, which isn't too bad at the mo but can imagine I'd like it as I get bigger.

Happy Friday everyone! This weekend can't come quickly enough!

RosieJess91 · 06/11/2020 10:28

Step son's ok was fine, he won't be able to walk for a long time, so we won't know how that will go for a while, but they've said everything looks normal.

Hope you're okay @dancem1!

DanceM1 · 06/11/2020 10:32

Thanks all! I called the midwife and she said she thinks they are now doing extra checks for women who have tested positive.. so they may scan me for example after the isolation period. This makes me worry because I think, if baby is protected in there, why do I need extra checks?! But if I think rationally I know its probably a good thing and realise they are still learning how to deal with it. Just waiting for antenatal clinic to call back. Really hope all is OK. Ive also contacted the doctor to check how much is too much when taking my inhaler etc with baby.

Threnody · 06/11/2020 11:25

@DanceM1 I'm sorry you tested positive. Hope you're feeling ok. I'm sure baby will be fine. The extra scan will be just because it's a new virus and they don't really know what it does - but all the evidence I've read about so far suggests it is fine.

@RosieJess91 that's good news.

@Starfish762 I just bought a cheap one from online4baby back in 2014 - still love it. It was a deal with a curved pillow and a wedge, they don't do the same one anymore, but it was a bit like this: www.online4baby.com/puggle-6-in-1-nursing-pregnancy-pillowcushion-wedge-2pc-support-pack-natural

Poppy10121 · 06/11/2020 12:20

@DanceM1 So sorry about the positive test, hope you feel OK! My doctor told me that they don't class pregnant women in a higher risk anymore because there is no evidence that it's caused harm to babies so I'm sure the additional scan is just for reassurance, but completely understand the worry!

@Starfish762 I just bought a cheap pillow off Amazon - like this one and it's working well for me at the moment, it can be used straight as a long sausage or bent round into a triangle for support when sitting up in bed, which I use quite a lot as well!

ew1990 · 06/11/2020 12:24

@dancem1 sorry you tested positive. Praying you don't get really ill with it 💗

I slept in till 11, didn't wake up once, must have needed it my sleep has been rubbish lately.

You can see movements on the outside of my belly now, I forgot how bizzare it is. But like DD as soon as DP goes to feel she stops 🙈🙈

Going to have a catch up now. X

Sakura54 · 06/11/2020 13:32

@DanceM1 No way! Sorry to hear that. I’m sure baby will be fine. There’s no evidence saying otherwise. That’s good they will monitor you. One positive way to look at it is that you’ve caught it now rather than when you’re in labour. I saw women and partners coming in to get tested the day before their c sections. Would be crazy to have it when baby is due!

@SmileyT Ah I assumed most of us had our customised Grow Charts by now? Hmm guess not if you’ve had phone appts only. Got mine at 16w so I’ll show you when they start plotting measurements.

@ew1990 My belly jumps around all over the place sometimes which is weird to see and feel, even though we’ve had kids before and remember ages ago I posted a pic of my bump looking big on one side? That still happens a lot on that side and I forgot to ask at my scan the other day if baby was limited to that side or something lol.

@RosieJess91 Apparently there’s a lanyard that you can wear if you are exempt from masks. I actually used to wear masks more from back when this first started, even when going on long walks in hot weather, which makes it much more tiring, so got used to it quickly and can wear it for hours even though it’s a full on big cloth one. Just explaining that to say it can be hard for people to understand why others don’t wear one for even 5 mins when they don’t know how it feels to have asthma etc hence all the looks. Maybe think about a lanyard to lessen the awkwardness?

bubblybon20 · 06/11/2020 14:11

@DanceM1 ah how awful that you've tested positive! Hopefully it doesn't get too bad, and like others have said I can't imagine it'll harm baby! 💗💗

@ew1990 its crazy all the jolting and movements now isn't it?! Makes me feel funny! 🤣

Has anyone brought much yet? X

Lollol86 · 06/11/2020 15:40

@DanceM1 bless you, I'm so worried about catching it as I'm also asthmatic. Can the doctor give you steroids to help your chest? Xx

DanceM1 · 06/11/2020 17:21

Hi ladies. Thanks so much for all your lovely messages. Im feeling really rotten but just thankful (touch wood!!) I dont feel like I need extra medical help in hospital or anything like that.

I spoke to the doctor who basically just warned me not to take my inhaler too much as it will make my heart rate increase. He said to get back in touch again though if I needed more help managing my asthma.

The head of the antenatal clinic just called and was really lovely. They are referring me to a consultant in about 3 weeks time once I'm hopefully recovered. Things like that always worry me but I guess if I had another health problem, I would be under a consultant as a precaution anyway!

I've still been feeling baby wriggle about a bit today which is always really comforting. I just can't believe I've caught this thing! I've been so bloody careful! Suppose it just shows how contagious it is doesn't it!!

Lu93 · 06/11/2020 17:30

So sorry to hear that you're now feeling rotten with it @DanceM1 hope you feel better soon, at least the hospital seems to be on it with keeping you monitored, that's something at least. Hope everyone else is doing okay xx

Bellabubble · 06/11/2020 18:43

I’m place marking too - finally re found the thread after I stopped getting any mumsnet emails! I have an esrly scan booked for tomorrow that will hopefully show I am 8+4..am 50/50 with excitement and anxiety about it all!

Starfish762 · 06/11/2020 22:36

Ladies please help me! Was sitting on sofa half hour ago & felt like I’d wet myself, blood everywhere! Rushed to toilet & loads came out, including a small clot (maybe 1p size). Cramps on & off but only for a few seconds, bleeding has stopped now. Rang out of hours EPU & they said to monitor it over the next few hours & if I fill a pad every 30-60 mins then go to A&E, if not ring EPU tomorrow. I can’t believe this is happening again, especially after a successful scan yesterday 😭

Ladies who had bleeding but everything was ok - when did you have it? What was it like? Assume they would’ve picked up a hematoma on the scan so not that. Just trying to keep a bit of hope 😢

Starfish762 · 06/11/2020 22:37

I’m 9+6

Smilingdonkey · 06/11/2020 22:42

Oh @starfish762 how frightening. I have had several friends who bled throughout their first trimester and were fine. Don't panic. Get yourself seen as soon as possible tomorrow and hopefully you will be able to put your mind at rest xxx

Starfish762 · 06/11/2020 22:45

It’s the cramps that are frightening me the most I think. I’m trying to be positive but I’m terrified 😭 It was such a gush too it just doesn’t seem good. Hopefully the 2 ladies on here who’ve had bleeding can share some insight.

SkyBlue20 · 06/11/2020 23:45

Sending love, @Starfish762. It sounds like a positive sign that the bleeding has stopped. I too have friends who bled for seemingly absolutely no reason throughout their pregnancies and now have hyperactive toddlers, so it’s not always a bad sign. Try and sleep and get yourself checked out tomorrow. Massive hugs to you, I know how terrifying it is. Xxxx

ew1990 · 06/11/2020 23:53

@starfish at 9+1 I had a gush of blood. The day after a scan too. There Was quite a lot. I had another scan like 4 days later and every thing was fine. That's my experience. I was crying and remember posting on this thread.

I had a bleed like this too around the same time with DD.

Sending you lots of love
