hiya-

just checking up on how the babies are going- cant wait for their arrivals .

iampg- I've never used moses baskets- and have always had baby in with me for at least 6 mths (which is what is recommended)... I know many people move baby into own room earlier (including lots on this thread ). You'll just have to see how you feel about it. I dont mind listening to grunts and other noises from baby- keeps me happy being able to hear them- but other people say it disturbs their own sleep... Dex is in his hammock which is smaller than a cot (havent actually got a cot yet). A friend of mine has a 8 week old baby and he only was in moses basket for 2 weeks!

RE homebirth- have you put your pool up yet? I think they take quite a long time to fill?
Where is it going to be? The only big enough space in my house would have been kitchen which i wasnt sure about . I bought plastic sheeting and never even took it out the packet... just used towels and an old sleeping bag opened up on the floor.

fettleandbabyfettle · 18/01/2008 10:33

Come on babies!! I want to virtually sniff a newborn again!

bTW = keep meaning to tell you Greedy that you know that spotty Boden dress - I can fit into it now - although the zip is still a bit tight around the boobs! hope they shrink once I stop feeding!

take care all

hiya ladies

rainbowdays - its great you get a grant! i hope you get the homebirth you want this time. at the NCT meeting i went 2 last night 2 of the women there had hired independant midwives and they said is was just fab as you get to build up a relationship with 1 person and at the end she hopefully delivers the baby, where as when i go into labour its luck of the draw who i get!
i would offer my pool to you but we are planning on keeping it for future babies but if anything changes il definately give you first refusal on it.
i have a pram travel system but that is pretty much the same size as the moses basket.

fettle - thanks for the reassurance on the size of the moses basket, i think il just see what happens and if he doesnt get on with it then move onto bigger things, but i definately want him in with us for the first few months if not longer.

honey - thanks for the advice also, the problem we have at the moment is we only have one upstairs room finished which will eventually be Oscars when we move out, i have had to cram everything into there including our king size bed which is why we opted for a moses basket to save on space. Our room wont be done probably for about 3 months (our room is much bigger so no probs fitting our bed and cot in there if oscar stays with us after that) i got a bit worried about the fact that i cant fit a cot into the room we are in at the moment.
on the homebirth front we havnt put it up yet as dp is still working on the hallway which will be finished saturday, after that we will more than likely pump it up but not fill it until the actual day. Its going opposite our kitchen near patio doors (il get some pics up to show you at some point much easier to describe then!) i havnt bought any plastic sheeting, just going to use a tonne of old towels, pillows and duvet.
was your first home water birth with dex? how did it compare to ordinary births? i wasnt planning on delivering in the pool purely because i read somewhere that if you tear you have to w ait an hour to be stitched, but the ladies at my nct class yesterday completely changed my mind and also about the 3rd stage. i swear my community midwives are just here to scare the hell out of me so i will go to hospital!!

anyway id better get dressed! was supposed to meet with some ladies on the meet up page in my area this morning but had such a crap nights sleep i needed a lie in will have to post my apologies sharpish

Bodkin · 18/01/2008 11:52

Ok, a very speedy mammoth post from me to catch up.... it'll be all over the place but never mind!

Firsty - a tooth! That's wonderful! Bet he looks cute as a button with his new pearly white poking through.

Seaside - I am vomiting with envy at your nursery - tis the most gorgeous thing I have ever seen and you have inspired me to pull my finger out and remove the carrier bags full of grown-out-of baby clothes from Isla's room and send 'em to the chazza shops. You look positively gorgeous with your bump - you carry like me - very low down. It does put a strain on your nethers though I find! Mrs is absolutely right about Bond Girl with a Bump!

