@Pugprincess I've been told DH can still come in at the Leicester hospitals, they assured me it wasn't going to change so I'm hoping we don't turn up and they tell him he has to wait outside!
I'm sorry you're feeling so rubbish at the moment. I used to suffer with cystitis, been ok for a while but recently I've had some intermittent burning that I assume is a UTI starting and then it will go away. I was hoping it was a normal part of uterus getting a bit bigger next to it but who knows. I'm sorry about your eyes, hopefully they can get that settled so you can start on contact lenses soon!

ew1990 · 21/10/2020 07:53

@skyblue20 I had a terrible night. Awake every hour after countless horrid dreams. The first one really scared me 😩

@jojo aww good luck for today!!

@pugprincess yeah I don't know where my glow is. Dark circles and spots 😂😂 I'm hoping it comes soon 😩

SkyBlue20 · 21/10/2020 08:06

Good luck today @JoJo58995! Hope you don’t have too long to wait.

@Pugprincess Sorry to hear you’re feeling so rotten! Just typical that it’s all at once. I’m wondering about this second trimester glow, too, I’m calling it a myth!

@ew1990 Sorry you had a rough night too and were having bad dreams.

Sounds like a tough day for a lot of us. Sending hugs all round!

Starfish762 · 21/10/2020 08:35

@JoJo58995 good luck today, hope the time goes quickly!

@SkyBlue20 ouch that’s a rough night! I’m sure you’ll sleep like a log tonight.

@Pugprincess bless you that sounds awful! The mask & glasses thing is SO annoying eh, makes me really flustered too. In case it helps, when I’ve had an eye infection in past but couldn’t get a doctors apt, I went to my local pharmacy & they gave me something over the counter which worked quickly.

Lu93 · 21/10/2020 08:55

Aw no! @Pugprincess hope your eye gets sorted. You’re not alone with the absent second trimester glow... my chin is constantly covered in white heads which I try cover then makes them worse. I also feel like I’m not at that ‘showing’ stage yet I just look like I’ve put on weight and nothing fits I’m wearing the same clothes all the time because my maternity stuff I bought is still too big! Oh and randomly my nipples flare up and burn! So yeah mines also lost in the post 😅

Sakura54 · 21/10/2020 10:11

@Pugprincess That sounds terrible. Do the opticians know your pregnant? I didn’t think we were allowed eye tests etc as our eyes change and the shape too. My contacts aren’t that comfortable when I’m pregnant.

@Poppy10121 When I had the emergency the other day, it was severe pain (hence the nearly fainting) so I thought I was in trouble, but the baby was totally unaffected. So I think even with bad pain, we shouldn’t think the worse, unless there’s bleeding to accompany it.

@ew1990 Amazing, a little girl! Congrats. I know I’ll have one of each and I’m certainly not having anymore kids lol but I think that the same sex is better as more chance of them being mates.

Last day of nursery as it’s half term next week, meaning I can relax in the mornings instead of rushing around getting DS and myself ready. We get there early every time though. Also means I can stay at my own house all week in peace (nursery is near my parents). DS is such a good behaved boy when it’s just me and him, but plays up to my parents big time as they say yes to everything. It’s not easy staying with family so often (off course I appreciate their support, but I’ve had to learn to bite my tongue everyday and be more easy-going) but I need the help, especially with a hyper toddler and pregnant and then hopefully a newborn!

@Starfish762 I think my obsession with having one of each is that I grew up with 2 sister's, and it feels weird not having another girl in the house. And as I've already got my boy, I'd like to balance it out a little!
@skyblue20 there must have been something in the air last night, I kept waking up too. So did my OH, we'd both sort of lay there, waiting to doze back off. Sometimes we get a lot of noise from the docks, so perhaps it was that last night, not sure!

Starfish762 · 21/10/2020 12:32

@RosieJess91 that’s fair enough! Don’t get me wrong I’d love one of each just to experience the other side of things, but I grew up with 1 brother & always wanted a sister (bless him 😂) and everyone I know with a sister is so close to them, so I’d love for DD to have that sort of relationship. Obv bros & sisters can be close too, but you know what I mean!

