@peachypetite yes it will be nice to breastfeed knowing there won’t be lots of interruptions. It’s also really exhausting getting to grips having a newborn in the house and on top of that people coming to visit! With my first I wish I had put my foot down and told people to give us at least a couple of weeks. I don’t mind close family and MIL as I know they’ll actually come over to help!

@Starrr123 yes nothing to worry about. Drink lots of water and rest as much as you can. And no ibuprofen 🙂

LookForTheGood · 10/10/2020 20:41

Yes I second everything @peachypetite is saying! ☺️

december2020 · 10/10/2020 21:20

Ah those are wonderful baby gifts! We were hoping just to have a Halloween party as a baby shower but that out now!

@LookForTheGood yess! This is me!! I'm really trying to stop myself this evening from going into the kitchen to scavenge in what I could eat next!

@Starrr123 I have early pregnancy headaches and mild migraines - usually lasted 24-48 hours at.a time. Was super useless those days as didn't want to take any meds but water and sleep is your best friend!

I've been really useless today - but did end up buying a nursery rug online - such an essential purchase 🙄

Kj1010 · 10/10/2020 22:01

Cant say I have had to many bad things happen this pregnancy so far and fingers crossed I dont in last 9 weeks lol today I got all my pram bundle out to check all is there and ok and yes its there and great cant wait to set it all up now quite impressed with the travel cot even the mattress is great quality so baby will be in that wen old enough till he goes in a bed I have felt starving all day today but have been good and not over eating my mate wanted to do me a baby shower but I said no as never had any with my others well I bet she glad I said no now as u cant lol

excitednerves · 10/10/2020 22:01

@Bluebell2020 I’m exactly the same, baby dropped centile between weeks 28 and 32, also 3lb now so I’m back in 3 weeks and on the watch for movements.

My first was born at 33 weeks, although I’m hoping to go longer with this one, and although it’s a tough start, he’s the most amazing little boy.

I don’t know what happens if baby drops below 10th centile at the next scan though? Do they induce early?

excitednerves · 10/10/2020 22:05

Ah, it was actually @confused107 who is in the same situation as me. They e not said anything is wrong as yet but I am worried what happens if growth doesn’t pick up at the next scan.

Awkes · 10/10/2020 22:09

@Bluebell2020 I think it’s really positive that you’re still able to keep “cooking”. Hopefully you can help her gain the weight once she’s out in the world but I just think of all those premie babies who are now perfectly healthy people. My MIL was 3lb at birth and is now the biggest of her siblings and she was born 40+ years ago so things will be much better now.

It was nice at the baby shower today. I still felt a bit gutted i won’t be able to have the same thing as in be surrounded by all my friends but I agree it is what it is. I’m really not one for parties either just think it’s because it’s been a huge year for me (married and first baby).

confused107 · 10/10/2020 23:37

Hi @excitednerves sounds exactly the same as me, though this was my first growth scan. It was the midwife who measured me at 29 weeks and said that she hadn't grown as much as expected when she measured me at 32 weeks. She also admitted that it's notoriously difficult to get that first measurement right so it may have even been an error and told me to keep an eye on movement but not to worry at this stage. The consultant I saw said that it all looked ok yesterday as baby is within the lines, and had progressed in a nice line following the midwifes last measurement, but like you I'm back in three weeks to check its still going in the right direction. No mention of what would happen if it doesn't. I imagine more monitoring/ checking for underlying reason why and possibly early delivery. I'm small (5 foot 3) and was only 5.4 born so hopefully she is just going to be small too. I've decided not to worry unless there are issues with movement or I'm told to worry, just because it's probably better for me and the baby that way. I know it's easier said than done though

excitednerves · 11/10/2020 06:49

That’s such a good attitude @confused107. I’m trying not to worry. All we can do is keep an eye on movements I guess for now. I can’t help wondering if this is why DS1 was early but nobody will ever know I guess.

My bag is packed and ready to go whatever happens!

Fingers crossed for both of us @confused107 (and you too @Bluebell2020)

PipTed · 11/10/2020 06:52

Hey all - having increasing sleep issues these days, as in not being able to and painful hips (pillow helps for a bit but eventually I have to toss and turn).

I’ve been throwing up a lot too. I think it’s a mix of just constantly feeling too full and heartburn.