Greedy - good to hear the weight is still coming off - excellent work! Well done on getting through your DSs first day at school! Very traumatic I'm sure. I've got another 8 months to go before my little baby (DD1) goes off. She seems so little still - and I can't believe that Isla will be this age (just 4) when she starts school - just hope that having an older sister will push her on a bit!
PMSL at your stalking activities - did you have sunglasses on and a rainmac when you spied on DS in the playground! Marcy sounds incredible - an hour? iN the bouncy chair? Both Isla and Nelly have hated the bloody things. the only purpose ours has ever served is to trip DP up!
Talking of delaying weaning - do it! I'm still not really giving Isla much in the way of food yet (nearly 6.5 months!) Soo much easier! She is nibbling the odd bit off food off the plate, and seems to swallow it well, no gagging, which is great. I found half a slice of mushroom in her nappy the other day - completely undigested! And Chooster - soory to say, that we gave her fish and chips the other day too! Well, half a chip to chew on and a bit of white fish. that was the night she slept through until 5.30am so am thinking of giving her chips everynight !

MrsMc - sorry to hear about your Dad - that must be a worry for you. Hope your managing to enjoy these last few days with your bump and not getting too frustrated! Sending birthing vibes to you!

Rainbowdays - oh I remember those "slippery eel feelings" well! Hard to concentrate on work isn't it! Good news on your homebirth and that you can go home for the weekend. Yeovil is not so very far from me (30 miles?) - but as Fettle says, I am a bit of a homebody at the mo - still haven't quite mastered this 2 kids malarkey yet!

Fettle - great to hear the christening went well. Re the feeding - probably is a growth spurt, just go with the flow and keep drinking loads and eating plenty and hopefully he'll settle down again soon. I find Isla's growth spurts are usually defined by sleeping more in the day and feeding more at night! Sounds like the weight is positively dropping off you! Well done. My weight has not changed for weeks - but Isla is feeding like a demon at the mo, so hopefully will see some reduction soon!
Well done on coming to a decision about work - that sounds like a good plan.

Iampg - it really depends on the size of your baby - re moses basket. Sounds like Oscar will be quite small, so you might be fine for a coule of months. I think my DD1 grew out of hers at about 10/11 weeks and she was average sized. Bit harsh of your mate to laugh at you - seems a perfectly reasonable suggestion!

Phew I think I've caught up with everyone, and i haven't missed any babies! Hooray. Right, will be paying more attention from now on!

Haven't written anything for Chooster... um, don't know what happened there. Well, hi anyway and hope Theo is still doing well at night.

All is well here - things are much more civilised - we even had a family afternoon out on Wednesday to weymouth (hence the fish and chips!) which was a great success and isla was delightful as was DD1. Isla seems to have settled down to 2 naps a day which is great. She is akip now and has been since 10am, so I am very chuffed. She'll probably have another 45 mins this afternoon at 2.30/3 ish and then bed at 7. So much more civilised than trying to fit all the naps and feeds she was needing in to 12 hours. Just got to crack sleeping through the night, but will leave that until after we come back from Centerparcs - going on the 4th Feb. Can't wait! I'm so bored of winter and having nothing ot do with DD1 in the afternoons when she comes back from pre-school. Anyone got any good tips of things to do? we do baking, puzzles, park (but been too wet for ages), library, sometimes a cafe if we're feeling very extravagant! but I'm really getting stuck for ideas to do at home - she plays on the computer mostly, but I'm feeling abit guilty that i let her do it for ages sometimes.

Anyway, I have now filled upa page of A4 in Word, so better copy, paste and GO!

Hi everyone else!

Bodkin · 18/01/2008 12:12

Have just put a "proud mother" picture of Isla on my profile BTW

rainbowdays · 18/01/2008 12:29

Awwww, Bodkin - Isla looks so soooo cute in those pictures....

MrsMcJnr · 18/01/2008 17:33

Hey ladies I?m still here, how come??!! ah well, maybe tomorrow ? there does seem to be some signs of ?action? (back to knicker checking again!) but no contractions or anything. I have one day left to have a nice natured Capricorn like me rather than a stubborn Aquarian like my DH!!