Pugprincess · 21/10/2020 13:37

Thanks everyone. Currently laid on sofa. Collected my antibiotics for bladder and given my sample in. My eye can only be bathed as apparently being pregnant they can’t give me the eye drops 😐 so it’s off to hospital if that gets worse, I think it should calm down though. It’s my headaches that’s the worst right now. Everyday I’m getting them all day long. Sorry moan moan moan 😂 I’m grateful to be pregnant honestly ☺️

@Sakura54 ooo I didn’t know that about eye tests, thanks. I will ring and check with them. I did tell the receptionist I am pregnant but maybe I need to speak to the actual optician.

Growing up it was just me and my younger (by nearly 2 years) brother and we got on soooo well. Not sure everyone does but we played well and even used to camp in each other’s bedrooms 😅 least he’s never stolen my clothes or make up 🤪

@JoJo58995 I’m from Leicester too! Are you at the royal? That’s where I’m going. I had my 12 week scan there Monday before last and took my husband. Warning it’s BOILING in the waiting area so don’t wear too much 😂

@SkyBlue20 I agree, total myth. @Lu93 I’ve been trying to do something I call ‘scrub up sundays’ where I actually try to make an effort to remind hubby I’m still here somewhere 😅😅 he spends the day staring at me...not sure if it’s admiration or confusion..like who is this lady 🤣

JoJo58995 · 21/10/2020 16:04

@Pugprincess I'm sorry you're suffering so much! Fingers crossed you start to feel better soon 🤞 Ah I've opted for the General currently as it's just a bit closer, but I was at the royal for my early scan and all my previous treatments. My step-mother in law is a midwife at Derby and she's keen for us to go there so her team can look after things, but we're a bit concerned about the distance as it's over an hour without traffic, which for routine visits is less of an issue but anything urgent isn't ideal!

All ok with today's scan 😊 baby was snoozing so made it difficult for them to get the measurements initially as they needed him/her to move a little, but woke up a bit at the end and was wriggly just as they finished scanning. I've gained 4 days in total so am now apparently 12+3 and official due date is 2nd May 😊🥰

SmileyT · 21/10/2020 16:26

@ew1990 @Lollol86 okay thanks for that info, I feel like as a FTM there is so much that nobody tells you about pregnancy 🙈 definitely not enough to soak through bras but just when I'm braless it's leaking which is pretty much all the time at home 😂

@Pugprincess funnily after I said this to you last night about insomnia I was up like 3 times, first trimester needing to wee has gone but just kept waking randomly but seems a lot felt that 😭 sorry you are feeling so crappy today hope the antibiotics kick in soon x

@ew1990 yay to a girlie 💖💖

Congrats @Bellabubble and great attitude staying positive it's all we can do, I had my first scan booked for 8w but ended up moving it a few days earlier but

@Workingmama1 Would you carry on BF now? Or does it not work like that?

@Sakura54 nice you've got the support from family but definitely nice to be in your own space x

@JoJo58995 congrats on your scan xx

And honestly regardless of genders I think it's down to the children and their personalities. I'm a middle child with a brother and a sister a couple years either side and we did have different dynamics but wouldn't say one was better or worse than the other and definitely changed over time 👌🏾

Also I randomly checked the hospital website for the first time ever and apparently we are now allowed partners for the 20w scan so that's good news for today 🥳

Starfish762 · 21/10/2020 18:53

@JoJo58995 congrats! 🥰

Lollol86 · 21/10/2020 19:45

@JoJo58995 congratulations ❤️

Bellabubble · 21/10/2020 20:08

Thank you ladies! Definitely keeping busy is the key! After work I get a bit twitchy - so have decided to start looking for Christmas gifts for family members to keep distracted! I think half term might need to involve some serious sewing projects too lol! I haven’t done the self refferal form to book my birth at the hospital yet - I feel like I want to see the scan before I do that!

DanceM1 · 21/10/2020 21:49

@joJo58995 congrats on a successful scan!!

@pugprincess poor you that sounds rubbish. Hope you're ok. I definitely do not have the elusive glow! I have the worst skin EVER and I permanently look pale and tired... its very attractive..not! Have you heard anything at all about working from home after 28 weeks? I know a lot of places are doing this but not in my area... apparently after 28 weeks just a review of risk assessment telling me to wash my hands 🤣

@skyBlue20 ive just started to have rubbish sleeps recently, waking up often. I hope it doesn't become a thing!

