@83Mimi Yay for a good scan experience - I'm going to make sure my bladder isn't too full 😅Like you, I'm pretty cautious and told DH I don't want to tell the family until the blood results come back (scan is next Thursday) but 2 weeks is a long time and I'd be 15 weeks by then!

I did consider Harmony initially but I have no reason to justify it at this stage - it would purely be for peace of mind. So I'm going to wait for NHS results first (and probably just tell the mums after the scan). X

LeopardLover · 05/10/2020 19:04

@SkyeBarn I would try to get an early scan because, if you're anything like me, it's all you'll be thinking about until Friday. It's probably nothing at all but you need that reassurance so you don't go crazy with worry!

Lollol86 · 05/10/2020 19:27

@83Mimi amazing news congratulations xx

LuckyFlash · 05/10/2020 19:41

I know it will completely differ between hospitals but I was told I would get my combined test results back in 5 days (by phone) if it was bad news and 2 weeks (by letter) if it was good news. I actually got them (by letter as it was good news) just 2 days later. Although I wasn’t worrying too much as the measurements were positive. I think if you’re worried do what makes you worry less!

Parkandride · 05/10/2020 20:07

2 weeks feels a lifetime if you're waiting to tell people!

Can't see who asked to tag them but NIPT I think I'd definitely have gone ahead (I'm 31) with if I'd not had my embryo genetically screened. I think doing it now would depend how long it would take for results and and if I'd want to do more invasive testing. I wouldn't want to wait for blood results then wait for NIPT results then wait for cvs if I needed certainty

LeopardLover · 05/10/2020 20:22

@LuckyFlash Oh that's amazing!! I hope other trusts are so efficient 😅

pandabear437 · 05/10/2020 22:50

Waaahhhhhhhhh my scan and NIPT was due tomorrow but my daughter got sent home from nursery with a cough they’ve classed as possible
Covid so we have to isolate until we get her tests back (very lucky I managed to get a test for her at a drive through centre this afternoon). Am almost certain it’s not COvid, she had the flu nasal spray on Friday and the nurse said to expect she’ll get a cold/snotty nose which she has and the cough is related to that. Am so so tempted to still
Go to my scan but I know it’s not the right thing to do. I’ve rearranged for Thursday hoping that we have the all clear back by then.

Am desperate for the NIPT because we went through the heartbreaking experience of receiving the ‘bad news’ scenario following NHS screening and then ultimately had to choose to end the pregnancy at 16 weeks.

IMO for you guys who are considering NIPT, I’d still go NHS screening first before deciding to fork out big bucks for the NIPT. You might get all the reassurance you need from that?

83Mimi · 05/10/2020 23:01

@pandabear437 oh no! Sorry you have to delay the scan :(

I’m slowly coming round to forgoing the NIPT test unless a high risk result from NHS. It really is a lot of money to double check the NHS result. But I can totally see how you would want the NIPT ASAP given your previous experience. That must have been so tough. Hoping you get your good news / results soon

LeopardLover · 06/10/2020 07:43

@pandabear437 Ahhh, what a pain! My friends who have had tests got results within 48 hours so fingers crossed that text comes back before your scan on Thursday! 🙏🏻

pandabear437 · 06/10/2020 08:00

Yes fingers crossed!!

Random flare up pgp overnight. Had it with my first pregnancy, pain from my hip radiating down through one thigh. Extremely painful meaning I have hardly slept. This week is not going well Confused

From previous experience I’ll fortunate that if I rest for a day or two it goes away, so hoping that’s the case and wondering what else the universe can throw at me to get in the way of having this scan done !!

RachelEliza · 06/10/2020 19:06

I’m due 30th April and first pregnancy. The sickness is horrific 🤢 honestly contemplating having some time off work but would feel so guilty I think 😐 otherwise ok! Looking forward to 12 weeks scan next week! ☺️

LeopardLover · 06/10/2020 19:28

@pandabear437 How are you feeling now? That sounds so painful 😔 I hope you're daughter is feeling better too. It's all going on!!