Iampg ? some babies last longer in moses baskets than others. We had this whole dilemma because of the hoped for move and whether it was worth getting a cot etc. In the end we got Theo?s Amby which should last a bit longer than a moses basket but we have actually been given a moses basket too so I do plan to use that downstairs. If I were you I?d order another liner and have a candle lit test out of the pool ? could be fun my sis let my DN1 swim in theirs for a few days before DN2 arrived, he loved it!! I do feel ready in some ways but not in others. I am fed up that I have spent 4 weeks of mat leave on my own without my baby when every day counts but there is no way I could have gone on working past 37 weeks, I was shattered. My parents have decided not to come now my Dad just wants to have the op over there and can?t think about anything else at the mo. Was trying not to sound too upset on the phone but couldn?t help it My Mum was harassing me about names she wanted initials and said she?s never had to wait this long before and she can?t bear it ? LOL it is so much fun keeping her in suspense ? and everyone else, there is only one person I see in Real Life who knows our names and that?s Chooster! I don?t have to keep you in suspense though ? our boys? names are (1) Xavier (2) Isaac and our girls? names are (1) Aaliyah and (2) if I get my way, Saona (lovely island off the Dominican Republic and (2) if DH gets his way, Ava (I feel like we?ve used that name already ) hope you had fun at your meeting! Re delivery in the pool, it might be right that you have to wait to be stitched as you might be waterlogged (and you?d have to go to hospital anyway so that would use up some of the time!) but you are still less likely to tear in the water and even if you are on dry land in a hospital, given resources, sometimes you have to wait to be stitched anyway. If I get a water birth which is what I hope for too, I have to get out for the 3rd stage, too risky for me not really being able to assess blood loss in the pool.

Rainbowdays ? I really hope you get the experience that you want sounds lovely having a home birth in a pool, I know my sister loved doing it that way

Fettle ? I hope I remember to make the most of my nipper when it?s tiny; it is such a flash of time isn?t it? LOL at you virtually sniffing new borns. Well done on the Boden dress front, can?t wait to wear those clothes again!

Hey Honeyapple I remember so well waiting for your news! Time flies!

Bodkin LOL at the weaning ? chips are great! thanks for the birthing vibes!! Bet you can?t wait for your Centerparcs trip Loving the new pic Isla was just born to be cuddled wasn?t she?

Have a lovely weekend all you ladies and if things start happening, I?ll be texting Chooster

fettleandbabyfettle · 18/01/2008 18:49

Mrs - don't knock Aquarians - I'm one!!!

Getting so excited for you all!!!! It is such fun giving birth!!!! (well at least in my memory I enjoyed it!!).

Lovely names by the way, Mrs - but i'm with you on the Ava front, I kind of feel you've already got a daughter with that name IYKWIM.

Bodders - Isla is gorgeous!

have great weekends everyone!

OP posts:
iampgatlast · 18/01/2008 19:50

bodkin - my friends boy weighed 9lb at birth and is up to nearly 13lbs at 6 weeks, i surely cant be having one that big my bump isnt big enough!! i think its just going to be a wait and see game - he might take a dislike to the moses basket from day one. gorgeous pic of Isla btw cant believe she is so big already - seems like only a few weeks ago she was born, how time flies!

mrs - shame about your mum and dad have you had any more viewings on the house or did you take it off for a while i cant remember..? maybe i should have considered the amby nest before buying the moses basket but i do prefer the moses looks wise. i love the names you have chosen too, they are not common which is what i like, thats partly why we chose Oscar for a boy - then low and behold bloody eastenders goes and names one of its characters that! but i named my baby boy first
I agree with fettle on using ava, that name already has a very special place in your heart. when i miscarried the names we had for our baby were Tyler or Jessica but dp and i both agreed that we couldnt use them this time around as it wouldnt feel right for us as much as we loved them.
do you have to have a managed 3rd stage due to your condition? we are still umming and ahhing over which to opt for - theres pros and cons for both choices...
how long will your consultant let you go overdue by? i have been told by my mw that if things having started by 40+10 i will be admitted and induced
i hope if things start happening this weekend everything goes well for you and your new family i shall be logging on in suspense from now on...

