Thanks @WaveStreet @roarfeckingroarr - tried again last night and still nothing is coming out. Maybe I just need to be more patient. The midwife did say that not every single mum will be able to harvest so I hope this is not an indication of any future breastfeeding success.

Perineal massage feels a bit weird... I do it on the bed but yeah i think the muscle is less stiff? I have been starting last week and doing it once every other night.

We are due this month, with all these little pumpkins 🎃!!

@DressingGown87 so exciting to think we’re all going to have little baba’s in our arms hopefully before the end of the month!! 😬

My hired TENS machine finally got dispatched yesterday despite saying it would be here by last week. I’m on day 3 of stomach ache, cramping and sharp pains which is much worse at night. Starting to come around to the idea that if it’s not BH then there’s not a lot I can really do and he’s just ready to come. Super nervous though 😅

Flora20 · 02/10/2020 08:30

October, hurray! I'm 37 weeks today and have even managed to start decorating the living room for my birthing room... Feeling surprisingly organised now after panicking last week!

@FirstSurprise001 There's nothing you can do but it'll be a relief when your machine arrives 😂 I've been having lots of twinges but they've eased off again now, the bh are really regular though. Seeing as I didn't realise I was in labour until I was almost fully dilated last time, I'm not the best person to judge these things!

FirstSurprise001 · 02/10/2020 08:33

@Flora20 until you were nearly fully dilated!? Praying for your pain threshold if that’s the case 😂 bet you’re getting excited through the decorating! It’s all starting to feel a bit more real once baby things starting appearing around the house 🥰

Sls668 · 02/10/2020 08:46

36 weeks today! It’s going so fast! In theory, we’d cope if she came now as we have the things we really need but, as the nursery is still being decorated, we have stuff EVERYWHERE so fingers crossed she hangs on a little longer!
Is anyone else asthmatic and struggling with the lack of lung space? I’ve noticed this week my breathing is a bit more of a struggle - i’m yawning constantly which is typical for me when I’m not breathing as well

1990shopefulftm · 02/10/2020 09:01

@Sls668 I m asthmatic and have found it harder to breathe at times when I m walking so I m not going as often or as far as I used to.
Supposedly it gets better the more babies head engages so hopefully it won't be as bad as you get closer to them arriving.

DressingGown87 · 02/10/2020 09:05

@FirstSurprise001 I think they come when they want, unless told otherwise 😂 I’m with you on the super nervous feeling.

@Flora20 wow! Hope I have you pain threshold too.

I’ve started placing everything out around the house now. Need to valet the car, and do that. I’ve put batteries in the swing seat, play mat, ewan, charged the monitors. It’s all becoming real.

@Sls668 fingers crossed she hangs on. I’m asthmatic but I’ve not been too bad. I think she is leant to one side though (and in my right ribs)

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 02/10/2020 10:38

36 weeks today too! Its all very exciting. I've also been given the go ahead to request a water birth so fingers crossed!

roarfeckingroarr · 02/10/2020 10:45

Maternity leave starts today! 38 + 5 so not long to go. Constant BH and period pain aches but nothing too strong. I've moved my hair appointment forward to Sunday just in case.

It's such a strange time, being full term but before your due date. My DP is WFH just in case and he's wandering around like a lost puppy, we both are.

SamK93 · 02/10/2020 10:58

Snap @Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt @Sls668 36 weeks today also! Just had midwife appointment, baby is 4/5 engaged which will explain all the low painful cramps I've been getting the last few days.

Sls668 · 02/10/2020 11:31

@SamK93 I’m jealous, my baby is still 100% up in my ribs 😂

I keep experiencing the baby feeling hard for a couple of minutes but this doesn’t sound like Google’s description of Braxton Hicks. What do they feel like for everyone else?

SamK93 · 02/10/2020 11:39

@Sls668 I definitely think that's braxton hicks, that's all it is for some people. Stomach goes hard for a couple of minutes and then eases, it's not supposed to hurt or anything like that. Is this your first? Sometimes babies don't engage right up until day of labour so it's fine.

Sls668 · 02/10/2020 11:56

@SamK93 oh that’s good, I feel quite excited if it is! It doesn’t hurt unless I am sat down and move too much while it’s happening but I guess that’s to be expected if the muscle is hard. Yes, it’s my first, i was dead set that she was going to come early but now I’ve decided she’s staying in there for the long run!