@RachelEliza Congratulations! 😊 Sorry you're feeling so rough, hopefully you won't be suffering for too much longer. What day is your scan? It's my first pregnancy too and my scan is next Thursday!

pandabear437 · 06/10/2020 19:33

@leopardlover rested up today and it’s less painful. Also did some of the gentle exercise I remember from my last pregnancy. I think my hormones have just flared up in the last couple of days because I’m also feeling a bit sick again, but perhaps it’s just all the extra worry !!!

My daughter is full of beans and so were just hoping to get the negative test result back ASAP. Private scan was rescheduled to Thursday. I had my NHS scan this week as a back up, and when I phoned them to reschedule the earliest date they could give me was 3 weeks time (!!).

LeopardLover · 06/10/2020 19:59

@pandabear437 Glad you're feeling a little better and have managed it. Worry can definitely impact how you feel physically! Hopefully not long until you get that negative result from the test - good to hear your daughter is full of beans again! 😄

3 weeks!? That's ridiculous! Thank goodness you have your private scan booked in. Xx

cheekypanda · 07/10/2020 10:42

I've just had a call to say that partners can now attend 12 week scans in my area! just in time for mine tomorrow, so happy and nervous at the same time. It's the same building that I was told bad news last year I start shaking thinking about it...

Parkandride · 07/10/2020 11:11

Ahh @cheekypanda that's amazing so pleased for you. Really hoping mine changes in the next couple of days!

cheekypanda · 07/10/2020 11:17

@Parkandride fingers crossed for you, it's really makes such a difference in support doesn't it.

LeopardLover · 07/10/2020 11:49

@cheekypanda oh that's great news! Especially because you're understandably feeling anxious. It'll be great to have that support! Sending you positive vibes. ☀

Vienna2020 · 07/10/2020 11:59

Hi everyone. I haven't posted since way back in August when found out I was pregnant. Have had a few scares along the way but had my 12 week scan yesterday and everything is looking good so feel I can finally start to enjoy things (that and the nausea is starting to settle which helps!).

cheekypanda · 07/10/2020 12:32

Great news @Vienna2020 I bet it was a huge relief and you can now enjoy 😊

BuckleUp · 07/10/2020 13:00

Hi all, sorry I've been a bit absent for a few days. I find it harder keeping up on here than I do the Facebook group! Looks like a lot of you are approaching your 12 week scan - best of luck to you all and I hope more hospitals are starting to relax the restrictions on partners attending.

I'm 14+1 today as I measured ahead in my scan last week 😊. I got my combined test results letter yesterday, and I'm apparently low risk which I'm relieved about. Still feeling a bit sick and tired some days, but it seems to be easing off over time thankfully!

Hope you're all well x

cheekypanda · 07/10/2020 13:57

@BuckleUp congrats! How many days did that put you ahead of what you thought?

I have a question for all, when you hit 12 weeks which most of us are coming up to..will you stop taking your folic acid? My midwife said at booking appt that I can but after taking them religiously for over a year it feels so odd to me!

BuckleUp · 07/10/2020 14:08

@cheekypanda It put me forward by 5 days! Made the transition to the 2nd trimester a bit quicker 😂. I'm still taking folic and vitamin D, but I've been getting increasingly forgetful with them since I hit 12 weeks.. I maybe remember once every other day at the most 🤦🏼‍♀️

LeopardLover · 07/10/2020 14:30

@BuckleUp Eeek! 14 weeks already - how exciting and great re your letter. That came quickly! 😊 When is your due date? Glad your symptoms are starting to ease. Is the FB chat more active?

@cheekypanda During my booking appointment the midwife told me to take it throughout 🤔

BuckleUp · 07/10/2020 14:39

@LeopardLover I know, it's gone quickly since week 10. When's your scan again? The Facebook group is differently active. Because each post is separate it's easier to keep track of individual topics/conversations. There aren't that many posts a day though. How you feeling? I saw your nausea turned to proper sickness the other day 😢
