@Mc3209 good luck at your appointment today. Do you have to have bloods taken?

I have my 32 weeks appointment next week. All getting worryingly close! I've packed my hospital bag ready to go, just need to get my birth plan printed.

It's cooler in London today thankfully! How's everyone coping?

1990shopefulftm · 13/08/2020 15:35

@roarfeckingroarr

Really been struggling with the heat today, had a fan on, iced water and a cold face cloth on my head.

I've started writing a tiny bit of my birth plan down, I m considering writing it to cover all worst case scenarios so it's all there just in case but hoping that doesn't make me look like a horrendous pessimist (i mean I am one but still)

WaveStreet · 13/08/2020 18:12

@roarfeckingroarr glad you're feeling a bit cooler. We haven't had any of the rain where I am in Essex yet so still struggling with the heat today! Hopefully it'll change overnight.

@1990shopefulftm i know what you mean, but think I would feel better about covering all eventualities just to make you feel like you have some control over whatever the situation may be.

Does anyone use any apps for tracking baby movement? Baby's consistently active early evening, then after dinner, then when I get into bed but I'm worried I don't monitor it closely enough during the day to notice the pattern.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 13/08/2020 18:41

I'm awaiting a (probably) phone call from a consultant to discuss my birth options. I had a precipitous labour that lead to pph and all sorts of nastiness. I need to know whether a elective c section is my best option or whether I can have a more managed v birth.

Enjoying the cooler weather though

Flora20 · 13/08/2020 19:26

Glad it's cold down today, although I did end up waiting for a bus in a very windswept area and shivering in the drizzle - can't win!

@DressingGown87 Exciting times having a date booked in - doesn't seem long to go! You must be relieved at the house almost being finished too, I'm not sure I could have coped with that recently!

@1990shopefulftm I think even if you don't keep everything in your final birth plan it's a good idea to have thought through what you would like in every situation. Last time I had a few points that I thought of as 'must haves' (in non emergency situation obviously) and others that were ideas but was willing to be more flexible with if need be. My midwife suggested keeping it at no more than a page for your final version as when it comes to labour you want it to be short enough for the midwives to have time to read it!

1990shopefulftm · 13/08/2020 19:59

@WaveStreet I do feel that I could be less anxious if I have an answer to what I would prefer if possible in any situation, rather than be faced with something I didn't expect and have to quickly decide what I would want whilst in a fair bit of pain.

@Flora20 Oh it won't be over a page, I'm trying to keep it straight to the point but flexible. I was just thinking I could put, if I have to be induced i'd prefer this if possible, then do the same for instrumental birth and c section. Then I've put what I think I'll want pain relief wise in order of yes I'll try that first to only if i've used all offer options and that DH isn't keen on cutting the cord so they know that the midwife can do it.

Mc3209 · 13/08/2020 20:10

28 week appointment went fine, all measuring as it should. Thank you for your well wishes, girlies! @roarfeckingroarr yep, they took bloods today. Results shouldn't take too long hopefully.

I am so excited about my hair appointment this Saturday! Looooong overdue!

SamK93 · 13/08/2020 20:37

@Mc3209 I'm glad your 28 week appointment went well.
I'm 29 weeks tomorrow I chased up my 28 week appointment this week as there was nothing booked and she said I'm not seeing you until August 21st that's when your booked in for 🙄 so that's a 30 week appointment then. Wish I could see an actual human instead of always getting fobbed off! A little reassurance that all is going well is all we need sometimes and I haven't had that yet.

SJR86 · 13/08/2020 20:42

@1990shopefulftm I've printed off the NHS birth plan template and I'm just planning on filling that out- it's talks about some things that I hadn't even considered which has been a good talking point with my partner.

DressingGown87 · 13/08/2020 22:09

@1990shopefulftm I think it’s worth considering them all. I have a little section to the bottom of mine. I also have plan A and plan B, as they would be very different births if I go into spontaneous labour.

@WaveStreet I did have an app, but found I was getting too anxious over it. Which is why I’ve just gone off morning, afternoon, night. I wouldn’t say I notice a pattern, especially in the day. Just make sure she has her bedtime jiggle to rest my mind.