have a good weekend everyone xxx

honeyapple · 18/01/2008 20:10

evening all

mrs- lovely names... are the 2nd ones going to be middle names- or you havent decided which ones you prefer? have you started on the sex and curry yet?

iampg- didnt have a pool- just had Dex on bedroom floor... BTW MW should be able to stitch you up at home if necessary. I had the injection for all of my third stages- and still managed to have some retained bits this time around. IMO i wanted placenta out asap so that i could get on with cleaning myself up! DP took Dex after i'd fed and cuddled him, and then i had a lovely bath. I think a natural third stage can sometimes take a while??
re going overdue- i would reccommend a sweep if you are offered it to avoid being induced.

bod- lovely pic of isla- is she back in washable nappies then? i love big bummed babies .

after 2 nights of dex waking up at 3am- and not settling till after 4.30am... he slept from 10pm- 6am which is his record i think so far... fingers crossed for tonight.

one finger typing again as dex is on boob... so hi to everyone, good luck mrs... we will be waiting for chooster's news !!!

greedygreedyguzzler · 18/01/2008 20:36

really hope i can post this i am having such problems with my PC and i am really scared i am going to miss a birth!!

mrs!!! LOL at you being the heaviest woman in the county!!! and your dh wont have time to pump up any balls he will be far too busy with you and your super speedy labour you are going to have. i loved my birthing ball before i was in labour but once in labour all i wanted to do was lean forwards with every contraction so i kicked it across the room when dh tried to give it to me in the middle of one!! dont know much about cancer i am afraid, i just thought from the position you described it sounded more likely to be that nerve that would be affected if any which seemed a bit better than the optic nerve. sorry if i sounded a bit blase (is that how you spell it?) come on minimrs!!!!! we are dying to know if you are pink or blue!!!

iampg................... i kept marcy in her moses basket for about 8 wks (ithink! how can i have forgotten already!!) and she is a BIG baby!! i kept dd1 in there for about 12 wks and she was big too, and she did look a bit cramped, but she was fine!!! only kept ds (who was tiny to start with!) in there for about 1 week................they are all different and i am sure oscar will be fine. i think new mums have a habit of laughing at ideas of mums to be.........saying things like "yeah, thats what i thought until i actually HAD a baby!!! " and.........."you have got all this to come!!".................think i might have been guilty of this a few times, but the truth is we all do things differently and all babies are different!

oooo fettle - just read about the dress...i am going to have to try it on again now................i REALLY hope i can get into it now i am back in most of my other size 14s so i should be able too..................mind ypou the zip is still broken!!

bodders - i love your fish and chips weaning style!!! i might try that.........only suggestion for keeping little ones entertained is inviting their friends round........although i have gone a bit mad recently and we have got someone different coming round every day next week which i am not looking forward to...................luckily marcy doesnt care about the noise!!! not sure what my neighbours think though!!

hey mrs...my dh is an aquarius and is the most chilled out obliging man in the world!!!

iampg - i had a waterbirth with dd1 and in hindsight it was by far the least painful, quickest birth with no tears or anything. i pushed her out in the pool and the main downside was getting out and trying to hold her afterwards cos i was really cold and shakey. after having her i said a waterbirth wasn't that great and i wouldn't do it again..................but NOW after doing it on dry land this time i would DEFINATELY have a waterbirth if there was ever a no. 4!!!! the main thing was the pushing out was a million times quicker (8mins!!) and a million times less painful!!

greedygreedyguzzler · 18/01/2008 20:40

yeah!!! it worked!!!

iampg.........i would recommend a sweep too, i had one at 9 days over and then had marcy within 24 hours! also i had a natural third stage 2nd and 3rd time and it never took very long, but second time the MW kind of tugged it out without waiting for a contraction which wasn't nice. mw said to me " if you have doen all the hard bit without any drugs, why do you want drugs in your body now?"" and i just kind of went along with it!!!

seaside72 · 19/01/2008 00:08

Just a quickie - My mum arrives tomorrow so am tidying and cleaning even more than ever!