I’m still working quite flexibly at the moment but am generally in work 3 days a week. I feel so much better on those days where I’m up early and active all day. I’m on a day off today and I just feel so uncomfortable and like a potato

Flora20 · 02/10/2020 11:59

@FirstSurprise001 @DressingGown87 There wasn't any pain, just very achey pressure in my back that I eventually realised was coming in waves. Every 2-3 minutes when I phoned the midwife, who then had to be persuaded to come as she doubted I was actually in active labour. Don't underestimate breathing exercises and a tens machine!

@roarfeckingroarr Hurray for mat leave! Probably not long for you now... Feeling prepared?!

1990shopefulftm · 02/10/2020 12:42

We ve got a changing table set up upstairs but want to do a basket of stuff for in the living room incase we don't feel up to going upstairs for whatever reason. I m going to put nappies, wipes and the small changing mat in it and a tub of sudocrem, is there anything else I could need?

Flora20 · 02/10/2020 13:24

@1990shopefulftm Are you planning to bf? (Sorry, I can't remember whether you've mentioned it or not!) If so a basket of stuff for you - nipple cream and breast pads, paracetamol, remote control, kindle, phone charger, packet of biscuits... It might be useful even if you're bottle feeding as you are still likely to get stuck under a sleeping baby!

In the changing basket also a change of clothes for baby (or two!) in case of poo/sick/wee incidents!

1990shopefulftm · 02/10/2020 13:31

@Flora20 no I m not planning to BF. I can keep paracetamol, snacks and my water bottle in a box that the cat can't get at :)

I ve got breast pads anyway as there doesn't seem to be much reliable information on how long it takes milk to dry up so thought it might be more comfortable if it takes a while.

FirstSurprise001 · 02/10/2020 17:15

‘If it’s not BH and he’s just going to come then there’s not a lot I can do’ - she said this morning.

This afternoon I have my bloody show. 😬😬😬😬

Recon I can put a plug up there so I can enjoy my 25th birthday tomorrow and then have him? 🙃🙃😂

Flora20 · 02/10/2020 18:17

@FirstSurprise001 Ooh exciting! Are you still getting any bh/any other signs? Apparently you can lose your plug days or weeks before anything really happens... Equally I lost mine a few hours before I gave birth last time! Keep us posted 🙂

SamK93 · 02/10/2020 19:25

@FirstSurprise001 that's quite exciting! Yes they do say you can lose the mucus plus a week or two before too. Happy birthday in advance for tomorrow hope you get to enjoy your day. I didn't have my show until active labour with both mine so everyone's different.

I have a cold again! I just got rid of one the other week and I woke up with a dreadful one again. Runny nose and sore throat, it's really draining me. Does anyone know if strepsils r okay to have? I tried to have a look online but nothing to say yes or no.

60sPony · 02/10/2020 20:30

@FirstSurprise001 wow you are getting close! Happy birthday for tomorrow! What a gift if baby does come!

DressingGown87 · 02/10/2020 20:53

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt glad you got your water birth!

@roarfeckingroarr 🥳 congratulations on starting the Mat leave!

@Flora20 sounds ideal, that you got to that stage without too much restriction and pain. I need to practicing breathing. I tend to hold my breath 🙈

@1990shopefulftm you sound like your covered. I would add some Muslins to the baskets and nappy bags.

@FirstSurprise001 ooo fingers crossed you can enjoy your birthday, and don’t have to share. Happy birthday 🎊 too!

@SamK93 sorry your feeling rubbish! Lots of rest, and keep your feet up.

AdventureAhead · 02/10/2020 22:31

@sls668 I'm asthmatic but my baby is lying transverse most of the time and the one small positive to that is that I don't have a bum in my ribcage! Fingers very much crossed it goes head down and stays head down soon though!
@firstsurprise001 very exciting that you could share a birthday with your baby, that would be lovely!
@dressinggown87 You are so prepared and organised! I need to channel some of your organisational skills! Definitely need to sort the hospital bag at least this weekend.
@roarfeckingroarr Congrats on starting maternity leave, enjoy the time off before bump arrives!

Mc3209 · 03/10/2020 04:55

@FirstSurprise001 happy birthday, lovely! What are you doing to celebrate? Have you had any more signs of labour?

@SamK93 basic type of Strepsils should be fine. There is usual vague 'this has not been trialled in pregnant human trials' attached to it (as many, many, other things. No ethics committee will approve a randomised trial in pregnancy), but the active ingredient has been used for years in lozenges. You can always run it by the pharmacist first if you are still worried.
I hope your cold gets better. 💐

@roarfeckingroarr congratulations with commencing mat leave! ☺️
