Late October Babies 2020 - Thread 5
Flora20 · 07/08/2020 15:14

Ugh it's 27 here and far too hot and muggy, I can't begin to imagine how it must be down south! I had to go out to get a heartburn prescription (been through 5 large bottles of gaviscon and it's not doing anything anymore 😭) and walking back was like being in a desert... On the upside my 2 year old fell asleep which never usually happens so I'm just sprawling in the shade at the moment!

KitKatKit · 07/08/2020 15:19

@roarfeckingroarr Sending icy cold sympathies your way, it's waaaaay too hot down here today and it looks set to be this way for a few days.

@Flora20 Sorry to hear you're struggling with heartburn too, it's no fun. Enjoy the relative quiet whilst your 2yo is napping!

Mc3209 · 07/08/2020 15:51

Re weather, I feel like I am in the opposite camp. I want to see the sun, I want to poke around in the garden without rain.

My sympathies to all of you melting down south.

In the melting camp here, wish we could send some of our sunshine up to you @Mc3209. Just got home and it's too hot to do anything productive at home or even sit in the garden!

Had my anti D jab today, heard this is a bad one but it was absolutely fine.

@flora20 hope your prescription helps with your bad heartburn.

roarfeckingroarr · 07/08/2020 18:44

Yes my love, but with all the kindness in the world, you live in Aberdeen 😂.

I survived today by having an early afternoon nap with the blinds down and soon I'm going for a swim. I haven't sorted all the towels and bed clothes (today's long list item) but I have prepped dinner for tonight and tomorrow and baked a tarte tatin.

watersintheclouds · 07/08/2020 20:15

36c was not the weather for my 28 week growth scan and bloods. The scan was fine but I was obviously dehydrated and they couldn’t get any blood from me. She tried both arms and then suggested we try my hand. Well... 3 vials in I fainted! I was mortified but apparently I wasn’t the first fainter today.

Freddie1987 · 07/08/2020 20:38

@watersintheclouds OMG you poor thing! Didn't they offer you cold water?! And I thought my glucose test today was bad purely for the sheer amount you have to drink 🤢and the fact that I was so hangry when I left that I wolfed down a sandwhich from Costa in the hospital because I thought I was going to faint too!

Mc3209 · 07/08/2020 23:26

@roarfeckingroarr 😂 a girl can dream, right 😂

Lovelies, you take care in the heat, stay hydrated.

SJR86 · 08/08/2020 08:46

@watersintheclouds ouch...taking blood from your hand is really painful - poor you! Not surprised you fainted!
@Freddie1987 I had my glucose test last week on a hot day too, after the sugary drink I was given half a cup of water and told that was all I was allowed for the next two hours. I had packed a massive bottle of water and was planning on using that to try to trick myself into thinking I hadn't missed breakfast!

1990shopefulftm · 08/08/2020 11:29

Took a cereal box out of the cupboard this morning and it fell at hit my bump, there's the tiniest scratch and movements normal so no worries medically. I feel like I m getting to get so clumsy come my due date.

SamK93 · 08/08/2020 11:44

@1990shopefulftm hopefully all should be well, I did something stupid yesterday too. I was in bed and heard the door as it was a delivery and ran down the stairs and sometimes I forget I have a bump and can't fit through small gaps anymore and one of the doors hit my bump a bit. I had normal movements all day though, hurt a bit and slight scratch but I think I'll be ok as they do say the babies are well protected in there. We just have to be more careful! DH is forever reminding me that I need to remember I'm pregnant and slow down a bit.

1990shopefulftm · 08/08/2020 12:14

@SamK93 yes, they should be well protected with all the fluid and things.
I should be more careful, my DH keeps saying when I get up in the morning and always have joint pains that if I need a day in front of the tv to do it but I always end up trying to do something productive.