Mrs - lovely names - I am of you and Iampg as you have names - we are still struggling and have now decided to wait and hope that Dave "tells" us what he wants to be called - Of course he will be nicknamed Dave forever I am sure. I am so sorry to hear about your Dad and that they will not be coming over If it is any consolation I am sure I have read that type of cancer has the highest rate of successful treatment.

Exciting about your pool Iampg - I think you will be fine with a moses basket to start with - and if he does grow quick my friend got a great little white cot from Ikea which was really reasonable. + as you want more all this stuff will get used again hopefully! My mw says thye will let me go to 12 days OD here??

LOL about all the star sign talk - Mrs _ I am exact opposite and am keeping legs crossed for an aquarius No offense - but the capricorns I know are well stubborn!!!

So glad christening went well fettle - we are def having Dave christened as we go to church every Sunday anyway and I love an excuse for a dress up/party!

Bodders -Thanks you for nursery compliments - we are very lucky (or rather dave is!) to have such a large room - it used to be our bedroom! You are right - I have carried low since the beginning - nice to hear someone else was the same! Pics are gorgeous. Glad you had a nice day out in Weymouth - think we will be joining you on the fish and chips weaning diet! I mean - mushy peas are made for babies surely!!

No inklings here really - just lots of movements low down and a bit of stinging in groin?? mw says he is well engaged and bump is so low I can barely sit down Think the Bond girl comments are a bit far fetched - but thanks I thought we would do an all black outfit to show off bump best! Also think a bond girl with have bigger boobs!!

It is so weird being so close but not knowing what is going to happen - will it be a show first, a contraction, waters, induction????? arghh Can't believe that in 2 weeks - I will have had him - by hook or by crook!

greedy - get that PC sorted! - its going to get busy here soon!!!

Right off for whatever zzzzz's I can get.

night night

greedygreedyguzzler · 19/01/2008 11:01

i am at work, so i am making the most of a pc that actually works!!!!

seaside - i LOVE the nursery. far too big for just one baby though you do know that!!?? you will be ttc no.2 before you know it!!! i loved your "It is so weird being so close but not knowing what is going to happen - will it be a show first, a contraction, waters, induction????? arghh Can't believe that in 2 weeks - I will have had him - by hook or by crook!" comment....................it really brought it all back to me how exciting and daunting it is first time. it really is so amazing and special, i hope you have a really positive birth experience. when is your actual due date? i am SO jealous of you (and mrs and iampg) getting to experience all of this for the first time...............................OMG!!! i am still an emotional wreck....made me cry just thinking about how wonderful it all is!!!.....................maybe i wont stop at 3 afterall!!!

guess i should go home and see my wonderful 3 then instead of sitting here thinking about them!!! what sort of state will my house be in i wonder after dh and kids have been left alone for a few hours!!

have a great weekend all. and no babies till my pc is fixed!!

rainbowdays · 19/01/2008 13:04

OK I am sitting here in my pyjamas and big soft dressing gown, having watched a dvd, done a little knitting and generally lazing around doing nothing much. My big sister (who I am living with at the moment) says make the most of it, so I am trying to do that. When ever will I get the chance to be this lazy again in the next few years!!!! I keep thinking that when reality strikes in a couple of months time, I at least will be able to think back on a time, of loads of me me me time, before baby and children take back over my life again. But it is strange, I still feel guilty for just chilling doing nothing! I would never have thought on a third pregnancy that I would get to relax so much during it.

