Good to see you again @FoxtrotOscarPoppet - Welcome 😊

April2021 · 09/08/2020 18:55

Hi @FoxtrotOscarPoppet same EDD as me! Hope you're well

FoxtrotOscarPoppet · 09/08/2020 19:15

Hi @BuckleUp 😄

Hi @April2021. 😀

Having little moments of feeling light headed / bit yuck but no nausea yet. Been having slight twinges in my pelvic area every now and then for the last few days which I hope is ok.....

Having a mild panic as the dog jumped on me earlier and landed on my stomach.

Sals27 · 09/08/2020 19:25

@FoxtrotOscarPoppet My DD jumped on mine earlier too. I think they are very well protected in there so try not to worry!

Hi @Lettie365 I'm not actually sure on my EDD I've had 3 different dates from different calculators, 10, 11, 12th so I'm going with 11th as it's in the middle.

Confirmed my 8 week scan earlier, I'm booked for the 29th August so I'm keeping my fingers crossed I stay symptom free until then and see a healthy little heartbeat at the scan 🤞

BMears95 · 09/08/2020 19:41

Hi everyone!

I found out Friday that I was pregnant, due 15th of April. I’ve been having quite abit of pain downstairs today which has freaked me out as I never had anything like this with my first!

Booked an early scan for 3 weeks time as I need to make sure my bean is ok, such a nervous nelly when pregnant haha!

I’ve been feeling nauseous, tired and super sore breasts for over a week now as well xxx

FoxtrotOscarPoppet · 09/08/2020 19:58

Thanks @Sals27 - it is a worry!

For those of you who have 8 week scans. Have you booked those privately if you don’t mind me asking?

Sals27 · 09/08/2020 20:01

@FoxtrotOscarPoppet There are so many worries at this stage aren't there. It feels worse because it's a secret aswell. My scan is private, only £40 where I go, which to me is a no brainer to pay for peace of mine. They are really good too, I used them last time for the same plus a 3d later on!

JoesM12 · 09/08/2020 20:08

@FoxtrotOscarPoppet

We have booked ours privately. There is a lot of companies that do it. We just went with the one with the best reviews 😊 I think it was £60! I’ve not had it yet so I can’t comment on what it’s like. We mainly booked it due to partners not being allowed in the NHS ones still and my husband wanted to be there xx

Sals27 · 09/08/2020 20:31

@joesm12 Are they still not allowing partners? ☹️

JoesM12 · 09/08/2020 20:39

@Sals27 pretty sure they aren’t 🙁 my brother has just had a baby and they had to have extra scans and he wasn’t allowed, he was asked to leave an hour after his partner gave birth too!
My friend who lives 2 hours from me is 11 weeks and her husband won’t be allowed at their 12 week scan next week either.
Really frustrating when pubs and restaurants etc are open yet fathers aren’t allowed to be at appointments to check on the wellness of their unborn child!
God forbid if something was wrong, I’m not sure how I’d process that information on my own 🙁 I hope it changes soon!!x

Quercus3 · 09/08/2020 20:52

Hi everyone, can I join? 4+5 with first baby today, due April 13th.
Earlier in the week I had a metallic taste in my mouth which has now gone. I have sore boobs and twinges in my pelvis area, but again not feeling either symptom as strongly as earlier in the week! I took a second pregnancy test on Saturday (first was Tuesday) and the line was much stronger so I think I just need to stop worrying. I wish I felt more pregnant though. It's been reassuring to read your messages! X

FoxtrotOscarPoppet · 09/08/2020 21:22

Thanks Ladies - might do a bit of research for what companies offer scans in my area.

Hi @Quercus3 🙂

Rotagilla · 09/08/2020 21:35

I'm really debating an early scan....but worried if I have one at 6 weeks, il still want one at 9 weeks to check all is still ok...

Tonight I sat down for tea, my oh had cooked a lovely meal... and I absolutely couldn't stomach the mince....not at all!
It was only then that I remembered when being pregnant with my son (10 years ago) that I could not eat mince for the entire pregnancy 😂

FoxtrotOscarPoppet · 09/08/2020 21:57

How funny @Rotagilla. When I was pregnant with my DD I couldn’t abide the thought of beef mince - my DH makes the best chilli and the whole 9 months the thought of it had me gagging. As soon as DD was born it was the first meal I wanted once we were home.

April2021 · 09/08/2020 22:04

Anyone just get nauseous in the evenings? 5+3 and was grand all day but some very mild nausea again this evening. I was also STARVING at 5.30am this morning and had to get up and have an apple Grin hopefully that doesn't become a habit......

