Great news City ... what is your due date then?

greedygreedyguzzler · 11/01/2008 16:46

firsty - hi!!! i did more stomping in my nightie last night to boost my no. of steps doen in a day!!! trouble is i did 15,000 on my first day without trying and now if i dont make that every day i feel bad!!! i have done......hang on/.................12615 so far today.............and we have freinds coming round for dinner tonight so i cant se me doing much walking then!!!( i am cooking them a weight watchers meal, but not telling them!!!) dont tell me marcys sleeping is good!!!!! she did quite a few nights of 12 or 13 hours solid, so now i am expecting that off her all the time and not getting it!!! she drained all her 9oz bottles yesterday, so the HV has suggested i put her on the hungry abby milk to delay weaning a bit..................and i am all for that!!! its much easier to plonk a bottle in her mouth than to have to start cooking food to give her!! she was 15lb 12oz when i got her weighed today, so not quite as much as i thought and still following the 98th centile, so at least she isnt spiralling off the top of the charts like dd1 did!!! and hey..........1/2lb is better than nothing!!! certainly better than putting 1/2lb on!! and i think they all choke quite a lot to start with on toast etc, scarey isn't it? just takes them a while to get used to what to do.

rainboydays - does your sis have twins or did she just REAALY go for it? i think i have mentioned before on here that one of my freinds had 4 boys all undr 3 at one point!!!........what am i complaining about hey??!!! its FAB having 3 actually!!!(dont read this fettle!!) today they have all been GORGEOUS!!! including arsey marcy!!!

wow city!!!!! fab news!!! now you can start to relax and enjoy a bit!!!! you REALLY ARE GOING TO HAVE A BABY!!!!!!!

have great weekends all1!!!

seaside72 · 11/01/2008 22:33

Fantastic news city - so pleased for you - what was the scan like? I was so amazed at the detail - in fact I still think out of the three scans I have had - 12 week was the best - did you get a pic or two??!!

greedy - lol at stomping nightie antics! Well done with the diet. I was looking at some pics of myself from 2006 and I was so shocked at how skinny I was - can't believe I will ever look that way again! I am in mourning for my embarrassingly huge jeans collection already

Firsty - well done on the toast front - must be scary I have so much to learn. My mum keeps telling me how I had my first solid (rusk) at 18 days old as I was so ravenous !!

Have had another very slight cramp this evening (barley noticeable) - just made me think how amazing it has been to have no AF for so long and no cramps. Have just read a real hippy but inspirational birth book by Ina May She says to keep repeating the mantra "I am huge" (down there!!) And also recommends an arm wrestle with DH if labour slows as clenching arm muscle helps you to forget about the other muscles!

Iampg - sorry your mw is being so uncooperative You should be down here - they are desperate for home births as we only have one hospital that has maternity services for the whole county Hope it resolves itself soon without too much stress.

Glad MrsMc is OK xxx waves

cityangel · 11/01/2008 23:56

EDD 23 July long way to go though its only 5.5cm
The pictures were amazing. It was so active and moving around like nobody's business! It waved and hung on to the umbilical chord! Well that's what we reckon anyway!
Told my brother today and telling my parents tomorrow! Soon RL people will know!

Seaside MrsMC how goes it... lots to be busy with!

honeyapple · 12/01/2008 15:58

That's lovely city ... I am v envious of you having a summer baby- my 3 are all winter ... perhaps that's a good reason to have number 4!! Mind you Dexter was supposed to be a summer baby...

DS1's bowling party last night was great- but my gawd HOW NOISY ARE 10x 9yr old boys?? Answer- VERY!!

Beansprout- 1 week to go... how are you feeling?

Chooster · 12/01/2008 20:11

Yeeaah, well done city!! Great news - and your EDD is only one day away from mine with Theo - I was the 22nd July. As Honey says it really is lovely having a summer baby, even though this summer was a bit of a wash out. Very very pleased for you - I bet you keep having little sneaky looks at the photo?! .

hey Greedy, my DH just bought me a pedometer too a few days ago and I went out for a walk with a friend on Thursday night. We did 4.3 miles but am not too sure how many steps that was - just can't remember. Hadn't thought to wear it all day, but I will now. We can compare daily steps . Will be gutted if I'm nowhere near your 15,000!!! Hope the meal turms out well, weight watchers stuff (well any healthy eating) can be lovely... By the way I can't believe that marcy drains a 9oz bottle - bloody hell, she's one hungry chick!