Ok I have to admit to already thinking about a 4th pregnancy!!!!! Please tell me I am totally crazy to be even contemplating it. When I mentioned it to dh he seemed totally unphased by the idea. I think he feels that three or four, what is the difference, still have to get a bigger car etc anyway and we already have enough bedrooms! This is not what I needed to hear! I need to be thinking about it now as after giving birth last time, despite exclusive breastfeeding on demand, I still got my periods restarting within 8 weeks of giving birth, I had 6 weeks of post-partum bleeding, stopped for 2 weeks and then got my first period - arrrggggg. So we have to decided about contraception now, beforehand or I could be risking an even shorter gap between children than last time. If we do have a 4th then I do want only a small gap between them, but I keep thinking: I must be mad wanting another. However when dh and I were first dating we always said we would have 4 children: boy, girl, boy girl. Have not stuck to the names we chose back then: William, Aiofe, Ronan, Katherine, but so far they have matched the characters we created for them, which could mean this little one being a little tearaway tyke! Sorry, can you tell I have too much time on my hands today!!!!!!!

Mrs - hope today is the day for you like you wish, or that you have the patience of a saint for the next few days if it does not.

MrsMcJnr · 19/01/2008 14:25

Hey ladies woke up this morning without any labour like signs AGAIN got really impatient last night as a colleague who was due the day before me texted to say she?d had a lovely baby girl and that plus the 10 plus calls asking me where our baby was made me want to know the same thing!!!

Fettle I?m just kidding, my favourite person in the world, my DH is an Aquarian!

Iampg I?m sure your baby won?t be that big hon! I think the average is about 7 ½ pounds isn?t it? We took the house off the market over Christmas to give us a break, it is meant to be going back on at the end of this month, maybe that will be a good thing, I?ll be too caught up in the baby to be too house proud! I?m sure your moses basket will serve you well hon, don?t worry. Thank you for your thoughts on our names I like Oscar too I had a good friend in Spain called that. One of the ladies on the Jan AN/PN thread just named her daughter Aaliyah, that?s the first one that I?ve heard of! Although when I googled what we?d call a girl I did find one born in the US in July, her name was almost exactly the same but the middle name was Rose not Rosemary! When I googled our boys names I got lots of Caribbean sportsman ? I think it is more the surname than the first name though, there seem to be a lot of Scottish descendants over there! I talked through the 3rd stage with the Consultant and the Midwife. Have to say, if I manage to have a totally drug free birth and then have the synometerine and end up with a migraine I?ll be pretty cross but that stage is the highest risk stage for me (if all happens naturally) If I am on land, I think I?ll have the shot, that?s the hospital?s standard policy and as I have now found out that the cord doesn?t have to be cut because you?ve had the shot, I feel better about it. If I am in the pool, it is not the hospital?s policy to give the shot but I?ve agreed to come out before the placenta is delivered so they can monitor the blood loss but hopefully it?ll be a physiological delivery, it all depends on my blood loss really. I think my consultant will let me go up to 10-12 days over my EDD but let?s hope I go before then. I have an appointment next Thurs (40+9) so hopefully if things haven?t happened by then she can try another sweep before an induction. I don?t think the last sweep did anything though as it?s more than 48 hours since that and I?m not in labour Remember, induction is YOUR choice, they cannot make you and there is plenty of research to say that as long as you and the baby are monitored and all is ok the risks to the baby do not increase materially until the 43rd week so don?t worry, if it comes to it for you, we?ll help you stand up for your rights!!

Honeyapple glad you like our names, no, we are using family names as second/middle names, Rosemary for a girl after my Gran and John for a boy after DH?s Papa. DH has already told me that after we have an Xavier and an Isaac, he?d like to have a Zac!! I did point out that an Isaac might be nick named Zac and that I didn?t like the sound of Zachary with our surname but hey, it?s a few kids off yet!!

Greedy at least the ball came in handy in your labour than for kicking purposes!! You didn?t sound blasé about my Dad, it was helpful, thanks. I spoke to him about it this morning for the first time; he?s doing pretty well and has confidence in his dr so that?s great. I see a fourth baby out there for you truly I do?. also, mean to say, I know exactly the ring you have, gorgeous!!!