I also debating the early scan. I'm in Ireland and I'll be going privately so I think most consultants do an early scan at 8 weeks. I think I would like the reassurance but I think my anxiety will just kick back in afterwards again. Feeling quite anxious following a MC last year and consult checking for bleeding.....

BuckleUp · 09/08/2020 22:17

@April2021 I've been lucky so far. No nausea and still eating normally. I get hungry quicker and fill up faster than usual though.

@Quercus3 I started off with a metallic taste too, but it's gone now. I don't think we ever stop worrying!

@FoxtrotOscarPoppet I think you're very protected, so I wouldn't worry too much about the dog jumping on your stomach. So natural to worry though!

I'm starting to consider an early scan around 8/9 weeks so that DH can attend the first and hear the heartbeat. Also means we'll have something solid to give our parents when we tell them. There are no appointments available for the £45 babyDate scan though, so I think I'll have to go for the £70 early scan instead 🤔

Sals27 · 09/08/2020 23:22

@JoesM12 Oh no I've just looked at my chosen hospital and no partners for scans. Yet the other two hospital options I could use are allowing them for scans. I'd just assumed they were as I had a friend who was allowed her partner for her 20w - it must vary on hospital.

@Rotagilla I know what you mean, 6w would be tempting but the wait between 6 and 12 is still too long! I can't remember the stats because I looked at them more than 2 years ago but if you see a HB at 8 weeks you have a really good chance of a sucessful pregnancy. I'll tell close family after the 8w scan if all is ok, I'll be about 10w on my mums birthday so I might do something fun to tell her then

BuckleUp · 10/08/2020 06:12

@Sals27 I just checked and my hospitals are all refusing DPs at scans so far. I hope it changes soon..

My BBT shot back up this morning so I was worrying over nothing yesterday.. On another note, I've now lost a stone since stopping shift work at the end of January - just in time to pile it back on in pregnancy weight 😂

LuckyFlash · 10/08/2020 08:08

Hi everyone 👋 thanks for the link @Rotagilla

EDD of 10th April for me. All my symptoms seem to have disappeared. I was getting a lot of bloating and cramping but now I feel fine. Not sure whether to be worried or thankful!

But if a weird time for me. I got my BFP last week while on holiday with DH. Now on the second half of the holiday and my family have all joined us. I want to tell them as it will become pretty obvious that I haven’t had a drink yet and I don’t want them to guess, but my 5y/o niece is with us and hasn’t gone to bed at a reasonable time yet leaving us adults alone. I really don’t want to tell her yet and get her hopes up for a cousin so early. But I think I’m just going to have to at this rate!

In my area you have to fill in an online form for the midwife but I can’t do it on my phone (it’s a word doc you have to download) so I haven’t even been able to let the midwife know. Do you think it’s a problem if I can’t do it until 6 weeks? That will be how far I am along when I get home...

BuckleUp · 10/08/2020 08:38

@LuckyFlash I don't think that will be a problem. The NHS website just says they like to do the booking in appointment before 10 weeks so you'll still have 4 weeks to arrange when you return. Enjoy your holiday!

Chicken123 · 10/08/2020 10:59

I’m 4+5 today, due 14th April and still can’t believe I’m pregnant.
Do any of you ladies still keep doing tests just to make sure you are actually pregnant despite having some horrid symptoms?
I’ve just 2 tests, a cheapy and a cb and both the most positives I’ve ever had. So that’s made me happy!

BuckleUp · 10/08/2020 11:16

@Chicken123 I'm testing once a week just to use up the two spares after my first positive. I'm 5 weeks now, tested at 4 and 5 weeks, and will test once more at 6 weeks. That'll take me to my booking in appointment with the midwife at 7 weeks and I'll probably leave it at that. I think once you're HCG levels are high you won't see any further line progression so it's probably more for reassurance. Congratulations btw 😊

Chicken123 · 10/08/2020 11:21

Yeah!
I have one more cheap one and one more digital weeks one to use.
Yeah, that’s a good idea and for me it is definitely just a reassurance thing because you’re pregnant but you can’t see anything yet so all we have are the lines😂
Congratulations to you too x

FoxtrotOscarPoppet · 10/08/2020 11:36

Nausea has really kicked in this morning 🤢

Chicken123 · 10/08/2020 11:45

Oh bless you @FoxtrotOscarPoppet
Nausea is the worst I swear! I’d much rather just be sick and be done with it. See if you can try and have some plain carbs and keep sipping ice cold water through a straw. I was told that and I find it helps x