Firsty - Ty's sleeping sounds the same as Theo's. You aren't doing anything wrong, its just all babies are different!. If its any consolation DS1 was the same when he was a baby and now sleeps really well and hardly ever wakes once he's in bed. As long as you aren't too stressed about it then maybe just go with the flow for a few more weeks. I will also try to get Theo off night time feeding but its not bothering me too much at the moment so I'm worrying too much. What has been more annoying is that Theo has taken to sleeping on his side and always rolls himself over once he's put in his cot. But by midnight he soaking on the side he's lying on as all the wee is rolling over there!! So tonight he has a waterproof outer nappy ontop of a dispoable to see if that will work!!! Fingers crossed. Good to hear that you are enjoying your work!!

Fettle - Speaking of work, I'm with you - I dont want to go back, and I NEVER thought I would say that. But I really dont! And xmas was also a handy barrier to going back, now I'll be going back this year and that feels pretty bad - I just know its going to fly by.

Seaside - at rusk at 18 days old!!! ooh, twinges its all very exciting. Who will get to the finshing line first!! Probaly Mrs I reckon. Actually its not in the same league at all, but it reminds me of a friend who is an HV up here who visited a couple giving their 12 weeks old baby chips from a fish and chip shop .

Hi to everyone else - DH making dinner so better go!!! Hope your are enjoying your time at your sisters rainbow - at least you are with family even if you are away from the kids. Hi Bodkin! Good that the HV agrees that Isla is doing well Any recent through the night sleeping??

xx

Chooster · 12/01/2008 20:13

Oops, meant to say 'not worrying too much'

Bodkin · 13/01/2008 11:10

Hi All

city - fantastic news! So exciting that you can now start telling people - that is definitely one of the nicest parts of being preggers! Did your friends and family know you were TTC, or will it be a bit of a surprise for them?

Greedy - can't believe that Marcy weighs more than Isla And by at least a whole pound!!!! Isla is nearly 3 months older!!!! Let's see the latest picture of her then - I bet you really are out-chinning me now!

Chooster - no more sleep throughs I'm afraid - but she is going from 7 - 4am fairly consistently which is pretty good. The problem is that she's not really hungry when she wakes properly at 7am, and just snacks all morning, meaning I'm gettting my boobs out what feels like every hour She is still very resistent to any solid matter entering her mouth. She's even lost interest in the toast now... has a few gnashes and then starts wailing Also, i was hopeful she might now be dropping down to 2 naps a day (one short one in the morning, one longer in the afternoon) but the last 2 days she has been needing 3 again, which is a bit of a bore. Anyway, I must stop moaning about her. She is perfectly delightful and gorgeous and healthy, and it is very sweet watching her and DD1 interacting now and making each other giggle
That's a pain about the wet nappy thing at night - hope the waterproof wrap works!

Seaside - don't worry, those jeans will be your again.... just not straight away!
at repeating "I am Huge" That has really made me PMSL!

Honeyapple - sounds like DS's bowling party was a success - well done!

Firsty - well done on getting Ty started on a bit of finger food - it takes a while for them to get used to it, but I think they enjoy the fact they can do it themselves as much as anything. Isla had a little bit of toast the other day and then later on when she was crying I though, oh she's hungry, so I tried to feed her, but she wouldn't latch on and kept screaming. it was only when I looked in her mouth I saw a big lump of gooey toast all stuck up in the roof of her mouth .... Glad to hear you are enjoying work now, and yes, it's nice to have a bit of cash coming in... I've got a couple of little stained glass jobs lined up which should repair the damage in my account caused by Christmas

Hi Rainbowdays! I'm sure you'll cope fine with 3. And when they're a bit older, they'll all bugger off and play together and you'll be left feeling like nobody needs you anymore! That's how my friend with 3 feels now they're 6, 5 and 3.

Hi everyone else. Can't wait for another baby on this thread, it's so exciting!

Bodkin · 13/01/2008 11:11

Cor, my typing is shocking these days!

cityangel · 13/01/2008 16:58

Thanks for all your nice messages. Yes it is very exciting and daunting at the same time! Dh is away for a week we still have lots of people to tell. Told my folks yesterday and his will be next Sat. My Dad seemed quite shocked
Most friends have guessed, just don't know how far along we are. Work were really good which was unexpected.

Now I am internet bound to try and workout the minefield of where to have it, how to get clothes that fit me as unbelievably I am starting to show already. Any advice on good London/online baby/mum shops much appreciated!

How is everyone doing? I hope your weekends were good?

seaside72 · 13/01/2008 18:53

cityangel - so glad it is starting to sink in and you can tell people etc. Good news about your work being understanding - always helps.