MrsK21 · 21/10/2020 22:21

@Bellabubble I ended up having a scan at 6+5 because of some spotting but also got one booked in for 8+4. I think I'll find it hard to go longer than a couple of weeks at a time without a scan! It all feels like an absolute age at this point 😩

@Pugprincess sorry to hear you're feeling so poorly, hope you feel better soon x

Pugprincess · 22/10/2020 01:17

Another nighttime post from me 😂

Thanks ladies, I’m wondering if my headache since yesterday could be related to my uti? I’ve taken my full lot of antibiotics for today. I can still feel it now but not as bad as earlier I almost gave in and took paracetamol. I know we can but I don’t like too.

@DanceM1 yeah I’m allowed to work from home from 28 weeks but I have no idea how that works as how do you work with kids at home 😂 can do stuff via video maybe but then you can’t be left 1-1 with a child so would have to be a group. Could be interesting. I’d rather go in school for as long as possible to be honest but obviously I don’t want to risk mine or babies health if covid still bad and I think it’s likely to be. We haven’t had any cases at school recently in the last fortnight. What would you do if you had the choice? I’m wondering if there’s something I can do at school like just reading 1-1 and interventions with my ppe on to reduce risk so I’m not sat in classrooms cooped up...

Starfish762 · 22/10/2020 06:09

Worst nights sleep ever I’m exhausted with stinging eyes! Scan is 2.15, I’ve never felt dread like it 😭

@Pugprincess my friend’s a teacher & she WFH for 4 months during the first wave, mainly just lesson planning, some video calls & emails, basically not her usual job. Not easy with kids there (I done it for 4.5 months it was stressful 😂). Have you not got childcare help or nursery while you’re usually at work? If so all good!

JoJo58995 · 22/10/2020 06:23

@Starfish762 thinking of you today. Everything crossed for a positive scan 🤞💕🤞💕

DanceM1 · 22/10/2020 06:41

@pugprincess well currently I have no choice i have to be in class as usual after 28 weeks. I honestly don't know what I would want to do if given the choice. I think if its deemed risky enough that people are being told to work from home I would put baby first and work from home. BUT I dont have other children at home which obviously would make life much easier for me! I will just have to see what happens I guess! I'd prefer to stay in school as long as possible but who knows what lies ahead 🤷‍♀️

Pugprincess · 22/10/2020 12:44

Ohhh no I didn’t mean I have kids at home I meant how do you work with the school kids from home lol. Sorry. I’m in a teaching assistant role at the moment (I am qualified as a teacher but found it far too stressful).

Guys are round ligament pains like stabby and low down abdomen? Wasn’t sure if it’s been my bladder cause uti or this round ligament starting. Also has anyone else noticed way more ear wax? 😂 I have tonnes more 🤣

@Starfish762 good luck for 2.15 ❤️🤞🏻

RosieJess91 · 22/10/2020 13:20

@starfish762 good luck for your scan!!

I think my baby has the hiccups... I keep getting these tiny little jolts in my belly. Not like a little kick every few seconds, but spaced quite evenly like the hiccups! Very odd!

Starfish762 · 22/10/2020 15:08

Wow what a day! There’s nothing like that waiting, heart palpitations, sweats, feeling sick etc. But we saw a healthy little bean with a heartbeat, I started sobbing with relief! She moved me forward 2 days too so now 8w exactly due 3rd June ❤️

@RosieJess91 when I was pregnant with DD she got hiccups a lot, so strange! And had them LOADS as a newborn, amazing!

SkyBlue20 · 22/10/2020 16:01

Afternoon all!

Congratulations, @Starfish762 and @JoJo58995! 💕

@SmileyT Fab news that your partner is now allowed in!

@RosieJess91 Ahhh hiccups, how cute 🥰

@Pugprincess I think my round ligament pains are mainly quite sharp one-off pains when I move (I get them mostly when standing up from the toilet 🙈), sometimes I have to keep a bit bent over and stand up slowly. I do also have like stretching movements lower down though - it all feels quite tender actually sometimes, which I'm assuming/hoping is normal 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hope everyone is having a good day! xx

JoJo58995 · 22/10/2020 21:09

@Starfish762 yayyy congratulations! So happy for you 💕💕💕💕

@Pugprincess I get sharp pains which I'm assuming are round ligament pains. This morning I sneezed while lying on my back doing pregnancy yoga, and had about 10 seconds of extreme sharp pain all across my lower abdomen. I remember it happening in the last pregnancy a few times but I was never sure if it was normal to be quite so sudden or quite so painful, I did a quick Google this morning and it said it was round ligament pain and completely normal so I'm hoping that is the case!
