@Bluebell2020 that must have been quite the shock, how you feeling today?

It's tricky isn't it!
I read the stuff from lullaby trust but equally all my mom friends swear by it. It does get super confusing. I'm scandi and my husband suprised me with a scandi baby box so the little one does have a cardboard box with some sheets and a mattress for safe sleeping downstairs. That could be an option and see how he gets on with it before investing in other solutions.

Is anyone else constantly hungry these days?

peachypetite · 10/10/2020 09:00

@december2020 yes, ravenous. Baby is ramping up growth according to what I’ve read online so trying to not feel bad!

Awkes · 10/10/2020 09:10

@Bluebell2020 glad you’re being well looked after! 3lb is still a reasonable weight and I’m assuming everything but the weight will still be developing as normal?

@december2020 yes to the eating! I’m amazed my bump is still quite tidy because I feel like I should be a blob at this point

Currently sat on a train as going to my SIL baby shower. Amazed it’s going ahead tbh. She’s not due til mid jan so having it quite early. Mines been reduced to just my immediate family and more of a family lunch than an actual shower really. Feel a bit jealous really, is that awful? I’ve not seen my closest friend since I got pregnant due to covid and it’s gutting to think she won’t see my belly or meet my daughter for potentially quite a long time

@december2020 Thank you! Fingers crossed she can stay in for a bit longer 🤞🏻

@Confused107 they've told me to be super cautious with watching movements which is so hard as baby doesn't have a pattern and generally doesn't move loads. Just adds even more pressure doesn't it!

I'm also hungry alllll the time!

@peachypetite Definitely a shock. Especially because this pregnancy started off as low risk. I'm 25 with pre pregnancy BMI of 19.5 and no other health conditions at all, non smoker, non drinker so was constantly told I was a very low risk pregnancy. It just goes to show you never know and the extra check ups and appointments are really really important.

Also just to add to everyone's posts we've got the chicco next to me for upstairs, Inovi Cocoon cot for downstairs (we have a cat and 3 dogs so the mesh will keep the cat out and the dogs toys form landing in the cot!) and also gone for the Uppababy Vista V2 which has the safe sleeping carry cot :)

@Awkes Hopefully. All her measurements are just small but they've said at the minute there's good blood flow to her brain. She's got quite small legs (Me and the husband are 5 foot 10 and 5 foot 11 so not very small ourselves!). I keep thinking that 3lbs and 33 weeks really isn't bad and babies survive being born much earlier and much smaller x

jalu47 · 10/10/2020 10:10

@awkes I can really sympathise re the lack of contact with friends, it's so hard. I've come up to Derbyshire from London to see my in-laws for the week and had planned to see my best mate in Yorkshire tomorrow but have just cancelled as it just seems too risky now, she has kids in nursery and is still working in various locations. It's gutting as she won't see me pregnant either 😕

Baby showers aren't really my thing although I would have liked a nice day out and lunch with my mum and sister!

@Bluebell2020 lots of hugs lovely! It just means you'll get to meet your little one sooner, that's super exciting. You're also right about babies being born small and earlier and being fine, best to stay positive. How are you feeling otherwise?

Has anyone any experience or heard anyone's experience of the maxi cosi iora bedside crib? I just love the design of it and I think that's what I'm going for, also their bouncer to match. They both look very simplistic but just fell in love with the design.

Thank god it's not only me!
I'm starting to adopt a Hobbit's eating schedule with second breakfast, elevenses and evening snacks. Catchphrase of the month is "I could eat".

@Bluebell2020 I had growth scan 30 weeks baby currently weighing 3lb 10 ounces was told normal and is where he ment to be I'm 5ft oh 5.7 I just reckon we will have between 6 and 7 pounders at least they keeping n eye in u which is great I'm 42 was overweight before pregnancy I'm classed as high risk but have just been left only seen midwife once and consultant twice they now have made quite a few appointments for me now though well I say quite a few I think like 2or 3 was told I wont be going over due date as it higher risk of still birth and that they will probably want to give me a sweep before my due date to see if labour comes on

@Bluebell2020 glad they are keeping an eye on you and will monitor you more closely now. Totally understand it's a worrying time but we will all be sending positive thoughts for your baby's safe arrival.

I'm in central Scotland so baby showers etc are not allowed. As things stand our parents won't even be able to come to our house when the baby arrives to meet her! I'm really angry about that.

My lovely friends have organised a virtual baby shower for me tonight at 7pm on zoom and have sent me an M&S hamper, cakes from the best bakery in town, a bottle of non-alcoholic fizz and my 'party pack' with games etc in it for later.

They really have pulled out the stops to try and make it special and fun given all the restrictions just now. Would obviously much rather have seen then in person but I'm sure we'll have a ball over Zoom later x

No baby shower here either, though it's not really my thing anyway. Like a lot of you have said, it would have been nice to see friends though as many haven't, and won't, see me pregnant! My sister did send me a 'mummy survival' gift box the other day which made me cry!

Hi everyone sorry just to pop in again! But in early pregnancy did people get awful headaches everyday and migraines ? Xx

Report
peachypetite · 10/10/2020 20:21

@Starrr123 I suffered badly with headaches. I didn’t want to take paracetamol so just used to go for naps with cold flannel on my head.

@peachypetite thanks for replying !
Did u get them for everyday? Xxx

@Bluebell2020 sending lots of hugs! Glad you’re being monitored though and better they err on the side of caution than to not bother!

@december2020 I’m constantly hungry at the moment!! @Babyhope98 I keep having two breakfasts and still think after “what else can I eat?!”

I don’t mind not having a baby shower as had quite a big one for my first and just felt fat and uncomfortable and totally fed up with talking to people in the end! But I am sad I can’t have something small with close friends!

Anyone else kind of happy that they can say no visitors to certain people (some undesirable family members for me) when their bubbas are born?! Might just be me!

Report
LookForTheGood · 10/10/2020 20:28

@Starrr123 I had major headaches in first trimester. Sometimes paracetamol did nothing! Maybe try to drink plenty of water. It did eventually stop but if you’re concerned you can always contact your GP or midwife 🙂

peachypetite · 10/10/2020 20:31

@Starrr123 yes and when I looked into it it seemed to be down to the hormone surge. You could order some 4head and some cool gel sheets for natural remedies. Especially at the weekend I remember getting up, having something to eat and then going back to bed for several hours to lie down in a dark room and sleep it off. Also drink LOADS of water.

Well when i didnt know i was first pregnant u had them everyday and thought something was wrong with me. And now i know i think maybe i shouldnt worry? Xx

Report
peachypetite · 10/10/2020 20:32

@LookForTheGood I really want to get to grips with breastfeeding and feel it will be much easier to do that without a steady stream of visitors.

@Starrr123 congrats, it’s shit the first trimester. But just take each day as it comes. And even now most of us in our third are struggling with various aches and pains I think the majority of us would agree the headaches, sickness and nausea of the first were much harder to bear!