Hey Seaside don?t worry about names, of all the NCT babies and babies that I have known being born recently, none of them have had names for the first week and one set of NCT friends have just changed their baby?s name after a week of calling her it! Thanks for your kind words about my Dad LOL you are probably right, Capricorns can be just like goats sometimes in their stubbornness but I am useless at baring a grudge or being in a huff and DH excels in that and I am worried about having a kid who can do the same!! FIL?s b?day is tomorrow and he is just like DH in that so it could be the star sign but it could also be genetic!! I know what you mean; it?s weird to think that by 29th I will have had the baby for sure. I get those stingings too; it could be the cervix I guess?

Rainbowdays ? sounds like a lovely relaxing morning, enjoy hon! I always wanted 4 too and if this pregnancy has been anything to go by, I?d love to go through it all 3 times more ? we?ll see if I say that after the birth. I get sad sometimes because I am already 34 and this is my first but who knows, that twin gene may come my way!! DH is one of 2 and I was one of 3 and we both like the idea of a house full of kids.

Right ? off to make more raspberry leaf tea I sent DH into Neal?s Yard the other day for 2 bags. He said he felt like a drug dealer the woman looked a bit concerned when DH bought 2 bags until he told her his wife was overdue! DH seems to have got over his aversion to my bump in bed and is being very giving with the natural prostaglandin, I think it?s because he is dying to be on pat leave and off work more than any desire for me but at least with that, the tea, the pineapple, the bouncing on the ball and the walking, I am doing all I can ? still can?t face curry or castor oil though!!!

rainbowdays · 19/01/2008 15:16

MrsMc- You are starting off a whole year earlier than me! My first was born when I was 35, I am 40 in 2 weeks time!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope that the sex and rasberry leaf tea starts working soon for you. I found walking more productive than sex for getting things going to be honest, but not as much fun

greedy - ok looks like you and I will be back together on the ttc boards again soon

seaside - hope with your mum there that you are sitting relaxing today rather than more nesting, take the time to enjoy sitting doing nothing but chatting. Interesting to read that you are a regular church-goer too, there seems to be a few of us here! Hope that you really enjoy planning Dave's christening, Perhaps he will have to have dave as a middle name if it is not his first!!!

OK can I put a name dilemma to you all? My dh has lots of uncles,,,, and one of them (uncle A) was married to (Aunt A). We gave our daughter the same name as Aunt A, and have felt there was no problem with this. Since then Aunt A has sadly died. Our dilemma is that our favorite name is the same as Uncle A, so we would be using not only his wifes name but his name also. Is this too wierd. If dh did not have so many uncles, our choises of boys names would not be so restricted. Would you think that is was too odd calling your child the same name as it's dads uncle?

honeyapple · 19/01/2008 15:26

hiya-

oh boo- i was hoping there would be a new baby today ... when was Beansprouts c-section due?

Mrs- it wont be too long... remember Greedy and I were both 10 days over... seemed like an eternity- but all forgotten now. BTW my DS1 was supposed to be an Aquarian- but was early so is a Capricorn- and he is a stubborn goat! Dunno what Dex is... 5th november?? Or DD for that matter- 7th dec... someone enlighten me?

Greedy/Rainbow- what is this talk of more babies?? I think I might have got over it- Not sure I want to do it again... Agree with you Greedy about feeling so happy for all these first timers... what an amazing journey ahead.

Have had a manic morning taking DD to a party at 10am and then straight to ballet afterwards... She had a private lesson on friday to learn her solo dance for this festival- have to learn it now! She is going to be wearing a tutu with sequins on- how jealous am I?

Dex slept again brilliantly last night- but cant get him to sleep for more than 15mins in the day... unless in the car or out and about in his buggy. He is now lying under his gym and squeaking with delight- only 5 mins ago he was crying- sunshine and showers. Right going to try and load a photo... if MN lets me this time.