My biggest recommendation for maternity wear is H&M - it is really reasonable - good jeans and other trousers and I found it all really comfortable. I was so disappointed with Topshop maternity (been waiting to go there since began TTC and it was such a let down ) But Hennes is much better and lets face it much as I love my clothes I cannot justify some of the designer maternity wear as it is only used for such a short time.
I was just like you and it was relief to be able to officially wear maternity trousers at 12 weeks after the scan - my bump has been really low since the beginning and all normal trousers and bottoms etc were so uncomfortable (of course now I am resigned to the elasticated waist indefinitely!)

So excited for you -Now we need Ready and Rah to make it over here too

cityangel · 13/01/2008 19:40

Good ideas Seaside thanks I am having a bit of a trawl online picking where to go. I too don't want to spend money if I don't need to for 6 months worth of wear. Equally walking around the office with my trousers falling down isn't working!

rainbowdays · 13/01/2008 19:56

City - yeh - great news on the scan. Hope you enjoy telling everyone.

Bodkin - thank you for your reassurance on having three being ok! It is lovely watching your children interact together isn't it!

Chooster, greedy - keep up those step numbers. Keep up the good work, and I hope that you will be encouraging me in weight-loss in a few months time too! Hope you enjoy your get together with MrsMc too.

Honey - - you can't be thinking of number 4 already too can you!!!!! Although I still think that 4 is a lovely number, I think I still have to get used to the idea of 3 first!!!!!

Seaside - you are really getting ready to have this baby now..... hope the cramps are not too bad. at the one hospital for the county - where are you?!?!?!?

MrsMc - hi, if you get a chance to log in soon, hope all is going swimmingly with you.

iampg - I am sorry that you are getting a rotten time from the mw. I know it does not help but I don't think it is do to your age, there are plenty of mw out there like that, I had my first baby at 35 and I got awful mw too, one in particular was lucky not to be forcibly shown the door by my dh and my mum she was so horrible!

fettle - hope Toby is settling into his bigger bed a bit better now?

Firststar - isn't it amazing how babies know when you go back to work it is time to wake up though the night again! Both mine did it.

Now I know I have forgotten someone here - please yell at me, my preggo brain is slowing me down these days.

Is anyone interested in meeting up in the south of the country. I would really love to meet up with any of you that could make it. I have forgotten where you are all from, but I am sure some of you live in the south????? I am currently in somerset, but would be able to travel to anywhere like Bristol etc to meet up!

Chooster · 13/01/2008 21:27

Halleluiah for waterproof wraps!!!! Not only did Theo wake up dry but he went from 6.30om to 6am!!! What a star . I know he's 6 months and should have been doing this ages ago but its a massive breakthrough . Of course I woke up panicing that he was OK.

Would have loved a meet-up rainbow but we are MILES away in Edinburgh - but if you are ever up this part of the world

Great to hear that you are telling people city and it's pretty exciting looking at all the baby things now isn't it . Good luck telling the rest. How are you feeling by the way?

Hey Bodkin, waking at 4am is pretty good going, at least its becoming more predictable. Strange about the solid food, but I guess when she's ready she'll be a bit happier about it all. Theo still needs 3 sleeps a day, usually only 30 mins long, so its still a mad panic to get anything done before he stirs. I so know what you mean about how lovely it is seeing the kids interact. Theo just adores Max and is always straining to get over to where he is. Fortunately Max loves it all and still gives him lots of kisses and cuddles. The other night he said "Mummy, I really really like Theo" - Aaahh. Speaking of Max I took him swimming on Friday and then today with a little pal of his and he's been doing so well, he's still quite anxious but he's really giving it a go

Oh by the way I second the recommendation for H&M, very good value although the quality is not really the best and some of my work trousers were looking worn by the end of my pregnancy but then you can't expect too much, especially as I was wearing them far more than I'd ever have worn a pair of normal trousers. The only thing I wish I'd done is buy a slightly nice quality pair of black trousers that would have been good for work and play.

Right, am hot and sweaty still from a 5 mile walk this evening - My bath is run and waiting so I'll love you and leave you ladies. Am seeing MrsMc tomorrow so will let you know how she is doing.

cityangel · 13/01/2008 22:34

Chooster say hi to MrsMC from me

Bodkin · 14/01/2008 10:30

Great news on the sleep through Chooster! Now we just need to persuade Theo to do it every night from now on! And maybe to tell Isla and Ty how to do it
Say Hi to MrsMc for me too! Is she walking around chanting "I am Huge" like Seaside?

