@DressingGown87 your bump picture is fab. Glad the vista was easy to put together, i can imagine it does look big once its at home! @sls668 hope you get yours together soon too. I'm so excited for the big things to arrive.

@FirstSurprise001 glad your scan went well, that must be a relief.

I seem to have avoided piggy feet so far but hope if you're suffering you can find time to put your feet up in this heat and stay hydrated. Bump seems to be having an uncomfortable growth spurt this week, everything feels big and squashed inside, it's hard to believe there's still nearly a whole trimester to go.

1990shopefulftm · 11/08/2020 21:08

@DressingGown87 i dont mind if it's a telephone appointment :) it's just that the paint needs touching up in places rather than the whole wall needing doing , DH is on his 2nd set of antibiotics for an ear infection so hes not getting up any ladders at the moment. Hope everything is going well with the work at your house.

DressingGown87 · 11/08/2020 22:01

@WaveStreet thank you. I just keep thinking 8-9weeks left, and that doesn’t seem much. It feels like it has flown by. It does make things seem strange when the big things come.

@1990shopefulftm I’ve nearly done just need the final fix of electrics tomorrow. The other jobs like painting the landing (which is double height) will have to wait until next year. Hope your Dh starts to feel better soon. Maybe ask the MW at your next app, mine said she didn’t know what was going on, then I got a letter through. My HV is preston based, I thought she wouldn’t have been as my GP is not located in Preston, but my GP HV said I’m out of their area now as they have reduced the radius.

I am starting to regret my decision leaving the pram buying to DH. He still hasn't ordered it... I know he started to research the prams, but despite me 'gently reminding' him that delivery times could be weeks he still thinks there is plenty of time.

1990shopefulftm · 11/08/2020 22:33

@DressingGown87 glad you re almost of the finish line with your house. I ll ask her at my next appointment . I think the health visitors are run by virgin care in Preston not directly by the NHS so might explain the strange catchment area.

WaveStreet · 11/08/2020 22:36

@Mc3209 we only ordered a couple of weeks ago but wouldn't have got our colour choice had we left it any longer. Would threatening him that you will take the job from him and just pick something work?! It probably still feels ages away to them.

GhostWorld · 12/08/2020 08:30

@Mc3209 I'm in the same position! Hes reluctant to order because we've got such a small flat but I'm worried about the delivery times!

WaveStreet · 12/08/2020 08:55

@GhostWorld a lot of the independent shops are happy to store them for you until you need it

KitKatKit · 12/08/2020 12:54

Sorry to hear that some of you are struggling with swollen feet too. Hoping today is the last day of extreme heat 🤞

@Mc3209 and @GhostWorld I don't have a pram or car seat and I'm 30 + 2! Its more my choice though, I'm strangely in no rush. No idea why I have this lack of urgency, I am usually the most organised and prepared person ever! I know exactly which car seat and pram I want, I'm just delaying the purchase for a few weeks.

@1990shopefulftm Looks like a great list! On mine I also have a spare plastic/bin bag for ruined clothes, a small handheld fan for when I'm melting either during or after labour and also some TENA disposable pants (recommended to me for the immediate days after birth). Hope that helps!

GhostWorld · 12/08/2020 12:59

@1990shopefulftm The only other things I've got listed are optional extras but I've been told are helpful
Drinking straws (although might be covered with water bottle)
Roll on deodorant (as spray can be antisocial)
Antibac wipes (for cleaning around you)
Bag for dirty clothes
Loose change for vending machine/car park
Sleep spray if you use it usually
Lip balm (this I've been told by multiple people)

What is freeze spray?

1990shopefulftm · 12/08/2020 14:10

@KitKatKit I hadn't thought about the dirty clothes, I'll make sure to get a couple of bags in there.

@GhostWorld freeze spray you use for joint pain, it's not safe to use in pregnancy but if my joints are swollen after labour then it's great stuff for me as I'm allergic to ibuprofen. Yes definitely roll on deodorant, since i have asthma the last thing i want to do is be coughing on a ward when someone's used an aerosol. Straws would make life easier but I can never find plastic ones these days.