I’m really concerned with how little I am eating, especially since I’ve been throwing up. I can only stomach lunch (usually porridge) and evening meal. But if I have a larger lunch I can’t face anything for the rest of the day. Anyone else the same?

Hoping it doesn’t affect baby’s growth as I was measured small, and last measurement was just under average but on track.

@excitednerves @confused107 hoping your next check ups go well! @Bluebell2020 aww you’ll meet your baby soon!!! How exciting! Fingers crossed everything is looking good at your next appointment! X

excitednerves · 11/10/2020 07:12

@PipTed same here although sleeping is less to do with me and more to do with DS teething, then having a stomach bug for the last 2 days.

I finally accepted that gaviscon wasn’t enough for the heartburn any more and got some omeprazole which has been brilliant. I’m sleeping so much better when I do get a chance to sleep. A pregnancy pillow definitely helps too - but I’m knackered!

My diet has been poor just because I’m tired. Lots of chocolate 🙈 poor baby is going to have a sweet tooth! I hope you find some relief soon. Maybe try grazing rather than proper meals? Little and often so you don’t get too full?

peachypetite · 11/10/2020 08:15

@Starrr123 33 weeks tomorrow! I have found the pregnancy has gone faster since my 20 week scan, think it’s because I’ve been less anxious.

My goodness turning over in the middle of the night is so painful now. And still 7 weeks to go Shock
@PipTed sorry to hear that. I would just graze on small plates and forget the concept of breakfast, lunch and dinner. Hopefully will be easier for your body to digest.

PipTed · 11/10/2020 09:03

Yeah, @excitednerves and @peachypetite I think that’s what I’m going to have to do, just have mini meals at regular intervals. Thank you.

Starrr123 · 11/10/2020 09:04

@peachypetite aww congratulations! :) not long now for you! How exciting! Xx

kkr168 · 11/10/2020 20:15

I know a few on here have been suffering with pregnancy related carpel tunnel, like myself, have you found anything that helps? I've been sleeping with a wrist splint which was helping, but the last 2 days I've woken during the night in agony.

Another new symptom I've had is extremely sore nipples when they get cold, it's literally excruciatingly painful & takes forever to ease off.
Isn't pregnancy just wonderful!

Bluebell2020 · 12/10/2020 15:49

Just catching up 🙈🙈🙈

@Asianchick6693 Thank you! Apart from the worry I feel fine. I've been getting more headaches but BP is fine so I think that's more to do with stress. Just need to sort out finishing work now as I'm not suppose to finish until 39 weeks 🙈

@kj1010 good that your baby is measuring normal size and you have some more appointments now.

@NaomiB79 I know how you feel about lockdown! I've been in a local lockdown for what seems like forever (greater Manchester) so we've had no household mixing for some time. I have to be honest I've still been seeing my immediate family against the rules. Not seen my friends in so long though and most haven't see me while I've been pregnant!

@LookForTheGood Thank you! I'm definitely very greatfull that they've picked it up and they're monitoring us so closely!

@Excitednerves Hope your growth scan goes well. I think it is different in different trusts but because my little one is no longer following the 3rd centile curve they've said I'm in for a scan once per week and basically we just have to see what each scan says. They will induce at 37 weeks if she manages to make it that far but won't leave her in longer. I think for me it's because they've found some issues with the placenta. Might be different for someone will normal placenta etc.

@Awkes Exactly! There's so much they can do now and I'm happy and so greatfull that we've made it this far. Hopefully she'll decide she can stay a little longer in there but if not then she will be in the best place to grow and get healthy!

@PipTed Definitely exciting.. and terrifying!! Trying to focus on being excited. Also I wish I felt like that! I can't stop eating 🙈 Even though it makes me feel really sick due to reflux I still carry on!!! If it makes you feel any better though I've been told that baby takes their nutrition and what they need first and then you so having less food shouldn't impact on baby. Everyone keeps telling me to eat more to make baby grow .... if only it actually worked that way!