BTW, A 5 mile walk? In the dark? Are you insane?

Rainbowdays - I think the nearest people to you are me (Dorset coast) and Fettle. Whereabouts in Somerset are you at the mo?

Talking of Ready, anyone seen her lately? How is she?

rainbowdays · 14/01/2008 12:55

Bodkin - Ready is in the 2ww again, and as expected: not really in a sad or yet happy place, as I am sure we can all remember. I just wish it would happen for her. As for me I am currently in Yeovil!

Hi all

Read through this morning but only just now writing so apologies if I forget anything!!!

Firsty - Chooster got there first to tell you that it is nothing you're doing wrong, or I'm doing right - babies are just different! DD was a rubbish sleeper and still does wake at some point in the night about 2-3 times a week - never for any major reason. But as Ty has now had a really good night, you know he can do it, so I'm sure he will do it again!

Greedy - sorry I didn't mean to imply that your girls were massive weight wise, just up wise! Sorry! I'm sure having 3 is great, but I'm quite happy with my 2. Cluckiness is wearing off now I've realised that although Toby is happily in his big cot, he's still my little baby (poor boy probably will be until he's 30!!!)

Theo - well done on sleeping through. Now make sure it is not a one-off and you do it every night. Hope Mrs is doing ok when you saw her today, Chooster.

Sorry have to dash off now - dodging rain clouds to the supermarket.

back later hopefully - lots more to say!!

hiya ladies

cityangel - congratulations on your first scan its so wonderful isnt it when you see their flickering heartbeat on the screen - it makes it all so real! how did it go with the midwife appt? so now you can start the fun process of buying for your baby!!! with regards to maternity clothes i found that my tummy got bloated quite early on but i didnt start to show until later and i have actually got away with not buying any maternity clothes except for 1 pair of work trousers which since i went on maternity leave havnt bothered with again. my bump is quite high so all of my low cut jeans and leggings etc still fit fine.

greedy - congratultions on the 5 pound weight loss and the amount of steps you do a day!! dont they say 10,000 is about average?

seaside - any inklings yet about dave arriving? i hope your meeting with the builders or estate agents goes well (cant remember which it was). cant believe you only have 1 hospital for the whole county! how do they cope?!

chooster - glad max is getting slowly used to the water bless him, say hello to mrsmcjnr for me and wish her the best for her birth if she doesnt manage to get online before.

rainbowdays - would love to have met up with you but you are still too far up north for me - im nr luton.

big hellos to bodkin, fettle, honey and firststar and anyone else i have missed

well on saturday i had a visit from the community midwife and she was fantastic! little old lady very kind and caring and she agreed to my homebirth i have been out today and got the few little bits that they require and we are ordering the pool tonight. so finally i feel like i am there! and i have had 2 really good nights of sleep - so i think the whole situation was playing on my mind too much. oh and also she told me that Oscar is engaged so im doubley pleased about that!

on the downside today - i slipped over and landed on my side, it was a slow fall as i managed to slow myself down with my hands but think when i got up ive pulled my groin. Oscar is moving around as normal so i havnt made a fuss just going to take it easy the next few days.

well i hope you are all well anyway, enjoy your evenings

MrsMcJnr · 14/01/2008 20:20

Hello ladies I am sorry I have been so useless at posting as I said to Chooster earlier today when she came to visit me I just hadn't realised how much of my time I had spent on MN previously when I was meant to be working anyway, hoping everyone is well and I am going to read up to find out but thought I'd post first just to say I was here . Not much happening with me really, today I am 39+6!! Yup tomorrow is my due date a date I never throught I would see to be honest. I am really not feeling that fed up or impatient although I would love to meet Beanie now - let's hope something happens over the next few days!

cityangel · 14/01/2008 21:01

MrsMC great to hear from you. Good luck for some action you must be getting excited!

Lampg funny you should ask. I didn't want to go on about it before... it was totally useless. She couldn't even get my height right. My dh was so upset about the incompetence it took me ages to calm him down. We are now totally put off the local hospital (filthy) and doctors midwife service. I am desperately searching online trying to find alternatives...

Thanks to everyone for the clothes advice. I need to get shopping as I am very bloated and my trousers don't fit if I've eaten!

Thanks for all your advice. As I am so new to this I feel bad for taking advice and not giving much back. Hopefully in a year I can redress the balance...

fettleandbabyfettle · 14/01/2008 21:01

Hello - managed to get back again!! And we didn't even stay dry earlier - by the time I'd got both children out of the door it was pretty threatening clouds, which burst just as we left the shops for home!

Anyway.....