GhostWorld · 12/08/2020 15:18

Does anyone have the Snuzpod 2? I've just accidentally ordered that (secondhand) thinking it was the 3 and now I'm feeling really disappointed. And also just come across an old thread that talks about Tutti Bambini Cozee and now I really want that! Think this baby brain mixed in with raging hormones isn't doing me any good

KitKatKit · 12/08/2020 20:34

For anybody still struggling with the heat down south this evening, I think I've found the solution to our evening woes - have a tepid shower and dont fully dry yourself off, instead stand in front of a fan and enjoy the icy cool breeze! I've just done that and it was bliss. Now laying in bed feeling soooo much cooler than I have all day.
Hope everyone is hanging in there...!

Freddie1987 · 12/08/2020 20:59

@GhostWorld we got the 3 second hand but in all honesty, when I looked at the difference I don't think there's anything in it apart from the reflux incline feature? If it makes you feel any better, you could literally create the same effect by placing a book underneath one end and making it secure!

@KitKatKit that's great advice, apart from our fan seems to only circulate hot air 😂have definitely heard tepid rather than cold showers are more effective though! I've been sucking on ice cubes half naked on my bed most of the day haha.

@DressingGown87 love that photo!! I enjoyed the Lakes so much the other week too, amazing what a bit of fresh air can do eh.

DressingGown87 · 12/08/2020 22:29

@Mc3209 maybe ask him to look at some lead times, I have some bits still on order and they don’t know when they will be in stock, but hopefully for November.

@1990shopefulftm that looks a good list. I have bought some waterproof zip bags from eBay for dirty clothes. They are washable so easier.

@KitKatKit I went out in my car aimlessly today, just so I could benefit from the air conditioning. It’s so hot!

@Freddie1987 it’s so nice isn’t it. Can’t wait to spend my mat leave up there next year.

Mc3209 · 12/08/2020 22:39

@WaveStreet, @DressingGown87 I think I am going to take a wee charge on the pram front. I can just see it being a problem otherwise.
@KitKatKit I am impressed with your chilled out approach to it! I've got everything else pretty much sorted, and this outstanding thing is driving me a bit nuts.

Sls668 · 13/08/2020 09:16

I had my 28 week appointment yesterday and the Doctor has just text to say my iron is still low despite the fact I’ve been on iron tablets since about 14 weeks. How annoying 😡

DressingGown87 · 13/08/2020 10:30

@Mc3209 hope you get sorted. You could just look at his research and see what’s available or not.

@Sls668 are they going to start you on infusions? Mine was still low so they have doubled by dose of tablets, in hope that it works.

I’ve been booked in at 38weeks! 8 weeks left! 😳 still to be reviewed fortnightly, but she’s growing.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 13/08/2020 11:44

I've just been looking back at photos from when I was pregnant with my little boy. I can't believe I was so relaxed about having no kitchen at 37 weeks pregnant! Shock

So thankful for the cooler weather today!

Went to ikea yesterday and bought a little chair to nurse in for the baby's room

WaveStreet · 13/08/2020 12:20

Had a call from my midwife yesterday, she came to my house this morning for my 28 (29) week appointment, was lovely that DH could be there for it too.

@DressingGown87 countdown is on now you have a date! What did you decide to go for in the end, induction/csection?

@monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt you must be very laid back! Did it get done in time?

Sls668 · 13/08/2020 12:58

@DressingGown87 she just asked me to double up on my tablets. What are infusions?

Mc3209 · 13/08/2020 13:20

@DressingGown87 that's very exciting, you are on a home stretch!

Mc3209 · 13/08/2020 13:22

Got my 28 week appointment today. Let's see how it goes.

DressingGown87 · 13/08/2020 15:19

@Mc3209 good luck at your appointment today.

@WaveStreet that’s good she came to you and DH got to be there too. Hope it all went ok. I have opted for induction. Hoping it won’t get changed to Emergancy c section. I think it’s for the best recovery wise.

@Sls668 that’s what I have done doubled the tablets. If that doesn’t work they will do the infusion, which is where they do it through a drip intravenously. Hope the double dose works for you.

I’ve lost my ankles in this heat! They looks like a continuation of my legs 😭