Rainbow- not weird IMO about the name. Is it an unusual name? How often do you see this uncle?

honeyapple · 19/01/2008 16:18

hurrah! finally managed some pics- Dex wasnt much in the mood to be photographed ... but realised i dont have any up to date ones of him, must attend to that!

busy morning on here, but no babies yet!

Just back from shopping - it is miserable out there! It has to stop raining at some point soon.

Honey - your 3 are absolutely gorgeous! If its any conciliation, Toby is the same re sleeping during the day - means I can't get anything done during the day. He's not even very happy amusing himself for very long unless he's watching telly, which I really don't want to encourage. Try really hard to keep him facing away from it!!

Rainbowy - what a fantastic morning you had!

Greedy - hope work is still going well. At least you have a working computer!

Seaside - I thought you might have had your little Dave by now as we hadnt' heard from you for a couple of days!! Maybe now your mum has come down, your body will relax and baby will be born. Most people I know don't have names confirmed before baby is born and many others have a definite choice, but think it doesn't suit their child (how you can really tell when they are minutes old, I've never known!!).

lots of labour vibes to mrs, Iampg and seaside - I too am so excited about you all about to embark on this wonderful motherhood adventure!!

anyway, must go!

love and hugs to all

thanks fettle-

when dex was squeaking in delight I went to look at him and he was watching the tele! Thought he sounded rather jolly ... agree not what I really want him to be doing- have just angled him so head is not in direction of the dreaded box (DD is watching cbeebies in a daze after her hectic morning!)

Still here girls - So exhausted have spent the day cleaning for my mum (she is a clean freak and I cannot cope with her taking over and putting on rubber gloves within 10 minutes of being here!!)- so the house is spotless - bless DH - he did loads to help including pulling out entire sofa to hoover

Mrs - how fed up are you of the phone calls - grrrr - like we would not tell people if we had had him - "oh sorry - yes we had the baby last week and forgot to call you!!" grrrrrr. I am making my mum answer the phone from now on!!

Of course you girls are different!

No twinges/ no nothing today? what is going to happen - DH and I are going to test drive the tens tomorrow.

Can I just say I am getting irrationally excited about our temp buds - Ready Rah and Minxi are all possible bfps- how fantastic would that be if they all got bfps like me Mrs and Iampg (and beansprout) last May!!! And just as we are all about to give birth- Please please let it happen

I think beansprout has the CS booked for Jan 23?
honey - Dex is such a cutie - in fact all three are gorgeous!!

greedy - you are going to make me cry too!!

fettle - thanks for the labour vibes - I think we need them!!

rainbowdays - so glad you are getting some chill time - you deserve it - Lol about planning number 4 while pg with number three greedy wil be getting ideas if you are not careful! Good reassurance about the age thing - I feared we had left it too late for more than 2 also - but you are proof it can be done well!!

Right crashing off to bed

Still here?. so curry didn?t work either, just gave me heartburn DH confessed that he just can?t imagine it happening at all confess that I am beginning to feel the same!

Re starting a family mid 30s, that?s good to know Rainbowdays thanks! my advice is to just use the name you like hon!

Honeyapple ? thanks for reminding me that you and Greedy were overdue too I got it into my head in the wee small hours that all late babies spelt bad deliveries and I got all upset ? nonsense of course but you never think straight in the middle of the night do you? Beansprout?s section is booked for 23rd! your DD is probably a Sagittarian but I am not sure about Dex. Gorgeous kids you have, really cute

Thanks Fettle I?m trying to stay excited and not just be impatient and anxious!

Seaside ? I can?t believe you did all that cleaning, I just can?t be bothered anymore that is so exciting about Ready, Rah and Minxi ? I have everything crossed for a new generation of graduates!!! hang in there you, it will happen for us!!

Iampg ? sounds interesting though painful hon, I hope you are ok keep us posted.