Iampg - great news on the more positive community MW and the homebirth - so pleased you are sounding so happy and relaxed about everything now.

Cityangel - such fantastic news about your scan. You must be so happy and relieved - hope the next 6 months fly by easily and smoothly! As for mat clothes, I got by with elasticated waisted normal skirts etc and couple of maternity trousers for weekends - really depends on what you can get away with at work on how much "proper" maternity clothes you buy (have to say that Iampg is obviously very lithe and slender at her tender age, I'm she managed to stay in her normal jeans!!!)

Greedy - DD1's disco sounds great!!! DH just bought me the Strictly Come Dancathon exercise DVD - so see if we actually start doing that! At least it sounds more interesting than other exercise videos! Don't have a pedometer - maybe I should get one and Chooster, you and I could have walking competitions!! 9ozs!! Does seem a lot, but as Toby seems to need 3 boob-fuls before he finally settles each night, I can't really comment just because I don't actually see what goes into him! But it's exhausting for me, as they may be huge, but I do only have 2 boobs!

Bodkin - what is it like going back to your stained-glass work? I remember those days when we were guessing what it was you did for a living! Seems like an age ago! I can't believe that Isla, Ty and Theo were all born back in July! Where is the time flying to?

Chooster - it is horrible the work decision isn't it? Do you have to go back, or are you going back for your sanity or love of the job? I can't actually answer those questions myself - that's why I think it is preying on my mind. I really need to sit down and work out what I really want to do with my life. So pleased that Max is enjoying swimming. How does Theo like it? As Toby is 4 months on Wednesday, we may take him for his first trip this weekend - just hope it is not too cold for him. BTW, I'm with Bodders - where and why did you go for a walk in the dark!! Do you have glow in the dark shoes and coat?!

Seaside - so exciting, it's so close now!! Can't remember, are you planning a home birth? Hope you don't get blown away with these storms forecast for tomorrow - not a good day to go into labour! Are you still enjoying hot water? DH is upstairs looking at our shower to see why it is leaking. BTW PMSL"I am huge" - but I wish I'd had that advice before and the arm wrestle sounds a great idea too!!

Firsty - carrying on from my comments earlier to make you feel even better about Ty's sleeping - Toby was up 3 times last night! I'm hoping it's because he was passed around so much yesterday at his Christening that I didn't actually feed him very much during the day and he might have been a bit unsettled by all the people around all day - really need a better night's sleep tonight as I'm shattered!

Honey - how is Dex's excema? hope it is clearing up a bit with the antibiotics?

Rainbowy - yes, I think me and Bodders are your nearest bets! Although I think you two are closer together than I am to you both. Yeovil is a bit far for me to get to in a day, so it would have to be further North. Somewhere east dorset/southwest wiltshire is probably pretty equidistant between me and Bodders-ish - but as I recall Bodders saying she was never leaving home again....!

Big waves and positive pushing vibes to Mrs - hope she was well when you saw her today, Chooster. Hope you sent her our love.

Heard from Ready today and she misses us, she will try and pop in to see us all at some point. But I can understand how horribly hard it must be for those still TTC while we are all very pregnant or already had our babies. But keeping everything crossed that Ready, Rah and Minxi join us very soon this year!

sorry another mammoth from me and I haven't even told you how we are doing or how Toby's Christening went yesterday, but I think you've heard enough from me for one-sitting!

sleep well!

hiya mrs!! - wow you are at 40 weeks now so on the big count down!! i hope everything goes well for you and your new little family and cant wait to hear how your birth goes and see some lovely piccies of beanie im glad you are feeling ok and not fed up yet, i keep having up and down days but only because i am so anxious to meet my little boy!

cityangel - god what a palava with the midwife! no wonder your dh was getting impatient thankfully you have still got a few months to go to get teething problems sorted out. am i right in thinking you are in herts? what hospitals have you a choice of?

fettle - i hope you didnt get too wet in the rain . i am far from slender btw just dont seem to have put any weight on around my bum or hips infact they look smaller but as for my chubby cheeks and bingo wing arms....thats a whole other story!! and yet still no bigger boobs please do tell us about tobys christening! me and dp are in a big debate about whether to get oscar christened as dp is totally unreligious and i am to some extent but i just feel it is the right thing to do.anyway cant wait to hear how it went! any pics?

im glad ready is ok, been thinking of her rahrah and minxi a lot lately - seems so unfair that things just havnt happened for them yet and it just makes me feel so grateful to be where i am. sending you all big belly wobbling pregnancy vibes that it happens soon xxx