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt hope they phone you, and you can discuss the options. I found talking about them, then thinking about them, helped my decision to elective induction.

@Flora20 I know it’s starting to feel real now, just need to sort her clothes out. Your all not far behind me, it’s coming round so quick.

@Mc3209 glad your appointment went well. Enjoy the hair appointment on Saturday!

@WaveStreet I've got the Kicks Count app, it's quite basic but it's helped me to become aware of what movements are like at different times of day. I agree on not getting too caught up in the actual number of kicks, it's more about making sure they're active when they normally are throughout the day/evening.

1990shopefulftm · 14/08/2020 08:36

@SJR86 that's a great template, I ll make sure all the questions are answered from it.

@DressingGown87 I like the idea of putting the Plan B near the bottom, I think I ll do that for if I need an induction or a c section.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 14/08/2020 08:41

Thanks @DressingGown87 I've not heard of an elective induction, I'll look into that!

FirstSurprise001 · 14/08/2020 19:55

Won a VIP 3 course meal and cocktails for the local Botanist so it’s officially date night tonight (and the perfect excuse for an up to date bump pic!) Probably the last time I’ll be seen in heels too!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend ❤️

CoBell · 16/08/2020 07:30

Good Morning all, I've been lurking in the background of this thread for a while, my due date is actually 5th November but it's been nice to hear how you are all getting on and the experiences your all having just that bit in front of me. I'm currently just over 28 weeks and I've had my 28 week appointment and all was looking fine however I have pain in my chest/left boob/ rib area - can't really tell which it is and a sharp pain if I take in a sharp breath or when trying to lay on my left side. I've looked at doctor google and terrified myself. Does anyone have experience of this? Could it just be discomfort in the ribs from the babies position or am I best to get this checked out? It's not all the time. Started last night and aslong as I dont move too fast I'm ok apart from the odd sharp twinge. Thanks x

SamK93 · 16/08/2020 12:46

Hi @CoBell I've had exact same pain too just under my left breast and above my bump. I bought it up with my midwife over the phone and she did say rib pain is common as the uterus is expanding and making space etc. As it's not consistent and just comes and goes, usually in evenings when I'm sitting down I didn't do much about it. I do have an appointment with her next Friday face to face which I will then bring up again and show her as it's quite a sharp pain and sometimes radiates to my back too. If your worried about it then definitely get it checked out x

CoBell · 16/08/2020 12:56

Hi @SamK93, thank you for your reply! It's reassuring that you've had something very similar. It's quite uncomfortable at times especially if I move to the left or try and lay on my left side but not unmanageable any other time so I was just going to see how I went over the next few days now I'm not so worked up about it. I can imagine it is perfectly normal to get a bit of pain sometimes and feel discomfort from this stage onwards as the baby is getting bigger and she does feel really high up towards my ribs at the minute. The radiating to the back sounds exactly like mine aswell. I hope it becomes a bit more comfortable for us both and I hope your midwife reassures you that it is perfectly normal SmileI have my next appointment in a couple of weeks so I will see how I get on but will speak to them sooner if needed. Thank you x

roarfeckingroarr · 16/08/2020 13:19

Hi @CoBell I had really bad left rib pain just under my boob for a couple of months. I think it was due to my ribs having to stretch and the only thing that helped was lying flat on my back which isn't really recommended. It seems to finally have gone (32 weeks today) but you're not alone and it could well be just a standard horrid side effect but nothing to worry about.

I had my first round of Braxton Hicks last night. All I'm saying is either I have a shite pain threshold or if these are "uncomfortable" then I'm in for an adventure when the real ones kick in 😬.

CoBell · 16/08/2020 13:33

Hi @roarfeckingroarr, thank you for your reply! It's nice to know that im not alone! I'm quite an anxious person at the best of times so i was worrying a bit this morning about it but the discomfort has eased off slightly throughout the day and like you say, it's probably just going to be something to get used to as I'm getting bigger. Smile I'm glad yours has eased up now and oh dear haha. I think my pain threshold is pretty good but I'm sure time will tell!!!X

roarfeckingroarr · 16/08/2020 13:44

@CoBell I did too 😁😬. If you're worried then give your midwife a call. Rib pain is horrible!