Nic2908 · 12/10/2020 16:13

Guya I'm having a little moment regarding baby clothes and feeling slightly overwhelmed. FTM so everything is new to me. I'm planning on washing all the clothes for the baby. Majority of which is upto one month. So I have a range of sizes from 8-10lb then I have a pack of newborn vests and 3 baby grows in newborn (upto 7lb8 i think) i have nothing in 0-3 months. I'm worrying that I have bought all the wrong sizes. Can someone shine some light on baby clothing and what I should do??

Bluebell2020 · 12/10/2020 16:27

@Nic2908 I've had this issue over and over again... and now that I know I'm having a tiny baby I need to re-pack again with smaller clothes 🙊

My sister in law had her first baby a few weeks ago. He was 7lbs 7oz so very average. He fit into "Newborn" size in the hospital and for maybe 2 weeks but quickly outgrew them and is now in 0-3 months.

It's hard because the sizes have the same names but different weights! As a first time mum when I thought I was having a 'normal' size baby I had packed 4 newborn (up to 7 or 8lbs) and 4 0-3 months (up to 10ish lbs) I figured that would cover the weight for average baby size!

Might be completely wrong there though as it's my first baby too!! Most important thing to remember is that worst case scenario someone can go out and get you more clothes and drop them off if nothing fits :) x

Nic2908 · 12/10/2020 16:33

@Bluebell2020 thank you for replying. Its so confusing isnt it, feels like a slippery minefield. I love everything that I have picked up too so I'm going to be gutted if its too small!!

peachypetite · 12/10/2020 16:43

I mainly have 0-3 and a few newborn/first size up to about 8lbs. Agree different shops have different weight ranges and that matters more than what it’s marketed at.

Bluebell2020 · 12/10/2020 16:44

@Nic2908 I'm the same with some of the tiny baby bits I've bought! They're super cute! Although I'm really hoping they are too small 😂 but will be gutted at the same time! I thought if the bits I've got end up being too small in the hospital then I can donate them to the hospital for other babies who might need them. That's if they'll even take donations! x

NaomiB79 · 12/10/2020 17:52

@Nic2908 on one of our classes we were advised that unless you know you're having a tiny baby you should pack 2 x newborn size outfits (which will be fine if the baby is up to about 7lbs 6oz) and 2 x 0-1 month outfits for the hospital. By outfits I mean a vest and sleepsuit in each size. If you know you are having a boy pack a few more vests in each size as they tend to pee on their vests!

They said it's better being too big than too small but if the newborn size was too small you can just cut the integrated feet off and put socks on.

0-1 month is usually up to about 10lbs so your baby should get to wear most of the outfits in that size that you have bought before moving up to 0-3 months.

Jwl45 · 12/10/2020 18:06

@Nic2908
I've bought a few newborn then some up to 1 month.
When I had my other 2 , I only bought 0-3 and they were huge lol as my babies were 6lb 8 and 7lb 10. I remember having to go and buy smaller clothes for my first! I have since bought a couple of 0-3

Maybe wash a few bits .... You could return others if you think too small or won't get wear out of them.
I've washed a good handful of newborn babygrows and vests ..to take to hospital and for immediate use. I'll wash the rest after we get home. (Will have to show my husband how to use the machine and which liquid and softener to use ) lol

Pinktruffle · 12/10/2020 18:44

I saw the consultant at the hospital regarding an elective C section today and they were actually really supportive! They've booked me to have a chat with the consultant midwife for me to make sure its what I want but have in principle agreed to me having one. I'm booked to see them again in 3 weeks and they will book the C-Section in if thats what I want.

The appointment was hugely reassuring, the hospital were really supportive and so different to experiences I've had at other hospitals (when I had my miscarriage etc and during my antenatal treatment) it was really what I needed and I feel a bit more positive about having to be in hospital when giving birth on the whole.

december2020 · 12/10/2020 19:04

@Nic2908 oh god! We've got a few newborn and a few 0-3 and hoping for the best! We didn't even look at the weight part of the sizes 🙈. We've definitely got more of the 0-3 as figured the baby would grow into them eventually anyways.

I've just had a nightmare few weeks/months at work. To the point I think I could easily have a case against my boss for pregnancy discrimination. The sad bit is it's really zapped my motivation (but the deadlines and work load is still there and creeping up on me), I can hear my deadlines whispering to me every night.
The silver lining is that HR have been phenomenal (maybe to avoid a discrimination case) - only a few more weeks left till maternity and put it all behind me!