SamK93 · 08/08/2020 12:26

@1990shopefulftm I get what you mean I'd love a day in front of the TV too but I just think there's so much I could be getting on with. What are we like hey.
I had the windows open in the bedroom last night and I've woken up this morning with so many bites! I've got two on my leg and one on my arm that are so itchy and swollen not sure what's bit me overnight.

roarfeckingroarr · 08/08/2020 12:58

@watersintheclouds oh you poor creature. Do you feel better today? Couldn't they leave your bloods for another day?

1990shopefulftm · 08/08/2020 13:01

@SamK93 that must be very uncomfortable, if memory serves me right there's some pregnancy safe after bite stuff that a pharmacy could give you

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 08/08/2020 16:16

Clumsiness has hit me too. I dropped a punnet of raspberries, followed swiftly by a bowl of pomegranate seeds....Confused

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 08/08/2020 16:17

I am also so uncomfortably hot and am having mild twinges on my right side hip/groin area. No idea what it is

roarfeckingroarr · 08/08/2020 19:38

I've cried on and off ALL DAY. Feeling a bit better now. It's like my emotional filter has disappeared and I'm now 3 / 13!

DressingGown87 · 08/08/2020 21:29

@1990shopefulftm thank you, think I’m going to stick to cow and gate.

@watersintheclouds ouch! Hope your feeling better today.

@roarfeckingroarr hope your ok, it’s better out than in sometimes, and hormones can do really strange things.

I’ve been kayaking today, and walked up a peak in the Lake District. Shattered now. The weather has been lovely. I’m pretty sure this isn’t the relaxing break the MW suggesting, but it feels so nice to be away and I’m enjoying it.

My little girl kicks when they do my injection now, I feel so bad like I’m hurting her. But have to remember she is well protected. Makes it 10 times worse and it bleeds, especially as It’s getting quite tough.

SamK93 · 08/08/2020 22:13

@roarfeckingroarr hormones are just mad aren't they, I really hope your feeling better.

@DressingGown87 wow looks like you've had an eventful day! Aww no I'm sure your not hurting her.. I know how it must make you feel though.

I'm really irritated, as I'm 28 weeks now and when I had my 25 week telephone consultation she said I'd definitely be seeing her at 28 weeks for bloods and bump measurements etc. She said that the appointment would be on my GP surgery app. Well I've had a look and I've got one booked in for 21st August! I'll be 30 weeks then. I'm really annoyed, I haven't had my urine checked, BP checked or anything else for that matter since my booking appointment in March! There's so many little things I would have liked to discuss with her. I'm getting really annoyed.
I've had stomach pain not low about mid way every time I urinate and it's been getting worse over last couple of days, I thought I'd be hearing about my 28 wk appointment so I'll just wait until then but it causes me agony I feel like I cant empty my bladder properly. Now I'm feeling the pain when I'm up and about walking too. There's other things I've never experienced with other two pregnancies too that I would have liked to have spoken to her about. So annoyed 😩

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 09/08/2020 09:56

Can you ring and see if you can get seen earlier? Lots of my appointments have been over when I was supposed to have them. E.g. 12 weeks was more like 15, I think they often are so busy the dates don't align.

DressingGown87 · 09/08/2020 10:43

@SamK93 I would call and explain about the pain, and your concerns and say you would like to get seen sooner. Explain you haven’t raised your concerns or seen triage as you expected a 28week appointment around this time. Hopefully they can see you. I’m not surprised your irritated.

I know same again today, been so lucky with the weather. She knows it’s a needle as she always pushes or kicks the area the needle has gone in.

watersintheclouds · 09/08/2020 11:28

Thanks ladies. Still felt a bit fuzzy headed yesterday in the heat but feeling much better today.

@DressingGown87 what are your injections? I’ve got a consultant appointment tomorrow and I think they’re planning to start me on blood thinning injections then.

DressingGown87 · 09/08/2020 11:39

@watersintheclouds I have Fragmin twice a day now. Until 6 weeks after birth. Then I have b12 and two others at the hospital administered by the MW. I can’t do them myself for have daily nurses, but you get use to them.
